  1. Leaking 40 Mike fill valve.  cleaning: no fix, soaking in silicone oil: no fix...  its leaking on the low pressure maintinence gas too... any advice?

    1. kasaran

      kasaran

it appears to be coming out the centre of the valve and not round the outside where the O-ring is

Isn't this a bit like asking how to stop involuntary guests escaping from your sex-dungeon?

  2. advice for bleeding gas mags of maintenance gas ready for game days?  I assume firing the gas out would coat the barrel with oil and pressing the button on the mag may damage the seal?

  3. FORUM MODERATORS: Can sale items marked as completed have the 'message seller' button removed, or after a while be deleted.  I have had repeated emails asking if a shotgun I sold 2 years ago is still available.  2 in the last couple of months...

      Speedbird_666

Agreed - I sold some Peltors ages ago and still get messages about them. I try now to edit the listing with SOLD in font size 72 before marking it as complete - at least when I remember to do so.

There is a forum feedback section - might be worth posting in there.

I agree, would be nice if they was automatically removed after a grace period too.

On an unrelated note, is the shotgun you had for sale still available?

      I noticed it with handguards.

A while ago there was plenty of choice for decent repro handguards, now there's like 2 or 3 and they're crap as well.

Gears, motors, pistons and compression parts are still widely available though.

    3. kasaran

      kasaran

Funnily enough it was handguards I was looking at.  Then backed up by my wishlist on there now being 95% unavailable.

It is a shame though, I'd say it will help my bank, but the alternatives are all more expensive

    4. Skara

      Skara

I consider myself lucky that I bought them while they were still available, saved me some pretty penny because looking at them prices right now, on EU retailers, I would have spent at least 2.5 times what I actually spent. Fucking DD MFR XS repros being sold for €150 while I paid 50 posted + €2 in customs fees for mine.

  5. Suprisingly hard to find a replacement G&G CM16 pistol grip.  Anyone got one knocking about?

  6. something tells me, the handguard mount of a CM16 isnt a standard diameter?

    1. Skara

      Skara

      Which model?

      Just a polymer combat machine

    3. Skara

      Skara

You mean the barrel nut thread? That's AEG spec, just like every other AEG.

You mean the actual nut diametre? That varies depending on the handguard

      You mean what?

  7. removing the fuse from a combat machine.... a good idea?

I bin them off, but that's because I've popped a fuse on a locked up box with a stalled motor by doing the default reflex "Oh, I'll just hold the trigger and see what happens".

So once you've done that, you'll know not to do it again.

If the fuse pops because the motor has properly stalled under compression, you'll need to unlock the gearbox anyway.  All the fuse is doing is telling you that.  So now you need to unlock it and replace the fuse.

If it pops because of an electrical short, that's a different consideration and not one to completely discount with lithium in the mix.

It depends on your tolerance for risk.

    3. kasaran

      kasaran

Tis annoying as I got a nice slim stock and the fuse case is prohibitively large for my smallest lipo.  I guess safest this post removal would be to MOSFET it, but I'm trying to do this on the cheap.  If it does pop though, I have plenty of spare pews, not that I want to set it up to fail

20+ yrs playing binned the fuses out of pretty much every gun I’ve ever had(primarily for the exact same reason you want too) never had a problem with any of them . I’m a great believer in the train of thought that 95% of all faults that occur with airsoft kit wether AEG’s gas pistols or what ever is always down to user error and NOT the kit failing in its purpose . There not as strong as real guns so if you abuse them in any way shape or form it’s gonna end in tears . Savy ? 😉

  8. anyone had success ordering from Gunfire of late?

    1. Druid799

      Druid799

      Apparently not ? 😳😁

  9. anyone ordered from FatBobs before? do they downgrade their AEG's automatically? rather not have to fix a hot gun

    1. Tactical Pith Helmet

      Tactical Pith Helmet

I bought my G&G L85 from there.  Dead on 330fps.  Not sure if G&G ship hot rifs to the UK though.   All my new ones have been within limits.

  10. Welp, that's the TM Scar H recoil ordered.  Leaving it stock.  What batteries are people using?

      kasaran

Don't need to be concerned with lipos in a TM?  Guessing 7.4 will be fine?  I was expecting it to be NiMH like the mk18

    3. Stratton Oakmont

      Stratton Oakmont

7.4 are fine, do not use 11.1 under any circumstances or you will kill it

  11. Cant tell if its all computer games or my general bias towards the larger calibre Rifs, but why am I now looking at Scar H's?

    1. AK47frizzle

      AK47frizzle

I've found computer games does influence a lot of what you think is cool. If it performs well in a game, you end up associating that gun image with "good", and that seems to translate in real life.

    2. Akuma121

      Akuma121

Video games definitely influence me on what I want to purchase. I went out and got a ASG B&T USW A1 since it was used in the latest Resident Evil game. I'm also do the same with Scar's at the moment thanks to good old Escape from Tarkov.

    3. kasaran

      kasaran

Its Insurgency Sandstorm and Ghost Recon Wildlands doing for me on the Scar.  And after getting a MK18 NGRS, should a really get another NGRS...  If TG were delivering I'd likely get the DoubleBell off them (and a skorpion).  Need to get round to getting Tarkov one of these days.  Shame its not on steam

  12. damn the cold weather killed my batteries today, so many lock ups on semi. pretty good day all the same

Lent my ICS MARS to one of our team guys..with a 2600mAh 7.4 lipo...ran it dry.  It was a tad cold. (Me? I ran HPA..no issues..)  :)

  13. Is matrix compatable with cyma?  trying to work out if the matrix SVD wood kit would fit on my svd.

Odds are it could well be a Cyma kit as Matrix are their own ‘in-house’ brand , all the stuff is bought in then re-branded as Matrix . Totally agree with Lozart about Evike they are very shall we say slap dash with international customers . As they’ve pretty much got the west coast market in their pocket their attitude if there’s a problem is “and what ya gonna do about it from the other side of the world ?”
Just so fecking annoying the way they’ve got so many thing you just can’t find anywhere else ! 🤬

    3. Lozart
    4. kasaran

      kasaran

i doubt that would work, the Cyma is an aeg and the motor is in the grip, front grip need to clam-shell too for the battery.  i mean.... it would work with a lot of fettling, but i lack the skill or gear to do that. (if i had the ability, id have made a wooden stock for my m14 by now)

  14. gaming is bad for my wallet... never been too interested in SCAR H's but after COD modern warfare and Insergency Sandstorm, i find myself eyeing-up the double bell in tan

I've been on the fence about getting one for a while, where did you find it?

    2. kasaran

      kasaran

no where, just out of stock on taiwan gun, though post brexit, i dunno if i would ever try to order from them again.  UPS still being a shitshow

  15. is there a point paying extra for faster delivery from patrol base?  my last two orders have basically been 48hr delivery with me paying for the slower option.  not complaining, just surprised

    1. Show previous comments  2 more
    2. Impulse

      Impulse

Yeah, I only ever go for their "slower" option, ever since they started sending their faster packages through UPS and UPS lost my parcel. I still got my stuff, because Patrolbase sent the items again and refunded the ones that were then out of stock, but it was really annoying and I almost didn't have my AAP-01 for AI500.

Their slower option usually arrives within 2 or 3 days at most anyway, so there's really no point shelling out more money for an inferior service :P

    3. Rogerborg

      Rogerborg

Nah, I wouldn't bother.  When they're rammed, they can't guarantee same day dispatch, then the actual delivery is out of their hands as well.  Just expect the worst and be delighted when it comes faster.

    4. Druid799

      Druid799

I’d never pay for ‘premium’ delivery for one simple reason , 90% of British Airsoft retailers have shite customer service (the ones who actually do care about their customers generally seem to give super fast delivery already) so to me your just wasting your hard earned beer tokens on a service your just NOT going to get .

  16. anyone else finding Patrol Base's website not working well atm?  not loading pictures or updating filters

room temp and shaken well, the missus (having a history with spray cans) did the base coat and found them to be bad.  oddly enough, the brown one was better, the khaki/tan one was the trouble maker.

    3. AirSniper

      AirSniper

As with any paint job, the result is only as good as the prep work you put in.

Ask any paint shop tech, they spend most of their time in prep of the piece to then spend a fraction of the actual time a job takes to put the top coat on.

Also the surface you are applying the paint to, even with self primers, unless the proper primer coat is used to bond with the substance you are painting, then any job you do will likely be looking like your underwear after a blow out with the lads and that curry resurfaced rather prompt like...

Do you know what you are painting? Some metals do not take a paint job well unless they have been properly painted with a base primer that is able o etch in and give a bonding layer. Some polymers will not take certain types of paints. That will not be down to any polymer, it could be that manufacturers blend or that batch may have a different blend of chemicals.

Many reasons exist for a paint job to not come out well, including operator error and how that operator applies that paint.

Judging from your comments, my main points address what you are likely having a problem with... its not likely the paint and if you say you did the job right then its not you, leaving the only thing left... the piece you are working on.

Have you thought about asking the manufacturer about paints that will bond?

    4. kasaran

      kasaran

Surprised to see people defending nuprol paints...  the criticism being that having used TTCombat and more often Tamiya spray paints (which are worth the extra bob), the Nuprol stuff comes out inconsistantly, thick and very watery.  It is sold as suitable for metals and plastics and being Nuprol it will be aimed at the airsoft market whereas the others target model builders.

oddly enough though, the finish i got was actually pretty good, and it was certainly the tan/khaki can that was the worst culprit.  But for ease of use? spend the extra few £.

  19. Spent time yesterday successfully modifying my G&P M203 to work with my Master Mikes.  Looking forward to finally using them, I decide to double check that I can use them at Finmere....  No, I cant.  Bugger

    1. strykerles

      strykerles

been pondering getting a couple myself but I think most sites have banned them and the 40 mikes

    2. kasaran

      kasaran

I know a few places allow them.  Just feel the 40mike made everyone nervous about allowing them.

    3. Druid799

      Druid799

Classic example of being tarred with the same brush ?

I never liked the idea of the 40 and when I saw one in action it just confirmed my fears in the wrong hands(which we have to admit there are a LOT of in Airsoft) it could do some serious damage , but when you come down to it the master mike is just a ‘normal’ moscart with an Incredible Hulk shoved up its arse ! 😳

  20. i think my LCT G3 is cursed.  when it works its great, hops 0.28s like a lazer.  my one repaired mag with stretched spring feeds fine.... the other 4 need stretching (joys)

yesterday the batteries (NMiH's) popped, got super hot and swollen.  the gun stopped firing and now its stuck on full auto.  I guess LCT dont have fuses as its clearly fried something.  now to find a repair shop, sadly my local are too busy to take it in....

    1. Lozart

      Lozart

Have you considered fitting different springs instead of stretching them? These have always worked well for me when I need to rejuvenate mags https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/maple-airsoft-super-feed-3-pack-midcap-magazine-springs-gen-2

  21. So, all 5 LCT G3 midcaps have had their innards raised as suggested on a thread on here.  one of them i opened up and stretched the spring slightly to see if that helps.  it was a nightmare to reassemble, but got there in the end.

house testing, the spring stretch mag emptied a full mag.  the only raised innard mags (1 of them at least) emptied a full mag of 0.2 and 0.28 bbs.  hopefully they all fire until empty this sunday and all will be well.

  22. so tried to fix my lct g3 mids.  Thr wedge stick method didnt work for me.  Which sucked.  The bolt now for some reason not biting the allen key.  The second attempt i went for stacking watchers.  But the bolt is not long enough.... going well thus far...

    1. Terrywristt

      Terrywristt

To get my LCT g3 mids to feed i had to replace the springs, the stock ones are woefully bad

    2. kasaran

      kasaran

how on earth do you get the springs back in?

Full-auto on a pistol is a bit pointless. It's usually inappropriate to use it at the distance a pistol would be your go to and it also sends the accuracy to shit.

The G19 has updated internals and better externals, plus fits RS holsters. The FN57 is a bit like holding on to the back of a bus.

      TLDR: G19.

I have a g17. In black and tan but co2 and a kjw.  So the g19 or 18 was to be a bit different and for tm goodness (that and my local site doesnt allow co2 so its outings are limited).

Moot point now though. Holding off hitting the buy button after finding out a bigger pew is due in stock in a couple weeks.

Airsoftzone have a compatibility list for the Combat Union unit.

  25. so, a quick sand and the hop up fits.  On first test, it lost 100fps.... not sealing around the nozzle.   Greased up the interface where the hopup joins the gearboc and boom, 330fps.  Thats a 30fps gain from putting a 340mm barrel in place of a 210mm barrel in what was a CM raider.
