Definitely something to be said on this and it's why I run a symmetrical setup on my belt kit. It allows me to have both pistol mags and rifle mags in places that aren't too awkward to reach, as if they're too far back it is very awkward and the movement can easily give away your position And as has been said already, split rigs are also really useful, especially since it sounds like your playstyle is similar to mine. Those are the chest rigs I use with my MWSs, because it allows me to unclip the front and push it aside so I can still get low to the ground. I have the Condor Ronin chest rig and the hydro harness and it works really nicely.3 points -

I used to run an osprey vest when i first started but it got much too hot when moving around when i switched to more eastern gear I started using a smersh yoke and belt similar to the one in the picture but with a slimmer molle style belt Also use braces under my shirt to help with falling down trousers 🤣3 points -

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Nick G and 2 others reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
Today was Airsoft Plantation's Christmas shoot; Just over 200 players turned up, some dressed in Christmas themed fancy dress (unlike the rest of us who were mostly in Army Man fancy dress). Having prepared everything I needed for the day, I went out to set up the second hand Double Bell P90 that I bought recently. The stock hop unit struggled to deal with any of the aftermarket hop rubbers that I tried to fit in it, only working with the very thin stock one; a Prowin hop unit that fortuitously arrived on Friday solved that problem. The gun ran beautifully, pushing BBs out to 60m at 1.05J, with the Perun P90 mosfet making it a joy to shoot, in contrast to its previous spongy self. The first game involved our team starting in the village, with the aim being to clear the enemy out of the mortar pits and grab the Christmas presents that five of their players were holding; these contained gifts that would belong to whoever was holding one at the end of the game. We had infinite regens on a 30m fallback to a teammate, while the defenders had two lives. A group of us decided to take the long route, jogging around through Swaziland at the far end of the site to approach the mortar pits via the comms truck area. We met stiff resistance there, but eventually broke it down, sweeping along the berm that protects that side of the pits and taking out the remaining enemy in that area. At the far end, we encountered some of our teammates who had taken a different route; both groups were surprised to see each other and there were a few blue on blue hits before we realised that we were on the same side. The game then ended. After a pleasingly short break to mag up, which I did in glorious isolation while sitting in the mortar pits, we swapped roles. I took up a position behind a short berm from where I could cover one of the approaches to the comms truck and one of the routes from it into the mortar pits if the enemy took it. The L1A1 scored a lot of hits at range before I was hit after the comms truck was captured; I fell back to another berm, where I spent rather less time before being hit again. The other team completed their mission just over three minutes more rapidly than we did. After another short break to mag up, we went out to the village for a variation on that staple of airsoft sites, infection. Both teams started in the village, except for those foolish souls who were in proper fancy dress. Starting at the Border, they had to attack us; when we were hit, we had to go to the Border and have our photo taken through an inflatable picture frame before returning to the fray. I took up a position on the left hand side of the village, where the fighting was quite fierce; a group of us worked well as a team, but were gradually depleted as attackers' numbers grew. Eventually, I was hit and went to have my picture taken by the site owner. I returned to attack the area that I had been defending; defender numbers had decreased significantly by then, so it didn't take us long to clear the village. It was then lunch time; the catering van provided Christmas dinnner for those who wanted it, serving the vast majority of the 200 plus players and marshals. After lunch there was the draw for the raffle prizes; these varied in value from around £50 up to a brand new TM Saiga-12 SBS GBB; the chap who won that was a very happy chappie! Having got that out of the way, we went back out to play another game; as usual, I changed guns at lunchtime, putting the L1A1 away and taking out the Real Sword QBZ-97. The next game centred around Mr and Mrs Santa, who were sitting in the bus at the mortar pits. We had to grab Mr Santa and get him into the plane at the DEA Base, while the enemy had to grab Mrs Santa and get her to the town hall in the village; the teams started at the location where the enemy had to deliver their Santa and we all had 30m regens on a teammate. At the start of the game around 95% of our team went off to grab Mr Santa, leaving just five of us to guard the village; we soon started coming under pressure, with small groups of the enemy pushing on the village. Fortunately, their attacks were not coordinated, so we held them off. Our numbers started to grow as a few of our teammates drifted into the village to regen; at the same time, the enemy's attacks intensified. One of our players told me that, before being hit, he had seen some enemy players in the woods behind the village. I set off to look for them; moving into the woods, I heard voices, so hid in a friendly bush. Four enemy players appeared; I let them walk past me before shooting them all in the back. As no more appeared, I moved back into the village, joining in holding off enemy attacks until the shout of "Game over"; the rest of our team had got Santa into his plane, which was probably an upgrade from a sleigh pulled by magical flying reindeer! We finished the day with the ambush game; we had to walk along the main path in the village in column of twos and were not allowed to shoot or leave the path until the enemy, who were allowed to deploy anywhere within 30m of the path, opened fire. Our aim was to get one player into the building at the far end of the path within the time limit. Our regen was at our start point, while the enemy had two lives. Fortunately, an enemy player opened fire early, so those of us further back in the column were able to dive into the woods and undergrowth and start outflanking them. I am not sure what happened to the left of the path but, on the right, we had a hard fight along narrow paths until the enemy defence began to crumble. A player set off at a run for the target building, but the game ended a few seconds before he reached it. Thus ended an excellent day of airsoft; the site is big enough to absorb around 200 players without feeling crowded and the standards of play and of hit taking in the well designed games were high, with the games being played in a good spirit. Any battle belt converts out there who have ditched the vest/plate carrier?
ruskitseller and one other reacted to MrTea for a topic
Depends on where i'm playing and, sometimes, the RIF i'm using. I've found that i'm much more comfortable with a belt & yoke setup when playing outdoors as it lets me get flatter while not obscuring magazines for a reload but dislike the extra width when playing indoors CQB so I run a chest rig for that instead. After selling my last webbing setup, i've wanted another so i've been building a new one in MC Tropic ready for when I can get back outdoors next. Just need to find some MC Tropic M4 pouches. As for RIF, the only comfortable way i've found to store P90 mags is in the specific pouches that Viper make from a belt setup. The mags do fit in a chest rig but the length means i'm close to hitting myself in the chin with the mag.2 points -

Well... I started with an old set of 58 pattern coz it's what I wore in the TA but remembered how bloody heavy it was so got a set of PLCE in DPM which was fine until I thought 'Osprey looks cool', after wearing a set of Mk4 for one game I thought 'holy shit how can people wear this?', I then bought a battle belt with a six point yoke which suited me fine until I went GBBR ish and realised I needed loads of mags and pouches for them but once I was game ready I realised most of the mags were out of reach most of the time, I stuck with the belt until an alice set took my fancy but the mag pouches don't sit right with either 20 rnd or 30 rnd pouches, the US influence stayed & I went all ACU with an FLC which I was delighted with coz it fitted my AMPLE frame, I then went all OCD and got more ACU from Germany & the US with a TAP but it's too front heavy when magged up so I got an old issued DPM chest rig off ebay & it's the comfiest & most practical for me (so far), holds all the mags I want & I've fitted a holster to the short & only bit of belt it has. Basically the biggest hinderance to any kit I've tried is my fat gut & the chest rig sits on/above it nicely. p.s. as a fat lad I've had to modify every bit of field gear except the ACU (US army must cater for fatties) & the DPM chest rig. p.p.s. at some point of all that nonsense I got some Bundeswehr field gear in case I ever took my G36 or G3 to a game but I've not used it or them yet. p.p.ps. the ACU cost a fortune in postage so I'm unlikely to use them in game. p.p.p.p.s. thank god I'm a collector.2 points -

Guess it depends what you need to carry really , where and for how long ? imo there’s no better weight distribution than a well fitting plate carrier , but if you are spending most of your time on your belly in the woods then a belt kit makes more sense .2 points -

I use just a belt kit for most of my setups, but I have a proper harness for it so it's like a webbing kit; it's the Warrior Assault Systems PLB belt with the molle harness. It's all molle (and it is ALL FILLED, Mr. @Tackle, because that is the law), but I can still carry everything I need on it. For me, this is 2x double pistol mag pouches, 2x double .308 mag pouches, two medium vertical utility pouches and a medium horizontal utility pouch, all arranged symmetrically for weight distribution, with a water bottle pouch (for HPA tank or gas bottle) and radio pouch on the back and my antenna, headset, PTT and HPA line if applicable all threaded through the back molle and shoulder straps. It lets me go prone, crawl around and get nice and low to the ground which is very useful for sniping, but I still have plenty of space for everything I need on it. The only guns I use a chest rig these days with is my MWSs, because while I can carry 6x MWS mags in those two double .308 mag pouches, plus 4 spare pistol mags in the two double pistol mag pouches, that much weight all on the belt kit around my waist is a bit rubbish and moves about more than I'd like.2 points

My son has been using ExFog for over a year now and is very happy apart from that, he hasn’t found a good solution for mounting the tubes to his googles yet (but then he isn’t trying very hard either). I’ve recently received the Novrtisch Antifog Unit 2nd Gen and can now actually compare the two. First of all they both will do the job just fine, it is more about the features and the attachments they come with. Usability: The ExFog uses one button to toggle between different modes, low, medium, max, off while the Antifog has an analogue potentiometer aka knob and a ‘max’ button which goes to full power for 30 seconds to defog the glasses and then goes back to the current mode. IMHO the Antifog wins the usability. Having to toggle through the different modes is a bit annoying, having an analogue knob is more convenient. Tubing: The Antifog comes with green tubes so that is nice but they are a bit on the soft side and it is easy to get kinks. On the other side because the tubing is softer movements don’t tend to pull the tubings out of the glasses but just kink them. I guess that is a benefit. The ‘T’ attachment that comes with the Antifog has IMHO a more solid connection (it doesn’t disconnect as easily) as the magnetic adapter you now get with the new ExFogs but the ExFog connectors are more versatile. ExFog wins the attachments unless you have a google where you can actually use the T connector. Then the Novritsch adaptor is superior. Overall I would say ExFog wins the tubing one but time will tell. I haven’t been able to play with my Antifog yet thanks to a dodgy foot. The flexible tubing might not be an issue at all. Attachments: The Antifog only comes with some Velcro stickers, that’s it. I bought the Novritsch bonie with it which has Velcro on the back so that is not a problem and most helmets have Velcro patches on the back but if I play with my Barrett then I have a problem. Luckily I have all the attachments from my son’s ExFog. That comes with all the Velcro stickers and a head band so that you can wear the unit without anything. That head band just has a Velcro patch on so it works with the Antifog as well. The winner here is clearly the ExFog. Summary So even though the ExFog wins two out of the 3 categories here I would choose the Antifog on the field just because of the usability issue. The one complaint my son has with his ExFog is that his tubes come undone from his goggles. He routes them inside his helmet and they come straight down and he pushes them through holes on the top of his goggles. The tubes are quite stiff to avoid kinks but it also means that any shear force is likely to pull them out while some softer tubes might just kink for a bit and then relax again. Is anyone playing with Novritsch Antifog and can give their feedback on how the tubes behave?1 point

At my current massiveness I'd say the DPM chestrig but if I was a slimmer & fitter person I'd say the Mk4 Osprey but that's because I'd like to be more milsimy. I do like the idea of using the ACU FLC but tbh it's crappy cam for a Scottish forest (MTP is crappy too), old school DPM PLCE would be my go to if I could only pick one.1 point -

Good interesting vids thanks mate. I used to run a smersh many moons ago when I was in a big team. Good stuff. He is right about fitting the gear to the day/night. ruskitseller reacted to AK47frizzle for a topic
I went to battle belt for a few years but then eventually went back to the old d3rcm chest rig because: 1. Chest rig holds more 2. Easier to grab stuff from chest 3. Doesnt bob up and down as much when running, big one for me 4. Uneven weight distribution on a chest rig is well supported. On a belt, I normally have a utility pouch for extra bbs, co2 etc that ends up being heavier which makes one part of the belt droop down further and feels uncomfortable.1 point -

Only load-bearing vest such as smersh, PLCE, 6Sh117 with the majority of weight and volume distributed around the hips and waist. https://youtu.be/m8_fvqWSEXs?si=dDkWkcp_iPMO5gql https://youtu.be/Qhxz7vEuVb8?si=GtzTTuJXhhBUMKak1 point -

most woodland games I’ll run a chest rig and a pistol on the trouser belt , usually a split front chest rig so if you end up prone for a while you can split the front for a bit more comfort , these types usually give a decent bit of wrap as well so utility stuff ends up under the armpits but with most of the weight forward lower back pain can come on strong . Belt kits have their place for long extended games and especially if you need to carry a pack too , but if you spend a lot of time prone again it can be awkward for the reach around ( ooh err ) really depends how much you need to carry , I run Mid & low caps , usually 6 on the rig & one in the gun and like moving around so need to carry enough , but also get to them quite quickly and a belt kit bouncing around doesn’t do it for me. I’ll say this as well , and it may sound odd but a well fitted plate carrier with some actual weight in it ( dummy or real weighted plates ) is way more comfortable for extended use than a nylon bag with foam in it and all your oddments scattered over it .1 point
-
There's definitely an element of truth to that, I mainly use single shot, so can often get away with 1 or 2 hicaps for most of a gameday, & while I always start with some sort of load carrying equipment the break at lunchtime leaves me feeling more knackered than if I'd played through, so I'll often ditch the LCE & play on with one in the gun & another in my pocket.1 point

Any battle belt converts out there who have ditched the vest/plate carrier?
ruskitseller reacted to Tackle for a topic
As well as airsoft I've applied my irl experience to this, nearly 40 years ago we didn't have plate carriers, it was 58 pattern, essentially belt & braces kit, but the materials were heavy & got heavier when wet, so I remember switching to belt kit, mainly yank equipment, when ever I could get away with it, army rules & regs etc meant anything involving above platoon or maybe company level would get you a bollocking or worse. Back then the belts weren't padded, but I had a waist, & blousing your smock gave you a bit of padding to stop things rubbing, assuming you weren't overloading your belt order. Fast forward to when I started airsofting, PC was one of my first purchases, but I soon realised that unless your fitter than a butchers dog, wrapping your core in all that heavy duty nylon/corduroy will soon have you sweating like Jimmy Saville in an orphanage, plus all that molle MUST be filled, it's the law, so i soon changed to chest rig, type with an open back & not too much coverage on the front, bulle mle remains my favourite, although I've got plenty of others. Still trying to get back in to belt rigs but middle age spread has meant I've lost a defined waist, so unless I run it super tight (which aggravates my dodgy lower back) it will slip down a bit. Alternatively, grab bags, or looking at helikon tmr etc could be a consideration, smaller rigs will force you to reconsider what you carry in game, which in turn should alleviate some of the pressure on you back. IMHO🤔1 point -

Lol, I'm only rattling your chain😜, I've a couple of spring snipers that are bog standard stock, if I ever got in to sniping properly then I'd consider c02 bolts to start with, but I'm fearful once you start the upgrade process, it can get silly expensive & a sometimes fruitless money pit. Got a couple of electric snipers too, but I view them in the same category as dmr's, would seem unfair to run them at snipers limits, be too easy ? Most definitely, when noobs start talking about "upgrading" their one & only rif, I'm like "spend the money you'll waste getting a few more fps on a second rifle for backup". Too many times I've been on site only to see players packing up early cos their only gun has died, I'll always offer a loaner if they don't look like a headcase🤡1 point

Also second the notion of something Double Eagle flavoured with the Falcon Fire mosfet, they're class and pretty much unbeatable for the money unless you fancy fucking around and tinkering. My mate bought a M904E around two and a half years ago when we first started playing and it's sat as old reliable the entire time, never missed a beat and even survived me when I had no idea what I was doing (because turns out, buying epic upgraded G36s off used airsoft doesn't mean it'll work or be any good). If you think he'd fancy something a little more SMG shaped, the UTR-45 is another solid choice by Double Eagle and pretty much has the same internals, although the mags can be a little bothersome with regards to carrying as they're UMP flavoured and come with the quirks as such.1 point -
