So - Does This Count as a RIF? Trigger Warning: Contains Speedsoft

Its not an RIF, its an ROF- Really Offensive Firearm I suppose credit where its due, it doesnt have a stupid double blade trigger and at least the design choices seem to be driven with good function over form. I dont like it, but i can see why a speedsofter would.3 points -

I find Facebook is a bit like my rota for work , I’ll be on it for a few days then I get a day off (read ban) Then I have another long run of days on , then I get another couple of days off , then every now and again I get 1 or 2wks off !😉 like today now I’ve got 3 days off simply for directing a reply to an America Covid denier who’d said the rioting was like the pandemic , all fake news and they weren't the trump supporters rioting in Washington , the protest had been ‘infiltrated’ by ANTIFA supporters and they where the ones who attacked the capitol building , so I said to him and I quote ; “Infiltrated by ANTIFA ? Are you mental ? All you can see in all the film and pictures are wall to wall inbred rednecks ! there’s not a greasy haired pimply faced skinny ass’ed middle class part time socialist kid to be seen anywhere ! You truly are a mongtard swallowing general bonespurs lies like a toothless 5$ Crack whore working on her knees !” End quote . Apparently that’s “bullying” and I got 3 days off ! Well there ya go , Who knew ? 😳3 points -
Brexit Import Taxes
Shamal and one other reacted to The Commander for a topic
So basically when buying from European Union shops, it seems as if: If you buy something under £135, you get charged a 20% surplus when purchasing (so a £100 item would cost £120) If you buy something over £135, you don't get charged a 20% surplus when purchasing BUT your shipment MIGHT be stopped at UK customs and charged a 40% import fee (so a £200 item would cost £280) Is that correct? I know it's all theoretical now until we have more actual cases of people buying stuff from EU-based shops, so hopefully people will be able to update us with first-hand experiences soon. 🙂2 points -

I don’t know what you mean there 👀😁 Seeing as your goal in this venture was to learn to tech, you kinda went backwards. First off use the standard tappet plate, nozzle, hop unit and bucking, this eliminates MANY variables. Below 230mm barrel length you’re going to want to be at least one spring power rating higher than the spring is advertised as. Next up as mentioned, you’re losing 15 FPS per SS tooth too. Personally I haven’t used that motor, and you haven’t said what battery your on - but you don’t normally need to short stroke with a ‘torque’ motor on 12:1 ratio. You say compression is excellent, is that to say the piston stops dead and rock hard a gnat’s cock past the cylinder port? Also as @Sitting Duck said, always check the piston is free when changing from standard, and “maths, suggestions & bollocks aside, you need to go back and check EVERYTHING very very closely”2 points

Those zci barrels are fantastic for the price, i second the reccommendation.2 points -
@ak2m4 has the ZCI 430mm and 450mm inner barrels in stock now, https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/inner-barrels/zci-inner-barrel-430mm, either of those will be fine. The Cyma barrel is...OK, but a better inner will help. It's not just the size of the bore but the quality of it that counts if you want to DMR and the Cyma barrels aren't great unless you spend some time polishing them. For £23 the ZCI I've linked to will be better. My Socom is still stock hop wise, the flat hop in the EBR hasn't caused me any issues with feeding so far but it's not been used all that much as it's a heavy old beast!2 points

So a pressure washer lance or garden watering attachment could be mistaken for a rif? They are in various colours. A short sighted, colour blind person could think they were firearms. I know I need a rif to play airsoft. If I'm not allowed a gun in the real and universally accepted guise of a gun then I will step down and take up bloody basket weaving! I play because I can dress up and run around like a nutter with a real looking gun.take that away and what's the point. Back me up guys......🙏 Regards So if I spray my dewalt drill black would that be a rif? If I point it at a plasterer at work they invariably throw their hands in the air and say dont shoot. 😉 Regards1 point

Up to £135 the overseas seller is to register for UK VAT, charge for it at point of sale and pay it to HMRC Over £135 they do nothing extra, on arrival at customs you owe import VAT, import duty depending on item category and extra handling fees. The over £135 element is as per non EU sales in the past. The under £135 requirement for overseas sellers to handle VAT coincides with Brexit but was coming anyway1 point

So - Does This Count as a RIF? Trigger Warning: Contains Speedsoft
GeorgePlaysAirsoft reacted to Cromulon1994 for a topic
I don't have an issue with it other than: Try making a rational argument to a politician/political group that we need RIFs to play airsoft when these are/become available. A platform specifically designed for airsoft use is always going to be superior to something based on a real firearm which has certain design compromises because it is a firearm. Imo community would split over the suspension of disbelief element as some would shoot themselves in the foot and decide it's fine as they don't need a RIF to play speedsoft or a walk on skirmish. I think the government will have another crack at airsoft sooner or later.1 point -

During initial installation the main thing that tends to need addressing is nozzle alignment. Often, but not always, you'll need to add shims to the outside of the gearbox casing/inside of the receiver to ensure the nozzle is sitting centred. Outside of that there is the potential for leaks, generally caused by loose fittings or dead o-rings. Then you're largely looking at issues with hop parts not marrying up... but that's no different to when you start playing around with the hop/barrel of any RIF. Ultimately that'll be entirely subjective based on the results you're wanting/expecting and how realistic those wants/expectations are, as mentioned above. Worth noting that these are 'general HPA things' to be aware of, not specific to installation on the specific RIF you've mentioned. There are a whole bunch of YouTube videos covering HPA installation so worth taking a look there if you haven't already.1 point

No VAT added at the basket/retailer stage for a £135+ order. This allows them to avoid registering with HMRC and paying a subscription in order to repatriate the VAT. £135+ order is treated just like a pre Brexit order from HK/US/Japan/non EU country. You run the risk of customs getting their grubby hands on it and slapping you with VAT and a clearance charge from the courier. Basically a way for EU shops to not get involved in any extra costs for them is what I gather. I believe tariffs will come into play at some point too but things seem up in the air during the transitional stage.1 point

Pistol Mag Release Mechanisms.
Skara reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
i think from the context i'd use "creep" as has been mentioned the 1911 style mag release is default resting position of a slight amount of tension with the catch being pushed out of the way during insertion and popping back. there might be slightly more tension with mag in compared to mag out but it's not enough to really cause worry (at least in the kind of timespans shorter than something else failing due to age)1 point -
12:1 Short Stroke Issues
Sitting Duck reacted to Skara for a topic
I also found Guarder springs to be rather soft for what they're rated at, a SP100 gave me barely 1J on the striker and a SP90 got my old ARP (180mm inner) to barely 0.65/0.7J. Btw, SP and M ratings are done with different bb weights, M springs are supposed to give you the number (in m/s) on 0.20g bbs, so a M100 means 100 m/s on 0.2s, whereas the SP springs are measured with 0.25s, again a SP100 would give you 100 m/s on 0.25g (around 112 m/s on 0.20s). That's the theory anyway. Meanwhile a SHS M90 spring in the striker gave me 1.2J easy (300mm inner and a cylinder volume not far from a full v2 one), the same spring also gave me 110 m/s on 0.2s in my specna 933 (3/4 cylinder, 260mm inner). Most likely a combination of the two. Also you mentioned that utter POS ProShit hop unit, did you keep the same unit throughout the test? Or did you go and swap it at some point? IKR, the FCU is the main selling point of the whole line fucking TM recoil syndrome right there1 point -

So Again I think you make great points and I’m not that knowledgeable about that period of British history to my discredit. The point I’m trying to make is you can’t judge a person by one picture their actions speak louder. I personally believe Corbyn was a informer to the Stasi and betrayed his country but there is no concrete evidence for that. Apologies for the massive tangent1 point -

I often do this, so get it. Especially now we can't play, I enjoy buying a gun and testing it out in the garden to see if it's something I want to add to my collection. If it takes a few weeks or a single skirmish to realise it doesn't, then I will sell it on pretty much "as new" I have a decent job and no kids, so I get to spend my money on things I find fun and/or interesting. Hopefully that clarifies.1 point -

Social Media like FaceBook etc... have purged so much stuff that they have ran out of things to complain about So much so, with each stage of purging they have less & less to be fully triggered about, so they have only the very very very slightly off-subject thinkers outside of the box left Suffice to say, just starting to question the FB belief or narrative has resulted in restrictions so much so it is just one big echo chamber & even then the people within that chamber are starting to question at times, where has those hateful opposition users gone ??? (not hateful at all, just with a different opinion to some others that you perceive as hate when in reality, the real vitriol is coming from their side towards others in fact) Nowadays - you don't even get the rows as the echo chamber grew & grew from the purges No longer on FB for nearly 2 years, as they demanded I upload photo, more info, drivers license to prove my identity - FUCK OFF, so I get dox by nutters, my info sold/hacked - yeah bollox miss checking in on some friends & certain pages like AK2M4, but fuck FaceBook etc...1 point -
