It's all sorted now, they're equipping their highly trained extremely athletic marshaling team with mobile laser guided chronos, they'll be checking the fps of every bb as they cross the playing area, with offenders being warned "stop it, it's naughty", which will obviously scare the living shite out of them, ensuring they don't re-offend 😏 When old Bert isn't weeding out dem cheetahs, you can usually find him cleaning out the shitters💩 or cooking the burgers & sausages. 🤢3 points

nighthawkkhan and 2 others reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
This rather highlights that all pre-game chrono is safety theatre, whether it was done (or not done) 7 days or 7 minutes before game on. Broken drum, but far too many sites and events treat chrono as something they do so that they can say they did it and everybody passed - sometimes after going away then coming back to claim they have a different weight of BB loaded. The realty is that cheaters are - definitionally - going to cheat[*] whatever system they put in place, and can only be caught on the field, in the act. I've been chronoed precisely once in game, and even then, only because I was honest enough to say that the gun I was using wasn't a site rental like the marshal had assumed. That's really pretty appalling, and speaks to the mindset of sites and marshals who want to look the other way and avoid confrontation and trouble, rather than seeking it out and yeeting it clean out of the hobby. UKARA renewal
Rogerborg and one other reacted to Speedy Sloth for a topic
I do agree with UKARA existence if it's a way to keep the sport going (which it has done and hopefully will continue until the heat death of the universe.) But being devils advocate the UKARA scheme only exists as a method to sell rifs from retailer's to the public. Once it's in the public's hands UKARA has nothing to do with it anymore. You don't need a UKARA to have a rif. And nobody waving one around in public is being checked on the database. The police won't care where you got it from just why you wanted to get shot by armed response. Having a UKARA simply justifies a retailer selling you something because someone was overzealous with the rules at one point in time. we make it easier to get an air gun than an Airsoft replica in this country, makes no sense.2 points -

Hi Jamey, even though you've been here some time, welcome, please take the time to read the forum rules, including the classifieds rules, & then start a new thread in the correct classifieds section, adding all the requested information. Also, please add some more pictures of what your selling, & please add a piece of paper with your username & date handwritten on it, & include this in the pics of what your selling. Sorry to hear your having to quit, that's bad luck, unfortunately bad luck stories often lay the foundations for scammers to draw people in, hence why we need "proof of life" ?. Thanks2 points -

m 1919 replica

Sustained dry firing is not good for a AEG and when it fires it's going to sound like a sewing machine. You would be better off figuring out how to make the bolt cycle and use a speaker system to simulate fire.1 point -
m 1919 replica
JinxDuh reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will correct me if I'm wrong but I was always told that dry firing an AEG isn't good for the life of the internals, particularly the piston. As I understand it the bb in the barrel slows air escaping down the barrel and acts as a cushion stopping the piston slamming into the gearbox1 point -

Jamsandwich reacted to Tommikka for a topic
A chrono takes 2 readings of the BB passing it, over a known distance and the time it took to pass between those two known points - giving the velocity Velocity = distance / time (Though to be pedantic that is actually the speed, because velocity includes direction - a chronograph assumes that the object is going in the right direction) Joules are the energy, therefore the mass must be taken into the equation Chronos don’t have scales so a calculation is made against a set mass In paintball we make the assumption that paintballs are ‘standard’ and measure the velocity (the general maximum is below the legal energy limit for paintball) and the international standard for paintball goggles includes a maximum velocity in the design as well as the impact limit of the lens itself …. Which includes the breathing holes etc In airsoft due to the smaller mass there has always been scope for higher velocities (and then changes occurred on joule limit - if applied to paintball our balls would just about roll out of the barrel) With the range of different BB weights depending on material specifics airsoft rules get set in joules and therefore should be checked on a case by case basis against the BB Therefore paintball chronos are expected to report velocity in FPS and airsoft chronos are either set to convert velocity to energy internally or a reference table is used As you’ve noted your chrono has an assumed mass therefore gives you the wrong joules, which means it’s measuring velocity, calculating joules at an assumed mass and then you need to recalculate back from that 0.2gram mass to velocity then apply 0.23 gram to come up with a corrected energy ….. You should be able to divide by 0.2, and multiply by 0.23 (or just multiply by 1.15?)1 point -
Pyramex i Force Goggles
Rogerborg reacted to you can`t shoot me for a topic
I sent another email to pyramex asking about the ASTM F2879-19 which is listed on the i-force as specific for airsoft. The report tests for this by a lab was done with 0.2g bbs at 175m/s for a lens retention test and 0.25g at 177m/s for a high impact test. The results showed that 5 samples passed all the tests for the impact test in -12, 23 and 37 degrees celsius tests with both the temples and straps. One sample failed the lens retention test with the temples when cold stressed at -12 degrees celsius but passed with the straps. Two other samples passes the lens retention tests at 25degrees and 37 degrees celsius with both the temples and strap tests.1 point -

Colin Allen reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
This catches a lot of people out, not helped by some sites still talking in terms of "FPS" when the very next thing they have to say it "... with a 0.2g BB". All chronos measure feet per second (or metres per second) regardless of what you're shooting through them, whether it's a 0.2g plastic BB or a 115 grain full metal jacket 9mm bullet. But what actually matters to the target is the energy of the projectile, which has to be calculated from the speed and the mass. This is typically measured in Joules, although airguns still tend to talk in terms of foot-pounds, which is also a measure of energy. Legally speaking, what is and isn't an airsoft gun is defined by the energy in Joules, and their insurance policies will use that too. Talking or thinking in terms of fps is really archaic now, and can actually result in some big oopsie when players turn up with guns shooting "350 fps" but with something like a 0.25g BB, which works out at 1.42J, way over site limits or even the legal limit for an automatic airsoft gun. It's unfortunate and pretty unusual that your chrono can't be set to display Joules based on a projectile weight, but I'd highly encourage you to start thinking in terms of Joules instead of fps, and always testing with the weight of ammo that you intend to use (and for woodland, we'd recommend using the heaviest weight that your wallet and hop unit can stand, I typically use 0.28g) There are plenty of conversion charts available, or calculators that will work it out: http://www.coderedairsoftpark.com/pages/park-rules-and-hours/fps-calculator.php The tl;dr is that if you're shooting 0.23g then the maximum fps you should be aiming for is about 325, which comes out at 1.12J. For safety's sake (i.e. to not come out hot on the site chrono) you'll generally want to test yourself at about 1.1J, or about 320 fps with 0.23g.1 point -

When you consider the VCRA may have banned the sale and possibly ownership of RIFs, one can imagine that UKARA opted to keep a long record of its members to satisfy the government agreeing to the compromise, if any of those members (current or expired) were stupid enough to open-carry a RIF in public. GDPR does permit the retention of personally-identifiable information for as long as it's deemed necessary or justifiable until you explicitly request your personal data be removed or be rendered anonymous. In my case, it was from UKARA. May this year.1 point

An old Pilot sat down in Starbucks and ordered a cup of coffee. As he sat sipping his coffee, a young woman sat down next to him. She turned to the pilot and asked, ‘Are you a real pilot?’ He replied, ‘Well, I’ve spent my whole life flying biplanes, Cubs, Aeronca’s, Neiuports, flew in WWII in a B-29, and later in the Korean conflict, taught 50 people to fly and gave rides to hundreds, so I guess I am a pilot – what about you?’ She said, ‘I’m a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about naked women. As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about naked women. When I shower, I think about naked women When I watch TV, I think about naked women. It seems everything makes me think of naked women.’ The two sat sipping in silence. A little while later, a young man sat down on the other side of the old pilot and asked, ‘Are you a real pilot?’ He replied, ‘I always thought I was, but I just found out I’m a lesbian.’1 point -
Not chronoing because people chrono'd their gun at a different game and then relying heavily on the honesty and integrity of players. What could possibly go wrong?1 point

FPS will remain constant as you change the weight setting because the chrono reads the velocity of the BB, which has not changed. The chrono then uses the velocity and the set weight to calculate the energy in Joules.1 point -

MC is a solid choice for playing taskforce, most good guys accept it. A JPC is the standard, there is the JPC 1 and JPC 2. The JPC 2 is more modular, more expensive and you have to buy extra pouches (which isn't a bad thing). AVS is considered god mode but expensive, CPC is generally for heavy loads and there is the SPC which is getting a lot of love as well. All real versions are expensive £200 plus second and. TMC do very good clones - check out weapon762, find what you want then shop around. Best prices are imported, but then you wait, import fees etc. Ferro concepts do the FCPC which is the current trend one.....i suspect it wont be long until its something new (though it looks awesome. Spiritus systems do the l119 which I really like the look of. Helmet wise - PTS do a very god clone of the mtek flux which I think is incredibe quality and good if you have a bigger head, the FMA Aramid maritimes are then probably the next best clone. You can get legit ops core carbons for around £400 and Team wendy bump helmets at similar money. For comms, baofengs is the main handset, but will require a special ptt to work with real headsets, check out fivefivefour communications online and jci comms on instagram for options on headsets and ptts (they aren't cheap!). They have some weird hate thing for each other going on I believe. its' easy to spend silly money, get a good idea of specific requirements before parting with your cash. Nowadays, very few people do impressions (they do happen) but it's not like the old days. most just want realistic looking kit.1 point -
SE Tour Review: AWA Herts (Hertfordshire)

Nice review, I would encourage you to come again. The sight has been taken over by new owners and is being redeveloped. There are a few new game types and some older areas being used regularly like the old pillbox. They do run fall back games, and a fun one with many barrels around you have to get back to base. Or you can raid the enemy's stash if they're all out hunting. I like the sight as you can't play the whole place in one day. I have found everyone there are quite friendly1 point -
