While in Hong Kong I treated myself to an early birthday present of a GHK G5 and some extra mags Being escorted by 4 armed police men to have it security checked was kind of cool, and if I did not know better, two of them may well have been airsoft players themselves as they had a brief discussion on the G5 while checking it was not a real gun.1 point -

More info on the one you have brought or on G36Cs in general? If it's the former then we need to know which brand/type it is. If it's the later then like cropzy said - Google is your friend.1 point -
I have the gear but can't get the weekend off http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/php/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=255 You could enquire whether you could borrow some stuff on the WW2 airsoft forums. Or you have a month to get stuff together. This is why I like my WW2 loadout. There are lots of games like this and ww2 gear doesn't stop you doing non WW2 games. I will be going to this one http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/php/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=250 and will probably have my WW2 aussie uniform sorted by then so may be able to spare some stuff for a British Para loadout if you wanted to try a WW2 game. Gunman actually have some stuff you can hire as well.1 point

Try a TRMR, no pins to lose, no resetting tool either.1 point -
BFG is very little maintenance and very easy to use. Yes its a high initial input but ive gone through 200 9mm blanks so far, so by thermobaric prices at ~£3 each that would be £600 in 1 use grenades. Plus they're a good way to wake up your hungover house mates with. Blanks are dirt cheap. £15 for 50 9mm and they are much louder than the gas grenades. The BBs from the gas grenades dont even fly more than 1m anyway and have as much force as a asthmatic breathing on you.1 point

Aussie Gear! Service dress jacket and slouch hat, just waiting for the paypal invoice. Discovered that Spearhead has a Brown jacket identical to the Green one I had been looking at under the WW1 section (rather than the ww2 section where the green one was). It's £5 more but comes with the insignia that is missing from the Green one. Bit of research and I find that both colours are correct. Brown has the additional benefit of matching my British Battledress trousers so I don't need trousers and saving issues with my wool allergy, the cost of insignia and the price of the matching trousers (£40)1 point -

Everyone starting out with an AR with plastic handguards says that, then the reality hits that quad rails are very heavy and the facilitate the adding of even more weight to the area of the gun where additional weight makes your arm hurt and detriments 'pointability'. Haven't bought a quad rail myself in... at least 2 years, maybe 3 or more. I mean if you want one that genuinely is entirely your choice and it's airsoft so go for it, just passing on some experience. I'd recommend putting the rail budget in to something like hydro dipping the gun/parts thereof, or some other handguard that doesn't have a rail on all 4 sides. The real MOE set can be had for less than a lot of dodgy ACM RAS sets and far less than a high quality airsoft rail. Same amount of attachment options if not more, less weight, better integration with VFGs. Ideally wait for the new MOE Slimline handguard to get to the UK, shouldn't be that long and then you'll be right on the cutting edge (seeing as they were literally just announced).1 point

Range Revisited really gives us a good view of how our vision fucks with us and makes thing seem close when they are far away. Great video Ed,gives a nice insight into the distances we shoot at and how those kill that felt 'close' were actually far away. Really enjoyable too. Need to actually subscribe with that google account I never use!1 point -

Cheers for the response folks, I shall continue blasting away at my bank statements from ten paces then. Zak, got it from SoCom Tactical in Fleet for £45, fitted the pressure pad into the handle now as well and you have a choice of red dot, light, reddot/light combi. The battery fixture at the rear is a bit loose so taped that down. Other than that it's great1 point -

You should still have an order number. Call them and explain you've seen it cheaper and want to cancel and get a refund. You never know, they may still send it to you and price match it to G&P's price.1 point -

there's import duty as well, can be as much as 5% depending on what you're importing and what HMRC decide to classify it as, then you're looking at either £8 or £13 parcelfarce handling fee on top of that.1 point -
Just bear this in mind: the police have got far better things to be doing than chasing up someone who may have painted a toy gun 3 days before they had a definite defence against prosecution for having done so, which defence they gained by turning up to an airsoft site with said gun, especially since the intention to do so is the defence, in this aspect of the law, but also since the Association of Chief Police Officers have said the law is unenforcible (hence our hypothetical coppers would have a bit of explaining to do when their arrest record for the week was scrutinised). Plain and simply, nobody who understands the law can take it seriously and, by definition, anybody who attempts to give you grief about it doesn't understand the law so fuck 'em... Just don't be a dick with your AEG, whatever colour it is, and you'll be fine. Naturally, should you decide to test the limits of what "being a dick" entails, it will not be contravening the VCRA for which you will be arrested, but any of a string of firearms and/or public order offences which existed before and will exist long after the VCRA has been quietly superceded.1 point

Quick question about manufacturing RIFs...
DX115FALCON reacted to Longshot for a topic
Mr Cheesewright has a point, for the sake of ease, though bear in mind that there is no law against owning a RIF. If the police are speaking to you about your gun it shouldn't really matter whether it's an IF or a RIF - what really matters what you were doing before that in order for them to turn up!. The problem is that what the law actually says and what the police officer that is speaking to you thinks it says are not always going to be the same thing.1 point -
