WE gbbRifles

For fps, I’d probably recommend the angry gun mpa complete nozzle BUT replace the rear oring with the stock WE nozzle oring ( the AG one is a bit baggy and can stick in the bolt carrier) also do the bolt stop/ release mod for reliable bolt locking. Everything else is gravy. I also use the yellow maple leaf autobot rubbers with the stock hop chamber too.2 points -

Mine get an RAtech Npas, 50 degree M/L rubber , Omega nub and Crazy jet barrel. I'have used red gas all year round with no issues but usually switch to green when it gots hot. Yep just replace things when they fail. I do have RAtech trigger componants in my 119 A1 but only 'cos I had them sat there not because the stock ones had failed. .30's work well2 points -

Just a heads up. I no longer work with skirmshop, I quit some time ago, due to the actions and conduct of the 2 dutch shareholders. Skirmshop UK, has been ran into the grooundup and they've renamed as skirmshop Ireland LTD (albeit trading as skirmshop UK). A number of people seem to have had issues with them recently and tried to contact me. I have no relationship with them anymore and, have no association with them, so am unable to help. If you have issue regarding orders or being owed money, I suggest you contact them, trading standards or HMRC.2 points -

I'm afraid I made old Jeff a bit richer by using Amazon. I think I was spoiled for choice due to my child sized hands, less oddly tiny appendaged folks might struggle. Gotta get and play with all this gear I keep buying now! 😄1 point

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
Nick G reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Two new guns in separate purchases on the same page in this thread? Don't mind if I do, sir! I think I'm really getting the hang of this airsoft lark ("Buy more guns. Don't even need to shoot them, just keep buying...") It's the G&G GEC36 from Action Hobbies boneyard, so a decent price. Two mid cap mags. Blimey this gun is built solidly! It's about the same weight as my HK416. Really nice polymer (plus metal in the right places). Not the faintest hint of a creak from it, even the folding stock doesn't budge a millimetre. I think I could beat a stegosaurus to the death with it! Which is handy, as it's still Tamiya wired so I've not fired it yet. No dino-hunting for me, until the soldering iron can be found... Edit: Deans fitted (took me longer to find the soldering iron than anything else), the guns a peach. 340fps on 0.20s, very nice 18rps on an 11.1v I'll have to fit a MOSFET on it to protect the trigger contacts as this another gun I don't want to open the gearbox of, in case I spoil it somehow.1 point -
I have tried just pickup previously and ran into timing issues with the tappet plate but when I took a equal amount from both ends those issues disappeared and I've had some really nice results with accuracy and and a nice snappy semi auto and 3 round burst1 point

I feel so sorry for that poor M14 😢 though it is probably less butchered than what I have done to one of my M14s 🤣... I need to get back to Red Alert at some point soon, it is such a nice field and so well run, the lunch is always a great bonus there. Off to Abingdon this Sunday to play there, hopefully I can get another clear weekend soon and make it back up to Red Alert Newbury again.1 point -
Short stroking 4 teeth on 200mm barrel
SSPKali reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
The main issue with short stroking is voluming, if you've got the gun volumed correctly then as long as the piston is clearing the front of the port then you're not gonna mess up the voluming from short stroking. If you're happy with that level on a longer barrel then you aint gonna have issues with shorter. As for pickup/release, i've always tend to go predominantly from pickup. The following paragraph is me trying (and probably failing) to explain my thinking: When its being released the tappet plate is under spring tension and takes time to close, and its not ideal for accuracy to be releasing the piston before then. If you only take from the pickup side then the tappet plate will be retracting earlier (relative to the piston) but releasing at the same time (as an un-modified sector) whereas if you take from the release side then the tappet plate will be closing later relative to the piston (ie less time between tappet closing and piston closing) and could mean it doesnt have time to close fully before the air starts coming. Needless to say for a snappier build this isn't ideal. Ofc main issue with taking from just the pickup is the sector might pick up the tappet before the piston, meaning there's no braking effect from the piston to slow the sector a tad before it engages the tappet. Although with a decently pokey motor odds are it wont be slowing that much on pickup anyway.1 point -
Want to upgrade my SCAR-L
Jerryy reacted to Terry_Rist for a topic
Seeing as the Scar has a standard V2 gearbox, I would go for the Perun Hybrid V2 rather than the AB++ this will give you a lot more features and reliability especially if you are running 12:1 gears (personally I would just stick to 13:1 and you can definitely find them cheaper than that anyway -check AK2M4.co.uk he is cheaper for the ZCI barrel you have listed as well). Your motor is a similar story, I would go with an ZCI, SHS or XT brand one for about £30, the one you have isn't that special and is overpriced IMO. If you want better performance and don't mind spending a bit more, go with a warhead brushless. Everything else looks fine, not a massive fan of SHS ali nozzles as I had my M14 one snap instantly when dry firing the gearbox without even having a hop unit on (looking at it afterwards it was so thin I can't believe how poor the design was and I had to switch back to stock). I have several double bell P90s and honestly couldn't be more impressed with their stock internals, the stock pistons are some of the best pistons out there and their gears and shimming all seem fine from the factory. It is amazing how good they can be out of the box with only un upgraded hop rubber and a brushless motor without even touching the gearbox. I have been eyeing up the Scar for a while but haven't managed to justify pulling the trigger just yet. just realised after writing that that you have a replacement piston in your list. If it has the black piston with full metal rack and the red aluminium piston head already in your Scar I would just use that. I would buy up these pistons if I could find a place to as I love them and haven't had any problems with them in anything. If you still want to change your piston then you will probably need a new piston head as the piston heads tend to be thread locked on so tightly that it is impossible to separate them from the piston themselves.1 point -
Short stroking 4 teeth on 200mm barrel
Rogerborg reacted to Terry_Rist for a topic
The general consensus is that for shorter barrels you need less volume so I don't understand why you think it would be worse on a shorter barrel when you are happy with the same set up on longer barrels?1 point -

Well, damnit. This popped up in the Action Hobbies boneyard, so I bought it https://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/products/gg-g36c-airsoft-rifle-used/ £100 for a G&G It is ex two tone but seems to have been done quite well, and is allegedly shooting very nicely, so sod it, why not. I told myself it'll be a good gun for when my daughter comes to Special Ops with me (studiously ignores the big pile of other guns in the corner)1 point -
JG G3 with 3D Printed Wood Furniture
DJsnipe reacted to CzechMeOut for a topic
Purchased as a project for £50. I've 3D printed some wood furniture for it and I'm mostly happy with how it turned out. Printed in walnut 30% wood PLA, 1 coat of walnut wood dye and 1 coat of teak wood varnish. Internal upgrades: - Perun V2 - Maple Leaf 70 degree rubber - Tomtac 6.02 barrel. (Brilliant barrels for the cost. Apparently they might be rebranded ZCI?) - ZCI closed cylinder - XT cylidner and piston head - M130 spring FPS is a solid 430fps with semi locked via the Perun. The plastic receiver sucks but I'm on the hunt for a G&G magnesium reciever to replace it with.1 point -

The higher temp of the gas at source makes it higher pressure than the cold gas in the tank of the mag. That means it wants to pressurise the mag harder than if both are ambient or similar temp. I Do recall seeing this mentioned on a video before, it was either Bada Bing or Airsoftology IIRC.1 point

WE gbbRifles
MandalShArK reacted to SBoardley for a topic
@JimFromHorsham you sir have an amazing collection and also a great eye for detail. Looking forward to hearing more on the project. I have posted pics on here in the past, so one final time…. the short “A2” has stock hop chamber with silicone maple leaf 60* autobot rubber which hops beautifully. Stock inner cqb length barrel and an angry gun MPA nozzle set to 300 fps on .25g using Nuprol 3.0 red. Suits cqb great. long “A1” stock chamber again with silicone maple leaf 60* autobot rubber in a RA tech 370mm 6.01 inner barrel. Power is controlled using a white fh airsoft LFS restrictor disc, at around 300 fps on .25g? Again using Nuprol 3.0 red gas. I have replaced a trigger box a few years ago, in another defunct M4 and replaced a broken valve locker, but I find as I use semi only, these can go on for a good long while with minimal maintenance. When I’ve got time I’ll try put a small list of rs parts I’ve used at various times ( Which can make the WE experience that little bit more special ) so newcomers can dip straight in!1 point -
WE gbbRifles
MandalShArK reacted to JimFromHorsham for a topic
nice thread 👍 I’ve been playing around with Airsoft guns for a while , and WE GBBR for quite a while now too , if I’m right and recall correctly since around 2010 . For a skirmish rifle back then the Ratech NPAS was mandatory , middle summer could see a GBBR hitting 450-500fps quite easily and they don’t last long at that on stock internals . When I played it was almost always on single shot (I also had PTW’s , all modded to semi & 3rd burst ) so living the semi auto life was an easy one and an easy transition . So a simple power reduction was all I ever did unless something failed which in all honesty wasn’t very often at all , I don’t ever recall a “catastrophic failure” or enough of one to put the gun out of play . WE GBBR get a bad rep but like most things I’d say it’s mostly user error (like mag dumping on full auto in February) and regurgitated nonsense from people who’ve never even owned one . Don’t get me wrong , gas rifles are not for everyone , you’ll be outgunned at most of your average walk-on days but used sensibly they are a lot of fun and easy to work on . Circa 2012 , a WE 416 GBBR in the wild 😛 Roll forward a few years and I’m still tinkering about but not playing anymore , but I still give the guns a good work out . Quality imo has come on nicely with the WE rifles , my only gripe is that the trademarked versions are a bit more difficult to source , im still a kit slag but I can live without that detail (just about ) . all my rifles now just get a basic inner barrel and hop rubber upgrade from maple leaf , crazy jet and 60dgr rubbers seem to give me a decent accuracy , minimal stoppages or jams and hop .30 nicely across the garden, if skirmishing presents itself again then I’ll probably go the NPAS route yet again. externally , whatever I can get my hands on .I’ve found Rails from HAO offer great value and quality , upgraded buffer tubes over the stock ones , RS pistol grips / stocks all give the rifle a much higher quality feel at not a lot of money these days . Here’s a few of my builds , I’ll chip in some more later but if anyone wants to know parts / where from etc I’ll do my best to reply & help.1 point -
