BRITISH AIRSOFT CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT.....
Monty and 4 others reacted to fivezerothree for a topic
Con, I'm not entirely sure why you are a 'rep' for the BAC as you are so out of tune with what they have actually done and are currently doing. I highly doubt they are putting money in your pocket but they are 100% feeding you (and perhaps even themselves) absolute bullshit and you're lapping it up. Quite frankly mate, this is going to rub off on you – in fact it already has. The BAC is the brainchild of two desperate people that have zero prior experience in anything related, They've been winging it from day dot and have been lucky up until now. Save yourself looking like a complete moron. Quit.5 points -
Theres one not far from me that keep themselves pretty low key on the net and is largely word of mouth. They have a selection board and promotions. You work your way up the ranks - it struck me as a bit creepy so I gave it a wide berth.4 points

Pistol holsters
Monty and 2 others reacted to Black Death for a topic
I prefer drop leg jobbies myself as I don't like anything on my chest other then a tshirt. I also don't like pistols on belts as the slightly higher position is awkward for me due to my build. I've never ever had a problem with flapping about but I do always make sure the holster is very tight both on my leg and clipped into my belt with no slack also. I use either twin TM desert eagles or a marushin ragin bull revolver (6.5" barrel) all of which are super heavy and as previously stated with zero flap! I only have a viper holster for the d'eagles and an unknown brand for my raging bull so hardly Gucci at all but still work absolutely fine. Pretty much if anything isn't strapped tight to you it's going to make noise wether it be radio pouches, holsters, drop leg molle platforms, etc. You know when it's strapped tight enough because when you move you can't feel that it's on. If it's cuts off blood supply then obviously it's too tight lol. On a slightly funny note, I even go as far to wear cycling shorts under my replica crye trousers as I don't want my codpiece flapping around either. That can get quite uncomfortable if not kept in check lol3 points -
What is a Milsim
clumpyedge and one other reacted to Black Death for a topic
I can see why peeps enjoy Milsim and why others don't. I keep saying I will play a game one day but I think if I'm honest I may just annoy my friends/team mates and not be invited again. No access to my Facebook, no bubble bath, no sex before bed, ammo limited to a handful of bbs, sporadic fighting and having to take orders.... Sounds like hell to me. I think you'd literally have to pay me to do it as it would feel like an actual shift lol That said I've got a shed load of respect for the guys that do it! Seriously you must have serious discipline and dedication. My hat goes of to you2 points -

However most AEGs won't have the range and accuracy to take full advantage of a magnified sight, so most of the time they're useless for anything but recon on the other team- and even then you can do the job better with a monocular or small pair of binos which would cost less and likely be more effective.2 points -

Simples, they have messed up, big time, they need a scape goat and as you are the public face of their (probably) soon to be demise you have that big red bull's-eye on your back. I see nothing wrong with what you did, if they had performed even one of the supposed checks they should have done to verify "Sarah Bartlett" it would have been flagged and "she" wouldn't have gotten the defence "she" was offered. Applying for a defence is not illegal, giving someone a defence that has no legal basis is very worrying indeed. You are in the right they are in the wrong, and good job you did it too! Well done! No it is not wrong for the police to pretend to be children or paedophiles in order to catch paedophiles. As has already been said it wouldn't take much for a journalist to have done the very same and put the results in the paper.2 points

I currently have 2 airsoft weapons, And both of them are assault rifles. I have: M4SS G36C Both are sadly tone but alot of it is metal with the rest being abs. I am now looking for a sniper rifle, Though we are using these for training our cover and targeting (New to airsoft) i need one that will be good to me for a long time. It must be tone because we have not completed our UKARA requirements yet. I am currently looking at this one which seems to be great value... But i would rather check with some more... informed folk first http://www.geniestuff.co.uk/airsoft-sniper-rifle-l96-mk3-mb01-two-tone-bundle.htm# Please throw me some tips or thumbs up if this one will hold up. I have many more bookmarked... But alot seem similar or worse. Thanks Prathios (Mike)1 point

What is a Milsim
Lord_Metile reacted to Baz JJ for a topic
I saw this question in another post and it made me wonder how many AFUK members aren't familiar with this type of game. Also, I find that many people have misconceptions. Wikipedia says QUOTE MilSim is an abbreviation of military simulation, and refers to military simulations conducted by civilians for entertainment purposes. MilSim most often falls into two different categories: reenactment and simulation. Reenactments focus on a particular event in history and aim to provide the most accurate representation of the time period, events, and outcomes of the historical event. Simulation, however, may only focus on a particular time period and representation of which course a particular situation may have taken in history. In most cases a simulation event includes fictitious characters, groups, and political situations. UNQUOTE Of course, there is also Filmsim and people often mix the two terms. Its very hard to find a binding definition anywhere. In my experience, there are a lot of shades of grey with milsimming. Extremes are those companies which treat players as real soldiers - exact loadouts are required for the era, players have to sleep rough for 36 hours (or not at all); some even have ranks, basic training and use saluting. At the other end of the spectrum is something one level away from a skirmish - a day theme where there is some ongoing connection between the games even though they have breaks between games and still use a safe zone. I guess the message is that there is no one such thing as a milsim - instead, lots of different flavours. If it interests you as an alternative to skirmishing, my advice would be to read the small print and understand what flavour you're buying !1 point -

Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Yuriski for a topic
Hi everyone, So, I'm Yuriski. I'm pretty new to airsoft (got my AEG last Christmas) and have been looking for a good place to get some beginner tips and advice, as well as meet a few people. Currently, all I have is my MP5, and a few dodgy spring pistols (waste of money, I know): I'm also planning on getting a decent German uniform with flecktarn camouflage as my first loadout, so if any of you know where to get a hold of some odds and ends, I'd really appreciate it (affordable goggles that fit over glasses would also be a big help!). Look forward to discussing things with you all. - Yuriski. Quick Edit: The actual flecktarn site seems to have pretty reasonable costs, so I'm all checked out uniform and tac-vest wise. Anyone with knowledge of a nice pair of goggles would be appreciated though!1 point -
Thanks for all your responses - I think I'll probably just apply and remove the tape at the site. Since I'm new to skirmishing and airsoft in general, I'll be posting some more questions over the following months.1 point

What is a Milsim
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Baz JJ for a topic
Personally I agree and its not my thing, but there are lots of hardened simmers who do just that and go back for more. I think the attraction of some flavour of milsim is the camaraderie of working in a team against a common enemy, using either real steel or restricted ammo limits and having to think your way out of problems using strategy and tactics - not just blatting away. Little generic things like using loadouts to identify each other rather than armbands, greater use of radios and playing with cool toys like big pyros, mortars and props make milsims a little more interesting IMHO. In terms of length, some claiming to be milsim are less than an hour before they have a break. Some are 8 hours, some go overnight and some are 24/36 hours.1 point -

Thanks all ^ I didn't want the leg holster tbf so I'm glad you've advised against them. They're just a lot cheaper. I've had a look at the links you sent Mr B, call me stupid but when I'm selecting my options, there isn't an option to add the holster itself, just the paddle belt clip or molle etc... Should I assume the holster is included regardless of option. It's just seems very cheap for the whole lot1 point -

Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Lozart for a topic
Always worth buying a lanyard in my opinion, you can still drop your pistol even if it's in your hand! A lot of cheap copies about of the Blackhawk and Safariland stuff as the real stuff can be quite pricey. Fobus are worth a look too as the real deal kit isn't particularly pricey. Also IMI Roto Holsters. You will find though that weapon choice may restrict you in the range of holsters you can use. For example there's plenty of M92 holsters about but not many for the M9A1 with a rail. God forbid you want a holster for an M9 WITH a torch on! Glock and Sig seem to be the de rigeur choice these days and every man and his dog does a hundred different holsters for them!1 point -

Used to run a drop leg but found it restrictive and the cloth ones swing about like wrecking balls. Have since gone with belt mounted holsters (IMI PX4). Brands to look out for (Real steel) Blackhawk Serpa Safariland IMI1 point -
I have and always will stand by my somewhat outdated view that there is only one reasonable sniper-system in airsoft. The TM VSR series. That being said, I also refuse to believe that GBBR weapons actually exist, they're just a myth created by the illuminati to keep us blue collar 'aeg-guys' down. >.> <.<1 point

Prathios reacted to Airsoft_Mr B for a topic
It's a good rifle, I'm looking at buying one myself. I think it will be alright until you can upgrade, but since I don't have one myself I wouldn't take my word for it. You could probably find it a bit cheaper somewhere else. I'm looking at mine from Poland for £100 (I doubt they will do two-tone though) If you're looking to upgrade it, i would recommend ASPUK. AFAIK a lot of snipers like to go for expensive Prometheus / PDI / Laylax parts etc but some brands can be ridiculously expensive.1 point -

BRITISH AIRSOFT CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT.....
Qlimax reacted to BrightCandle for a topic
If BAC doesn't fix it soon it has a real chance of hurting the sport. Sad reality is that if they continue on as they were and people continue to ignore the glaring problem and accept BAC's lies then they are put in a position to do very real harm to the community by handing out passes to people who aren't really airsofters. All it takes is one of those guys to use a RIF in the crime and a front page news story in the Daily Mail and the whole thing can come crumbling down around us. I stand against all those trying to work around the law, whether it be consumers or retailers or sites, if we aren't taking proper care to ensure the law is complied with then its a real danger to the sport. Its not so bad if a real airsofter gets caught with a RIF on a crime, at least then the law was complied with, but if a BAC member who hasn't been checked properly (which we have to assume is all of them at this point) then it just looks like a scam scheme setup to bring problems to the sport. That is a good way to ensure no independent body can ever be a place to register airsoft players and I for one want to see the UKARA cartel fall but BAC's current behaviour tells me they aren't the people to do it. Pitchfork time, it needs tearing down so we can build the right thing out of the ashes.1 point -

I'm still lost why you can just admit you cocked up say sorry and get on with it instead of just constantly making yourselves look stupid. And if all this has been sorted then I've had NO contact to be asked to retract anything and NONE of what I have posted has been fabricated AT ALL what purpose would I have in doing that why would I make lies up about something for nothing I WOULDN'T the email posted clearly shows all it needs to prove what it is.1 point

Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Caliber for a topic
I was waiting for Node to do that for a while, I could see it happening when they started getting into TTT again. I'd like to see an infection gamemode similar to the Halo games. Bunch of survivors with only a couple of alpha zombies on the other team with infinite respawns and melee weapons only (Give them rubber training swords or something), then they run around and try to infect the survivors. When the survivors are hit by a zombie, they go to respawn, swap out their gun for a melee weapon, then they are also a zombie. It'd be brilliant.1 point -

for 3 magazines and a BFG a mini MAV is absolutely perfect, spare BBs and speed loader can be kept in a trouser pocket. Pistol on your right hip (assuming you're right handed), pistol mags on the other hip, or even on the MAV, you'll have plenty of room. For water carriage you can either have a bottle in a trouser pocket or get a camel bak. Personally I'd say plate carrier = CQB and chest rig = woodland. You'll appreciate the extra protection a PC provides in CQB as you'll be getting shot from up close a lot more, not only that, unless you really splash out and get a super lightweight carrier they're actually quite heavy and you'll feel the weight slogging it round the woods all day. If I know I'm gonna be out for a full day in the woods I'll wear an LBT1961G with a little backpack... more carrying space than I could ever use but it's light and offers plenty of ventilation so I don't overheat. For FIBUA or CQB I'll rock out a plate carrier as I know I'm probably not going to be hiking long distances or having to get down on my front very often.1 point -

Something like this has best of both worlds. http://www.taiwangun.com/en/commando-recon-chest-harness-type-vest-black-8fields?from=listing&campaign-id=19 Keep the panel if you want a bit more protection or get shut if you just want to run it as a chest rig. For the price you could get a couple- one in black for CQB ninja fun and one in OD (when they're back in stock) as it's versatile enough of a colour to go with a few camo types.1 point -
Plate Carrier vs Chest Rig
Mr Monkey Nuts reacted to Lozart for a topic
I have a WAS 901 chest rig with the back panel. Best of both worlds that way, you have the smaller, lighter chest rig with the added protection and MOLLE real estate of the back panel. I got mine as a set on ebay for £70ish if I remember correctly. Choose your pouches wisely and you'll be fine. I run two double M4 pouches (I can carry up to 8 mags at a time), a double pistol mag pouch, triple 40mm grenade pouch and a torch/suppressor pouch and there's still space on the front! If you only use the lower part of the chest rig you can fold the "bib" part down and tuck it away inside. You could also look at things like the Condor Recon rig which has mag pouches permanently attached which while a little less versatile is certainly cheaper (under £40 from Military 1st). I guess it's partly down to looks, partly down to practicality. I find a plate carrier is too sweaty to wear all day - a chest rig with just the straps is certainly lighter and airier!1 point -

We did wish to price the site lower, however the costs involved to lease the site are quite significant, therefore we have had too charge what we do. Offering a safe zone with flushing toilets, elec charging points, shop and heated in the winter, along with the site being unique in the aspect of a prison and it includes free lunch and tea and coffee all day, just some of the ways we want to ensure the price is competitive.1 point

I think you'd do more damage by smashing their knee caps with it to be honest, it'll slow them down that's for sure. If you do that, leave one left alive and you'll have time to re-build your barriers and pack-a-punch with little risk.1 point
