Is it a new gun? Has this just started happening? Possibilities include: The barrel being slightly twisted in the hop unit. The bump in the rubber should be at the top dead centre position, not slightly off to one side. The hop nub being slightly off centre or misshapen. The inner barrel not being utterly straight; take it out and roll it on a flat surface to check. The inner barrel being dirty. Your gun being an StG 44 with a Krummlauf.

    What have you made?

My purchase of the famous Austrians Plate Carrier presented me with a slight problem. MK5 Thunderflash don’t easily fit in the fancy laser cut MOLLE (although Mk4 Osprey pouches fit like a glove!!) so I had to come up with a solution. I jumped into Fusion 360 and designed a holder for 4 thunder flashes and can be Velcro attached to where ever there is spare Velcro on the PC. 3D printed in black and then tensioned with shock cord. Very pleased with my invention (although I did get the original idea from a post on this very forum, sorry can’t find the original poster, thanks for the idea anyway).

I've had plenty of trouble with ML Omega nubs not being centered 100% correctly, even slightly off gives a left or right curve that becomes more pronounced when shooting at distance (I need to tweaks my son's RIF again before we next play due to this). I went the nuclear option to say goodbye to this forever, with a Maxx Model M4A-PRO hop unit and the solid metal nub which acts like a TDC.

  5. I love that site! It's a really good CQB site with a very good briefing in the café. You're in good hands. The safe zone where you mill about with unloaded rifs and chat with the other chaps and chapesses is around the back of the place. Find the tank and head North. Look for the smokers hovering at the entrance to the wooden building and you're there. Ask them where the sign in place is. If they are not there, just look for the sign to your right. A very mellow chap called Sean IIRC will answer any questions that you have, and give you a waiver to sign. If I go myself, I'll send you a PM. I was talking about going with the lad the other day. The games are well thought out and the gameplay is good. Ask a marshal if you need advice. There are a few ex-Royal Anglians who play as a team who go regularly. They are a very friendly bunch, as are most of the people I've met there over the years. The games are short fast and furious. Flanking is king. In CQB shoot first and identify later.

All members above are spot on. I fitted a new zci barrel, ML hop and omega nub to a brand new g&g sr15 e3 mod2 (which was in hindsight really didn't need upgrading). The omega was an absolute nightmare to set up. But once it seated just how I wanted it to the bb's are not like lasers as that's impossible, but they're no longer swerving like a 10 bob flyaway football.

Aye the ml buckings are super sensitive to being setup properly square, worth it though. I find the non-maple leaf nubs can be off-square although the proper ones are generally pretty good. Ofc that only helps when the hop unit/arm is capable of holding the nub and barrel square in the first place.

Mmm, the tiniest amount of barrel rotation can cause this, and the keying provided by the c-clip is only approximate. It's a wonder that more guns don't suffer from it.

    What optic for an LMG

Depends on the platform. If its a M249 or equivalent then ice always used an elcan. If its a mk23, stoner, strike kit or alike. Then a simple red dot or eotech. Anything bigger I used either a specter DR 4x or eventually found a specter 6x 7.62 version.

I had this on a PPSh. The BBs were clipping the outer barrel. If you shoot a few into a bucket of water you can see if they've deformed/chipped by clipping something. It's an easy way to eliminate something at least.

In Brief In full working order, this WE Apache MP5 package potentially comes with everything you need to skirmish, plus extras to customise your RIF. Pricing details just below, read on further down for detailed descriptions. Collection would be preferred from Hinckley in Leicestershire, as this is a heavy old package. Also gives the buyer the chance to see the RIF before buying, and have a brief tutorial with me. Would consider meeting someone halfway if it helps, location depending. Pricing and extras Apache MP5 with one mag ~ £350 (Boxed with solid stock, standard handguard, upgraded barrel and bucking, spares, and 1 magazine only) Extra Magazines +£50 each (4 extra mags available, to make 5 in total) Collapsible Stock +£90 (as new) Genuine Surefire Torch Handguard +£250 *** SOLD *** I’m perfectly happy for you to pick and mix whatever you want from the above list. Whatever is left after the RIF is sold, I will sell individually thereafter. Providence I bought this RIF around 18 months ago from another member of this forum, and I’ve used it well over that time. The sticker on the box shows the RIF was originally bought from Zero One Airsoft in the UK. It has been well maintained and upgraded a little internally, but does show cosmetic signs of use. I prefer a RIF to look used anyway, personally. Upgrades This MP5 is fitted with a Poseidon stainless barrel (very similar concept to Maple Leaf Crazy Jet) with a Maple Leaf Decepticon 60* bucking. It has also had a brand new OEM hop chamber installed at the same time. The result is that the RIF will lift 0.40s comfortably, and I’d recommend using 0.30s minimum. Personally, I’ve been running it on Nuprol 0.32 RZRs, which require only a small turn of the hop to lift nicely. It will send 0.20 and 0.25s into the sky on zero hop, so don’t bother with lightweight BBs. Maintenance The RIF had a brand new bolt carrier group in the last 6 months with low pressure nozzle (for UK fps limit). Comes with spare nozzles and nozzle components, as the RIF will chew through a nozzle if you’re not careful with cool-down effect on a colder day. I’d generally recommend sticking with Semi-Auto to keep things snappy and smooth - although burst and auto work, they will induce the cool-down effect fairly rapidly. (See videos on YouTube for reviews about this RIF). Expect the RIF to be shooting right on the UK joule limit with green gas, temperature/gas brand/BBs depending of course. Magazines 5 available in total. They are all the newer V2 45-round version. They’ve all had replacement feed lips recently. Package also comes with a Lees Precision O-Ring kit which is good to fully rebuild two magazines. At the moment they’re all gas tight and leak free. Also included are some spare bolt stop levers, as these can snap if you release the follower accidentally when loading the mag. Surefire 628 Torch Handguard This is a genuine ex-issue Surefire torch handguard, which I managed to find in a non-airsoft related Militaria shop. I’ve converted this from the dim old halogen with an LED internal drop-in light head. Powered by 2xCR123 batteries. Full working order. Comes with a momentary pressure switch on the right and a constant on/off on the left. Fits the Apache perfectly. Lots of wear on the metal torch body, including scorch marks from muzzle flash. The handguard itself is in great condition. Collapsible Stock Bought and imported very recently from KY Airsoft, this is basically as-new condition.

I've had this, it was a torn hop rubber, a flap of rubber was impinging on the bore and causing a second hop effect. Otherwise, it could be a misaligned barrel / hop unit, though I think that's unlikely given the way the barrels I've seen are put together.

  25. I'd ask whoever you're planning to buy it from. If it's used then they'd be able to say 'I use this ...' and if it's new then the shop should have a good idea and may even test fit one if you ask nicely or are buying it from them too.
