  2. Hey all, been a while since I’ve frequented this forum. Glad to see not much has changed! Havent managed to play in over 18months now, so I am thinning the collection. I have listed the RIFs I need to sell, will get the gear up over the next few weeks. Would appreciate any feedback if I have made a mistake or over estimated value on any of my listings! Hope you all had a Great Christmas, and wish you all a Happy new year!

  5. once you get some experience under your belt it's not a risk, quite the opposite it gives you the power as you say to skip paying techs to do the work for you and means you can do things like buy secondhand with a lot more confidence knowing you have the capacity to deal with any hidden demons that the current owner might not even know are there. which is why i strongly advocate people learn their own tech work. what i'm referring to when i talk about risk is the learning curve, research only takes you so far and starting off without experience means you're gonna almost certainly make mistakes, and lots of them, hell i still make mistakes to this day. and jumping into trying your own tech work with no backup gun means any mistakes that show up on gameday (conveniently never at chrono and always when there's a target to be shooting at, it's just one of those universal laws) mean you're gonna have to pack up, go home and try to figure out what went wrong. which speaking from experience starts getting real tiresome the tenth time it's happened. best way to mitigate that risk is to have a backup of some sort, doesn't have to be a gun you own, could be a mate who has a spare you can borrow, or taking extra cash to rent a site gun etc. hell just a few months ago (during the glorious two weeks shooting we actually had this year) i had my primary go down because of a motor brush issue (brand new motor from a reputable company) and ended up having to run around all day with a mosin nagant i borrowed off a mate that had no front post. which was much more fun than trudging off home to try and sort things out. if practical range (ie shooting further than the other guy) is your goal then i'd have a look at these 2 threads: first one is basically a massive nerdfest that boils down to heavy bb's are better if you can hop them, second is some more generic info on gearbox work, for range/accuracy it's particularly worth looking at the stuff about airseal because there's no such thing as excessively good air seal. ^this, absolutely this, it's one of those tools that's so useful you forget other people might not have one.

  6. Wouldn't go with a flat hop (or R-Hop) either, since both will turn out much more expensive than a Maple Leaf rubber and tensioner for very similar results. A chrono is mandatory when working on guns, you don't want to take the walk of shame because you turned up with a crisp sounding and beautifully working gun that fires way too hot

  7. Yes get a chrono. Invaluable to check what improvements to power output have been made and to check rof. Regards

  8. In a technical sense yes the green is better, and i do preferr it for the super heavies, but it should also wear out faster (although hop rubbers are a wear component) Either colour should be just fine for launching .32's. The higher ratings are likely for hotter countries with higher limits, eg americans pushing all the joules in the desert

  10. ML velocity ratings are useless. Plenty of people who buy 75/80° rubbers for their snipers because of these charts and end up replacing them with 50s and 60s. The softer the rubber, the less pressure required to achieve X amounts of backspin. Obviously it'll wear out faster, but we're talking hundreds of thousands of rounds (fuck me my old flat hopped prommy purple is 5 years old, has had tons of bbs and is still in great shape with barely any visible damage). With that being said, I run a mix of Maple Leaf 50s and 60s because 1J limit and it can get pretty cold on our field (usually in winter we hover around 0° c). Patch design is up to you, so far I've only tried MR-Hops but I also have a couple macarons and super macarons to try

  11. Let's face it, at the end of the day there are bigger things to worry about then extra VAT or customs duty on airsoft supplies! Whilst everyone has mentioned some valid points it's all comes down to what was agreed during the trade deal and how individual countries or even vendors will interpret it all... these things will take some time to make sense of... As @Shamalhas said life will still go on.... we will buy more British milk, British meat and British veg.... oh and let's hope our fish get's cheaper now! In theory domestic airsoft products should not increase in value, if that is the UK suppliers buy from the Far East.... of course if European 'middle men' are used then that may well be a different ball game entirely....

  12. The barrel length alone isnt going to be an issue. For the .32 range either of my 2 standard reccommendations work (pdi w-hop 50deg or ml macaron tan+omega nub) The maple leaf would also be able to go heavier (ive used them for up to .48's at 1j) Slidey hop setting you can solve with a wee oring or such to give it a bit of friction.

Yep. Love chucking a single action around even on a skirmish day. I had an ASG Schofield I used to use a lot on a range at home and in cqb it was really effective. It can be really difficult at times but that's the fun. Anyway I've changed its colour now.

  14. Remington 1875 Frontier Army Remingtons failed (but by many accounts better) attempt to cash in on the colt single action army. Started life as a 177 airgun. A few bits machined and it's now an airsoft gun with a fixed hop. I *think* it's the only airsoft one so far. Ideally I'd like to change the colour and hydrodip the grips wood or paint them more like bone. But this is now my primary airsoft "weapon".

  15. It's currently .177 but won't be when I get round to it. I bin the barrels out of any wingun type revolver anyway as they are invariably shite, and dan wesson shells will fit with very slight modding.
