    Hi all

Not really helpful either.... That's a good 40% of the airsoft community, 🤣

  2. Yep, If I sell to someone without UKARA I ask them to agree in a message that they will use it for airsoft purposes only and no illegal activity.

  3. Errr. You do require[*] a defence to sell a RIF. You don't require anything to purchase, or attempt to purchase one within the UK, as long as you're 18+. Practically speaking, it's up to the buyer to provide the seller with some evidence that they can adduce as their defence, even if it's just a declaration about the intended purposes. But it's the seller that requires that defence. Pragmatically speaking, nobody is going to be done for a private sale of a RIF. If the tools of the State ever do take an interest (and they don't seem inclined to) it'll be easier for them to go after retailers. [*] Legally speaking

  4. Not going to buy any more pews... DAMIT! I really like the Barry Burton style M9 pistol but its too expensive so I found a cheapo version... The HFC HG193 from the shop that shall not me named. (Was on offer for £99.99 and its the new all metal version. Note the hole in the hammer) It took some tinkering with the internals. (The hop rubber wasn't seated properly and a bit of the slide benefited from some filing) When I got it the fps was 260 but after my tinkering its up to 300fps It now shoots really well (for a cheapo gun) (It does have adjustable hop with a grub screw) The compensator unit is easy to remove with one screw underneath but still holds well with no wobble as it slides onto the rails of the frame underneath. So its easy to convert into a 92X Performance model. (Have to ignore the stupid engraving tho) After my usual treatment of a new pew 😉 I also added some extra weight to the front. Its now a nice hefty 1.14Kg

I wasn't really happy with the burnt chrome finish I did on my Honey Badger so I redid it with cerakote Magpul FDE.

  8. It’s the fine print, so can look contradictory You don’t require any UKARA membership or special status to sell But as seller it is you who are responsible under the VCRA - which means you the seller are responsible for ensuring that they have a valid VCRA ‘defence’ being their purpose for buying a RIF The buyer has no legal responsibility under the VCRA, but a seller should only sell to a buyer under one of the VCRA defences Cosplay is not a defence, but there is a dodgy cosplay insurance that a retailer put together UKARA is a defence, which a buyer may have. Anything else that they can present to you which you are willing to accept that they are an airsoft player will do - it’s unlikely but it someone caught a dickhead, told the police it was bought from you and a prosecution takes place then you may have to present your case as to why you reasonably believed they are an airsofter intending to play on an insured site Other defences exist such as museum, theatrical TV & film (but not YouTube prankster)

  9. Thank you all so much for your advice. Never found a forum so full of knowledge and genuinely helpful information. I've decided to go for the M908A, simply because I like the length of the handrail as my first gun and everyone said that at the end of the day, just go for what you like the look of. Knowing that the stock will hold the bigger capacity batteries from the get go is a huge plus so thank you Rostok for that info. Thanks to Rogerborg I know to go for the SkyRC S65 as a battery charger. Can anyone recommend some batteries? I'll go for some 11.1 Lipo's. Which nunchuck batteries should I go for? One final question about the gun itself. The gun that attracted me to the DE series in the first place was the M904H. I like the way that the suppressor was sunk into the handrail. Is this possible to do with the M908A and if so, is it simply a case of buying a special type of suppressor or would I have to change the barrel for a shorter one. Or would this not work at all because the handrail would be in the way. Is there anything else I've missed out on in buying the gun. I will have the gun, batteries, a charger and BB's once I know what to get. Once I look at upgrading the internals I'll drop fatboy40 a message. He seems to know his stuff. Thanks. (Also, really enjoyed seeing all of your pictures. Your guns look ace.)

  10. The BBs drop out of most guns, don't worry about that, they're the ones released into the feed tube and held in by the pressure of the BBs still in the mag underneath. Take the mag out, they fall. No worries! There's a nice red dot on Amazon, a lot of us have used these at some point, they're good value... https://amzn.eu/d/bLte0wA It might need a little riser to go under it, so it's not blocked by the front sight on the gun... Something like this perhaps (just chose a cheap one, he might prefer a different look) https://amzn.eu/d/0mpNPYq

  12. Yeahhhhhh. Bulldog don't have a great reputation. In fact it's probably got the worst reputation. Even for the BBs, they tend to be the quickest way to jam up a gun 😐 Well, good luck, maybe you got a good un. Buy some better BBs from your site or the shop at the earliest chance, but in the meantime tell your son not to keep pulling the trigger if the gun stops shooting for any reason. Hopefully, if it does, it'll just be two or three BBs stuck in the barrel and you can gently push them back out with the unjamming rod that should be in the box. 0.20g BB will be fine to start with. If you get a Double Eagle or a Cyma then stepping up to 0.25s would be ideal for those.

    Selling without a defence.

Contrasting answers here. Interesting to hear you don’t need one to purchase as I thought you definitely did. Am I misunderstanding what you said there? Looking at the law it doesn’t say much about private sellers so do I need to go and get myself a defence before I sell (don’t really want to as that costs money hence why I’m not using them). I know whomever I sell to needs to give me their defence to purchase from me. As I understand I don’t need to own a UKARA or something in my name to sell. Is this correct? Thanks again everyone.

  16. I'd say try the Namsoft pages on FB, they will probably have more direct experience. There aren't going to be any goggles from Bolle, ESS, Revision etc that are designed to work with an M1 because that's just not a thing. Maybe a set of ESS Advancers (based on being similar shapewise to the ASG ones you mentioned. Otherwise, what about a FogEx blower attached somewhere inconspicuous?

    Hi all

Mate I'll probably be wheezing and sweating pure kebab grease. 🤣 Thanks for the tips guys, I'll prob be there early as I'm not far away and have a deep hatred of being late to anything, usually I end up parked somewhere in a layby waiting for stuff to open. I should be recognisable by my stupid girlie hair and dumb look on my face. 😁

  20. Maybe consider attaching the drop leg to the PLCE belt, especially when you get the yoke for the kit - it’ll take the weight off your trouser belt and alleviate any mid-skirmish “bear shitting in the woods” impressions…! As far as “Milspec” PLCE set up, the generic used to be one double ammo on the left and then 4 utility/water bottle pouches filled with useless crap! At least, that’s what my skinny frame fitted.

  21. No problem - you don’t require anything as the seller of a RIF
    1 point
  22. Thanks for the replies and feedback. Must apologise as I didn’t phrase my question properly. I’m aware of how the VCRA affects purchasing. I Should’ve asked if I personally need a defence to sell. I’ve never held a UKARA no. or anything as I never purchased the RIFs and one isn’t required to own them. Will that be a problem if I sell? or does VCRA only apply to purchasing. Thanks again

  23. Think it was Ollie talks Airsoft but along the lines of in a standard mws they didn't work that well. I have an mws and have never been interested in the 20 round style mags so I can't say I focused too much on why, just lodged in the noggin they weren't great.

    Airsoft CIWS anyone.

Not much practical use, other than as an event prop (or a publicity piece), a ‘ship’ is among the easy things to build on a site (which of course wouldn’t be a floaty thing) That kind of rate of fire is no good for customers to be up against, but an automated system that fires bursts gives a difficult opposition with an objective to achieve We’ve had our own at our events, hired out to other events and featured on TV. You can pit an MTV presenter up against one before they up themselves to B list ‘celebrity’ or generic players can fall into a puddle

  27. Got my AKX. Generally happy with it. It’s hot on Green gas and the stock hop unit struggles with anything over 0.25s. I’ve fitted a Bavtac nub and a nineball air seal hop rubber, I’m now flinging 0.28s dead straight with the hop on its lowest setting. im waiting on a volante full travel bolt and a TBB. currently my AKX doesn’t have the hammer strength to depress the exit valve of my G&P mags using Nuprol 2.0. So I need to figure out how to solve that. I suspect the easiest solution will be to change a spring in the trigger box. But I haven’t looked yet. Alternative is to fit OEM Marui exit valves… which I haven’t been able to source.

  28. The High Capa is vastly superior to the Tac Master M9. The Tac Master M9 is the version 1 design which maybe late 90s design ( all TM designated M92F as well). If you want a TM M9 you need to get a M9A1 or M9 they are much more modern design (newer than the HI Capa) with a better blow back system and hop unit. The Hi Capa has a much more after market support as is far more customisable with more parts availability compared to the M9/M9A1. Performance wise they are as good as each other ( i couldn't really tell the difference). the base Hi Capas are cheaper than the M9/M9A1. Never had a Hi Capa break on me the M9 right hand side decocker stopped working after a while the left hand side still worked and the right still acted as a safety. The more practical choice is the Hi Capa but i prefer the M9 and yes all TM M9/M92F mags are cross compatible..

    Hi all

I'm another newb (also the wrong side of 40), my son and I had our first Airsoft game at Special Ops this bank holiday Monday just gone. Was a great day, Carlos and the team there are all very helpful. Food as mentioned above was great and you will have worked up an appetite for it. We're planning to go back soon, once UKARA registered I'll be waterboarding my credit card to fund kit for me and the boy. Spoke to a few of the regulars (possibly some of you guys who have replied - if so hello!) during the day and everyone was happy to chat and give advice, certainly no sense of gatekeeping or elitism that I experienced. Really enjoyed it, had some great battles, one memorable moment saw me exchanging fire with a couple of guys maybe 60 meters away from cover. Took out the first guy, then tried to walk my shots to the second as he was returning fire. We both took each other out more or less simultaneously so both took the hit. Quick thumbs up to acknowledge good-game and then back to the respawn. Some tips from my recent experience: The car park is small (though I think they have some extra parking further down), so arriving a little earlier probably means you'll get a better chance at a space. If you are renting gear, the above is also true as you'll want time to collect your kit. Take advantage of the range in the safe area (netted section towards the back) to test fire your gear. Their rental stuff is tough but well used, my first mag wouldn't wind and the hop-up needed adjustment on my gun. All easily rectified but better to find out before you are in the field. Ask questions in the game briefings if you're not sure. It took me most of the day to get a vague mental picture of the site in my head, during briefings there is a lot of arm waving and naming of map features you won't yet know. Better to ask someone to confirm a spawn point or objective then rather than mid battle. Your legs are gonna burn afterwards.

    Ukrainian AR 15 (UAR)

As always with such things it depends how close you wanna get. Within the ballpark? Literally easier than falling off a log, it's a tan AR with keymod and magpul furniture. 100% exact replica? Impossible far as I can see.

  34. As with the other posters a ‘Defence’ is required under the VCRA for the sale of RIFs but the definition of ‘defence’ in the act isn’t necessarily the English language definition As a seller it is you that has responsibilities under the act, and in the rare possibility that you could find yourself in court you would need to (English language definition) defend that you reasonably believed the buyers intended use fell within the VCRA defined defences. It is not a legal requirement for the buyer to have a valid UKARA number. Only the various purposes quoted above. If you can show that you reasonably believed that the buyer intended to play on an insured skirmish site and is aged over 18 then you are legal The ideal is to ask for UKARA details (if you can check them of course), but their social media account full of airsofting photos, or an established member of this forum would be good enough A social media account full of chav posing outside the off licence would not be considered ideal
    1 point
  35. Well, legally speaking you do need a defence[*]. Practically speaking, don't flog them to Big Baz behind the pub. [*] https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/37 (a) the purposes of a museum or gallery; (b) the purposes of theatrical performances and of rehearsals for such performances; (c) the production of films (within the meaning of Part 1 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (c. 48)_see section 5B of that Act); (d) the production of television programmes (within the meaning of the Communications Act 2003 (c. 21)_see section 405(1) of that Act); (e) the organisation and holding of historical re-enactments organised and held by persons specified or described for the purposes of this section by regulations made by the Secretary of State; (f) the purposes of functions that a person has in his capacity as a person in the service of Her Majesty. or, added later, "permitted activities", including "airsoft skirmishing", particularly where third party liability insurance is held. You'll hear people talking about "UKARA", which is really just a central list of people who have site membership. Personally I'd be happy selling to anyone who can tell me where they play, and show any sort of evidence of it.
    1 point
  36. Yes mate go for it. Don't sell to under 18 and you should really check that the buyer has a defense or is a legitimate user. Just don't sell to anyone who you think might be a dickhead and might go roaming the streets with it. Regards
    1 point
  37. Well, I’ve had a bit more of a play and I have to say, I’m extremely happy. I have no idea what it’ll be like to skirmish with, accuracy, power or longevity of parts, but for my purposes as a collection, display gun, it is absolutely awesome. It feels solid, everything clicks nicely and it looks beautiful, as you’d expect from VFC. Unfortunately, it has the same bolt block feature that the VFC MP5 has, which prevents the bolt and charging handle slamming forward with an empty magazine inserted. It does have a dry fire mode on the magazine, but it only appears to work for one shot, then clicks back over to normal mode. All in all, I’m a very happy bunny. Bring on the VFC M249.

  40. I have found that the SADF M83* chest rig can carry 6x M4 gas mags and two BFGs and will not feel heavy or make my back complain after a days play. With 6x AEG mags in it disappears. Can be found for £50-60 if you search around. I would steer clear of the micro-chest rigs as these are fine for 3 mags and sitting in a vehicle as that was their design. Arktis chest rig (or the MoD DPM ones from a surplus store) are another good bet. The Platac Peacekeeper Mk4/5 or other more recce rigs might be good for weigh distribution that is key. Also don't take anything out that you don't need! Mags, bangs, water (if hot / long games) and essential meds (Epi Pen, not that knock off tourniquet from Amazon PLEASE!) If you can Get away with 2 Hi-Cap mags - 1 in the gun, other stuffed in a trouser pocket and some Mk5s in the other = all set *Note this is NOT the M83 battle jacket / tactical waistcoat - unless your Airsoft game is going to last 3 days 😆
