  1. Just had a look at that group, I'm certainly no expert but some of the "advice" given it on there is comedy gold. For example on how to lower the power on a hot AEG answers include use heavier bbs, cut the inner barrel down or buy an ICS with a quick change spring.

  2. Did a filmsim day at Gunman Tuddenham on Saturday. I really enjoy the fun, positive attitude that they have with their players, all about improving the game play in the field. Well delivered brief etc. The games were even in the structure of in game respawning off buddies, but one side was attacking and one side defending (with some great cover), so it became very stagnant, repetitive and energy sapping with 3-4 minutes of walking to get to the hard respawn and then the walk back in etc. It was only around lunch time when the respawn rules were changed to reflect one side was attacking for basically the whole day that the games actually developed the way they were intended and objectives achieved. As always, great hit taking and sportsmanship. I felt like I'd had it handed to me all day, I don't get to play as often as I'd like and feel out of the groove when I do get to play, same kit etc. Maybe its the larger waistline and lack of familiarity of how it all feels. It also cemented the ideas I have been having about my rifs and kit, so will be listing several pieces this week as I can't justify the money invested vs the amount I get to play and the experiences I have with it.

  3. I much prefer this particular thread when people talk about how their airsoft day went, you know? Let's me make an informed choice about where to try next. Gunman sounds a safe bet. However, I do get an immense amount of joy from seeing the brethren round on the ill-informed ramblings of an HPA-obsessed bed wetter, countering with logic and hard facts. And @Dan Robinsonget yourself a Delta Mike! Still stings if you take a shot to the grid (won't break the skin unless it's HPA though 🤥) but it beats leaving you with a smile like a witch doctor's necklace.

  6. Just to add to the mix AEG airsoft guns use HPA to propel the ball The electric motor etc compresses some air in a piston - at the operating pressure of the piston, and the piston then propels the BB An HPA airsoft gun takes a high pressure cylinder which can hold up to 3000psi/4500psi and outputs via its own regulator of something hundred PSI, then via an inline regulator drops to a lower operating pressure which then feeds the piston All of these points with pressurised air are a level of high pressure air

  7. It was an emergency appointment in Cambridge - took me an hour to get there - but I was just happy to get an appointment. I was also only expecting him to pull out either the whole tooth, or the flappy half. Not sure if this is a national number, but I called 0300 5556667 and they organised it as an emergency based on my postcode.

  8. Damnit, drawn back in by someone's quote of Hpahater. I'm not an hpa player. Aeg, bolt and gas. Mister Fantastic couldn't reach better. Gunman Tuddenham will be visited in September. Me and the other Outcasts will come see just how good it is. @Dan Robinson commiserations, dude. Hope it stays glued and healthy.

Oooh that Bisley is gorgeous Since we're on the subject of revolvers... Here's a King Arms SAA (one of the few gas revolvers I've seen. But only shoots about 240fps) All metal shells. BB goes at the top so can actually be loaded without taking out the rounds. Thanks to GazzaElite for this one 😉

  10. Nah - I'm stubbornly stupid like that. What are the chances of it happening to me? Well, after the fact - 1 in 1. Will be trying out a gumshield next week to see how I get on. I have had my skin broken many times by AEGs, Bolt actions at distances of 30m or more. So I have no idea what @AirSniperis wittering on about. Perhaps my flappy tooth is hate and scorn too @Cannonfodder?

  11. I'll take the bait. 1J of energy is 1J of energy, it doesn't matter if it's fired from an AEG, GBB, HPA or springer, it's still 1J of energy. I've seen teeth shattered from 1J hits at 30 metres, I've had BB shards get into in my eye the last time I used mesh (the gun was a stock TM recoil, so 0.8J) from 30 metres. HPA doesn't sting more than AEG given the energy output is the same, if you think so then I suggest to read a physics book of your choice.

  12. I'd been a bit disenchanted the last couple of times I went to my usual site, lots of moaning players which pulls the mood down and then I got one of my front teeth busted on a battlesim day which sucked. Wear a mask people! Anyway I'm pleased to report that yesterday was hugely enjoyable despite my team getting roughly handled throughout the day. We had quite a lot of timid players and no Major Pushup to encourage them! I took my new (I know) Specna Core M249 and was pleasantly surprised by it. I was able to suppress the other team pretty consistently though quite a lot of the time I was doing it so I could move as opposed to my team mates moving. It does lack enough range to compete with some of the better weapons on the field though which made advancing a little tricky at times. I wasn't quite prepared for the different weight distribution though, it got to be pretty hard work advancing with it shouldered. More time in the gym required Highlights include a classic YouTube "M249 SAW Destroys Enemy Team" style victory on defence against a crew of five or six that just couldn't move once I'd pinned them and I whittled them down one-by-one after that, I was then promptly shot obviously since I was loudly shouting for support that never came! I got a bush-wookie out from under a bush, my first sniper taken out too. In another first I crossed a path and started laying down fire from the safety of some ferns until the ferns stabbed me... I came back as quickly as I could and asked repeatedly if the sniper in the ferns was gone to a chorus of yeses even when I shot the bush to indicate here he was. I advanced back to where I was and the ferns shot me with a pistol... So despite being on the losing side all day I had a great day with some superb moments, no grumbling about hit taking or cheating this weekend which was good and a nice feeling of sportsmanship endured

  13. My son (11) and I went to our first skirmish on Sunday. We had a blast and are thinking of taking this up as a hobby. We’ve got lots of questions but will browse the site before asking something that’s probably been asked a million times. We are going to go a few more time to make sure it’s for us before buying kit but any advice on what should be first on the list is welcome! I’ve got camo clothing on order, my son’s already got some. Thanks for reading

  15. Hi, @Reef! 👋 Great to hear you had a blast! Absolutely appreciate you looking before asking the same things -- something that can be quite rate in these parts! Forum folks are friendly though, so if there's anything you're unsure of or hasn't been covered before, don't be afraid to ask Seeing how you do for a few skirmishes is the best way - some folk rush into buying a bunch of kit right away, then find after a while either that airsoft isn't really for them, or that the kit they grabbed initially, wasn't really what they ended up wanting to use. I'd say eye protection is probably the first and most important thing you need -- decent stuff (you don't want it to fail!), and a full-face mask for your son (a number of sites won't let u18's use less than full face pro). For you, I'd say some kind of lower mask or other face pro is also worthwhile -- while you don't want to lose your sight, you also don't want to risk losing your teeth! It's personal preferences but @Dan Robinson can let you know how "it'll never happen to me" can end 😅 PPE aside, decent footwear helps - whether you fancy combat boots or even just hiking/walking boots, generally something a little more supportive will serve you well. Pew-wise (if/when the time comes)... it's a bit of a trope for folk to rush in to get a sniper rifle, or decide a pistol will be all they need -- then later regret those choices. Plenty "what should my first gun be" etc. posts around ☺️ Thanks for a great first post, and welcome to AFUK! ~TW

  19. To be fair, once I found one this morning, the dentist only charged £25 to stick it back on and take an x-ray. Have to go back in a month to see if its still "alive" otherwise it will be a crown or an implant. Gave me a prescription for some super strong pain killers too. So happy days (ahem).

  21. Almost my biggest fear of playing airsoft! I wear a Delta Mike just because it's more breathable and doesn't cause condensation on the mouth protection like most other metal mesh mouth protection does. It still hurts getting shot in the cheek/side of the face though!

  22. So calling you out on your bullshit is "hate and scorn" now? I think you need to grow a thicker skin, and not just to protect yourself from those nasty HPA fired bbs. Wrong again. 1.1j is 1.1j no matter if it's fired from a HPA, GBB, AEG or McDonalds straw. It's heavier weight bbs that bleed off energy slower and has nothing to do with the power source. This is why heavier bbs give a better range across all platforms. This is basic secondary school level physics Considering I don't own any HPA guns that's another assumption of yours which is wrong

  23. Cracking Sunday morning at Driver Wood, introduced a mate and his son to the game - I suspect that it won't be their last! Circa 100 players, 20%(ish) rentals, and really good game play. I had a three moments where I had managed to get behind the opposition, and shoot 5 or 6 of them in the back before they worked out what was happening, including 10 seconds before the last game ended. Good hearted congratulations and fist bumps from them all round really added to my enjoyment of the day, and hammers home just how worthwhile it is to dish out the praise when someone pulls off a good move, a tricky shot, or manages to drop a Mk5 right next to you! I played with my first RIF - an ancient Cyma AK 028, picked up second hand a few years ago for £40, and given a new piston and rack. The thing absolutely rocked, and truth be told, started to put the Cyma SR25 in the shade....

  25. And I seriously doubt that was from that distance. As others have posted, either take up your concerns with the staff on site or play at another site. Just moaning online doesn't help sort out the problem (if there is one) and tbh just makes you look like a whiny little bitch desperate for attention. Also, I'll ask again. What are your sources for the claim that Anzio is looking at lower power limits for HPA guns?

  26. *looks at HPA m21* Huh... I never knew that I, as a (sometimes) HPA player, have that sort of attitude. This is news to me, thank you for educating me on how I think, how I have a bad attitude and pointing out my short-sightedness. Also thank you for showing me that I actually have two right shoulders. I can easily fire my HPA m21 from both shoulders and originally thought that meant I could shoot from both my left and right shoulder, but now it makes so much more sense knowing I don't have a left shoulder, just two right shoulders.

  27. Finally we get to the bottom of all this, your issue isn't HPA ... it's that some people are dicks. Got some bad news for you, there are dicks everywhere, some of them even use AEGs and not all of them drive BMW's and Audi's either. Can we get back to talking about people having fun now?

  28. This about sums up this guy. Just a stream of repeated bollocks. Finally putting him on ignore, because he keeps trying to turn this thread into his personal gripe thread, despite having created threads specifically for the topic. I'd rather read about game days that people can write about objectively. At the site you play at. Everyone keeps telling you to play elsewhere.

  31. (((( Just a clarification following from a PM )))) My post is being pedantic about the final compressed air in the piston An AEG airsoft gun compresses air while you operate it An HPA airsoft gun is provided with pre-compressed air from the external HPA cylinder

  32. The barrel is difficult to tell. I would work out the other issues and make sure everything is clean and stable before judging the barrel quality. A quick polish can do wonders. DIY stabilization of the unit, hop arm, barrel, etc, will do even more. And a new hop rubber is cheaper and more cost effective than a new barrel (In general. A bad barrel will still ruin your accuracy even if everything else is great.) POM piston head - good replacement. It'll be more durable than stock if you ever want to increase your power or speed. Double seal cylinder head - nothing wrong with this, but it's worth noting that being plastic does not make a cylinder head bad in any way. The seal makes it bad or good. In fact, plastic cylinder heads actually deal with shock from the piston better and help you avoid gearbox cracking. Double seal nozzle - this seal never comes into play. Whether the nozzle is actually better or not depends on how wobbly the stock one was on the nozzle tube. In fact, many "aftermarket upgrade" nozzles will have bad tolerances with various nozzle tubes (inconsistent specs) and be worse than the stock nozzle. 4/5 cylinder - for a very detailed discussion of cylinder volume ratios, head over to Airsoft Sniper Forum and start reading the "Long Range AEGs" stickied threads. For a quick explanation, there is no "best" answer here. If your cylinder has too little volume, you'll lose power due to barrel suck (vacuum forming behind the BB). However, if the cylinder has too MUCH volume, you lose nothing--the RIF is just louder. Ideal volume also depends on weight. Heavier BBs use up more air, because they absorb more energy to achieve the same velocity. For a 320mm barrel using .20g BBs, you could get away with a cylinder smaller than 1/2. However, your stock cylinder is just fine, as it gives you extra air, allowing you to run, say, .36g without losing power. Overall, there's not much point to changing your full cylinder unless you're trying to quiet the RIF's barrel noise. This is not an exact science, and we have leeway on what voluming choices to go with, hence why most carbine length RIFs come with a 3/4 cylinder, which both sounds reasonable and allows you to run .20g-.30g from 300mm to 380mm. As a general rule, anything Evike lists as theirs under "EMG" or their other house brands is bad or overpriced for some reason or other. Even the Cyma Platinum line, while in most cases excellent, has it's share of weaknesses, and inflated prices. I actually own a similar RIF with much the same internals, except mine has performed excellently through the fire and flames. It's one of the older Dytac models without all the fancy branding and receiver design, but the meat and potatoes are the same. As this model of gearbox has been made for years, it's very possible you have a years-old gearbox in a much newer shell. Ah, gotta love airsoft QC and inconsistency. You clearly needed some replacement o-rings on the cylinder head and piston head, but as a general note, testing compression with the nozzle on is a false test. Because pressure flows in one direction, an o-ring on the nozzle only comes into play in case of a blockage on the end of the nozzle. In this case, your finger. Otherwise, nozzles without o-rings seal perfectly fine (Krytac). O-rings were introduced because of bad tolerances between nozzle tubes and the nozzle causing wobble.

  33. How? Explain the physics that supports that statement. I also think you mean energy rather than power. Around 313FPS What is "Joule power"? Joules are a unit of measurement of energy, not power.

I had nothing but dissapointment with mine, but I hope you have a better experience. Lots of the 1st gen ones appear to have been made with the barrel out of line with the cylinder resulting in innacuracy and topsspin being applied to the bb. It's also a clone of the Marushin SAA if you ever need to find bits for it. The tanakas have their gas inside the cylinder, don't take shells but you load through the front. They have a hop and shoot with a bit more poke than the king arms or marushin. I do thoroughly reccomend one if you like revolvers.

  39. I can confirm that getting your teeth damaged is a massive inconvenience for sure. In my case it wasn't painful luckily, though Dan's sounds like it was much worse. We had two teenage rental players without their masks on at all at one point on Sunday, needless to say everyone 'encouraged' them to put their gear back on ASAP..

  40. I've been playing for around 11 years now, I've done lots of big weekend events, pretty much every skirmish site within 2 hours of me and it's consistently good. The site is great (like there are buildings, woodland, scrub, trenches etc) but it's the attitude of the people running it that matters really make it consistently good. Gunman own it, but the site managers have a huge impact on it, over the years it's been up and down. It's on a big upward trajectory at the moment.

  41. Welcome to the forums. You don't state where you are based - so I'll assume UK. My notes: - Don't replace the barrel yet (I don't think the AEP barrel will work anyway). The TopTech stock barrel is decent enough - just give it a good clean for now. - Start with replacing the hop rubber and nub and see how it performs: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-buckings-nubs/maple-leaf-macaron-60-nub - This gun uses the older-style G&G hop unit, which isn't bad, just a bit outdated - maybe later replace it later with a ZCI Plastic rotary unit (when back in stock): https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-chambers/zci-rotary-hopup-chamber-plastic-m4 - Chrongraph your gun before and after any upgrades. There's a good chance that as-is, your gun will struggle to hit 300fps (TopTechs of this era were 1j/328fps from the factory to UK shores but often were below that). - Consider a longer inner barrel/mock suppressor if you need to get the FPS up - the very short barrel means that the gun is over-volumised (hence the noise) which means a good deal of air is wasted in the firing cycle. A longer barrel will make use of that extra air and provide additional FPS as a result. None of the above involves opening the gearbox. If the gun shoots well enough after the above, then happy days. Given that the gun hasn't been used in some time, here are some other things to consider next if you are having any performance problems: - If you are confident on opening the gearbox - clean and relube, particularly the compression parts (Piston, Piston Head, Cylinder and Cylinder head etc.) - Replace the piston and cylinder head O-rings - Important Inspect the gearbox casing for any cracks around the front/Blowback port - Toptechs are notorious for this (example below). You can do this to some extent without taking the gearbox out of the lower receiver: - Inspect the gears for any wear/damage - Inspect the piston rack for any damage to the teeth (G&G Pistons aren't great) I'm sure others will chime in shortly, but my advice is to keep it simple (and cheap) to start with.

    ETU to fit an AEG

It isn't particularly difficult to install. What you have in the G&Gs is irrelevant unless you want to try to install a G&G ETU and Perun ETU++ in the SA, which may or may not work and would be a very expensive approach.

  45. Why would HPA make any difference in the size of welt your getting? There’s literally no difference in how they behave when compared to a well tuned AEG / GBBR. If your concerned about them fiddling with the power, call the marshals out on it, it’s their job to keep everybody within limits.
