Cannonfodder
Another great day at Ambush near cobham where I decided to take the SA-02 put for some fun. Performance wasn't the best but I'm putting a lot of that down to me being a crap shot. Fortunately I had my MP5K with me to act as back up. On the downside, there were a few who seemed to think hit taking was optional, but they were only a tiny minority and were dealt with by the staff. To me it's nice to see a site actually do something and boot cheaters rather than be all talk and no action. JustMark
Went out today, taking the tri-shot with me as I'd not really got prepared to run the aeg... Thoroughly enjoyed myself all day and I'm happy to report that the shotgun was only let down by my weary biceps by the end of the day. Being up front meant playing the objectives which is what I prefer so played with a grin all day. Not so much grumbly behaviour and hit taking seemed good (though I "missed" a bloke from a yard away somehow so not sure there...) so a good day all around. Absolutely stiff as a board now though! Gotta do some cardio inbetween games! Tactical Pith Helmet and Nick G
Smiling-Dutchman
Good day at Red Alert Airsoft. Met with @Skullchewer and had some good fun. Especially the last game mode (can't remember the name of it) was fun. (no spawn, you raise your hand when you're hit and others can revive you. Aim is to shoot all the enemies so there's noone left to revive them) Only downside was my new G&G Firehawk shot a bit too hot (307 FPs with 0.28's, where the max was 296). Hopefully gonna be able to get the spring out this week to shorten it a bit and get it within limits for the battlesim on Sunday. Lastly, this was my first time using the ExFog system. It worked an absolute treat, haven't had any fogging at all today. 10/10, would recommend. Popular Post Tactical Pith Helmet
Sunday Skirmish at Gunman Tuddenham. We had not skirmished for a couple of years, and with the lad’s birthday being soon, and my promise to treat one of his mates to a game being keenly remembered, we went to today’s game. The weather was glorious, we arrived on time, and I remembered everything but my water bottle. Luckily, I always have a two litre bottle in the van… which some swine had not put back. First purchase then was six bottles of water, and three tickets at £30 a pop. I also added a bag of Geoff’s .25gs. These were £13 compared to my last couple of bags of Taiwan Gun Kilo 9s at less than a fiver! Safety briefing was long detailed and pretty funny. The youngsters laughed and seemed to stay attentive. No questions were asked at the end apart from a bit of clarification, so top marks. Game brief was concise and clear too. First question from chief marshal was to remind anyone with a medical issue to have a word pre-game. First game took place in the woodland area of the site and consisted of one team attacking two positions, both of which had a timed bomb. If armed and defended for (I think) ten minutes, the attackers won the position, if the defenders kept them from detonating, then the defenders won the position. This was a great game with the team moving up aggressively and communicating well. Radios were used to good effect and the positions were soon in the hands of armband team. We held these for the required time and were victorious in no time. Someone forgot which barrel held the bomb however and was standing too close when it went off, which hurt their tinnitus. They heard the warning shouts but assumed that they were for someone else. Totally the player’s own stupid error (I’ll try and remember next time… The game was turned around and this time, the bombs were defended with the same level of positive play that they had been attacked with, leaving both intact at close of play. What I really enjoyed was the level of sportsmanship. I heard a lot of ‘well done,’ and ‘good shot’ calls, and was on the receiving end of some great shooting. Twice I was hit by people with the first couple of BBs, no walking in or huge bursts of fire required. I shot well, getting the drop on several people despite little sleep. I thought that both games had been well played and was just warming up for some serious play when lunch was called. I seriously thought that we must have had two half hour games rather than the full sixty minutes each time. It was that fluid and fast moving. Lunch proved that you can lead a teenager to bottled water, but you can’t make it drink. ‘I’m fine with a can of Monster’ seemed a keen topic of conversation, including between me and the lad’s pal. I took a shoulder bag into the field with me full of water for the inevitable as the sun had really got out by now. The afternoon games were in the village, a group of old Second World War buildings used as accommodation by bomber crews. These are very difficult to fight around at this time of year as the foliage around them is thick and engagement ranges are extremely short in places. You need to be quick and have 360 degree vision. First we had to fight over two timers, one in the shower block, and one in a container in the open half of the site. Snipers were restricted to the open section; limited respawns for the defenders favoured the attackers. This was a seriously contested game with each side allowed use of one shield each, and the same level of gameplay achieved as in the morning. It was really enjoyable to skirmish without a hint of the silly shouty bollox that infects games occasionally. Unfortunately our team’s cooperation fell apart, and our attacks were ill supported at times, chaotic at most. We were badly beaten, gaining no time at all on the clocks. A certain amount of visible frustration did creep in for a couple of younger players, probably due to dehydration and post lunch torpor as much as anything else. At change around a couple of players were ordered to drink at risk of banishment to the carpark or somewhere, being identified by concerned friends. Looking after oneself in the heat had featured in the safety brief, and it was good to see silly sods get outed and watered well before the frustration reached a verbal level. As it was the gameplay remained excellent. I had traded with a player twice and both times we called having thought that we’d missed each other. I felt really switched on and it seemed to be a common feeling for some reason. Last game was a simple building clearance. These are classic Tudders games. Get four or five into a building and shout clear. If cleared by a marshal go to the next building, if an opposition player has hidden themselves when you call clear, then you’re all KIA. The non-banded team got off to a flying start, taking the first rows of buildings with ease, then slowing up as they got closer to the defenders positions. I got into a great position in one building, hiding in a bush and shooting in through a window at the doorway. I got a couple of attackers and was about to get a whole group as I was shot in the back by my own team, as I shouted out for them to watch their fire as we were in front of them. In airsoft, don’t bunch up, don’t hang back, keep alert, communicate, and push the flanks are about all you probably need. When you lose those, you’ve lost the game. We lost the game quite badly, but I honestly could not care less. At close of play, the marshals were amazed at the level of play, everyone sported a big grin, I had not heard one moan all day and we called it a wrap. It was only when we pulled out of the carpark that I saw the time, I thought that we could have squeezed another quick game. Then again, we had truly quit whilst ahead. To be honest, we usually avoid skirmishes as the themed games are so much better, but we had a whale of a time today. The game, gameplay and marshalling were spot on, the weather was perfect and the atmosphere was really good natured. I wished that Mrs TPH had attended. I leave her at home for the odd skirmish we go to, as any arguing, or sexist ‘banter’ or morale patches might lead to her sticking one on the offending player, but she would have loved it. As it was, no girls were in attendance. I hope that the high standard of play continues. We had a cracking day out. The G&G CM16 never missed a beat all day, although I accidently took the fucked ‘fet instead of the functioning one. Lad’s mate used my loaner CYMA AK47 which performed fuss free; the lad’s half-brother used his CYMA M4 which still performs 100% despite it being his only, and hence only used rif. The boy himself used a G&G electric recoil M4 which despite expectations has kept together as his main rif for four or five years. His CYMA AKM which was fitted with a scope for a laugh, but which did sterling work around the buildings in the afternoon, shot like a laser. We did have a few misfires due to weak mag springs; as our first purchased G&G midcaps have tired springs these days. I expect that most of us fell in love with this tomfoolery at skirmish games. It was fun to be reminded why today. My only moan is that we could have had an extra half hour or so. Takes his hits and plays intelligently, but with a good sense of fun. The last game was stick in the mud. They often do silly little short games like that at the end of the day, that's a good one. The one time we tried it on full auto... ouch. Thanks again for shooting me in the nipple ring 🤣 Had a personal best yesterday. In one game mode I set up in a good sniping spot with my DMR, got 6 definite kills and a few "Did I get that guy or did someome else?", with 0 deaths throughout the game, while holding an objective point. I'm sure others here have done better, but I've not managed a K/D ratio that clean before. Schnitz
Just on my way back from the grange. RostokMcSpoons
Quality day at Special Ops again, lovely weather, 60-70 in attendance but everything went smoothly so no delays. I decided to haul in the Tippmann M4 HPA, the VFC HK416 GBBR, and of course ol' faithful, the DE M906C Well I couldn't get the hop working nicely on the Tippmann with 0.28s at the range, which was a surprise. I might have mangled another hop rubber somehow, I'll need to do some forensics... So anyway that was sidelined. The 416 and the 906 went off to play. For the first time ever since I've owned it, I didn't use the 906. I just enjoyed the GBBR experience too much to go back to the AEG! Again I could probably have racked up a few more kills with the AEG, but damn it the recoil just sells itself as an experience. My two new mags didn't leak, so with 4 of them and a speed loader, and an acceptance that I'd be somewhat more like a sniper than a rusher (though I still did that), I had a great time picking off people at a decent range, and entertaining the people around me ("that gun sounds awesome" was heard more than once). And I got a decent medium range pistol kill too. My only small problem was the 416 tended to lose the hop setting, it drifted to 'none' at one point, though of course easily fixed due to the clever way VFC used the gas block adjuster as the hop adjuster. Could do with some advice on how to prevent that from unwinding! Carlos and everyone else made the day a pleasure, though it was possibly more so for my team as we won every single round, even though the other team looked stronger at the outset. Excellent burgers for lunch, and the freely available bottles of water were very welcome in the warm temps Roll on the next one on the 29th... Edit: a special mention for the Cyma MP5K I tried, that gun is a simply fantastic little thing, if I do buy more AEGs that one is going to be at the top of the list. High RoF, and very accurate 👍 Edited May 20, 2023 by RostokMcSpoons Tactical Pith Helmet and JustMark
Colin Allen
Another excellent day at Tower Airsoft in Essex. Around 50 players were present, which meant there was lots of room to sneak around and infiltrate. The day started with a fallback game, which was then reversed. In the first leg, we were defending and, once hit, had to retire 30m, repeating this until we reached the church, whereupon the next hit sent us back to the safezone. A group of us set up a defensive position on our left along the old road and put up a determined defence as we were slowly pushed back. At one point, I ended up behind the enemy's front line and had a fun few minutes knocking them off before players returning from respawn did for me. We held out for the duration of the game, still being in possession of the church at the end. When the game was reversed, the same group of us ended up attacking the area we had previously defended. As attackers, we had to respawn on our marshal, who was somewhere behind us; I am not sure where as I didn't get hit. The area was fairly lightly defended and we pushed forward quite quickly, taking out the players in front of us and a fair number of those who were to our left in the centre of the field. We reached the vicinity of the church and moved towards it; just as we were about to assault it, game over was called as other members of our team had taken it from the front. These two games took up the morning. The Double Bell KAC PDW had its first run out for these two games and performed brilliantly, with excellent range and accuracy; its lightness and shortness made it very easy to use in fairly dense woodland and bushes. After lunch, we played a game of "escorting the stag to the bridge" (apparently, it was going to be "escorting the stag to the church" but that had been attacked in the morning, so the bridge became the destination). As a bit of background, there were two stag groups present; one lot were regular Tower/Airsoft Plantation players, while the others were first timers and were renting. The aim of the game was to escort your stag, looking a bit like Nursie dressed as a cow in Blackadder, from the bus yard to the bridge at the far end of the site. The stag had one life so the game ended when they were hit or when they arrived at the bridge. The defenders started off in the village, blocking the route to the bridge and they had to fall back 30m when hit. Leaving the bus yard, our team split into several groups; those of us with the stag took a route along the boundary of the site, hoping to bypass the defenders. Apart from a couple of skirmishes near the village, this worked well and the stag was safely escorted to the bridge; I had lost sight of him by this time as I was hanging back, making sure that no sneaky defenders were moving up behind the stag and his escorts. While the stag was getting out of his costume and the other team's stag was putting it on, we played a quick game of infection in the bus yard. I am not sure what the result of the reversed game was; all that I know that we had some great little firefights in and around the village and I never saw the stag, which was probably a good thing for what remains of my sanity. The next game was a scavenger hunt; a number of mortar bomb cases and yellow canisters were scattered across the entire site and the two teams had to collect them and bring them back to a central collection point on the main road; extra points were gained for also having your stag there at the end of the game. Buddy respawns were in use. This was a fun game with lots of small encounters taking place all over the site as patrolling groups bumped into each other. After searching the bus yard, the village and the bridge area, the group that I was with formed a perimeter near the collection point, covering our colleagues who were returning with more items and making it more difficult for the enemy to get their items back. That sort of ended the day, although there was another game of infection in the bus yard for those of us who wanted to play a bit longer. As usual, the day was well organised and well run, with really good hit taking and lots of calls of "Good shot" and "Well taken", along with at least one "You sneaky bastard". I'm still salty about that one time I went in the rain, a good gameplay with far too much break time and not enough shooting time.... Oh dear. Maybe bad weather leads to a psychological 'take it steady' approach. Or maybe it was just one of them days when things weren't running smoothly behind the scenes. No problems with delays yesterday, I think we had one mask-off break in the afternoon, everyone was working up a sweat so that seemed alright, other than that it was just stops to bomb up and cover the game rule brief for the next round. Will took over the briefing duties from Carlos (maybe that's helped?) and covered the rules at a clip to ensure we were playing as much as possible. The morning had the usual zombie warm up, which lasted a while due to the big player count, two long rounds of 45 minutes each and a short 20 minute game just before lunch. One game in the afternoon was called early because the attacking team became too passive, we got offered the option to change to a different game, or to switch. The defenders choose a switch and succeeded with the objectives... So I guess the worst thing you could say about the day is that the teams were numerically kept in balance, but one had more aggressive spirit (my team, coincidentally 😋) Edited May 21, 2023 by RostokMcSpoons
Impulse
Slow start for me today. Took the spring VSR and the Tanaka m700 and I can say that the Tanaka m700 hates low power. I put the small gas router in it and was getting 0.04J (the Bbs were pretty much rolling out of the barrel) and the middle one was only between 0.3 and 0.4J, but the normal sized one was 1.5J which was too much, since Worthing Airsoft is getting to be woodland CQB again so a 30m MED is way too much of a liability right now. Furthermore, the spring VSR was chronoing at 1.17J without a suppressor on and I didn't bring one, so I had to drop the BB weight a little to get it under 1.14J. With a suppressor it chronos reliably at 1.11J, losing 0.06J as it goes through the suppressor, but all of this took a while this morning and I missed the first two games. Onto the day itself then, but it was pretty good. The weather was amazing, though it was a bit breezy, so shots were swinging wide for everyone. Running the spring VSR at 1.1J with no MED was a bit of a laugh, but there were definitely still moments where I was like "ah, I wish I had 2.3J right now...". I might experiment playing with that 30m MED and a reliable pistol or SMG secondary (I'll need it) in future at the site, but next game day I need to make sure the KJW m700 is still set up for 1.1J, since I have some 'Namsoft the week after the next game day in June and I'm pretty sure Gunman has a sniper ban at Eversley at the moment because the ferns are grown up, so everything has to be 1.14J or under. Also ran the belt kit today for my Vietnam stuff and it's so good. Who needs modern tacticool molle setups anyway? Popular Post Smiling-Dutchman
Did my first battlesim today, at Red Alert. Was good fun, even tho both my RIF's didn't get used. One of them was still 2 above the FPS limit, even after shortening the spring. The other one had the MOSFET burn out... Thankfully I met up with @Skullchewerand @GAMBLEand their squad (Thanks again for having me join and thanks for putting up with me!), and one of them had a spare RIF for me to use (absolute legend!). The gameplay itself was great, much slower pace than the usual airsoft skirms, but it did involve more squad communication (even tho the comms failed sometime around lunch, which left me and 3 others (out of 9) as the sole people with working comms) and more tactical manouvering which made me feel very tacticool! Looking forward to the battlesim light Red Alert is going to start running. Barny, Skullchewer, RostokMcSpoons and 3 others 4

Popular Post Skullchewer
Red Alert's third Battlesim yesterday, with the story continuing from the previous two. This time the ETF forces from the previous years have been routed, with a small hold-out squad roaming the battlefield causing chaos, as the Vukodlak war machine rolled into Calladia. A great day was had. Blazing sunshine, which wasn't so great for me for the majority of the day, in full ghillie. But damn my home made ghillie set up WORKS! One of the regulars, Duncan, has a collection of military vehicles, including a weasel, an open topped tracked atv. In the morning, while @Smiling-Dutchman and @Honey badgerwere on guard in the fort I was on overwatch outside in the undergrowth. Duncan nearly ran me over. I had to scramble out of the way waving my hand to show him I was there. In the afternoon the ghillie got another test: At last years event one of the staff, Rozy, was an npc and had been wandering the site all day with a fishing rod, asking for fish. So this year I packed a tin of anchovies in my loadout, just in case. Vukodlak forces set up their F.O.B in the morning, and our C.O. tells me that I will score victory points if I can deliver the anchovies to Rozy. Who is sat in the pick up truck inside the Calladian F.O.B. The enemy spawn. Arse. Oh well, forget that idea... After Charlie Squad (our squad) were instrumental in delivering supplies to the refugee camp, I decided to push out solo and go Calladian hunting. I informed my squad over comms, and struck out into the undergrowth. After a few minutes out occurred to me that if I kept pushing up that hill ahead of me I would be getting close to the Calladian HQ. Sod it, I'm going to try. I went into full stealth mode, watching every step, looking out for twigs and branches, trying to be as quiet as possible. Voices? Ahead of me... A Calladian squad coming down the hill, through the woods from their spawn. I quickly turned, vaulted over a fallen tree by some bushes and rolled under, my rifle under me cloak wrapped around, MK23 clutched in my sweaty mitt. I saw them stop and start whispering. They'd seen movement. I waited. They moved forwards. I could see them clearly. Definitely Calladian, at least 4 of them. I had an easy shot on one but that would lead to me getting hit and blowing the mission. My close encounter with the weasel (ooer) had convinced me my cloak works, so trust it! I just lay still, and after a couple of minutes of no further movement the Calladians decided that there was nobody there and continued forward... all of them passing right by me! One of them I could have reached out and touched. Daaaaamn! I waited as I heard them trudge off down the hill, then when I was sure they were gone I continued towards their base, moving even more carefully now, crawling through the undergrowth, and like the idiot I am not noticing the patch of nettles until I was crawling through it. I managed to sneak right up to the Calladian HQ without being spotted. Unfortunately there were quite a few troops their prepping to respawn. So I stood up and strolled into their base, enjoying the confusion on their faces as I held my gun aloft and shouted repeatedly "Nobody's shot me yet, nobody's shot me yet" I stopped short and tossed the tin of anchovies at their feet, causing them all to scatter as if it were a grenade 😆 The Calladian CO picked the tin up and handed it to Rozy. Mission complete! At that point a kid leveled his pistol at me and shot me in the chest as I stood there grinning my head off. We all had a good laugh about it then I went off on the trek back to base, reporting my success over comms to my squad leader. When I got back to HQ I was met by a round of applause from all the Vukodlak soldiers present. Slow, tiring and painful but omg that was worth it! And the day ended in the third win in a row for Vukodlak! Hats off to all of Charlie Squad, which was all Outcast members and @Smiling-Dutchman who made a great addition to our yearly squad. Red Alert Battlesims are always awesome. This one I will take away some great memories. The next battlesim will be next year, the next battlesim lite is July 23rd, with no kit restrictions or camo requirements. Impulse
Had a surprisingly good day today at Worthing. I set my m700 up for 2.3J today, as I wanted to give it a go dealing with the MED and essentially handicapping myself at this time of year since Worthing Airsoft is pretty dense with foliage. This was by design and I tend to do this kind of stuff to make sure I'm not getting complacent, much in the same way that I don't wear the ghillie during the summer; plus I enjoy doing it. The extra challenge is fun! Nevertheless, I went in with the expectation that I might get hammered, but it couldn't have been further from the truth. It forced me to really consider exactly what I was going to do, where I was going to position etc, since with a lot of sight lines being cut off by dense foliage it was very easy to get up close if I screwed up. The weather was nearly perfect too, with the sun out all day only spoiled by a bit of a breeze blowing across the site, but we're in the season where I thrive; anything up to 30 celcius is absolutely comfortable for me, and I'll play up to about 40 celcius before I start thinking about calling it quits. Love my warm weather (it's my Spanish side, I swear...) So, with that in my mind, the morning went pretty well. First two games were at the top of the site where there are some sight lines if you know where to go, and I paired up with one of the other snipers I get along with well; he was also running a gun with no MED, but his scout is being weird and only chronoed at 1.3J today. However, we definitely made our presence known and I found myself playing a bit more aggressive than usual, which is weird since I had an MED today where I usually don't. Worked out well and I got quite a few people in the first game, and then the second where we switched ends. However, the third game took us all to the bottom of the site, and to say it's overgrown down there would be a hell of an understatement. It was the true Worthing woodland CQB experience and I ended up just slinging the rifle on my back and going with the pistol. I paired up with another guy that I usually partner up with this time who was running his AKM, so we did a bit of sniper/spotter work, which was really refreshing and I seriously enjoyed doing it. Working in pairs is definitely more fun than working alone for sure! We executed a massive flank, moving through the area of the site that never gets played (and it's ironically called Paradise) to get behind them, assuming the enemy team would push up and take a base that would've cut us off (we ran quickly and ducked into a pathway that only the regulars really know about). However, the enemy team didn't do this, so when we got to where we needed to be, our team was pushing from that side which ruined the plan we had as our plan relied on them completely not expecting someone to come from that direction. Oh well! After lunch we played at the top of the site again and... I found myself on the front lines with my bolt action again. It's definitely harder to play aggressively when there's so much foliage, but I think the way I play works well, since it's all about low and slow and you can really get into positions the enemy don't expect. It was a good game, though we got pushed almost into our spawn we somehow managed to win (3 base domination and I guess the other team just... didn't go to the middle base, too busy trying to trap us in our spawn ). After that we switched ends and 3 o'clock syndrome started to kick in. I hit a guy square in the face since he was lying under a bush, watched him recoil from the hit and then come out with his rifle raised after his friend shot me. Then as the game was ending I had someone full-auto me in the face from about 5m away, so that was nice too. Decided to call it there since I needed to get the m700 set back for 1.1J for next week's Nam game, as Eversley Alpha has a ban on DMR and sniper power at this time of year since the ferns are pretty out of control. Also, just checked and even without the ghillie suit and playing more aggressive today, I still managed to dodge the camera. No photos of me again 🤣 Jacob Wright, Jaylordofwaargh and Colin Allen
gavinkempsell
First skirmish EVER at Players of War Airsoft near Falkirk, knackered beyond belief is an understatement (I'll blame the sun coz my weight & age can't possibly be the reason), I'm in awe of how many players were wearing the latest kit & using incredible RIF's (I wore what I could find in my size & used an old set of PLCE incase It got damaged or I didn't want to go back), The milsim players were so impressive too. As suspected I had too much weight on my plce (pouches & contents), had too many lipo's & mags (had to use my high caps), but everyone I spoke to was great, & thanks... the offer of a chip was much appreciated. Was already signed up for the 18th & now signed up for the 2nd July too (work most Sundays so will play when I can). What would I change for next time...? Well I have some MTP uniform & a stupid amount of Osprey kit already on order courtesy of ebay & a credit card. Might give my G36c a try next time but the SCAR I took performed better than I expected (proud to say I killed several trees today). Will take some of my Bullpups in the future but none are 2 toned so that will have to wait for now. I feel I'm more of a collector than a player but on my drive home I wondered if the STEN was still for sale on here as the SCAR mag did get in the way a couple of times & it would make a nice addition to my collection, Oh! maybe an Sterling SMG? (if that unicorn ever flies my way). Thanks again to everyone at Players of War Airsoft for a fantastic experience.
