Excuse the picture angles. my attempt at an impression based on 2nd Infantry Division 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team Iraq 2003-2004. All genuine kit besides the PRC-148 radio as the genuine ones are encrypted and restricted. The M4 is still a work in progress as I’d like to add some more genuine parts to it. I’ll then post that on the gun pic thread. The base uniform is the CCU Close Combat Uniform in 3 colour desert. These were trialed between 2003-04 by the 2nd ID and 25th ID SBCT in Iraq along with some 173rd AB.5 points

We did the same in Afg with knee pads - just a convenient way to store it, when not wanting it in place on the joint. Heat, sweat, sand and tight elastic straps makes them mega uncomfortable if worn on the knee all the time.4 points -

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Impulse and one other reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
This morning, the lad and I set off for a journey across southern parts of London to spend the day at Tactical Warfare Airsoft, a site where we have had a few good days over the last few months. As usual, there were a fair number of rental players present and, before the morning safety briefing, the lad twice removed magazines from rentals' guns in the safezone. After the usual safety brief, which included the usual talk about eyepro, no magazines in guns in the safezone and no dry firing in the safezone, we set out into the game zone for the first game; turning around to talk to the lad, I was shocked to find that the marshal who was with us was not wearing eyepro in the playing area; I immediately pointed this out to him and that there were players with loaded weapons and that some were shooting. He argued that it was not a problem but, after some persuading, put them on. As we assembled for the first game briefing (60+ players with loaded guns), I noticed that the same marshal was standing 2m away from, and looking at, a rental player who had removed his eyepro and was making no attempt to get him to put it back on. Both of these incidents were reported to the head marshal, who stated that he would "have a word" with him. The first game was a fairly straightforward capture the flag using the village and part of the wood; this turned into a stalemate with some very dodgy hit taking. This was followed by a fallback game; as the defenders we had one life in each of Badger Base, Jungle Base and the Pit. This was mostly a good game, except for repeated concerns that an HPA user on the other team was running a hot gun; experienced players were reporting that hits were hurting far more than they should. When the lad challenged him on it, asking what weight he was using, he claimed to be using 0.20g BBs. The lad then mentioned it to the head marshal, who responded that it had passed chrono. Another player suggested that it be spot checked, but this was rejected. There was also massive confusion about the boundaries for each stage; at the Pit, several of our players were hit by opponents who were out of bounds, as no information had been given to them as to where they could and could not go. When it came time to turn the game around, we found that more than half of our team had disappeared, either going back to the safezone or leaving. Despite this, we made a gallant attempt. While attacking Badger Base, I asked a marshal if a couple of enemy players were out of bounds; his reply was that they probably weren't as that was where they were firing from, which made no sense. We then asked how far we could flank round to attack them and were told we could go wherever we wanted; I checked whether this included flanking around behind the Pit and was told that we could not do that, so I asked again where we could flank round them. The marshal replied that we could go anywhere that we wanted, so I again sought clarification on what this meant with regard to sneaking up on them by flanking around behind the pit. The response was again that we could not do that. Apparently, anywhere that we wanted was not anywhere that we wanted. Utter disorganisation! Lunch followed, during which the lad again had to remove a magazine from a rental's gun; unlike every other site we play at, TWA does not check that players returning to the safe zone have removed mags and cleared their weapons. On several occasions, triggers were pulled in the safezone, with no response from the marshals. After one player had twice fired long bursts (no BBs fired) with an SMG, I raised this with the site owner, who went over and told him not to do it again. We discussed leaving but decided to give it another try after lunch. After the sides had been rebalanced and afternoon arrivals integrated into the teams, we set off for the next game. This was a game in which we, as the attackers, had to fight our way into the village, collect six barrels and get them back to our start point; we had infinite regens on our start point and the defenders had two lives. After a stiff fight and some hilariously bad hit taking, we fought our way into the village, whereupon the 0.20g HPA guy inflicted some serious damage on a couple of players, drawing blood; he also hit my webbing, the impact leaving me in no doubt that he was not using 0.20g BBs. Once this game finished, we decide to leave; we will not be returning to Tactical Warfare Airsoft. Unfortunately, it has reverted to being the shit show that it previously was, with the added bonus of little or no apparent concern for players' safety or even marshals' own safety. I second this, and use both of them. First game we ever played the lad got three ticks. I once had 14! The one on the back of my bollox was not funny. Forget the embarrassment and get someone to check you over. Use your phone camera if on your own. FFS delete the vid straight away....1 point -

O’Tom tick twister great for removing ticks - there’s always a risk of squeezing too hard with tweezers and leaving the tick’s head under the skin, leading to infection. Smidge, another top recommendation - made from natural ingredients, kind to skin and plastic toy gnus and smells nice. The benefits of 30+ years living, working and playing in the outdoors… 🙂1 point -

They all tend to do the same job, some cost more than others but it's airsoft not real combat. If you want the 'look' then you'll be able to pick up an acog fairly cheaply & you could spend the savings on rail covers, fore grip, sling, wasdn light or peq box. or mags of course. really depends on what you want & like the look of. type M4A1 into the search box for ideas.1 point -

Tbh I don’t know the genuine reason behind it but, it seems to be pretty common practice looking at hundreds of pictures. My first thought was that they’d just fallen down however, it’s always the left pad around the ankle. The only thing I can think of is when in a seated position you can sit on your foot 🤷🏻♂️😂 I honestly don’t know. It doesn’t get in the way that much when in game. Something to look in to I guess. Nice spot though. I have seen a few guys with just the right pad as well though. Again, this makes me think the ankle position is deliberate.1 point -

No pics but a new G&G mid cap mag. Its very snug and takes a little effort to get it in but theres no wobble and it feeds fine. A 20mm quick release riser for the Warthog as the red dot is a little low. The acog is fine but i dont know which I'm going to use yet.1 point -

Personal admin/Hygiene Going for 48 hours without washing will "probably" not kill you. I mean Jaykay from Jamiroqui last washed in 1983 and is fine. There are however a few things that are useful: Insect repellent. In the warmer (game season) months most sites will have flying bugs. If you are out at night or lying up you can end up being a magnet for creepie crawlies. There are various strengths and products designed to treat clothing and mosquito nets as well as put directly on your skin. DEET is a common ingredient but deet free versions exist for those who don't like it. In the UK the main problem are tick which carry various unpleasant diseases. In addition to repellant you can get tick removal tweezers, but not best used mid-game.... Remember to blouse those combat trousers! "Hygine kit" If you are planning on being on the game field for more than a day a small ziploc bag containing, wet wipes, tissues, rubbish, hand gel and a chewable toothbrush will cover a lot. Add a small booboo pouch of plasters and blister pads and it can easily be wedged in the back of a hydration pouch or pocket. Lip balm and sun block (if needed) are better kept in a chest pocket or similar. At the FOB: Some sites are blessed with actual toilets, maybe even a shower bock. For most it's a portaloo who's previous user was Big Dave who staggered in after a bender last night and has just emptied out three king size doner kebabs. This is why it's good to have toilet roll, hand sanitizer and a gas mask at base camp. 🤢 If you are at an event with no facilities at all building your own "log cabin" in the game field isn't really the done thing. There are simple portable sets ups that use a small pop up tent, Bucket with seat and a bag of absorbent material. The same tent can generally be used to hang up a solar shower. Ideally these should be filled with mains/potable water as water from a stream will still carry bacteria. These will breed like crazy in the shower given a few days of warmth. If you are going to the point of having an actual wash kit then a lot of travel soap or trek wash is designed to be used with little or no additional water. Which saves a bit of lugging stuff about. Military products like foot (the groin) powder are fungicides meant for longer deployments so also not necessary for a weekend in most cases.1 point -
Ahoy and welcome. Just to check, do you want an M4 / AR-15 platform? Nothing wrong with that, most of us have one (or two (or three)), but there are few really bad choices in the current market. AK, G36, MP5, P90, M14, pistol-calibre-carbines, they all work. Airsoft is a heart-over-head hobby, the only real regret is being too sensible.1 point

A cunning trick to adding more tie off points (e.g. to tie the centre of a tarp up if there isn't a sewn in loop provided, or to repair an eyelet that has torn out), is to use a small pebble, nut, coin or similar on the underside of the trap., then gather the fabric around it, and tie off against the 'neck' of that.1 point -

Da’ Boyz Supa Dakka Ridgeline: Brainboyz has already done most of da knots. It is red coz dat goes fasta. 1) Loop on end for tree. Sum PRUSSIKs wiv SOFT SHACKLEs(eh?). A bunch more string. Loop end goes around tree. Put rest of string through loop and slide prussiks along. Pull loop snug as you skip merrily to the next tree. Put the string around the tree and pull tight. Paracord stretches a fair bit. Tie a supa-boa-weeble-hitch like what I had just invented. See above. NB: If you can’t tie knots, tie lots. 2) Attach the tarp, basha, cloak of infinite smells etc to the Prussks on the ridgeline. If you are a talentless hack use mini carabiners. If you am da bestest use soft shackles*. See after class. Pull the prussiks tight.1 point -

If you need more energy in a shorter barrel your only way of getting getting more is a harder push, but you won't need the same volume of air. Do you know what cylinder you have, in respect of the porting? I've dropped 25fps by taking one of the spring bearings out. I'm pretty sur I'm over volumed, there's not of a pop from the barrel1 point -
