  1. To be fair, an organisation that doesnt charge for its use or for that matter be particularly overbearing with engagement (as evidenced by my penny pinching self having thorougjly forgotten i'd signed up) it's hard to care that much about what they do. Yes in principle a single unified body representing our hobby sounds like exactly what we need, ultimately many folks simply dont notice or care the "on the ground" effect and thus are unlikely to give a monkeys if #3457 of their 10000+ strong email spam list are or are not in breach of their constitution. Until ukapu gets the widespread site engagement that means you'd realistically notice and care for a ukapu approval notice on their webpage then the majority of players are unlikely to care so deeply for how its run. Having left the hobby precisely because of a lack of consistent good management amongst the sites i have access to it seems obvious to me that what this sport needs is not government lobbying or annual general meetings, but a widespread network of sites that agree with a real world noticable effect on performing duties such as marshalling, good chronograph practice and site bans that not only stick at the sites that initated them but at others in their region. But alas we're stuck with sites that ask "what size bb's are you using?" With no real effort to understanding the effects of joule creep or for that matter the difference between joules and velocity measurements despite it being something anyone with a gcse in physics should at least understand the implications of even if they remain ignorant of the factors that cause it. Hell even when explained something as simple as "you can put a cable tie on most hpa regulators, here's how you do it *cable ties his own regulator to demonstrate*" or "you know you can can just print the site fps limit of various common bb weights and sellotape it on the back of the chono" is largely ignored with at best a token effort to ask what weight of bb's a player is running

  2. Is it really? I mean really, really? Stop to look at the context - we run (or amble with intent) around, playing dress-up pretend solders, with toy guns to shoot little plastic balls at each other. In the grand scheme of things - nobody else gives a shit about how the organisation handles their constitution. I know I don't. You've laboured your point - if you have an issue with UKAPU - email them.

  3. Tbh at this point i'm not sure how the argument started, what its about or how its continuing, it seems to be mostly arguing about how people are being argumentative in their arguments from argumenters who argue they arent argumentative as an an argument to the argumenter they're arguing against.

  4. Guys. I would like to give a BIG Shout out to Colin Allen, I had a problem with my 1911 Cybergun, my favourite pistol, it had stopped working and was losing all the gas, Colin was the first to answer my question and also followed it up by personal messages with explanation of what to do to fix it and how to do it, its wonderful finding guys like Colin who go out of their way to help others, It is a wonderful site with some great guys, Thanks again Colin. If there is a better way to put people off joining UKAPU then I’d like to see it. At the beginning of the thread I was considering becoming a member, but what with the general back-and-forthing and bylaws being referenced like lives depended on it I’ll steer well clear. This is supposed to be a fun sport. None of what I’m seeing above is anything near the definition of fun. I’ll take my chances with UKARA being sensible enough to protect their livelihoods (and therefore the game).

Yep I am really mature (in years lol), but your really boring, kinda droning on, maybe you'd be better taking your concerns to email or pm, this is supposed to be a fun place chatting about a fun hobby, & your sucking the fun out of it like an internet vampire.

  17. I've got a mate coming off deployment and a weekender at a club I've wanted to be more involved in for a while. Another western game at fireball should happen in September. Six shooters, mates and moonshine, makes an excellent weekend. Just secured a load of tooling to make bespoke bits at home and would really like to break into the film/tv armoury industry and make some interesting airsoft bits.

  18. Looking forward to many things, mostly getting back to playing after some back issues recently I need to get down to Red1 Chiselhurst one last time to get my ukara finally. Then I have my eye on heading to imperium for one of their epic looking game days soon. Then I'm going to make it my quest to try and get some of my buddies to come play with me!

  20. Seems like a whole bunch of negativity recently (and I'm struggling to find events of interest).....so....... What event, Weekender, thing, product, game style etc is coming up that you're excited about? Can't think of anything? What would you like to see? I'm pretty excited for the milsim esque night games at gunman tuddenham to coming back. I've got the excitement bug back for a classic skirmish day and gear wise I'm stripping bs stuff but realistic kit (eg, losing the pistol, spare pistol mags etc on a rural kit).

  22. Real steel magazines would be a no. They are not airsoft. A real steel stock or scope can be used on a toy gun, but a real magazine does not really meet that standard.

  24. When they've got close to £20k precariously sitting in a PayPal balance, and this election is supposed to help fix a lot of the issues covered in this post, yes it is. When a Constitution is the only thing that binds an unincorporated association, because they have no independent legal personality, then absolutely it matters. The fact that you "don't give a shit" and are arrogant enough to try and speak for others, just shows how ignorant and nonchalant you are in this matter -- so your feeble attempt at condescending tripe, really doesn't matter. Clearly you've never been involved in running such orgs, or you wouldn't be so flippant - but evidently you just had to jump in and have your little dig. Hope you think you're such a big, strong man for barking orders and saying your spiel ? - I know I don't.

  25. More trolling from you, how unoriginal ? I asked a relevant question about the Constitution being disregarded -- which is of paramount importance, given it's the only thing that binds the unincorporated association of UKAPU -- it's members and committee -- together. You, however, made a bunch of petty and unsolicited personal attacks - then thought to push irrelevant personal questions - when my membership of *any* org is neither relevant to the points I raised (or indeed this topic), nor any of your damn business. Oh, and I'm not your "bud," so drop the condescending BS - it's not big, it's not clever, and you're transparent af.

  27. i'd argue it's sufficiently airsoft adjacent to be ok, we don't bat an eyelid at an RS optic or RS furniture so there's precedent that unregulated RS components are fine. all that seperates an rs mag from an airsoft mag is a donor cyma, a dremel and a lot of swearing.

  30. My recommendation for imperium is to go to the ground war day. I really like the site, but get frustrated on skirmish days. Due to the sites size and effectively 2 game zones - it can be like herding 200 cats in and out at the end of games, it's taken upto 20/30 minutes. Ground war is just a morning and afternoon game, if players need extra ammo etc, take it to respawn, or go back to the safe zone under their own steam. Make use of the vehicle mounted MGs if they're working, but they are BB magnets.

The press officer is just that, if you want to effect change you need to go to the right part of the organisation, go and speak to the chairperson or secretary privately where the conversation can be constructive. There are ways of doing things and I don't believe that you'll get the answers or change you are looking for on a thread in a forum. Better still, if you really want to make changes to the way UKAPU is run then get involved, elected officer or not, I'm sure they'd welcome your passion for ensuring things are done right. Happy to sign up for UKAPU if anyone wants a nomination for a position at the next AGM - once they've given proper notice and we get the nomination in more than 45 days ahead of the vote of course. Personally, I'd not heard of UKAPU before this thread, it's been interesting to find out what they do.

  43. I don't need noisy mags to accomplish that feat. Running in the wrong direction with the flag in CTF, getting lost in the woods trying to find respawn, walking into the enemy respawn, dumping half a mag into a bush thinking its a ghillie suit... I think I'm well past the point of saving my credibility. Whilst the boy is set on hicaps, I'm considering some midcaps not so much for the silence but just for the fun/pseudo-realism of mid game reloads. Landwarrior have a set of 5 midcap M4 mags for £20 which seems like a good deal if they work.

Feel like a lot has been taken out of context here, I posted to check the website is legit as so many red flags started to show after I placed the order, not complain I hadn't got received the batteries yet. Thought that was more clear but obviously!that didn't come across. @TacticalWaifu unfortunately the world where I spend most of my waking hours errors like not sending emails on time or doing something that's been agreed verbally or written are reportable to industry regulators. Whilst I get people are only human I sometimes forgot the ridiculous standards I'm used to having to follow. If you haven't worked in an environment like that be glad. Sorry if I got everyone's back riled up because I was concerned about the website being a scam. Although the fact no one seemed concerned over the other red flags who hadn't used the website before is worrying in some ways. In this case harmless in another case you never know. Tldr: website is legit, I've annoyed everyone for spotting some potential scam signs. Will say reason I didn't call is because they aren't going to admit a scam over the phone and with written proof (emails) it makes it easier to raise disputes in the future if needed. Force of habit getting stuff in writing as ensures it never becomes a he said, she said argument.

  48. I have thoughts about the stacking mags thang... feel free to totally ignore, but here we go... I have a G36 and a SIG with stackable mags. And in the past I've also used the clips to hold two AK mags together. They're pretty cool as an idea, but here's my take: 1) If you're using high caps, then you have a double set of Tactical Maraccas bouncing around in front of you. If you 'shock absorb' your gun as you move then arguably this is quieter than having the second mag (which should be absolutely brimmed to minimize noise) in your belt or chest rig... but I suspect much of the time it'll be the gun that's moving the most when you want to be quiet. Depends how 'ninja' you are as to whether this is any concern really! 2) A second (and maybe even third) mag on your gun adds weight. If you're lucky the mags don't weigh toooooo much, but add in the ~300 BBs and it's more you're carrying with your arms than letting the rig do the work. I've probably just had a flash-back to the AK there, because the naked gun was light, and the extra mag therefore made a really noticeable difference. 3) If you're thinking "Ah, you silly sausage, I always choose mid-caps" then you end up needing to store extra mags in a belt or chest rig, and those connecting lugs are a bit annoying as they can make getting the mags in and out of pouches rather tiresome. I have currently have just two high-caps for my G36, so for the moment I'll put up with the rattle and I'll use them connected together. They're quite light mags, and brand new so I don't want to start attacking them with a hacksaw But for my SIG where I currently have 4 mags, those lugs are off so I can get them in and out of my polymer pouches as easily as possible.

  49. It makes no difference. The only gear that isn't balanced is the sector gear, but the sector gear is arrested and under load from the piston/spring and spur for 50% for the time. So you will see more load wobble from that than you will from gear imbalance. SS 2 teeth and you can't even feel any speed wobble over the rest of the gearbox working. Bearings get crushed/fail because of the spring and the load that puts through the bearing, not because the gears are resonating. Basically slap yourself round the face.

  50. I have one Turnigy nano tech battery, it has been good. I think I had another a while ago but I managed to get clumsy when converting it to Dean's and shorted the bare wires (not on each other, but across something metal on my desk), puffed it! What are Hobby King's delivery times like though? Edit: The user interface fooled me (again) into thinking I couldn't buy the battery... figured it out on the second look. However, only shipped from Hong Kong, so the delivery time is too long, and it costs £24! Which kills the advantage of the low price of £6 for the 1400mAH stick. I might order a few for future use, or resale here.
