  3. Places like this do not lend themselves well to paintball I played the infamous paintball game at the Mall. It should have been run as a limited numbers & limited paint game, but then the costs don’t add up - it would have needed to be well trusted and experienced organiser to be able to charge high enough entry prices for any chance of viability ( and originally it would have been with a scheduled event and aiming powder balls, but somebody else also jumped the bandwagon and secured an earlier date ) They soon discovered they had bit off more than they could chew, opened it to unlimited paint to up the income. In minutes the whole place was soaked with clear paint. Carpets absorbed and were full of liquid gel, marble floors were ice rinks. Game one was ended early and then the long wait for all the sawdust in the area to be bought and thrown around the site It didn’t get much better Assaults on shop doorways were no surprise - just watch the opposition pass the big window and squeeze the trigger as they get to the door Walls didn’t need to be knocked in etc as the back service corridors could be used whilst others were stuck in stalemates at the shop fronts Airsoft just leaves plastic balls around which can be swept up - just avoid stepping on concentrations of BBs From what I heard for weeks later, the paint was ‘bleeding’ out of the carpets for airsofter games Rent and rates will be the real killer. As soon as there’s any use the rates become active, so it’s not always an existing cost for the owners - if they are stuck with rates then at least some income from game days reduces costs, or sometimes concessions can be made with councils such as for short term pop up shops etc & as you mentioned charity concessions can work

  4. I do / did like a good game in foul weather. A couple of memorable ones were: 1) Falklands themed game with authentic weather. Many players had gone home before lunchtime, parts of the safe zone were blowing away, I was soaked through and covered in mud but had multiple sets of clothes allowing me to change at the break and to change for the drive home with the prospects of soaking in a hot bath when home. (this game also gave me the stories of my broadcasting expletives on box when poking my head into a window, and the husband of a colleague arriving home to find his wife laundering my stinking bin bag of playing clothes) 2) A snowy Christmas game where I thought that I was being clever with a set of thermals. Lovely and toasty for the morning brief, sweaty mess for game one I would typically be fine if I’m enjoying myself in the cold and wet - provided I can look forward to later and I’ve prepared. My body dislikes the heat, and it’s easier to warm up then cool down But I do now have Raynaud’s phenomenon (like Raynaud’s syndrome but I’m special) - this is also just in one finger tip! Raynaud’s plus cold equals pain - so I now don’t like the cold and I don’t like the heat A couple of weeks back I declined the option of a game - early Sunday morning on a miserable day in a standard woods site - a warm lie in won. Improve one of the factors and I may have been up for it

  9. Before I started playing airsoft I wanted to get a gen 3 G17 as it's the base for the 2012 version of Dredds Law Giver. My plan was, and still is, get one, 3d print the kit, fit it and run around the site saying "I am the Law!"

  12. I'm baffled by how the economics would make sense, if they're paying rent and rates. The Depot 1.0 was set up as sports chaaaridy, which is the only way I can see it coming close to working.

Ok, so I went with M105 spring from xt. Very consistent at 1.18 and 1.19J on .25 with hop off. I could only find .4g bbs but they gave me 1.17 and 1.18J. I still have to hop it so this is the peak energy and hop will scrub some off.

  20. As an observation, that is quite a restrictive DMR rule at that particular site. Only 1.48j/400FPS AND a 30m MED is fairly punitive, and I'm not sure the extra few meters range that could be achieved with the additional circa .3J would in any way outweigh the disadvantage of a 30m MED. As a comparison, I'm used to playing at a site whose DMR rules are 1.88J (equivalent of 450fps on a 0.2g BB), and has a MED of 25m. The additional power allowable gives you a more meaningful edge over the typical AEG, and the slightly lower MED gives you less occasions when you need to switch to a sidearm, and more of a fighting chance to be within the useful range of your side arm when you do have to switch. Honestly, with the DMR rules at your site as they are, it would seem better to focus on squeezing all possible performance out of the gun whilst remaining below the standard 1.13J limit in my view. edit: to add, i would expect that the measures which you have listed would do a very good job of extracting maximum performance out of the rig, at whatever power level you decide upon, but i will defer to the opinions of others who have better knowledge of this particular platform.

Wonder if it’s the same guy referenced in this post? Can’t find the airsoft site on companies house but I assume that’s the owners Mrs on the other businesses which doesn’t inspire confidence that’s he’s not barred from being a director.

  26. I believe that anything after the Gen 3's should fit in a standard holster. I know the original Glock 17 wouldn't, but I've got a Gen 3 Glock 19 that fits in genuine holsters and I think the same should go for the 17's.

Or the PTS EPM-G (disregarding price 😂) https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/pts-syndicate-epm-g-enhanced-polymer-aeg-mid-cap-magazine which fit into m4 pouches, go directly into the g36 and feeds beautiful. They fit and feed, from my experience in: S&T JG Cyma Ares/VFC/Umarex GSG

Those 60s look like a decent size, but if you're after price and practicality, then an M4 / STANAG magwell will give you far more choice. I run short M4 mags in my G36 without any feeding issues (after a little bit of filing and sanding of the magwell)

  42. Picked up a M16A4 from a friend today for a good price, ordered an E&C M16A2 receiver with burst engraved, genuine M16 triangle for an M203, as well as an M203 and old school heat shield. Also bought a Gate Aster to have the burst mode. All of this because I watched Generation Kill again.

  44. Well, you are being suckered by bbgnus4less unscrupulous marketing strategy …… Their pricing is high for some items from the offset so as they can legally show a massive reduction eventually, fooling a novice player/purchaser into thinking there is a genuine saving there Looks like Defcon are on the right page I Haven’t analysed the specs of either of the replicas to compare products for pros n cons But the former of the two retailers, seldomly comes up with a bargain 😉
