You misunderstand me. I used to use 1,1,1, Trichloroethane to clean stuff in an ultrasonic bath when I was an apprentice. Before a) it was banned or b) airsoft was invented. Also - you really shouldn't used Trich in an ultrasonic cleaner, it's flashpoint is really quite low!2 points

Modern molle mag pouches for STG-44 mags?
TheFull9 reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
AGM - it seems that you can buy midcaps now - 190 rounds. They feed absolutely fine. Interestingly, the outer shell still has the hole in it for the hi-cap winder, so they obviously haven't bothered making a new part or are using up old stock. That's a midcap in my photo above - with the winding hole! e.g. https://www.bullseyecountrysport.co.uk/agm-mp44-magazine-190rd-mid-cap-63791-p.asp Thanks for your advice on mag pouches, I've been giving that more consideration - and plausibly the double P90 pouches would fit a single mag (I dug out some old p90 single mag pouches and you are right, they are a fraction too narrow. I've always preferred closed top pouches - a bit irrational I know. I'll investigate the radio pouch idea - good suggestion. I'm also coming around to the idea of just buying the reproductions of the canvas and leather original STG mag pouches. On reflection the dichotomy of modern MC Tropic or tiger stripe Crye style combats with an old canvas and leather pouch on the waist could be quite amusing. A bit like, say, wearing that garb and running an STG44! I've now had a chance to give the STG a bit of a run in the garden - really rather impressed. It's an absolute beast, weighs a ton, solid, and I'm loving its weird retro looks. Also loving that you can very clearly see that its the grandfather of the G3 (and CETME before it), and of course the AK. It shoots fabulously - I haven't even cleaned the barrel out yet, and on 0.25s it was reliable hitting a torso sized target at 50m and probably further if i had the range to test it (albeit out of the box it is shooting at DMR power levels) - I might just epoxy a fake rivet to prevent the fire selector moving to auto and call it a day.1 point -

I finally solved my problem yesterday night. There are some play on the G&p trigger parts, in lateral way. These play generates problem/interference with the fire selector selector. So I reworked the fire selector to allow the parts to move all it’s way in lateral mouvement and now, no more problem.1 point

The one question I have (and this is hearsay, so mind yourselves), is that I've heard most airsoft brushless motors actually incorporated a ramping program specifically to slow down the startup, as early models had a habit of snapping their shafts. No clue where I heard this, but maybe something to look out for...1 point

I decided to bite the bb and paid them a visit last night. I've put a post on the 'how did your airsoft day go' thread so I'll keep it short here. A nice little site which is well run. The only negatives were that they don't allow bangs and some of the dead players giving people's positions away. I'd definitely visit again but I don't know how often they change the layout as it could get a little boring if they don't1 point -

Hi fella 👋 Welcome to the forum 🙂 Sad to hear that you are no longer able to carry on,I won't push you on your situation but most sites do try and help with disabilities. I have shot at bisley although a few years ago now and enjoyed it although the overnight accommodation left a lot to be desired lol. The Dorset air ambulance and RNLI are very good charities to support and I have been supporting the Dorset air ambulance for years👍 You sound like a very interesting chap( Thin Lizzy and all) and I wish you all the best 👍 What part of the country are you? Modern molle mag pouches for STG-44 mags?
The_Lord_Poncho reacted to TheFull9 for a topic
Which Stg actually has midcaps? I'd always thought the AEG out there only had hi-caps available (that's all I'd seen stocked anyway). P90 was my only thought, probably long enough but gonna be a close call width wise. Any shingle type pouch or placard that's 5 PALS rows high/deep would work of course since they're open topped but will have enough depth to actually secure the mags and sink the centre of gravity deep enough. Common flapped double mag pouches with the elastic in the middle often work for this type of thing if you tuck the flaps in. Potentially might have to look at the likes of radio pouches or tall GP pouches if you want a closed top.1 point -
Hi, sorry to hear that you can't play anymore. Do your limitations allow to carry on shooting in any way? I'm not after anything in particular but do you have any pics or more details about what you have?1 point
-
It's not so much the length of the motor that's a problem, more that the space between the bearing point and the back of the motor shell is less on a brushless motor. If the motor was shorter but still the same sort of profile then you'll get the same problem.1 point

Made the hour and a bit trip down to gunman airsoft for a change of scene as the local site staff had all upped and buggered off to ibiza. It was only my second visit in a year to gunman and as usual it was a well run day and they made sure to take breaks, encourage people to drink and provide water if necessary. From my own point of view it was a great day. we played the woodland side in the morning and switched to the buildings/open area side for the afternoon. games flowed well and for a change i was on a team not getting rolled into oblivion. We had a guy named Nel (firefighter) who was trying to organise and encourage some great team play and that makes a huge difference, especially on a regular skirmish day. Add in finally my wolverine mtw decided to perform as i hoped it would and the combination off ess crossbows, valhalla gasket and ex fog unit provided a rare fog free day (may they continue). So a happy airsoft sunday for a change.1 point -

Hoping this will help locals give this site consideration for a visit, sorry for the wall of text. Armageddon Airsoft: The Woodland - £20 walk on. First time at this site depsite being on my doorstep and I have nothing negative to say about anything within the sites control. The site had a raffle for a CYMA Deagle AEP on the day at £2.50 per ticket. Staff were super friendly and chatted with all players all day (incuding the owner) even getting involved in the games later on. No issues with hit taking or similar. Everyone attending was there to have fun. Three dogs mooching around the safe area at all times is always appreciated. Longer break between game modes due to the warmer weather we've been having. We started out with a 'capture the objective' game mode where teams had to activate/de-activate lights on an objective box between the two team spawns. Our team were second to the objective but handily dispatched the other team and defended thee objective as the enemy team declined to use the better sight lines afforded from their side of the field. Great comms across all players. Second game was an attack/defend scenario further back in the site. Defenders with 3 lives, attackers with unlimited. The defenders who last the longest win. We attacked first getting bogged down (quite literally) in some places due to stubborn defenders who were eventually relieved. Again, no issues with hit taking or similar. Switching sides meant we were defending and we had elected to not reload our mags leading to a overly long delay into the attack as the attackers filled up. We outlasted the attackers despite some minor confusion over how much of the site was playable (given it's literally a block of woodland). Regardless, we held out and won. By lunchtime, it was 2-0. Sadly, players left during lunch but that can't be helped. Teams shuffled randomly to assist balance. After lunch was capture the flag. The flag was in a very exposed middle area between the two spawns. I'm pretty sure the bolt action players could reach each other spawn. The field was super wide but narrow if that makes sense. Mostly my focus was on the right flank as it had some heavy shrubs/bracken offering concealment and limited structures for cover. After fumbing a pyro throw and being killed by a likewise reply I went left from spawn and moved through the pyramid style barricades and log walls that had been constructed. After 4 or 5 clean semi-auto kills the action on my flank died down and game end was called with the enemy team getting the win. 2-1. It was during this game that half my charging handle decided to drop off. Amazing. The final game I played was 'duo kill confirmed' where everyone had one armband which was your 'life'. If you got hit, you counted to 10. If, within that 10 seconds, anyone came to claim your armband (and you were left without one) you were out. If you counted to 10 and no one claimed it, you were back in. The spicy rule to this game; if you killed someone and took their band, it's a extra life. In theory, you could have as many lives as players on the field if you killed them all and took their bands. If the enemy you killed had multiple bands, you can only take one while they count down from 10. For this game mode, myself and the player I was teamed with purposely backed ourselves into the corner of the play area so that we only had two angles to watch. We were engaged in a lengthy trade off with another duo resulting in nothing but wasting ammo and the enemy duo retreating as well as discovering strange hop issues arising from both our rifles. Fuck. After a few minutes of fuckery, we managed to get our rifles settled in time for TWO separate teams joining forces against us, pushing from both sides. This was our Alamo and my excuse to break out all of the pyro I had brought. One of the enemy split away and pushed to our left who I 'killed' several times but was never close enough for me risking running to take his band. My partner was in a slightly elevated tower watching the mid and right, delaying the other three enemies as much as physically possible. Eventually the enemy on my left got close enough I could just throw pyro at him to get the kill and delay his attack but still not close enough to take his band. Then it happened so quick, my partner was hit, I killed his killer, I was killed, partner was back in - killing my killer allowing me back in, rinse and repeat. The enemy pushed closer all the time this was going on and eventually ended with myself and my partner being out and we watched the final two teams constantly trade fire two feet away from each other while laughing before calling it a draw realising it was fruitless. Negative: In small areas it was boggy, almost lost a boot at one point Also, nettles suck which I knelt in a few times plus thorns. Nothing new to woodlands players. Positive: What a great day, will definitely be going back here. Owners, site, level of play, game modes and players were fantastic. Can't recommend enough.1 point -

I will keep an eye out for someone swearing at an M16A1! A lot of mine are of a similar vintage; I quite often wander around with an L1A1. Looking at their rules, I can see why you were confused about grenades: No pyro or flash-bang grenades Keep all grenades under head height Grenades hit a 3-5m radius, barrels and curtains don’t protect you0 points -
