Emergencychimps
Did another game at gunman tuddenham and it seems I'm about to be a cheerleader for them again. Thoroughly impressed with the management team, ran a relatively complex game with a more advanced rule set, objective style etc and frankly they smashed it out of the park. The site has clearly invested in their terrain and made good use of the features already there. The variation of experience available has improved and consistent with what they're advertising. The game play was good, objectives well thought out and hit taking/sportsmanship very high as well. Add onto that, my little group played effectively as a team and it was about perfect. Popular Post hitmanNo2
I was at Gunman Tuddenham on Sat for the night game. All in all, a good evening. Start time keeps on slipping later and later from the aimed 7pm which is bit annoying but hey. Lots of friendly fire but typical of a night game. I just wish people would use the call and response properly. Yes, if you don't reply, I will assume you are NATO scum and shoot you. Sneaking through the village and trenches is a hell of a lot of fun. RostokMcSpoons
A good day out at Special Ops again on Sunday... an unexpected trip as I had family coming over from the New York, but their plans just happened to leave the day clear for me. Yay I took my new CA Scarab for it's first outing, but when I went to chrono it I realised I'd picked up the Nuprol high-cap instead of a Lonex flash mag. Stupidly, rather than backing out of the chrono test and going back to get a Lonex mag, I pulled out the nub I was using to shim the mag well so I could fit the Nuprol in. This rendered the gun useless for the 3 Lonex mags because I had nothing to glue it back in with Anyway, that left me with Ol Faithful, and the TM AUG HC. Everyone loves the AUG I only used it for the end of the day when I'd used up the Titan battery in the DE again... but which coincided with the marshals deciding to run the games in small areas, so semi-auto only. Which doesn't play to the gun's strengths. In fact it does show a weakness in that it doesn't feel like it enjoys being spam-fired in single repeatedly, and the selector bolt is easy to nudge into a neutral position. I'll stick the DE M906 for that in future. A few of the defensive positions have been altered since the last game, some of the cover has been removed from the church and tank areas in Ping Ping, which will probably help attackers in the future. Two things of note: One of the regulars has a technically impressive HPA setup. He was complaining that someone had complained at him for getting lit up full-auto. Turns out he was shooting at 40rps. He justified it saying "just because I can afford a good gun and he can't doesn't mean I should worry about trying to use half second bursts" (conveniently ignoring he can program his trigger to fire 3 round bursts, as he'd demonstrated on a previous day) and "I could be a cunt and turn it up to 60(rps)" Well to be honest pal, you're already being a cunt at 40 rounds a second. That's the sort of attitude that gives HPA'ers a bad name. A chap showed up with an Ares L41A1 (Lee Enfield 7.62 sniper). Oh that is a thing of beauty.... I definitely want one some day. The bolt action is smooth and is the most satisfying feel of any spring rifle I've tried so far (a small sample size, admittedly). Lovely gun, but heavy. And as the owner mentioned, the stock is so beautifully finished you really wouldn't want to get it scratched or dinged by BBs, and it'll be painful when it happens. Lovely bit of kit though 😍 Nick G and Skullchewer

The weather was excellent, lunch was good as always, and I don't think I heard a single grumble about hit taking all day. My back gave up again, so didn't play much in the afternoon, and my QRF seems to have developed a piston leak I'll need to take a look at. But overall a bloody ace day of stupidity. The Scottish division of Outcasts came down from Glasgow for the weekend and had a blast at Red Alert. James particularly enjoyed handling my Pulse Rifle (Ooer). rj1986
Sun's out - guns out. First game out for the year on Saturday at the soon to be closed for 2 years (HS2) at RIFT Comsite 3. Lots of people for this event, but unfortunately this hindered the game, as the site has got smaller the car park has got smaller, and the day basically was who can run to the choke-points fastest and who had the best hop up unit as it became 6 hours of out ranging each other. People setting up in buildings and playing pop up pirate all day. And with an LMG and the single shot rule, made it a long day. First time using the MK46, and the overpriced mag shit itself during chrono. Luckily it was a gear coming off the motor and once i popped it back on, was good to go. Short review of the gun - it gets out ranged by a few (new hop rubber on order), its lower on FPS than most as its JP standard, the mag is picky with ammo and misfeeds a wee bit and the fact its not auto winding is a mystery to me. And its heavy. I'm not a small bloke, in fact in the winter i dabble in powerlifting, and I was broken on the Sunday. But not one gun I've own has been more fun, got more compliments or had people ask to have a go. I love it, and wish there were more like it. If TM released an m240 version, I would be there with the deeds to my house as a down payment. I agree that paintball sites don't generally make for the best airsoft fields, but the terrain is decent here, with plenty of hills, thick but not impenetrable foliage and some decent structures. The site is generally really well run too. @Speedbird_666 and @Shamal shout if you're planning a trip there and, depending on C-Diddy Jnr's football schedule, we'd definitely be up for a meet Shamal and _K4MF_ 1

I was running my tippmann for the first time in several months, and I had a few issues, so I think it will need some TLC. By the afternoon, I was getting tired, so I dropped down to running my AAP-01 and KWA skorpion. Found the Skorpion to be super accurate and had a surprising range, so I will be using it more often (just need to find some mag pouches to hold the larger 40 round mags) It is such a shame that HS2 have renaged on their previous commitment to build a new access road to the site when they take the current access road, but RIFT are able to get in to maintain and improve the site, so heres hoping that when the site is finally able to reopen, it will be even better than it is currently On Sunday, I headed up to Lincoln for a private event being held next door to the Farm CQB, a dedicated ww1 themed event run by 1st Battalion Boys Overall it was a fun day, very different from a regular skirmish, complete with an awesome trench system that has been dug. I was in british WW1 uniform and webbing and running my S&T Lee Enfield, and my Webley as a sidearm (though didn't use it in game) There were many charges across no man's land with fixed (rubber) bayonets, and the sides seemed well balanced, with the machine gun team on each side laying down effective fire into no man's land, though the entente forces were definately on the offensive more, and forces were able to break through into the enemies trenches. Add to he mix players from all sides doing their best amateur dramatics when hit, and the game took on a much grittier atmosphere than at a normal weekend skirmish One major issue that I (and many others) faced was contamination in our weapons. The entente trenches were dug in sandy soil, and it got absolutely everywhere. At one point I had to step out to the car park and spend half an hour stripping the Lee enfield to pieces after it jammed several BBs in the barrel (I had been doing a "mad minute" to fend off a central powers charge) and clean the sand out of the workings as well as unjam and clean the barrel. Definately going to need to replace the barrel and upgrade the hop, but I have just bought a replica "flanders flap" to cover the barrel in future games where I run the Lee Enfield (not just the 1BB ww1 games) I had a great time, and would definately wish to return in the future, though I definately need to make sure I have the following Monday booked off work to recover. (Not a problem this time round due to the bank holiday) but i definately had sore feet from the running. I spent bank holiday Monday stripping the LE to pieces and giving everything a thorough clean to remove every last trace of sand.

Colin Allen
On Saturday, the lad and I again ventured into Essex to Tower Airsoft. The weather forecast was poor with heavy rain forecast for the afternoon, which may have been responsible for the relatively low number of regular players. However, numbers were boosted by two rental groups, one being a stag group and the other the local under 15 football team; each group was allocated to one of the teams. As usual, the games were well thought out and worked well, the highlight for me being a solo stand outside the fort during a domination game, preventing the opposition getting to the timer that they had to switch over, while the rest of my team (all dead) watched from the track. It was also rather satisfying to see the lad putting his recently acquired combat skills into effect in an airsoft environment rather than at Sennybridge. Huge kudos to the chap on the other team who was dressed as a US cavalryman and toting two revolvers, However, there were some of the usual problems with large rental groups, which the marshals did everything they could to mitigate. Fortunately, as planned, the stag group left at lunchtime to go somewhere and get pissed and the footballers were taken off to play by themselves in one part of the field where they could use full auto on each other as much as they wanted. In the afternoon, the weather forecast proved to be accurate, with heavy rain. However, neither the weather nor the issues affected our enjoyment of the day; the lad was very pleased with the performance of his LCT AS Val, bought from @Thorpey, to whom many thanks. Skullchewer
Red Alert Newbury, again. I rarely go anywhere else these days, I don't need to as it's such a good site. Last week I added a Tridos TDC 2.0 hop adjuster to my SSG10 (Video about this in my thread in the media forum). I put it in because, while I love the Rif, I was fed up of accidentally changing the hop as it was right next to where my thumb sits when shouldering the rifle. Sunday was the first day of using it since. As well as the intended result it has added extra power and it's more accurate (it was already pretty good). So I spent a fun morning totally beaning people with it. Really happy with the results. Later in the day it became apparent that the teams were a little imbalanced. Yellow, the team I was on, had a lot of rentals but also people new to the site as two other nearby sites were closed this weekend (One of them being Absolute Airsoft, ho ho). So I ditched my beloved SSG10, and pulled out the Cyma SVD AEG I recently bought second hand, in order to get a little closer to the action and help the team tactics and morale. The svd was... not great. It has a combat union hop in it, and is pretty fussy. I didn't manage to find a weight and hop setting that resulted in a half decent BB flight, but that didn't really matter as I ended up ditching it and leading from the front with my MK23. It was fun for me, but also pretty frustrating. Defeat in the first few games had demoralised the yellows, and many of them were not playing the objective, and the rest were all hanging way back. We lost again, despite myself and the head Marshall attempting to get them motivated. Oh well. It did, however, result in chatting with lots of new people and they all seemed to have a good day despite being steamrolled. And all the players from "that site" I chatted with were really impressed by Red Alert, but then their bar is pretty low. In the first game after lunch I was feeling tired, being the creaky old fart I am. I had just cleared out some reds, and feeling that I may be safe I decided to sit on a bench in one of the buildings and take a sip from my camelbak. Foolish old man. One of my friends in the other team came swinging round the corner and snapped off a reflex shot from his pistol. Hitting me in the left testicle from less than six feet. I sat out the next game 🤣 At the end of the day we had a cqbish game in the town area, basically stick in the mud. I used my TM MP5K High Cycle, which I recently added a Swordfish rail to. I love that gun. I need to use it more, but it's very situational. Overall a great day. VERY happy with the changes to the SSG10, the SVD needs some attention, and the MP5K is just so sweet. This weekend Red Alert are running a Battlesim Lite, which I'm very much looking forward to. Basically a normal skirmish day but the only break is for lunch, with set objectives, teams etc. Their full battlesims are great, and this should be a nice intro to the kind of gameplay that a Battlesim offers, for less experienced players. Come say hi. The site is a good size, and decent layout, but it's the staff that make it. They really give a shit that every Sunday is different and fun and fair. I've not played two days exactly the same at red alert, they like to mix it up. As I said in the other post, they often do a quick cqb stick in the mud style game at the end of the day, so it's a good idea to bring along something suitable for that. MrTea
Played at District 23 again last night but this time with almost double the numbers than normal. Games were decent and the level of gameplay was fantastic minus one guy refusing to take a trade-kill when we both shot each other within touching distance. I just walked away, can't be bothered with that. Some guy had an absolutely silent Mk23 that you never heard before you felt it. It was insane. One dude got the drop on myself and a teammate and rather than shooting us in the back or legs, chose to shoot both of us in the back of the head with a HPA pistol. Cheers pal. One negative is that the staff never tagged/ziptied guns or regulators at chrono and I think some of them knew it and might've given themselves a bit of extra juice. Project gun performed fantastically again and never had any issues with BBs striking the tracer since swapping to a shorter Blaster Unit. But as with everything there are always the odd one out to be Richard. You should try a Sunday. Numbers are really good and makes for some very fast aggressive play. I gave up with Wednesdays and fridays as I didn't like the low numbers. Some times even with the small site size you would spend 5 10 mins sneaking around and not see anyone. Whereas when good numbers it's much more of a push the objective attitude from most.

Sadly as long as people are involved in this hobby and they're not outcasted and/or punched in the face for good measure for bending rules for themselves because they're narcissistic pricks nothing is gonna change drastically. Sites can only do so much to make it safe for everyone involved. Yes, I agree on tagging absolutely and ban the fuckers if it turns out that they tampered it but at the same time an airsoft site is a very niche business so you have to find a delicate balance between providing and making money on it. HPA does get unfairly maligned as the issue, when it's the user that's at fault. I have one hpa gun I run (which is lovely but it's convinced me I'm not into hpa, I just don't like the line and tank at all), and I can see that it would be theoretically easy to tamper even when tagged.
