Gunman Airsoft Norwich - Milsim
Jedi_Master and one other reacted to Baz JJ for a topic
Went to play at a one day milsim at this site yesterday. Gunman Airsoft operate four sites (Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk) and their Norwich (Norfolk) site has just re-opened after some forest management work. Its located at Stratton Strawless which is very close to Norwich Airport (plenty of overflying helos provided free of charge). Its a 60 acre woodland site criss-crossed with tracks, which unfortunately were a bit boggy even though we havent had much rain. Gunman operate intermediate and light milsim games while their Filmsim arm operates the longer theme based ones. This game was of the intermediate variety so although armbands werent used, they werent so strict on loadouts and you could use highcaps. There were no breaks between STARTEX and ENDEX, medic rules were in use with bandages and there were ammo restrictions. The facilities at Norwich are basic; they have tea/coffee, genny power and a portaloo. Parking is good with a private off road car park behind gates. Yesterdays game was about a government force and a rebel force in a former soviet state. It involved rebels trying to find some very old stored Weapons of Mass Destruction to discredit the government and the government trying to prevent the embarassment and bad publicity. The game flowed well and Gunman had journalists and weapons scientists popping in and out of the game and the teams had to escort and protect them as well as managing developing situations and intel. Radios were used quite heavily in the game and it was quickly discovered that those with PMR446 radios struggled with range. The site is boxed by minor roads so the rebel team were inserted by vehicle at the start of the game. There are features on the site like a fuel dump, a rather interesting woodman's toilet and a satellite installation. The use of maps and grid references tested some of the players who were new to milsim, but it wasnt a problem as these games are intended more as an introduction to those who either dont want to go "full-on" in the milsim world or who are learning the ropes in order to attend some of the more demanding milsim games. The props provided by Gunman were good. The WMD were very convincing and tents and bashas were erected for the game to provide camps and cover in the event of inclement weather. The Weather was about 18 degrees C and dry so not needed in the end, but they made a good location for scoff and reloads. Gameplay was good, hit taking excellent. At one point the journalist had been inserted to take photos of the WMD to allow him to spread the news on world media. Job done, he and his rebel protectors were bounced by government troops and a firefight ensued. Frightened and with his escort dead or wounded, he ran for it, escaping his pursuers. 2m from the border, a government guard stepped out of the bushes and forced him to delete his camera memory - BUSTED.. Walk on price was £30 Advance price (secured by a £15 deposit) is £25. They are also holding Gunman skirmishes on this site and the next milsim game is in a months time.2 points -

Hello all, I've been playing on and off for around 2 years, so technically not a noobie, however now working full time (weekdays) and not working weekends, I have found a lot more time to play during the weekends. I currently live near Milton Keynes and have travelled around to a few places X-site, Finmere and am looking for other players in and around the area to play with. I could also use some advice, Currently running a DMR load out after getting very bored with the general AEG load out and wanted something a little more specialised. Current load out: Primary: A&K SR25 (Stock) Secondary: KWA KP45 (looking to sell and get something smaller, i.e glock variant. Other: Dump pouch for spare mags / smokes ect. I am looking to upgrade the SR25, by dropping the FPS to around 350-400, new hop up, tight bore barrel (unsure what length I need) and new internals (Cylinder, piston head and piston). Any recommendations would be awesome. TLDR; Live near milton keynes, looking for some local players & upgrade advice Cheers!1 point

Didn't know they applied the pressurised gas bit to GBB stuff instead of just the magazines. That's bonkers.1 point

Unfortunately as far as GBBs are concerned basically you're running a gauntlet. I don't know of any parcel company that will accept them. AEG's are fairly straightforward as Parcelforce will take them (BUT NOT batteries unless new unopened in original packaging), basically gas guns fall foul by virtue of being prohibited for sending as they are CAPABLE of containing pressurised gas (ie magazines or internal gas cylinders, whether or not they have gas in) and there have been a couple of cases of them being seized/destroyed without compensation, even with the gas filler valves removed (on Zeroin forum iirc). HOWEVER people still send them day in day out and the vast majority evidently get through ok (though I would think twice if its likely to involve border checks or airmail). If you have to post it I would suggest honesty is the best policy, make sure the mags are empty of gas tell the Post Office its airsoft sporting goods and contains no batteries or gas and even mark the package with words to that effect, as well as the addressees UKARA number if applicable, but bare in mind as said TECHNICALLY its breaching their conditions of postage and if you were unlucky enough for it to be checked you may find it gets seized. Best of luck!1 point

used to wear lower face mesh, works well and probably wont steam up. As for gum shields. I've seen people having their lower teeth shot out, as most only wear upper ones, this would not protect them. Also they are meant to take a blow from a fist to the face, not a 6mm at ~1j. Also my close friend always plays with mask, except ONCE when his girlfriend joined in and he lent it to her and played only with goggles. After a long process, lots of pain and money, he now has a fake tooth. He also have quit airsoft as he feels really uncomfortable with it even when masked. Is it really worth the risk? :/ rofl1 point

Teeth protection....
Zak Da Mack reacted to Aunty Pasty for a topic
I bought a lower mesh mask after somebody decided to full auto into my face from what seemed like a relatively close range. Aside from the teeth, it can leave marks on the skin and lips which could take awhile to heal up. As said above, they probably need altering/bending to fit your face better. They also vary in shape a bit as well so if you have a big nose, look out for ones with more nose room etc. The trouble with masks is that it's a bit harder to aim if you're trying to rest your cheek on the stock.1 point -

With regards to goggles though and specifically the Boogie Regulators - you have to take into account what they're designed for. Boogie regulators were originally designed as jump goggles for paratroops. They're only intended to work when you're moving fast enough to be forced air ventilated (so on a motorbike, falling out of the sky that kind of thing). Plenty of people seem to have been sucked into getting regulators because they are L33T Tacticool opr8tr goggles without realising that they will fog straight up the second you stand still.1 point -

I think this is the first time I've been back on the forums in literally months. =[ I've more or less dropped the hobby whilst I sort my finances out, sort a car out, and sort out a house. It's a 3 year plan but hopefully it won't take that long. Despite not playing for months, I am still buying stuff though, because y'know, nothing slows down your life plan like spending the money you're meant to be saving on new shiny gun stuff... Most recent purchase is an Elcan Spectre DR and a 20mm conversion mount for my L85. I must admit, I always thought I preferred the ACOG on L85s because it takes a funky canilever mount to get it on there, but the Spectre is definitely growing on me. Mainly because, in the airsoft world at least, they're just infinitely better optics. This thing trumps my ACOG on literally every front apart from maybe size (because it's massive) and weight (because it might as well be a brick). Better glass quality making the clarity much more crisp, no more foggy view as per my ACOG. The reticle is beautifully clear, not lop sided, and doesn't blur against the target. It's also illumated with 12 levels of brightness across two colours, and the eye relief is fantastic - no more ramming my eyeball into the rear lens to see anything. It also has the bonus feature, well sort of, that if you configure the red dot on top to zero to the main optic, then every time you rezero the main optic, you simultaneously zero the red dot as well. Due to it being slaved to it; when you adjust the main sight, it's the sight that moves on its mount, rather than the internals of the sight moving within the body, and since the red dot just sits on top, if you move the main optic, you're also moving the red dot, so they stay zeroed to the same point. Win win. Though I have yet to field it, so that may mean knocking it causes it to lose zero... In which case I'll be very annoyed and counting that as more of a fail than a win, but for now it seems a handy feature. Certainly makes it easier to switch between multiple rifles as the time spent reconfiguring will be halved. But anyway, pictures:1 point -
