Just took delivery of the custom made wooden furniture for my SVD. Its made from iroko hardwood and fits perfectly. Tomorrow I'll buy the amber shellac which I'll coat it with. Its kinda nice that it is two slightly different shades also, will make it more authentic in the end (as though different bits have been added throughout the years) so many thanks to my mate who made it3 points

money literally no object? Systema PTW MADmax with all the tac mods, hogue grip conversion, real colt upper receiver, buffer, stock, suzumoto colt lower receiver, suzumoto 20" government pattern outer barrel, knights armament Mk12 mod1 rail, nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50 scope, Insight LA-5, harris bipod and a blue force gear padded VCAS sling. Sadly I don't have £15k knocking about spare, so it'll never be mine.2 points -

Pro airsoft supplies and patrol base (and probably loads of other stores) have genuine Bolle goggles in for about a tenner or thereabouts. Anti fog, too. Bit lighter and you know the quality control is sorted.2 points -

Airsoft_Mr B and one other reacted to jcheeseright for a topic
Ok, those goggles aren't real ESS, they'll be made in China with zero quality control. With a £100 budget you can get yourself set up nicely, but you'll want to make sure your eye protection is up to the job. http://www.tactical-kit.co.uk/goggles-139-c.asp Anything on that page will do the job. The gloves are decent, but If you get fast fit versions instead they're a few quid cheaper. Boots you've listed are no-name, might last you a week, might last 10 years. Who knows? I'd go for some surplus pro boots or get to an outdoors store and buy some decent walking boots. £7 for a shemagh is daylight robbery, get on ebay and buy one for less than half the price.2 points -

Yeah, on the obscenity issue - we are simulating killing people with assault weapons. I know it's a game and it is just a laugh, but if anyone seriously thinks that the word "fuck" is more offensive than assault weapons, real or imaginary, then they can indeed fuck right off.2 points -
What's Ian looking so about? ...why, the crapness of his photo skillz! These boots will probably not make it into the field with this camouflage much, if ever, but they are modern Russian Harpy's so they sort of go with the БАРС КМЛ "Сумрак-М2" (BARS KML "Sumrak-M2" {Twighlight-M2}) and the oh so spetz-fashionable Brubeck single piece woven bally. ...very slim fitting which is great for my skinny feet. Teaser of cuff detail... The best shots I could manage in the current light in my gaff: ...this last un gives you some idea of the fabric. It's very lightweight, which is great for keeping heat down when running about, but raises some questions over longevity. There are double layers on the arse, knees, and elbows though, so it may prove to be hardwearing enough. The top only has the 2 chest pockets and i did originally want 4 pockets minimum on whichever SS Leto camo top I chose, but for the price ($83 posted) this was too good to miss out on. It also comes with some loops like mini belt loops arranged like molle around the shoulders to hold light straps for a battle belt type rig or a lifchik in place, which may prove useful (I do actually have a berezka lifchik which barely ever gets an outing primarily because its straps are a pain in the hole, so we shall see how that goes), and mesh panel vents around the face and under the pits. Very much summer wear then, but I believe that lots of thin layers are better in the cold anyway, so you can gradually lose 'em as you warm up due to exercise, so i fully expect to wear it soon. That said, I'm not taking Velure-stylee boots onto a woodland site until the ground is baked, so they will have to await the arrival of the Night Python (Kryptek Typhon stylee) suit my Latvian contakt is threatening to post this week, which i intend to become my go to CQB loadout. Thinking of getting some cheap Typhon webbing from airsoftpeak.com to go with that, but I also need 4 double RPK mag pouches in black and the only deal i can find so far is going to cost me €90 posted ffs, so I may have to hold off on that until after the Balshoy Bolshevik Bash 2 in March... BTW, I realise it's fashionable to apologise for pic heavy posts, but quite frankly this is a pic thread so if you haven't got unlimited data on your phone then don't bother and if you don't have broadband @home you can't afford airsoft so off you fuck...2 points

I many situations a plate carrier can be a hindrance and slow the person down (extra weight, reduced mobility etc etc), and there expensive. so in certain circumstances (such as training) a tactical vest is far more beneficial.1 point

They are both very decent guns, and so long as you pick a decent gun (and by decent, I mean a reputable make known for having good internal workings), then going off looks is as good a way to choose as any airsoft weapon. As I'm sure you are aware, all airsoft guns (apart from one or two obscure ones), fire 6mm plastic BBs, so the only major difference between, say an AK47 airsoft assault rifle, and an MP5 airsoft submachine gun, is the internal mechanisms and their quality, as opposed to the real AK47 or real MP5, where they are hugely different in that they fire completely different ammo to each other, are built for very different roles, and are built to two very different standards or workmanship, the MP5 being built like a Rolls Royce, and the AK47 being built more like a jeep. But with airsoft, any MP5 or AK47 could be built either like a jeep or a Rolls Royce depending on which company is making the thing, so when it comes to choosing an airsoft gun which looks like a real world gun, your guide to quality is the company which makes the airsoft gun you have your eye on. ICS is a company based in Taiwan (which is a good thing), and they are known for making very good weapons, with internal workings which are extremely durable, the motor's gearbox in an ICS airsoft weapon is modular, it is made of metal, all the gears are metal etc, so you are talking about robust, decent quality and good design when it comes to ICS airsoft guns. They do build cheaper ABS plastic guns, as well as more durable metal ones, but regardless of that, the quality of the internal mechanisms is invariably top notch. So there is very little you would need to do to either of those guns you linked to, they'll be great straight out of the box, although be sure to clean the barrel when it is new, because even new airsoft guns often have a bit of crap in the barrel (it will come with a cleaning rod, you just need to thread a tiny bit of cotton rag through the end of the rod to use it). Having said that, of the two you are looking at, one of them is a standard real world weapon (the MP5 A5) which is much favoured by SWAT teams and the like, the other one is a customised version of an M4 of the kind which would be favoured by SWAT teams as well, but could easily also find itself on a battlefield. And although that M4 is not actually a standard real world M4 that one could buy off the shelf, it is one that could be created in the real world if we bought an M4 and customised it with a lot of after-market bits and pieces, because the M4 is the most popular airsoft gun by a very long way, and so like its real-world counterpart, there are loads of after-market bits for airsoft M4s, which means that an airsoft M4 is an excellent choice of weapon which is very modular in terms of you being able to modify it, which is why when most people ask 'what airsoft weapon should I get to start off with?', almost everyone always says, 'get an M4', although in fairness, most people do in fact usually say get a G&G M4, since they are inexpensive and reliable. But beyond that reason alone to favour the M4 over the MP5, is that particular M4 which you picked, is as it comes, much more able to have stuff attached to it, to make it preferable for CQB and longer ranged fighting. Notably the fact that it has a lot of rails on it, which would allow you to add optics, lasers, tactical lights, grenade launchers etc, etc (yeah I know the MP5 already has a light, but it could get shot out, which could happen to an M4 too, but it's a lot easier to get a replacement light to fit on a rail than it is to get one that fits in that slot on the MP5). The M4 also has a much more robust collapsible stock than the MP5, so would also be slightly better suited to longer ranged fighting. Another reason to favour the M4 is that it has a larger magazine capacity than the MP5, which means you are less likely to run out of ammo at an awkward moment when at your skirmish, and additional mags for it would probably be cheaper to get hold of as well. I'm not saying the MP5 is a bad choice overall, I have two of them myself and they are lighter and generally a bit better in a tight space, but I've also got two M4s and a lot of other guns too (lol, trust me, if you are anything like the rest of us, you'll end up with loads of weapons as well!), and I almost always end up using the M4s, but if you like the MP5, go for it, because it will still be a good choice.1 point

UKARA Question
Mack reacted to jcheeseright for a topic
If you painted it into a 2-tone in that country and then brought it into the UK that would be legal, however, if you then wanted to paint it back to a RIF in the UK you'd be guilty of MANUFACTURING a RIF which is just as illegal as importing, so you might as well get a UKARA number or buy a 2-tone in the UK. I'll reiterate what Mack said, stop trying to look for loopholes, it just makes you look like a dick.1 point -

airsoft attire
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Russe11 for a topic
As eyepro is compulsory, Boots are just common sense and I just don't like face masks outside of CQB sites, I am going to say Hat, scarf and load carrying gear. I was going to say Gloves as the 3rd item but tbh. my hands just get too hot so I tend to ditch them and take the risk of a bit of pain. Getting shot anywhere in the head or neck hurts and a scarf can be used as face protection if you do get a bit close to the enemy. For a hat, I recommend a boonie, they provide good enough protection and break up your silhouette a bit. Helmets provide more protection but tend to stand out like a sore thumb unless you add scrim. A hat with a brim also helps shield your ears a bit and is good sun or rain protection. My main 3 hats are an Aussie slouch hat (looks amazing but not the most stealthy), British airborne steel helmet with lots of scrim (bloody heavy and makes a very nice noise if someone gets a headshot) and a resin brodie helmet (only cost me £8 and is great in the rain). My preferred scarf is a scrim scarf as it allows better air flow and can be draped over your head as a mini camo net if you want to hide. A shemagh is the other option, it will provide better protection and can be tied to provide face and ear (hits to the ears hurt as well) protection as well as protecting the neck. There are lots of options for load carrying. Molle plate carriers or vests tend to be most popular but I find these get quite hot and there is a tendency to not feel hits when wearing them. Chest rigs belt kits and drop legs are other ways to use molle pouches that offer slightly less space but better ventilation. As a WW2 airsofter though, I have to put a word in for webbing. Webbing is cool (literally). When adjusted well, webbing will allow you to carry a lot of stuff really comfortably without acting as an additional layer of clothing that keeps you hot and prevents you feeling hits.1 point -

this: plus this: 100% head protection, chuck a scarf on and your neck is covered as well. The goggles are a set of ESS profile turbofans with a 'sansei' style lower trimmed and cable tied on. Helmet is a repro crye airframe, but a fast style helmet will work just as well, Peltor Comtac headphones on arc rail adapters protect ears from BBs and loud noises.1 point -

Eye protection (Goggles or mask), Combat boots and Knee pads in that order. Gloves help with blisters but if I had to pick just three things and turn up in any old clothes I want those, not only for safety but comfort also. I'm a more confident diving about with ankle support or taking a knee when I've got a lot of weight on my back if I'm wearing the proper stuff. EDIT: Ninja'd by Mack.
