  1. Hi all, I thought i'd take a moment and introduce myself properly, I've started a couple of dopey threads already and thought it about time I made a proper introduction. My names Graham, I live in Worthing Sussex and I work as a postman. I come from a toy collecting background (GI Joe & a bit of Star Wars), I got into Nerf with my 5 year old and I think that's sparked a need for an accurate RIF and a new group of friends. Through a good friend that Skirmishes regularly I've been introduced to the whole "Airsoft world". I'm due to go to my first Skirmish in October at Elite in Worthing, I've been buying a shed load of stuff recently, mainly finaced by selling a chunk of my Joe collection. One thing about me is I don't do things by halves, a couple of my friends are in the ATC as Leaders and I'm lucky to have access to an indoor firing range which has been a great help! I look forward to starting and hopefully opening the next chapter in my money spending and friend making Snakeeyes75

This post should go in the 'guns that need to be made' thread, but you'll see why i put it here soon enough... 1st the gun: Martini-Henry Short Chamber .577/450 MK IV This needs to be made to run on 12g CO2 bulbs fitted in the stock, firing single BB's from imitation Boxer-Henry Cartridges, 1 per ejectable brass cartridge, and a massive rubber sword bayonet... Need a revolver too. I dont think the Webley officer's one was correct for the 1880's, so whatever monster they were using back then. On to the loadout... ...because, apart from a pirate loadout, what else could i wear looking like this?

  4. I'm 45, fairly new to all this, introduced my 12 year old to this, who loves it! Welcome Snakeeyes, and good on all us old fellas with our dodgy hammys and old stories! I love the mix of young and old in airsoft, the field is quite literally a great leveler and a fantastic place to get out, get some exercise and meet new people! As well as spend sh*t loads on awesome looking guns!! lol

  6. You can never be too old to try something new. I'm thirty eight myself and play with my son almost every month. It's a great bonding experience. It's so nice to spend time with my son as I missed a lot of his childhood due to being in the military. Glad you're getting into airsoft, it's a great sport with generally very nice people.

  8. They make out out like they are so feckin experienced yet chubby don't skirmish I'm lead to think... JambWow is so brilliant at reviews - ffs the amount of times he fills mags and puts more on floor than in magazine. The pure bollox that comes out of his gob is beyond words: This gun is high quality full metal - well except that bit, and maybe that bit, perhaps that bit too not sure about the other bit too - look theonly thing metal is spring and ergh not sure about rest If I had a quid for each FANTASTIC he said - jeez I'd be rich They lie, they bul$hit you, they don't get back to you, their return refund policy is dire, most of the stuff is crap and when you slowly realise that then I refer back to: they lie/bull$hit etc...... If you know what you are looking for there a FEW things on there that you can buy but most is $hit we on here have learnt the hard way - they are the worst imho OnlyBBGuns - slightly slightly better but still not ultra high quality but perhaps best of 3 BB muppets BBGuns4Less - bit better than JustBBGuns JustBBGuns - uhm think I said a fair bit and can't really say what I truely think As with all of theme 3 BB named companies and some others - be very careful and shop/research a bit before you part with cash - often they sell low end stuff that is crap and often won't last or work well you will get your ar$e badly kicked if using most of their stuff at a proper skirmish site If buying a M4 - get £100 to £130 G&G - seriously - wasted a couple of hundred on crap to so-so other makes so I do know a thing or two about cheaper crappy guns - learn from mine & others mistakes for example not saying get it but: http://www.onlybbguns.co.uk/hg-104-m92f-beretta-hfc-hg-104-m92-gas-pistol.html?filter_name=gas%20pistol#.U_gp7KNOgzw or http://www.onlybbguns.co.uk/gg-106-hfc-gg-106-mk8-compact-gas-pistol.html?filter_name=gas%20pistol#.U_gq1KNOgzw use RC10 code for 10% discount and free shipping on all stuff I bought a co2 one for 30 - 10% = £27 delivered - 400+ fps too powerful to use at sites but not bad in black/blue and goes some for garden fun just saying those 2 gas & my co2 wre 27 with discount free shipping - works until valve/mag goes crap on ya not bad for a decent looking pistol

    First Aid

I trust the site to have what's required for most bumps, grazes, etc. but I take a kit anyway. TBH I really should get trained again because it was soooooooo long ago. My kit is pretty specific though - apart from a few bits and bobs for the average outdoors type injury it is geared up to perform minor surgery. The reason is because I knew someone whose brother died by bleeding out through a severed femoral artery even though the ambulance crew were on scene in less than 5mins (it was in a night club and the ambulance was on standby in the town centre). My kit has the sterile field, shears, dissection scissors, scalpel, forceps, tweezers, and sutures so that if someone falls on something sharp and arterial blood sprays out, if pressure and/or tourniquet doesn't do the trick, i will be able to cut down to it and ligate that artery. I even have a spray bottle of xylocaine so i could stop it hurting, so that it would be easier to keep the victim still. The only thing I haven't got which would be very handy is a wound spreader, but it's on the to-do list... Oh yeah, i also have 1.5x magnification head mounted loupe with built in LED light.

    New gearbox for m4

You can get replacement gearboxes for £60, they're pretty decent. New gearbox for m4

This all sounds familiar. A few days ago weren't you asking us about tight bores and didn't you say you were buying a she's motor? Anyways, I would open the gearbox up. Does it make a sound when you pul the trigger. How do you know it's given up, in which sense as we'll?

  20. Both I and my dad are first aid trained, but neither of us carry first aid kits, this is mainly down to the fact that we've got no spare pouches on our PC. However I know that from his past experiences ( heart attacks, dislocated knee, serious bleeding) that he can treat all of these, within minutes he will always be on scene and helping ( he knows all the injuries through his work and football

    First Aid

I like to be as self reliant as possible... I think while most sites will have a First Aider by necessity to tick the H&S and Insurance box, (apart from the few sites that have medical professionals on their day off) they will generally be no better qualified than the average office or factory first aider, and that's hit and miss quality wise. And while they can maybe do the whole CPR thing (I've never seen need for this - thankfully), in my humble opinion, while they may love stocking their first aid box with all the gauze, eye wash and burn dressings they can, maybe with a defibrillator (for which, they aren't trained) tucked under the sling and surgical scissors, when it comes to most typical skirmish injuries - bumps, scratches, nettle stings, welts, hi-cap finger, ankle twists, and assorted boo-boos etc, they just don't make things better the way my mother can, so I'd rather try to do it myself. If it's something more serious than a bit of a boo-boo, site First Aiders tend to be unable to really help anyway, and refer you on to A&E, your GP or local GUM clinic as necessary. And I'm always mindful of announcing my injuries too loudly, lest the resident survivalist come up offering his KFC wet wipe, needle and thread all pulled from the handle of a Bowie knife.

  27. These responses are obviously only the people who have an axe to grind. There are former soldiers and serving soldiers who are fine with airsoft. I done my bit and left after my first tour (decided I didn't want to be put in that situation again), but I still miss it hence airsoft Its good clean fun and I can sleep at night without nightmares anymore. The people who responded in that link I suspect have self esteem issues and are just defended what is probably the only aspect of their lives that has given them true meaning and confidence. From a psychotherapists point of view I find this all rather interesting

    wow other forums!!!

It's an Alien world to them, I'm not justifying their actions just trying to explain not to take it in the worst way. Think of this way, you're a squaddie/ex squaddie, you've never played airsoft, all you see and of heard of it are the Walts, you're going to assume its all that way; we just do as humans, its the same way racism and all other descrimination happens, past experiences being associated with all future experiences, like cavemen learning not to eat a certain berry because it gives you the shits. Of course they're not going to understand, we're all men right (for the most part) , we all like guns and action etc. - They get paid to do it and given all the gear to do it with, of course they're going to think hmmpf mugs paying for kit we get for free and running around with toy guns.... It's just a source of banter for them, just like paintballers are for the majority of airsofters! I'll be honest before I got into airsofting, I'd always liked guns, had the odd airsoft gun to twat about with shooting my mates and plinking. I saw scout the doggies videos and thought that "airsofters" were insane paying grands for kit and £300 for toy guns. Then, one day I took the plunge, I got involved after enjoying a game of paintballing but desiring realism. I thought this is a perfect excuse to buy all the cool military stuff I've always put off as a waste of money. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone is a c*nt for buying loads of expensive gear, I do it myself now, I'm obssessed with accurate kit!

well today I thought I would upgrade the wiring on my AEG from the standard G&G 0.5mm wiring to a nice 14g silicone wire from component shop, it looked really good and professional, until it wouldn't fit inside the bloody gearbox! I had better order some 16g then.
