    The GBBR Pendulum

I've always compared airsoft R&D to cars. People always say "I would love a v8, with a manual gear box, RWD and being built by a British manufacturer." Then a company goes out and drops millions on R&D and makes one, and sells a grand total of 17. Meanwhile all the people who said they wanted one goes out and buys a VW Golf. Everyone says they want a tavor, or a some weird 80's gun used by JCVD in a movie that was only shown on Air Canada flights. But when DE released the Noveske which is another m4 in a fancy frock- people climbed over themselves to get one.

Will sellers please stop adding bucket list pews to the classifieds... I'm weak & my credit card is taking a hammering.

Yeah, but fuck me they were fun to drive. The best description I ever heard of a TVR was "they're like a kit car, but in reverse" because they disassemble themselves around you.

  4. Slight thread revival, but I've placed an order for batteries with Hobbyking today , and can confirm the shipping is from the UK (and only cost £2.62 postage for 2x batteries) - a good stock now of common airsoft sizes. At only £5.33 for a 1300mh stick Lipo, I'm rather happy....

Hi everyone hopefully this is the right place for this post (mods please move if needed) On 22 October I sent a payment to @Mrgrimcreamer for a Glock Pistol after he contacted me about a wanted listing i made on the forum. He sent me pictures of the pistol etc and then immediately cut comms once I sent payment by Paypal Goods and Services. Luckily I have ended up getting my money back from Paypal without issue as the seller never replied to me or Paypal when I escalated the dispute but I am aware he still has some items listed for sale.

Solder Flux/Paste is well worth having if you do regular soldering. I duno this brand but an example: Solder Flux Paste to Avoid Dry Joints - 20g: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools I have this one and this tin has lasted literally years: Fluxite Soldering Paste – Shepherd Miniatures Just dip the wire into it before soldering.

  14. Is it confirmed tomorrow?? Yeah I'll definitely watch it whenever it happens (praying it's not Saturday night or Sunday) Edit: This news item says Friday at 13:00 GMT Elon Musk might be a gigantic twat in many respects, but SpaceX is brilliant

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that. I got an ARP9 from them back in July, took 19 days to get here. Happy with the pew so maybe they have been hit by a bus!

    Greetings all!

I loathe Facebook with the white-hot passion of a thousand suns, but sites do love it as a way to announce things that maybe 1 in 10 of their players will ever see. ?

  19. Yeah, Yeah, I know... Got this today, not planning on ever skirmishing it which is just as well, the hand guard's a bit of a pain to remove if I needed to swop out the battery during a game.

I just soldered deans plugs off of the marui adapter to tamiya. Black/Box....Round/Red and Red is Positive. That's how I remember which one is which. That said, having the proper soldering iron/solder makes a huge difference. 7.4v 1300mah 20c lipo and I've never had issues with all the TM MP5 NGRS' that I had ran with. IIRC, the marui lipo battery is 7.4v 1500mah 35C.... Even with an FPS upgrade to +10-15%, one battery lasts me all day.

You can only get better ? My first attempt at soldering a deans connector onto a lipo saw me attaching the male half of the connector to the battery. I only realised as I took it out of the helping hands jig. Sparks and smoke prevailed. Oh how we laughed!☹️

I should add though, it did actually work for a short period and only failed due to my shoddy soldering. Not sure if I quite trust myself to put an MR30 onto a battery yet following this disastrous attempt ?

Hello & welcome! As has been said, find a local site and then check out their socials & ask if anyone can give you a lift if public transport doesn’t get you close enough. Get yourself a bag though, wandering around with a visible pew tends to raise a few eyebrows.

    About batteries

Tried hypermiling my Transit van once - fully loaded I got over 600 miles from it. That was the most boring week I can remember - I'll stick to my regular 290 - 320 miles per tank thank you very much.

    About batteries

It's probably like the good old 56mpg "urban cycle" figures from car manufacturers that are done with the engine out on a bench with a simulated load. Given a fixed load with a known current they possibly do come close (ish) to the numbers on the pack, but in actual use in an AEG? Not so much.

    About batteries

I suspect that it is more likely that the branders lie about the C ratings rather than the battery manufacturers, which is what I commented. I understand C ratings rather too well. Much of my current work is on alternative energy sources for transport; while I am more focussed on hydrogen, I have had to learn about battery technologies.

  35. More likely to be incompetence with a missed scan, ripped label etc. The possibility of pilfering remains but there’s plenty of scope for things to get lost among the system @EDcasehas hit the nail Pincer movement between WGC for UPS compensation and the police for a missing replica The former is what’s required The latter could result in a physical search & review of the internal detailed tracking points

  36. You say that like there's such a thing as a reputable airsoft retailer.
    1 point
  37. Urgh, thanks, but this does my head in. If you go to https://www.postoffice.co.uk/mail/what-can-i-send and check the PDF there, you get: Not a word about imitations, or compensation. That PDF tells you to go to the RoyalFail to get the "full list". So let's look there. https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/96/~/prohibited-and-restricted-items---advice-for-personal-customers But the "full list" page has not a word about firearms, or imitations, except to say that Section 5s are a no-no. It links back to the "brief overview" PDF above. I honestly don't think there is a single, clear, absolutely definitive list that you could use if push came to shove in a court. It's not even clear who you even have the contract with, and whose terms apply, if you were to (e.g.) send and pay for ParcelFarce delivery at a Post Office counter, versus getting a ParcelFarce pick up directly. Good to hear that standard compensation is up to £150, mind. Maybe, but I can't find a reference to them. In any case I'm talking specifically about what BBGuns4Less say about posting back to them. https://bbguns4less.co.uk/pages/Posting-back-to-us.html Of course, it's not their problem if it goes missing or gets destroyed or seized on the way back. Except maybe it is, since they 1) recommend Evri, and 2) say they won't compensate RoyalFail / ParcelFarce fees, only Evri fees. What's the truth here? It's enough to drive a Borg to drink.

  38. Bingo. Ultimately, WGC can claim their money back from UPS, you can't. Your claim is against WGC. I wouldn't go into detail or nuance, just "UPS have lost your goods, so I need my money back". Let them argue it out. If you get any sort of runaround, initiate a chargeback with your bank or card handler. This itself takes weeks to complete and you can cancel the process at any time, so the sooner you get it started the better. I've found that initiating it results in retailers suddenly getting their thumb out.

  39. Maybe get WGCshop on the case, while we're all responsible for customs charges etc, that's not the issue here, sounds more like ups have lost it, & WGC have the contract with ups, not you, so let them put the boot in, on the understanding that you've been patient enough, & you'll be claiming for a refund or replacement in 7 days (hopefully your funding source will still honour it if it's not dragged on for too long?)
    1 point
  40. Sorry to hear. Only think I can suggest is next time you call someone at UPS tell them you'll have to inform the Police as the item is a replica firearm and its disappearance may have to be investigated by them.

    Tell Us a Gag. Please!

A blonde woman walks into an ice cream shop and asks for a chocolate shake. The employee says, “Sorry miss but we are all out of chocolate. We have vanilla and strawberry.” She says, “Oh, ok then I’ll have a scoop of chocolate.” “Sorry, but there is no chocolate. Only vanilla and strawberry.” She thinks about it and then says, “Ok, then I’ll have a chocolate cone.” Frustrated, the kid behind the counter tells her, “I’d like you to spell ‘van’, like in vanilla.” V-a-n. “Ok, now spell ‘straw’, like in strawberry” S-t-r-a-w. “Now, spell ‘fuck’, like in chocolate.” She thinks about it for a second and then says, “There’s no ‘fuck’ in chocolate.” “That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you! There’s no fuckin’ chocolate.”

  45. One of the advantages of a plastic toothed piston is that it can "settle in" when the AoE is not quite correct; this results in it looking a "little stripped". Another advantage is that only the piston dies if PME or one of a few other nasty things happens.

  46. Never soldering anything again. Made the connector, connected a battery, got a single shot off before nothing and the red LED. Switched batteries, emptied the rest of the magazine (3 round burst is my new favourite thing), then as I've disconnected it the MR30 has come off my connector and got itself stuck inside the one on the MP5. Dug it out with a pair of pliers, ordered one off Eagle 6. Link below. Also burnt myself with the soldering iron and dropped a scalpel onto my leg ? https://eagle6.co.uk/shop/catalog/product/view/id/7874/s/eaglesix-female-mr30-to-male-deans-adaptor-8cm/
