Treat your RIF like your genitals, don't get it out in public, don't wave it about where neighbors can see and don't be a dick! The only time you should have it out is when your in the woods with strangers. ....Oh no this metaphor was a bad choice11 points -
I know that no one on here would do something so silly but this video really puts into perspective how quickly your life could end if you carry your RIF in public.5 points

I've always found trigger discipline and weapon handling stuff kind of obvious and natural to do. For example your grip on a pistol should be as high up on the frame as possible but sometimes you see people holding it like half way and it looks retarded, not to mention completely impractical and probably uncomfortable. I don't know why you would do that. Reminds me of that kid on one of scoutthedoggie's videos with an MP5 and was holding the grip with his left hand and the stock with his right or something. Like Nickona said it's just a bad attitude / not good practice to have your finger on the trigger. We could all say 'oh well we're not stupid enough to have it loaded' etc but obviously we do it for a reason anyway. Nothing bad is likely to happen but it could so you should be careful and responsible, even if it is just a replica it's still capable of firing a pellet and regardless of where it hits someone it's still not supposed to be discharged in the safe zone or whatever. He's got eye pro on and he's at home and everything so it's fine really.3 points -
Awesome reactions from the Driver, awesome training and even more awesome composure not to put a round in him! Mark Duggan didn't even have a gun in his hand an he bought it...One very lucky lad right there3 points
-
Its good practice basically.. we all know its airsoft and very little is going to happen.. but having been shot on the top of the fore head with no eye pro on in the safe zone because of some prats ill trigger discipline makes you think twice about it3 points

The son of a family friend just recently got locked up for 7 years for armed robbery. He was using an Airsoft gun. Complete bellend. His Dad is huge, I can't imagine what's going to happen to him when he's out. lol. All these idiots are potentially ruining Airsoft for us legitimate players. If they carry on then we're going to end up with either bright coloured guns or none at all.3 points

I heard somewhere that the officer had taken first pressure, which is a knats hair from going bang. If you see the video of the officers attending the Lee Rigby incident they decamp, draw and fire in about a second2 points

Its mighty impressive he didn't get shot. The speed of draw and the amazing read from the officers that he wasn't drawing to shoot is incredibly, if that had been the USA that kid would be dead with about 10 bullets in his chest. I can see why the police would kindly like the RIFs out of the country when there are idiots like this around carrying them down the highstreet.2 points -

Woah.... This thread needs a serious update Latest thing I've gotten is a genuine oakley carabiner in red to go only oshiboom. It's a lot easier to pull the pin (especially when using gloves or when in a hurry) and you are a lot less likely to lose the pin this way also. A lot more to come update wise when I get a chance2 points -

Annnnnndddddd moving on swiftly. Nothing special, but I won't be airsofting for a month of two *cri ,_,* so i thought id take some proper photos of my scar before she's put away. I usually use a pressure switch for the T6 light and use a green laser PEQ box, but I was too lazy to mount them on and wire them up. (Excuse the dodgy photo quality and the floppy magpul) Here are some close ups of the EoTech 552 I laser engraved but never got round to posting.2 points -
People who know me will likely know that I have a bit of a thing for The Embassy in Leicester. It's local, it's great to play in and the marshals are great. Unfortunately, the site is closing as the developers are now beginning building work. Last game is 24th May. Today, First and Only announced a new site in Leicester. The Towers Hospital. 1.2 Million square foot of CQB in an old hospital built in the late 1800s. It looks like it could be exactly what I was looking for and it's within walking distance of my house! https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.649345,-1.0879325,646m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en1 point

Same here. Anyway, back to the main question, D-Boys aren't the best company in the world. I would recommend: -the G&G Raider (if you want an M4 style AEG [£130 or so]) -an AK by CYMA (they are a Chinese clone of Tokyo Marui, but their AK series is considered among the best on the market [about £150] ) -a JG G36 (If you want something that isn't quite an M4, but common enough that accessories & upgrades will be cheap [about £150]) I would wait a few months before getting something obscure.1 point -

Just pick stuff up, i spend/waste a lot of time on the internet and have a large number of forums and news sites, both airsoft and real steel I check a few times a day and doing that for a few years makes bits rub off on you- just read through forums every couple of days and you'll pick up a fair bit, arnies and ukaz tend to have the best knowledge base of the UK forums. Zeroin you can look at but is filled with more idiots than sensible contributers.1 point -

I worked on one quite recently actually. Lots of techno-babble ahead so I will try keep it simple. The Stock is atrocious quality. The plastic used feels very brittle and weak, like the shitty acrylic we use at school. It does not feels very secure, the latch mechanism was made out of pot metal & plastic so it may be fragile. It did have a concerning amount of wobble. Otherwise I did not detect any other major external issues aside from the stock,it felt rather solid, however the upper receiver is made out of a nasty feeling pot metal that's fairly heavy. Internals wise- Barrel and hop up unit are fails. Stock, the hop up unit was cast improperly so the gun had piss poor performance. Hop up units are fairly cheap and can be replaced. Wiring quality on the gearbox was poor as well. Gear set is a standard set of ACM full sintered gears, they are strong enough to last long on an m120 or m130 spring, but not amazing quality gears. Fairly noisy. The bushings were complete fails that grenaded themselves after minor usage. Piston was okay, not amazing but usable. Air seal parts are poor quality but usable with some new O rings. The one saving grace was the motor, the gun came with a Chaoli 22TPA torque monster motor which worked beautifully with the SHS high speed gear set i installed. The gun overall has some potential to be upgraded and work well but overall poor quality leaves a lot to be desired. It seems nobody can crack out a decent cheap SCAR. I'd go for an ICS sportline gun. Much better internally. G&G Combat machines are fairly good too.1 point -

The problem you're going to have is that guns like the SCAR are not as popular as M4s, AKs or G36s. As a result, the good ones tend to be pricier (the G&G SCAR-L for example is about £300). While I appreciate that you maybe want a gun that's a bit different from the crowd or because you have a particular weapon you enjoy from a game, as far as your first gun goes I would strongly suggest sticking with one of the three styles I mentioned. Mostly because you'll get a better gun for the money from a more reputable brand. For the money you're talking about you could get a very decent CYMA AK or a G&G Combat Machine.1 point -

Some decent m4 "starter rifles" that are in your price range once you get UKARA sorted: http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/ics-plastic-m4a1-retractable-stock-airsoft-gun-aeg http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268_318_403_494&products_id=5645 These are generally the "go to" beginner rifles that most people on this site will recommend. Obviously a bigger budget will lead to better quality guns but you'll hold your own at skirmishes with either of these.1 point -

Drop leg dump pouches are much more secure. The Condor ones are excellent quality - I'd say your leg will give up before they do, but to get more than a couple of mags in at once you have to make them lie flat with the curved edge facing your leg (unless they're short, but even then you'd have to place them inside carefully) / the issue is speed of use / you want to be able to just drop a mag in through the slot and forget it, knowing it will still be there when you get back to the safe zone, no matter what crawling around, running, jumping, etc. you might do in between times... The Viper ones are huge and secure - you can just drop mags in and let them find their own settled position. You probably could wreck one through hard use, but not easily. I've put cuts into the top of my two so that I can fit 2 G36 mags locked together into them and that hasn't caused them to rip, so that says something... The open top type are not secure at all. Sure there's a draw string on some, but the top is still basically open and if the draw string was tight enough to make it secure, that would take time to open then close.1 point
