No game for me this weekend, as I had other stuff on today, however; yesterday we spent the day creating a new paintball arena for kids parties at Red Alert, much further away from the Airsoft areas. This means there will be fewer occasions when a boundary is determined by where the kiddiwinks are splatting each other. So bigger game area more often, with potential for other stuff we're not allowed to talk about yet 😁2 points -

A build in progress. Transplanting an AUG hop unit into my S&T M249. I've had feeding issues and low power in it right from day one so decided to try this before I retire and replace it. More work to do yet, but as of today I've got it feeding and the power level is up. I fitted an adjustable nozzle which I'll need to dial in fully yet. Planning to give it a shake down at the next game day to see how it performs.2 points -

The organs of the human body were debating as to who should be the boss. The brain said that as he did all the thinking and controlled every part of the body, he should be the boss. The heart said that as the body could not live without the blood circulation he provided, he should be the boss. The stomach said that he digested all the food and gave the body energy, so he should be the boss. All other organs made their cases similarly. Then the asshole applied for the post. The other organs laughed so loudly that the ass hole got angry and shut himself. Within a couple of days the stomach got sick, the brain went fuzzy, the heart developed palpitations and every other organ began shutting down. The organs learned their lesson. They all got together and elected the ass hole as boss. Moral of the story: You don’t need to be the brain or the brawn to be the boss, you only need to be an ass hole.2 points -

Today I wandered over to Tower Airsoft, one of my regular sites; it was an opportunity to test the recently, and not completely, rebuilt VZ58. On its first outing a few weeks ago, it had a range of about 25m and was shooting 0.25g BBs at 230FPS; it also performed the classic Ares trick of pulling the back off the piston. It is now shooting at 295FPS on a 0.25g BB and has a range of around 60m:). I also ran my MP5, which has crazy range. It was a typical Tower day; around 45-50 people and simple but challenging games that used the small site very well. I met some interesting folk and had some good conversations. There were two highlights. The first was in a fallback game, in the first stage of which we had to defend the village, where we had one life, before falling back to defend the bridge complex, again with one life. After a hard fought defence of the village, the attacking team declared it cleared and moved on to attack the bridge complex. After allowing a minute, I carefully crawled out of the bush that I had ended up in and cautiously followed them as they moved forward. As I cleared the edge of the village another blue player, who had also been overlooked, appeared. We had great fun shooting the opposing team in their backs, sniggering while receiving shouts of "Oi! We're on the same side!" The second was in the last game of the day. I was dug in behind the roots of a fallen tree, popping off opposing players as they appeared; after a while all went quiet until I heard movement behind me. Drawing my pistol and turning around carefully, I found myself looking at a deer that was about 5m behind me; it beat a rapid retreat. On arriving home, I found the real steel folding stock for the VZ58 waiting for me (Many thanks to @CzechMeOut!) and its new motor.2 points -

This is absolutely true. Every time we're heading out to field, with everyone fully kitted and carrying their overly pimped RIFs, you can see the kids in the paintball prep area all staring enviously. Just don't tell them about magfed paintball 🤫1 point -

Custom Pistol Build Thread
k.a reacted to frontsight for a topic
Took almost a year and a lot of planning to source everything, but finally finished my grail build - the Springfield Armory Professional ---------------------------------------------- Fun fact : The late-model versions of the MEU such as the Tokyo Marui or Guarder replicas are based on this version of the 1911. The USMC took base model Springfield Professional models and modified it to fit their own requirements. These included things such as adding the lanyard loop and forward slide serrations. The photo below of an actual MEU pistol shows how the slide sports the forward serrations added by the USMC's armorers, which was cut over the "custom shop" lettering from the Springfield factory. Another interesting thing is that the slide and frame seem to be a different color. This was because the frame was the original "Black-T" finish from the factory, while the slide was refinished/parkerized after cutting the front slide serrations. I really wanted the original professional model (RS example, left), but the only similar option available without the front slide serrations was the Guarder Bureau model (RS example, right). They both are essentially the same gun, but the latter was a marketing ploy by Springfield after they won the contract for the FBI HRT's sidearm. They slathered a bunch of FBI lettering and even used FBI in the serial numbers to really let you know this was a cool gun chosen by the FBI. After about 40 or so of these were manufactured and sold as the "Bureau Model" the FBI put a hard stop for their name being used in branding. Due to this, these were extremely rare, and the RS ones can go for 5,000+ USD; I assume that Guarder chose to produce the Bureau Model instead of the bare-bones Professional due to this rarity and backstory. But still, I really wanted the original model since both the USMC's MEU and the FBI's "Bureau Model" both were based on the Professional. Which brings us back to the fun fact in the first photo: The MEU is the Professional model, with forward serrations added - This gave me an idea. If the forward serrations were skipped from being added on Guarder's MEU slide, it would be exactly what I wanted. So I pitched this idea to Guarder, with fingers crossed that they would accept something like this. And by some miracle, they accepted to do the custom order! And here it is! The only airsoft SFA professional. It was such a long project to complete I now can't exactly remember why I wanted a Professional in the first place, but extremely happy on how it came out. Everything is correct to original Pro model specs, but I never could source the magwell.. Any SOA fans out there? While researching for this project I found that Jax teller's main sidearm was also a Professional1 point -
Yes I’d be very interested to see what turns up1 point

holographic sight options for TM M4 MWS?
RobHedley reacted to Emergencychimps for a topic
Does it have to be holographic? For that budget (£300-£400 end) you should be able to get a nv 552 eotech or an aimpoint like an m2 second hand. Personally though I think they're overkill for airsoft, even if you do events on a regular basis. I'd recommend vortex, the cross fire red dot is good and versatile, their warranty is apparently awesome (not had to use) and you won't be able to get repairs on a legit eotech or aimpoint (at least not easily). Holosun do some great options as well. For these you're looking £150-200 ish. They're for real rifles so recoil won't be an issue, they have a warranty and NV modes ( if that's important). Tactical kit is one of many UK retailers. The holy warrior clones are the best clones I've seen, good on bright days, have NV modes and seem to work well. NV modes can be a little bright (based on the eotech XPS I have). Tactical waffles is the only UK reseller I know of, devt team six sell them from Europe or you can get them direct from Ali express but post takes a few weeks. Cheaper, good enough but not perfect.1 point -

Got some Shadow Foam from Airsoft Anonymous. For the top layer of the extra large case I bought some velcro straps from Amazon, cut slots for them then glued the whole thing into the lid with a strong foam adhesive. I have a foam layer that sits in the middle when the case is shut. Decided to try something fancy for the other lid. The triskelion came out a bit wonky, but overall I'm very happy.1 point -
