    Greetings

Greetings to all and sundry. Complete noob to all of this but after a couple of rounds of CQB I believe that I may have found a new hobby. In a former life I got to play with real life bang sticks and had lots of practice at standing still in sideways rain. So, after ignoring the stigma attached to airsoft I took the plunge and went along with a bunch of work colleagues and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I shall be doing lots of reading before taking the next plunge and purchasing my own set up. M.

  2. I met a magical fairy yesterday who said she would grant me one wish. "I wish to live forever," I said. "Sorry," said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant that particular wish." "Fine," I said, "then I want to die the day after the house of commons is filled with honest, hard-working, bipartisan men and women who act only in the people's best interests. "You crafty fucker!" Replied the Fairy.

  3. Definatley …… and you never know even with failed crowd funding, (except for the ‘pay me to develop my idea’ as opposed to ‘pay up front to get production going’) the videos show that at least prototypes were made and they could ultimately find their way out to the world and eventually sold on For a not actually bouncing ‘bouncing Betty’ there is/was the RAP4 series, and a couple of other brands. These did make production, still not a lot as a niche product and over a decade ago, but they could be about. Spares could be harder to find, but the one with just a round seal is probably findable as a rubber grommet I can’t find footage of the ones we used here: A real benefit for use is they can be buried rather than just flicking leaves around, however for that event we used our ones plus a stack on loan from RAP4. All good, except when it came to digging them all up. We were short, and it was loan ones that were missing (potentialy sticky fingers as ours had markings and the loan ones were clean and fresh anonymous from the box) or sunk into the mud We had a few follow up sessions with metal detectors, and also over a few months the site were finding them. I think we ended up with all of them or a couple missing All original placements were photographed and Geotagged, but we made the mistake of sending other people to reset and didn’t entirely remember where they were placed —- it’s buried on the path near a bush across from a tree It was a 12gram powered one that we used, pop in a 12 gram, some powder and a leprechauns condom. Step on it and a pin punctured the 12 gram, the tiny rubber condom built up some pressure before bursting a spout of powder The videos I can find seem to be using refillable cartridge valves like 40mm shells Traditional ‘plate’ styled mines: These are similar to the ones we used, but actually has a better safety. A pin locks the pressure piece so it can’t be triggered when setting up (I mentioned the potential lack of safe disabling on the bouncing Betty, but our original RAP4s could be unscrewed and rendered safe even without a safety pin) But a safety pin when setting up would be useful - on our first use one of the guys asked ‘how many turns should I do?’ Just as he made a twist and blew powder into my chest …. ‘One leds turn than that’

  4. What @ak2m4 said. I work in shipping and can confirm that import rates from China have returned to their normal levels after going as high as 10x more.

  5. I don't think that's quite right, before covid a pallet from China cost around £450, then went to around £600 and now back down to around the same as before. Are you sure it was for a pallet and not a 20ft container? Every day I get messages from Chinese freight agents all fighting each other for business and dropping their prices on a weekly basis. There's a clear difference though between the pricing of sea freight and domestic (Royal Mail) shipping. In fact in the past 6 months RM have reduced the price of small parcels. Currently £3.95 for Tracked 24 (1st class) for 2kg parcel, fully tracked, email and text message with photo.

  6. It was a crowd finding product a few years ago, and with being a niche complex product that seems to only be on the internet in promo videos it probably didn’t get very far. Bad signs are complexity, it can’t be fully buried, it looked like it could not be disarmed (triggered by radar or activated by remote) unless it’s a bad translation the ‘disarm’ mode is to fire it off Ideally that’s poor translation, it’s fair enough that the gas is charged and would need to be released but you don’t want the only way to deal with projectiles to be firing them. I would want to be able to disable the radar and to be able to pop in a safety pin or remove the top.

Yeah there should be some resistance to stop BB rolling down. How much depends on how the hop is adjusted.

This and this again. Airsofters love chatting about guns, gear etc and their choices. Be warned though, getting them to shut up can be a challenge.

  13. With tuddenham, I'd recommend taking a small respawn bag with you and either leaving it near the road or at your respawn. You either gather near the road between games or the road is part of your way back. Leaving it at your respawn can be quite a walk there and back which is annoying after a full session of games. In it should be enough to see you through the morning/afternoon, so extra bbs, a snack, water, any extra pyro, a spare battery, spare eye pro etc.

    Greetings

Ahoy and welcome. Mmm, airsoft can look like it's over-burdened with overweight, overgrown kids, but... no, wait, I'll think myself out of this hole somehow. 🤔 Don't take it too seriously and it can be great fun, and I include gear and toy gun choices in that. At the end of the day, everything is a 6mm BB blowgun and you can be competitive with even the cheapest CYMAs until you're sure that you're going to stick with it.

  15. See, for me it's the other way around. I would never touch an SR-25 with a v2 gearbox because I want that long cylinder from the v2.5 for the setup I want to do with it (being either a 1.1J or DMR power).

  16. Battlestations is excellent and the site is at its new location and constantly evolving. Had nothing but great experience there and me and the team are now all members. move not played combat yet but I visited to get my air tank topped up and it looks the muts nuts. Well worth a visit. Tuddenham is very good too but be prepared when you play there by taking ammo and kit into the game field that you will use throughout the morning or afternoon as you don’t return to the safe zone until midday or end of day. That said it’s a wicked site to play also

    Total Noob

From my experience spend on good eye pro and boots/footwear first and also face pro unless you feel you need some scars on the face or missing teeth 🤣. Safety first. Keep safe get to play again. After this give yourself a few games. I personally found that as my confidence grew my style of play changed. Or more better put once your not to worried about getting hit you will find your footing. Then only take what you wanna spend hahah the world becomes your oyster. Enjoy it!!!

  21. MOSFETs are good because you can abuse your shiny new gnu with an 11.1v LIPO and not get called "Sparky" I have a 906C, and I have to say I don't use the fancy options - burst fire, binary etc but they're nice to have. I do run an 11.1v Li-Ion battery, and appreciate the fact the gun will auto-shutdown once the battery voltage gets low. (You still need to disconnect the battery after each game day though) I'm a bit of a Double Eagle cheer leader, I guess... I love mine. You may need to change the spring quite quickly, they seem to be rather crap and lose oomph, but that's super-easy (undo one screw) and cheap (a tenner) to do. Other than that the gnu gets a big thumbs-up from me

Hello & welcome. Glad you enjoyed yourself, sounds like you’ve been a few times already. Good plan to know more about what you’re getting yourself in to, it all seems simple till you start peeling back the layers and before you know it you’re looking at cylinder/barrel ratios and working out what kind of ported cylinder you need. Anyway, there’s lots of stuff here to read up on and plenty more knowledgeable than me to answer any of your questions. Enjoy.

  25. Good point and one I'm not averse to - although I am rather more old school and take people at their word. So if something is advertised at price x, that's the price, no nudge nudge wink wink ere ahhs abaaht a deal then me old mucka. Can't be arsed. If it's advertised on your site at x that's what I pay, or decide to go elsewhere if x is too dear. As for InstaSpam and ShitTok, pah, a pox on their houses.

  26. I agree that this is an issue, particularly with many Gen.Z'ers. It always puzzles me when people will start threads on this forum, along the lines of "Does anyone know how long it usually takes >insert retailer here< to send items?" However I don't think that applies in this case. If I've already gone out of my way to be loyal to them (ie going to their website first), why should I go to the further inconvenience of calling and "negotiating" the postage cost. Especially when the times I actually get a moment to shop for this kind of stuff are usually during my lunch break at work, or in the evening when they're closed.

    Willpower, am I weak ?

To be honest, possibly not, after all, generally no one gets pissed off when they see reenactors dressed up in VERY precise & specific regiment kit (those weirdos are proper stitch counters 🥱) as many consider it to be akin to a compliment , I'd definitely feel the need to talk to him, if nothing else but to see if we're brothers from another mother lol. I should point out also that while I'm "entitled" to wear my own regimental insignia, I've never bothered or even considered it, & this brings me to another point regarding what I think is a recent thread I glimpsed somewhere ? The thread title was something like "Airsoft, sport or cosplay ?) I didn't actually read the thread, hence why I'm vague about where or when I saw it, but the title, like many, is kinda clickbait but at the same time self explanatory. My assessment, walts are nothing more than cosplayers with small dicks, whereas I do view my playing of Airsoft as a sport, I've previously played sports semi-professionally, which roughly translates to high level but not much money in it (at the time ?), but it's safe to say I'm pretty competitive, so the game of beating your opponent by hitting him with a BB before he can do the same to you definitely ticks my boxes, plus the military theme is definitely reminiscent of an important part of my earlier life that I enjoyed immensely, so it's a win-win for me😁. Anyway its getting late, I'm flagging & pretty sure im not supposed to derail my own thread, that's you feckers jobs😜

    Willpower, am I weak ?

It's not the equipment thats the issue, but cap badges & berets have to be "earned", & some are considerably harder to earn than others. Plus for many of those who have served there is usually an associated pride in your mother regiment, in its history & achievements, as well as the fact that comrades you have served with may have passed, either in the service of their country, or as we're becoming more aware of nowadays, succumbing to their demons due to the things they have witnessed or done in the name of service☹️. While I can't lay claim to heroic actions whilst serving, but many of my comrades did. & then years later, not long after I started airsofting, I witnessed an absolute shitshow of a team, nothing I could say positively about their on site behaviour. Nothing new there you might say, but every one of those twats was wearing (badly) my regimental cap badge & beret, for no other reason than that one of their members had allegedly served in a ta unit & still had backdoor access to some kit cheap😬. I was far from impressed & had to have a word, quite a few actually, some of them you wouldn't repeat to the vicar lol. 🤬 Sorry guys, didn't mean for this to get dark, but it's a genuine consideration that will trigger some players.

  37. Hey, I'm just starting but Battle Stations at Snetterton seemed pretty good and was really busy last Saturday, all the regulars said they love it. It's a CQB site, my own rental wasn't exactly awesome but some of that might be operator error I spoke with a few people and they had good things to say about Combat Airsoft near Thetford which I'm going to try out on Sunday (i'll post to say how it goes) and one guy said they really liked the woodland site at Swaffham but I don't know much at all about it beyond that. Pretty sure there are events at Tuddenham (near Mildenhall) too but i got nothing there beyond they exist!

  42. The real problem with our sport and shipping, in regards to China, is that the majority of Airsoft products can only be shipped out of HK. Some products can be flown out via FedEx or UPS but anything remotely gun shaped or gun related must be shipped via a boat. The smallest size you can get from HK port is a pallet (1cbm). So if you just wanted a few boxes of parts you have to pay for a full pallet. In general it's an absolute nightmare.
