  1. Bumped into a random guy yesterday, who recognised me from here. Sorry dude, didn't catch your name. Thought I'd pop back and say "HI I'M STILL ALIVE". I marshal more than I play these days. Yesterday was a fun day at Red Alert, with 111 players. Surprisingly, with that number, I got no reports of hit calling or the like, though in the afternoon we did have to deal with an issue of a kid being bullied by a group of other kids. I was, of course, wearing my Irish camo yesterday, or lepretarn. Just the shirt. And apparently I'm now the authority on tag rounds, as I was referred to as the tag grenade guy by two different people yesterday. What can I say, I enjoy blowing people up at range.

  5. A husband and wife were having dinner at a very fine restaurant when this absolutely stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big kiss, says she'll see him later and walks away. His wife glares at him and says, "Who the hell was that!!??" “Oh," replies the husband, "she's my mistress." “Well, that's the last straw," says the wife. "I've had enough, I want a divorce." “I can understand that" replies her husband, "but remember, if we get a divorce, it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris, no more wintering in Barbados, no more summers in Tuscany, no more Infinities and Lexuses in the garage and no more yacht club. But the decision is yours." Just then, a mutual friend enters the restaurant with a gorgeous babe on his arm. "Who's that woman with Jim? " asks the wife. "That's his mistress," says her husband. “Ours is prettier," she replies.

  8. Effort is clearly an issue for you, like making the effort to play a site 3 times in no less than 56 days, not exactly difficult though ? (Unless your like me & for a long time couldn't find a site I liked enough to commit to?) Surely the downside to your cosplay defence is you're restricted to the limited number of retailers that accept it, & potentially screwed over on the price, compared to the relative ease of EVERY retailer accepting ukara, allowing you to shop around . Also, what's the situation on importing rifs on a cosplay defense.
    3 points
  9. I don't assume anything, by your own admission researching a seller is extra effort & you'd rather go to a retailer, a as I previously said, your money, your choice. The point being discussed, that many don't agree with, understandably, is the defence of cosplay has little bearing on airsoft, open to abuse by non airsofters, which in turn puts everything at risk for the genuine players. I sympathise with your situation, I too provide 24/7 care, literally day & night, to a relative, unpaid I should add, who is disabled & has dementia. Add to that I've been receiving cancer treatment since 2021, & severe orthopaedic issues mean I currently can't climb or descend a flight of stairs unaided, so I know exactly how hard it can be to attend games, or even cope with getting around some sites. (I'm determined to not let the health crap force me to quit) Cosplay would have been piss easy for me to use to buy rifs, but I don't agree with it for Airsoft rifs for all the reasons previously mentioned, maybe cosplayers and reenactors should have been made to go down the route of deacts or similar, in order to not "muddy the waters" for airsofters. & as has been mentioned, maybe people like you & I, who find themselves in difficult personal situations should have more flexible options for attaining a ukara defence. I'll put this out there as a general question, for example has anyone ever approached a site where they've started playing, but for whatever reason have had a protracted break between games, & asked the site to honour the previous games & make an allowance for the time away ?, allowing players get ukara approval.

  13. So am I like the only person that actually asks for proof of defense for the stuff i sell? Also how is this thread still going. Just Cos goes against the the defense that was hard won and completely undermines the airsoft industry's ability to prove it can self regulate by selling RIFs to anyone and is a wonderful piece of ammunition for any pollical group who feel the need to go after airsoft.
    2 points
  14. I've had maybe 3 or 4 members insist on some form of defence, initially adamant about ukara, but instead was able put together enough relevant info, as well as proof of an extensive rif armoury that shows that there's no criminality involved by adding to the collection. Obviously claims of "brand new" etc need to be taken with a pinch of salt, after all @avenger63 claims nearly everything he sells is new?, which we know is bs. But looking at the seller, feedback, post count, & most importantly post content, can give you an idea of the type of person your dealing with, whether its a commited knowledgeable player or a surly know nothing chav will definitely be an indicator of the quality of kit their selling, & if their claims are to be believed.

  17. The fourth of the Vukodlak war storyline battlesims, and the final chapter for this story, is on the 28th of April, and selling out fast. If you've not been to one of our battlesims before you can expect a day of non stop action with objectives, NPCs giving quests, and just ridiculous airsoft fun. Vukodlak forces have been victorious three years running, want to help roll them into a fourth? Or perhaps you feel you're what is needed to put an end to the Vukodlak menace in Europe. Book Here Now: https://redalertpaintball.co.uk/booking/red-alert-battlesim-dictators-demise/ "Following the involvement of Caldia against the Volkenian forces, all out war has plagued both nations for the last year. The last two super powers have been battling back and forth across the ocean, land and air. However, the Volkenians have managed to secure the entirety of the Eurdian continent. Whispers have turned into rumors, but have now been confirmed by various national spies, that the Volkenians have indeed secured and are close to weaponizing the nuclear core from the Mantzouka facility onto a makeshift ICBM. The Caladian war machine, now the only real threat to the Volkenians, are looking to push them back, and secure the very super weapon that they have been working towards. The Volkenians know of this plan, but are stretched thin. Caladias only hope of stopping the Volkenians once and for all, is to wrest control of this weapon and use it themselves."

I have a niggling urge to learn more about the glock series of pistols, a sure sign that my next purchases will be a few glocky things, I've always known there were several in the series but is each one available as an airsoft pew? Unlikely to use any in game so it's more about starting & completing a collection for me, is a complete collection possible?

  19. Your case, and to a much lesser degree mine is why we need an alternative to the UKARA system. But like I mentioned, we're very much a minority sport, and within that you and I are a minority, so options are limited. Might be easier to get a sub category within the UKARA system to reduce fuckery with imports.

    Glocks

Welcome to the glock rabbit hole! I myself am a glocklover and are trying to collect as many as possible, although I’m also trying to make them good to field. Also I’m a sucker for correct trades. So often I’m finding myself swapping slides and frames. As Jim states above I would also say that about 75% are available as airsoft versions. Be prepared to burn a big hole in your pocket.

  25. Ppl will get the gearbox as quiet as they can. Gears whirr and don't always mesh properly regardless of shimming but it's a worthy task. Reduce the piston noise with pads or even an airbrake, match the spring and volume to reduce the slap and the muzzle report. Pad the reciever with butyl soundproofing. Silencers do reduce the muzzle report and slap noise getting out but it's a lot of work it seems. Absorbing the higher frequencies does a lot for changing the perception of the loudness and the ability of the ear to percieve direction.

  26. Krisz

    How do they do that?

HPA is only "quiet" when you put an HPA engine into a gun and attach a foamed suppressor to it. Otherwise a slide on a pistol or a bolt on a gbbr still makes a very distinguishable noise regardless running them on HPA. To be honest even HPA engine can be heard up close (let's say you're within 5 meters) and every engine has its own noise signature. A kythera sounds different compared to a jack or inferno etc. I don't think that an AEG can be as quiet as an HPA because those moving gears always make a noise regardless what you do. Altough some peple put foam into certain guns to make it happen (I only read about AUG and P90's because there is a lot of empty space in both guns for insulation). But answering your question yes shimming your gears to death to achieve that deep, thumping noise is supposed to be the ultimate solution. Plus adjusting motor height.

  29. As others have said they don't check. there maybe buyers on here with perfect records who have never set foot on a site or not played in years. The chances of a prosecution happening are astoundingly low but sooner or latter it will happen. some one will sell to a brainless fuckwit who will point a RIF at a member of public and when they are arrested you bet they will squeal who the sold it to them. Don't know about every one else but having my life ruined over a toy gun is not worth the risk.

  30. Looking at the classifieds pop up from members with zero feedback, and even less forum interaction - I am somewhat surprised at how easy it is to post an ad. Some are blatantly from dealers/shops/not skirmishers.

  31. I’m not having a pop at you, bud they are your RIF’s to sell , but….. If you had something up for sale and you recognised a regular forum member , who has a reasonable collection already, would you ask them for a defence? Im just trying to gauge when we cross the line? Personally I have never asked for any defence from a buyer of one of my RIF’s

  35. I recently purchased an EMG Noveske N4. My local store does not stock this. Occasionally, I see similar rifs listed here and my past experiences buying and selling rifs through this platform have been positive. However, I'm cautious with ads claiming the item is 'brand new,' 'never skirmished,' or 'used only in the garden,' especially when the asking price is nearly identical to a new item's cost. I prefer purchasing from retailers, so I can try them out, with the option to return if unsatisfied. Also with the added security provided by my credit card and to avoid the hassle of resolving issues with second-hand rifs not being as described. This forum is great for many things, like advice, selling and buying, dragging out threads over 6 pages from a simple question but you have very little protection over sales, other than paypal.

  37. Like I said I wasn’t having a pop at you and I do understand your argument and emphasise with you. The rules and laws clearly aren’t perfect and penalise those that shouldn’t always be penalised. I think perhaps as a collective we could come together and find a solution that benefits everyone that wants to play and not just buy a rif for nefarious reason. The issue you have highlighted has quite simply shows how easy it is for bad actors to purchase rif’s. I was in no way suggesting you are a bad actor or anything other than a good bloke who just wants to enjoy Airsoft.

It’s not my vibe, but to each their own. I do have some concerns though: I can’t see a proper safety rating on the glasses. For me that’s an immediate non starter. The cost is pretty hectic, and for me if I was spending that kind of cash I’d buy another PTS Flux or something equally Gucci. I’d really struggle to get my head behind the sights, and to get a decent cheek weld. Even with a high riser on the sight I don’t think it’d be workable for me. Although the inbuilt fan is supposed to be silent, I wonder if it actually would be and how effective it will be. That looks like a sweaty time. The safety aspect is the most pressing, and I’d investigate that further, but the rest is up to you!

  39. Just after I started playing so maybe 19 had to catch a train as no car or lift, some rando asked what instrument I was carrying in my bag (M16A2) had to bullshit about being a musician for 10 minutes because I didn't want to have to explain airsoft and too timid/polite to tell him to bugger off.

  40. Bingo! A lot of people today seem to be divorced from a self-preservation instinct or reality. Even when I was a teenager playing airsoft, I understood the sheer stupidity of open carry of realistic looking weapons because of how quickly and tragically it can escalate. Just to think the OP struggled to understand why so many in this thread voiced strong opinions about Just-Cos' legitimacy. That some cosplayers lack self-awareness of their own and the public's safety with open carry vindicates those opinions.

I've had a couple of instances where I've been stopped by the police and they could've made an easy arrest but didn't. 44. Reminds of the Glasgow cosplayer who didn't see the issue walking around outside the convention in full riot gear with a blood splattered riot shield and a very easy to see MP7 strapped to his leg,in general Cosplayers have less common sense than airsofters. So basically fuck all.
