  1. I’ve been again trying to master the art of faux wood effects. This time on the cheap Double Eagle M58A.

  5. That's a lot more honesty than one person we spotted recently on a couple of other airsoft classifieds who had been trying to deceive potential buyers into paying a lot more than his gear was actually worth. He became rather upset when some of us asked him for more info. Maybe he can take a leaf out of your book?

  6. I like the weather like I like my women, cold and dry. Play all year round, go for the social as much as the playing aspect. Sites round here are a lot busier in the summer months though.

  8. So a quick & dirty report now my 3.5" is here, thanks to Red Wolf. The bad - no manual or hop adjustment key. No markings, unless you have them done yourself. My local guy is primed .... The good - everything else! Hop is a bit fiddly to set - clockwise for more, anti-clockwise for less. *EDIT****** Chrono'd again with my Acetech 6000 Mkiii - I thought the values were way too high. Its absolutely beautiful - from the grips (unstained in my case - which is fine, I'm looking forward to working some bees wax into her), to the spinning chamber action (no other revolver really touches this) is stunning. Trigger pull I can't give you figures on but having shot a lot of real steel (pre-ban in the UK) it feels right. Very smooth, very smooth indeed. Its loud - anecdotely similar to the wingun. The shells make a lovely sound if you slot them in one by one into the chamber. Consitency is way and above wingun - see FPS below as a result I would happily take and get a body shot at 30m, maybe 40m. I need to test her in the field really Looks like that new shell design has paid off. Shells are lovely (R-P 357 Magnum - "Remington-Peters" 357 Magnum). I haven't tried the moonclips - I'm running her with HKS 586-A speedloadeers on my belt as a secondary sidearm loadout. Love the way they resemble a copper plate bullet. The shells fit in a wingun speedloader but .... you end up with some shells in your chamber/some not. I could play around with them and work out how to get everything lined up ... but why dress lamb as mutton? Fits my 686 leather holster with thumb snap for the hammer perfectly. Hops .3s with no problem - I think you could go heavier but I don't see any advantage as 0.3 means I use the same weight in all my sidearms. For my use, I think the 3.5" is a perfect balance between portability, weight & accuracy. I'd love to see what the 5/6" versions are like (possibly with a different finish although the silver is really special) & the other grip options. The longer barreled models are going to be (legal!) hand cannons I think. Quite excited by the prospect! Very happy with her - I'd say this is by far & away the best revolver I've used in a long line from Tanaka, Marushin & Wingun. Shells are a must for me - you really cannot beat the feel & buzz of using them in combat. Hopwise this is best I've seen, closely followed by the old 8mm Marushin, Tanaka SAA adjustable then coming a fair way behind, Wingun. Further behind still, Tanaka fixed. So 6 shots, .3 ASG Blaster Devil BBs, 19°C, slow count of 5 between shots. 1: 227 2: 235 3: 229 4: 230 5: 231 6: 233 Average = 230 which is 282 FPS with 0.2 equivalent. So sight legal & really consistent Some rubbish camera phone pictures attached, full review post skirmish day (or 2) to follow.

  12. Got mine from Octagon Airsoft, trades are lasered on. They are really nice weapons, as heavy as my deactivated S&W .357, even has the red insert in the front sight post. Quality is good feels great in the hand, finger grooves in the grip are a bit small but then I have big hands. Shoots really well, nice crack on each shot. Can’t fault them really, I think close, it has the correct weight and you can load the shells which you can’t on a Tanaka

  17. When i was playing regularly it was all year round, can't say I liked rain much but I wouldn't let it put me off. Fast forward to the present day, I don't play often enough, & when I do, the thought of every slip in the mud leaving me in pain for days or weeks afterwards doesn't inspire me, so I think it's fair to say I've become a bit of a fair weather player. Sad innit☹️

  18. At Airsoft Plantation there is a reasonably deep pond on the site boundary at the edge of the village; it is not unknown for a player to mistake it for surface water.

  19. I actually prefer cold/mild temperatures in Autumn and Winter as long as it's not raining heavily. It's much more comfortable for me than in the baking heat of late Spring and Summer.

I'd second Vector. I have a number of their sights, both red dots and scopes, and they're all really good with great quality and finish.

  21. It went on a VFC GBB, it was a direct fit. VFC trigger pack dropped right in, only needed the navy fire selector as the cam is longer than the one for stamped lowers. I think real trigger packs will work on the GBBs, but not sure there's any advantage.

    Which Red Dot sight?

https://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/brands/vector_optics overkill for Airsoft and something like a Maverick (red dot) is around £50. They also do a magnifier to sit behind the red dot for around the same price with the same name that has a forgiving eye box and around 4 inches or eye relief. For magnified the Forester LPVO (low powered variable optic) is amazing for the price point, £140. I have really expensive optics from the likes of Eotech, Vortex and Aimpoint and to my untrained eye all the Vector stuff I have tried is punching far above its price range. Dont think you can really go wrong.

  23. I imported a genuine HK G3 navy lower (and some other G3 parts) from the US without issue. Just had them marked as "Airsoft Parts" on the customs form.

  24. as @Lozartsaid, it’s not illegal. But it’s a frustrating grey area that can land you in some trouble. Largest, most likely risk is that customs will confiscate it and you’ll lose it along with your money. I know a couple of lads who’ve been flagged (and visited) by police due to purchasing numerous items of RS furniture directly from US and Europe (Poland I think). Nothing came of it, but it’s always a shock when you get a knock at 6am from police and then asked to present at a police station for an interview. There’s nothing illegal about it, but if you’re buying dozens of AK hand guards in a country where no one can legally own an AK… It raises red flags. I’ve never met anyone who’s fallen foul of this, but there’s always a rumour floating around that if you buy one too many items from Brownells UK, you’ll get a knock on the door ?

For something that looks good on either an M4 or MP5, I'd suggest an Aimpoint clone like a Comp M2 or M4 https://www.skirmshop.co.uk/1x30-m2-red-dot-with-cantilever-mount.html or https://www.skirmshop.co.uk/m4-red-green-dot-with-laser.html Alternatively you could look at EoTech clones like this https://www.skirmshop.co.uk/hhs-red-green-holographic-hybrid-sight-e-154208224.html (which also comes with a magnifier for less than £150) but the main issue with cheap holographic clones is that the glass tends to be quite heavily tinted so can be a bit rubbish in low light. The Aim-O brand is decent enough usually.

  26. I don't think it's an issue: Polenar use DHL so at least you won't have the joy of having to provide a firearms declaration (probably). Obviously you'll have to factor in the import duty and VAT and "handling fees".

    Which Red Dot sight?

Non-magnified? Tube, or reflex? For non-magnified airsoft purposes, I get on fine with this style, which is sold in many many rebrandings from Amazon, eBay or AliExpress. I have two. They're light but solidly enough made, hold their zero over a day, are bright, and have a variety of reticules. Importantly, they're cheap enough not to cry over if you run without a sight protector and they get shot out. I really can't justify paying more than £20-£30 for a sight that's more consistent than the BB. What don't you like about your current sight?

  28. They are ok The winding handle has a habit of falling off, so get it glued onto its screw before you field it. Clones are quite “crunchy” in operation The originals have a much better clutch system and work superbly

  30. Wanting to give HPA a go, I've picked up an Ares Amoeba Honey Badger 013 HPA edition on Monday. Already thinking of what to do with it, but as it has a mock suppressor and the inner barrel comes all the way to the end, I was looking at the Airtech barrel stabiliser and tracer adaptor to fit a short suppressor, however, everywhere I'm looking, even Airtech, they're sold out, so I'll probably look at extending the outer barrel and suppressor instead. Looking at some reviews, I'll probably change the hop rubber, as a lot of reviews suggest the original doesn't last long and maybe upgrade the barrel (same length), to a better quality one. I'll give it a go as is for now though. As I started a new job in January, the overtime I've been doing while training has paid for the RIF, bottle, regulator and hose and I'm still in pocket, so I can get the other parts in my own time. Only thing I forgot to ask the shop, was what weight BBs they'd recommend, luckily I've got a few different weights, so I can have a play while setting it up.

    HPA Engine for MP5K

If it's based on the TM then it's basically V3 but without the motor cage. Depending on what you're dropping in there (e.g. polarstar, wolverine) then the actual engine will be the same but the trigger board may be different. In which case, go for the V3. The MP5K does (if memory serves) have a unique selector plate on it, so if your engine's fire selector mech is based around modifying/reading position of that then you might want to consider picking up a spare to mess with (It's possible this is only relevant to things like Perun Hybrids and not HPA, but worth mentioning).

  35. Far as I know PTS don't own any factory space. The original Masadas were Ares, probably the PDRs, possibly even the original FPGs though that one's chinese whispers. Various AEGs and GBBRs by KWA over the year, other AEGs by CYMA more recently.. list goes on. No idea about the various plastic accessories or handguards etc etc, they might be from entirely nameless factories that airsofters have never heard of. Most brand names we see down the end of the road at the actual retailers do this to at least some extent, if not entirely in some cases.

  42. What he said. A decent day at Worthing, despite the predicted rain that happily didn't arrive until I started driving out of the car park. I opted to run the NGRS MP5 A5 today and it was on point as ever. The compact size meant it's easy to tuck in to places and the accuracy is good enough to put the red dot on your target and get decent first round hits out to 55m. As @Impulse said, we tucked in and shot a lot of people. I think I did about 10 mags worth of semi, which is good going. I didn't have a good picture as to what the rest of the team were doing, but we were actively engaged around the objectives and getting kills, so didn't seem any point pushing on. The teams had been split with new players and ghillie snipers being equally divided up, but there was still some rebalancing done at lunch. I ended up moved across to yellows and had to make that mental note of not instantly wasting the team you're now on due to colour confusion. There was a balloon game. I didn't really follow other than to head vaguely in the right direction and harass people to cut them off from objectives. My teammates were very pleased with their inflated balloons (which had to then be taken to various objectives) until I queried why they didn't wait until *after* we got to the objective to inflate them, rather than running through the woods trying to keep hold of them. Always good to watch the expression on someone's face as realisation slowly dawns... As noted, afterwards the Marshalls commented on how much better the yellows were now playing after lunch after the team moves. I didn't like to point it out BUT WE KNOW THE REASON. Just saying. ? All in all, a decent day out, well marshalled and burger excellent. The only issue is the lack of magnified optics on the MP5, but then it's meant for CQB, not sniping. Next week I shall return to UCAP Vanquish and give it another run through in a more appropriate environment.
