  2. Popped along to their new shop in Warrington a couple of days ago. It was their grand opening, in the new premises, the week before. We'd never been before but saw them on on ticktock and Instagram so as it was only 50 odd minutes away @sofieb and I went to have a nosey. By their admission, it's the largest airsoft shop in the UK and having now been there I tend to agree. I've only been to a couple of others and, generally, they have all been quite small affairs. I couldn't say how big the actual shop floor is but it's big. There must be a couple of hundred individual pews, rifles and pistols, on display along with every else imaginable. Well, everything else imaginable for airsoft! There are mostly 2 of each showing different colour options and all are free to be picked up and tried on for size. The staff were really nice, if not a little full on with following you around and offering help, and said if there's any that we want to try they will load it up and you can have a go in the indoor range. The indoor range is very nice, only about 10 metres long but with 3 or 4 individual bays, and paper and electronic targets to shoot at. There's not as lot of parking on site and when it's busy you will struggle as it on a small.industrial estate next door to a gym but don't let that put you off. Oh, and there's a pool table, comfy sofas and I'm sure I saw a coffee machine. 😁

  3. Absolutely no way will a camelbak be ruptured from a bb hit. It's inside a cordura sleeve and then it's put into a back pack compartment but even so have you tried to pop a balloon with a bb? It's not easy. Lol

Decided the TM AKM GBB needed real Soviet AKM wooden furniture adding. After a lot of swearing, it's now fitted.

  5. Obliterated, available on Netflix. The premise: a super-special-spy-forces team catches a badman with a suitcase nuke in Las Vegas, goes partying to celebrate, then are suddenly called back on duty when it turns out the real snuke is still out there. The execution: balls-and-cocks-and-boobs to the wall gloriously unapologetic drink-and-drug fuelled amoral uncensored scatological fun that has a great time playing with the genre tropes and character archetypes, edging fnar on parody. I mean, main guy is called "Chad McNight", and their inexperienced Tech Girl is "Maya Lerner". I put off watching this for ages because it looked so dumb that I assumed I'd hate it, but it turns out that "Don't think about it, just crack open a beer or four and enjoy it with us" is the whole point. Does it make sense? Not a bit. Is it funny? Eh, sort of. Can the cast act? Just barely, but wow, they're committed to it, and easy on the eye. Is the gunplay or fighting realistic in any way? Oh, no, not at all. But if sub-plots like "We need to find some hookers, because they'll have meth to wake up Bomb Guy from a ketamine coma" appeals, fill your boobs. I mean, boots.

  6. Unless you're doing a milsim or playing at a site that has multi-hour games, then I think a camelback is overkill for airsoft. If you're going to drink that weight of water, put it inside you before each game, rather than hauling around extra weight (and insulation). I say this as the owner of a camelback that I used once for a filmsim, and never again.

  9. Ohhhh no we haven't. The law is an ass. Spot the firearm, the firearm-but-different, and the not-a-firearm-but-only-for-the-purpose-of-the-firearms-act firearm here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a used air-gun sale (outside of Scotchland) is not covered by statute or regulation, right? So you could bump the power up to airgun levels and sell without a defence? 2.5J single/semi = airsoft RIF, offence to sell 2.6J single/semi = air-gun, age restricted only (But of course 1.31J auto = machine gun) Make it make sense.

  10. The VCRA fine is the same whether it’s an individual or retailer. A retailer could get multiple incidents brought in and potentially a total of more fines on scale of transactions Both private seller and retailer could use any of those, there’s no legally required record under the VCRA, just the potential risk that it may be necessary to defend your sales in court as to reasonably believing the buyer had a defence as defined Exactly Different beasts and different laws I would say that an air rifle is a low powered air weapon, which is within firearms legislation and therefore a firearm. An identical air rifle to a RIF would not be an IF or RIF in my interpretaton (because it’s not an imitation if it’s already a firearm) But case law has happened. An air rifle that had the look of a ‘real’ firearm has been found in court to be a RIF @Rogerborgand I have have discussed our differing interpretations on this many times. Case law took place placing the interpretation on that side There is no longer any irony in this, and based on that case law lookalike / replica air weapon sales ought to take into account the VCRA as well

  11. Just got back from the first (and most likely only) night game of the season, took the opportunity to try out the new 5" abomination and the new thermal optic. I'm genuinely impressed by the rifle, I didn't expect such degree of consistency from such a short barrel, in many occasions I literally threaded the needle by making silly shots through tiny gaps in the foliage. Thermal delivered as expected, maybe a bit too much at first as the screen was overwhelmed by heated rocks and roots that had sat under the sun all day, making the image a bit confused, but once we went deeper in the woods where the sun didn't roast the ground as much.... Well.... It kinda felt like cheating, in one game I completely mopped the floor with the attackers, spotting them from far away and letting off small bursts when they were in range.. so much so that in the last two games I didn't even turn it on as it didn't feel right to be the only one who could see.. In any case, I will use it again next time, gotta understand and exploit its potential and most important, its limitations in different scenarios. One thing I didn't do (not on purpose) was to take some time and teach new people how to approach night games, while it's preferable to not walk on clear paths during daytime, at night it's the opposite, way less noise generated and unless skylining it's very difficult to actually see someone without nods/thermal/torches.. Kit used: Belt kit Small pack Lightweight summer hiking trousers Short sleeve shirt

  12. The law is very clear, selling an RIF is illegal unless you have sufficient evidence of defence. It does not matter if you are a retailer or a private seller on a forum, the law is exactly the same. UKARA is just one example of evidence of defence. You can choose to use something else other than UKARA to be your evidence of defence. But UKARA is most commonly used. (It has absolutely nothing to do with any duty of care / negligence, which is a civil matter. Meanwhile the VCRA offence is a criminal matter.)

  17. Oi, even I know not to use it in game. Says he who has 2GBBR's, an AEG & 3 gas pistols ready for tomorrow & a total of 7x Scar-H gas mags, 12x M4gas mags, 4 hicap M4 mags & 5 gas mags for the pistols (not to carried all at once of course). All spread out through 2 sets of PLCE & a chest rig. just as well I'm not taking the bus.

  18. Hmm, I asked because I was wondering if the fin of the tappet plate could be slightly tight between the sector gear and the gearbox casing/bushing, causing it to be slow in moving forward; this could result in it being pulled back before it had time to move fully forward.

  22. Back at Fireball squadron today. As it was quite damp and cool it was really nice playing conditions in my opinion. Rocked up gopniked up and thought I was the coolest player on the field. ( I wasn’t but I can be delusional sometimes ). Was a great skirmish and really well marshalled which is something I guess I’m lucky to come to expect. Thanks to the bad influence of @gavinkempselli was hanging out my arse for most of the morning humping around what felt like a ton of AK but it’s glorious. Once I realised that how stupid I was being I switched over to a more manageable weighted rifle and spent a bit more time getting shot. (Bridge of the nose today, which didn’t hurt as much as I was expecting). Would highly recommend Fireball to anyone and it’s always nice escaping the house for a few hours and shooting people in bushes.

It will be the first outing for my TM Beretta M9 purchased from this very forum. I'm hoping it does me proud🙂 I will let you know 👍 Regards

  36. If it ever gets tested I have always wondered how the VCRA and the act of selling a RIF to someone over the age of 18 without a defence would hold up when the same person can purchase in some cases an identical looking Air Rifle without one.

    VFC M249 Thread

Welcome to the addiction that is the GBB M249 , they are soooo much fun ! Mine is still running completely stock internals and so far I'm getting away without the NPAS that I've got but not fitted yet. Although my local site does just work to the legal limits so I'm ok up to 1.3j . I had an issue with the gas block from the box mag popping loose (STANAG is absolutly fine) and the replacement mag catch has fixed that. It seems to be luck of the draw, some have had the issue, some have not. Stock hop is working fine for me, range is decent and it's hopping the .30's I run in all my GBBs easily and will go heavier. Not done the spring thingy mod as tbh I am happy with a bit of spraed in a support weapon. So far I've not had anything fail, so spares wise I've not bought any. However do make sure you follow the 'rules' on cocking it before installing the BB mag which reduces the chance of nozzle damage. I think we all only run one box mag at a time so dont need anything to carry another. The green gas box mag hold ALOT of gas, I've never emptied it in a game. Bear in mind it's limited ammo , so short bursts which also help cooldown .

  41. You can't buy from them direct I know, but they were awesome. I lost the magnet holder for my p90 perun mosfet. I couldn't find the part at a retailer so I contacted them directly. They sent me a magnet holder out free of charge. The first attempt was blocked by border force but it got to me on the 2nd attempt. They were very helpful and friendly throughout and they really didn't need to send me anything FOC. It was really nice of them I thought.

They are a good inch too long, probably a bit more. I think the thing with the 33g ones is that 'cos they are used for life vests suppliers feel they can charge more for them ! I'm looking into 25g ones to see if the thread size matches, if they do then 2 of those at a time should do the job. I might end up having to order a single one to try. I still plan to extend the box mag though so I can run the 88g ones . Will try and have a go at that next week. Strange about the loose pin, both of the pins in mine are very tight, I always have to tap the upper one out with a punch when I strip for cleaning. At least removing the stock completely is a pretty rare occurance.

I think I found out that this barrel crazy jet maple leaf is not good with maple leaf 60° mr.hop , just because the window cut is smaller that the rubber's nub , so that's is causing that misalignment. So I was bad advised about that 2 parts togheter

  44. Well, he was still limping about with a stick on Sunday! Speaking of which, cracking day at Red Alert! Took the new Gordy clone out for its first proper run and discovered that (at least on the 11.1v I was running it with) it doesn't like most of my midcaps but runs perfectly happily on a hicap. New tappet spring and delay chip for that one I think! The morning was a bit drizzly, but spirits were high, first game wasn't the usual infection style name game but rather the whole morning was a themed drug dealers/gun runners objective based taste of the Battlesim Lite style days. Great fun but a bit of advanced notice would have been appreciated so I could have brought some way of keeping hydrated for two hours out in the humid woods! We (Red team) won that one fairly convincingly, I took a tactical tumble running in to help cover an objective (no serious injuries other than pride, thankfully) but we managed to get ALL THE DRUGSSS!!!!!! After a rather lovely lunch of chicken curry, it was back to more regular short skirmish type games One including some MASSIVE cuddly toys). The knees finally cried enough after that so the last short game of the day was missed. A fair number left through the day (some kicky ball thing was on the telly apparently) but the day started out with 102 players. Decent play all round, decent marshalling (even from hopalong @Skullchewer) and I finally met @GAMBLE too!

New pew today 😁. Since using my lad's SSE18, I've wanted one for my ghillie rig, but I've decided to dual-purpose it for my cyberpunk CQB setup. The massive holo is a placeholder until my low-profile (red) red dot arrives, but I'm starting to get attached to it, whilst tactically sweeping my house over and over. The amplifier was primarily cosmetic but it definitely makes the pistol sound less anaemic. Also missing is a red flared mag well, as it was out of stock. She's ugly, but that's kind of the point. 😄 Once it's complete, the real project begins: Integral torch, using the foregrip cavity, and LED lighting in the rear carbine cavity... all for the cyberiness. 😄
