  1. So basically when buying from European Union shops, it seems as if: If you buy something under £135, you get charged a 20% surplus when purchasing (so a £100 item would cost £120) If you buy something over £135, you don't get charged a 20% surplus when purchasing BUT your shipment MIGHT be stopped at UK customs and charged a 40% import fee (so a £200 item would cost £280) Is that correct? I know it's all theoretical now until we have more actual cases of people buying stuff from EU-based shops, so hopefully people will be able to update us with first-hand experiences soon. 🙂

  2. I don’t know what you mean there 👀😁 Seeing as your goal in this venture was to learn to tech, you kinda went backwards. First off use the standard tappet plate, nozzle, hop unit and bucking, this eliminates MANY variables. Below 230mm barrel length you’re going to want to be at least one spring power rating higher than the spring is advertised as. Next up as mentioned, you’re losing 15 FPS per SS tooth too. Personally I haven’t used that motor, and you haven’t said what battery your on - but you don’t normally need to short stroke with a ‘torque’ motor on 12:1 ratio. You say compression is excellent, is that to say the piston stops dead and rock hard a gnat’s cock past the cylinder port? Also as @Sitting Duck said, always check the piston is free when changing from standard, and “maths, suggestions & bollocks aside, you need to go back and check EVERYTHING very very closely”

    Brexit Import Taxes

Up to £135 the overseas seller is to register for UK VAT, charge for it at point of sale and pay it to HMRC Over £135 they do nothing extra, on arrival at customs you owe import VAT, import duty depending on item category and extra handling fees. The over £135 element is as per non EU sales in the past. The under £135 requirement for overseas sellers to handle VAT coincides with Brexit but was coming anyway

    Brexit Import Taxes

No VAT added at the basket/retailer stage for a £135+ order. This allows them to avoid registering with HMRC and paying a subscription in order to repatriate the VAT. £135+ order is treated just like a pre Brexit order from HK/US/Japan/non EU country. You run the risk of customs getting their grubby hands on it and slapping you with VAT and a clearance charge from the courier. Basically a way for EU shops to not get involved in any extra costs for them is what I gather. I believe tariffs will come into play at some point too but things seem up in the air during the transitional stage.

    THE TM MWS thread

Due to COVID I haven't had much of a chance to use the MWS but my initial thoughts are that the pull is lighter AND smoother with none of the notchy feel the original (and rather well used!) parts had. Break point is crisp and predictable, you can get a feel for pulling it to 80% of the way and holding it while deciding whether to pull off a shot or allow it to re-set. The parts were pricy but worth it and the quality of finish is a whole other level Lets hope come spring I can get back out to play and give it a full work over.

  11. I also found Guarder springs to be rather soft for what they're rated at, a SP100 gave me barely 1J on the striker and a SP90 got my old ARP (180mm inner) to barely 0.65/0.7J. Btw, SP and M ratings are done with different bb weights, M springs are supposed to give you the number (in m/s) on 0.20g bbs, so a M100 means 100 m/s on 0.2s, whereas the SP springs are measured with 0.25s, again a SP100 would give you 100 m/s on 0.25g (around 112 m/s on 0.20s). That's the theory anyway. Meanwhile a SHS M90 spring in the striker gave me 1.2J easy (300mm inner and a cylinder volume not far from a full v2 one), the same spring also gave me 110 m/s on 0.2s in my specna 933 (3/4 cylinder, 260mm inner). Most likely a combination of the two. Also you mentioned that utter POS ProShit hop unit, did you keep the same unit throughout the test? Or did you go and swap it at some point? IKR, the FCU is the main selling point of the whole line fucking TM recoil syndrome right there

My "stuff" was getting everywhere, so I picked up a cheap secondhand bookcase and turned it into a Airsoft storage unit 🙂

    What have you made?

A small selection of some of the stuff I make. I also do metal work but breastplates and chainmaille arent really relevant here though I do intend to make some aluminium sci fi body armour at some point.

  24. A thread adapter for one of my h8rs so I could plop a tracer on it. Made from a biro and stuff from my plumbing kit. Will paint the tracer unit to match the gun at some point, probably when I put a torch or laser on it.
