ECWCS - Exwax Keeps you warm
Rogerborg and one other reacted to The Waco Kid for a topic
Never had a close look at genuine Swedish kit. I bet it’s hard wearing stuff. I like the Swedish M44 cook system. My pot is knock off Miltec, 😢 , but the rest was unused issue. Well thought out design. I may have more stoves than rifs. 🤷♂️ Is there a thread on “how to survive an airsoft weekender without getting Nora virus”? 😏 Question one - what am bested big roll? Answers will hinge on whether you prefer softness or length. 😋 Also modifying the dispenser for better SPS - sheets per second… I’ll get my ECWCS parka.2 points -

The boy and I will be there, but frustrating as the game days are the other weekends to AWA - was hoping to be able to alternate between the two - not that we will be around after the end of the year. Not sure what changes they've made, will be interesting to see. Bet the farmer is pissed LOL.1 point -

A woman goes into Bass Pro Shop to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter. A Bass Pro Shop associate is standing there wearing dark shades. She says, ’Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?' He says, 'Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything from the sound it makes.' She doesn’t believe him but drops it on the counter anyway. He says, 'That's a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. Test line. It's a good all around combination and it’s on sale this week for only £20.00. She says, 'It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it!' As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. 'Oh, that sounds like a Mastercard,' he says. She bends down to pick it up and accidentally farts. At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was she who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn't know that she was the only person around. The man rings up the sale and says, 'That'll be £34.50 please..' The woman is totally confused by this and asks, 'Didn't you tell me the rod and reel were on sale for £20.00? How did you get £34.50?' He replies, 'Yes, that's correct. The rod and reel is £20.00, but the Duck Call is £11.00 and the Mosquito Repellent is £3.50.1 point

Mechanix gloves : M-Pact vs Fast Fit
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Diemaco for a topic
I use the fast fit as well. Had my current pair for about two years, and they're due for replacement now. Cn't knock them for the money, they're miles better than the Viper ones I used to have.1 point -
Mechanix gloves : M-Pact vs Fast Fit
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
Like you I always used the cheap chinese gloves till I picked up a set of the fast fit gloves last year and they've definitely lasted way longer. Here's what they look like now Considering I use them most days for cycling to work most days I think they're in pretty good condition. As for protection from hits, you'll certainly feel them but they do take the sting off1 point -
Mechanix gloves : M-Pact vs Fast Fit
Lozart reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Coolio, a pair of Fast Fits it is then! Checking the glove-sizing chart on eBay, it seems I'm a "L"arge, for width, but a "M"edium for length (oooooh Matron etc). Should I go for snug-fit? Do they stretch out at all? I guess at this price it's no great worry either way... @Lozart do you have shares in the company? Sounds like you ought to1 point -
Mechanix gloves : M-Pact vs Fast Fit
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Lozart for a topic
I find them all comfortable as they fit my hand shape well, Fast Fits have a thinner palm than Originals or M-Pacts (as evidenced by the hole in the palm of mine from a smoke grenade). Velcro on the Originals etc can be a pain in the dick but it's velcro and they all get buggered up sooner or later. For most frequent use I run a set of Originals, for CQB stuff I have a pair of M-Pact 3 ones with the rubber knuckles. None of them are all that expensive so get both if you can. I also have a pair of the Original Insulated ones for winter use that usually live in my coat pocket for dog walking, a pair of the fast fit waterproof ones that seem to have used a different pattern than all my others because the fingers are definitely longer and a pair of the Windproof ones which are toasty as fuck but about as dextrous as wearing cardboard gauntlets. My wife also has a pair of the Mechanix ladies gardening gloves!1 point -
Mechanix gloves : M-Pact vs Fast Fit
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Emergencychimps for a topic
I'd recommend the fast fit, they seems to give me better dexterity and while they don't quite have the padding for the knuckle shots in comparison to the mpacts, it's enough to take the majority of the sting out of them. Gloves for me have to allow me to retain dexterity, I hate having to take them off to do things, put them back on etc and I find I have to do that less with the originals (fast fit are similar in feel on the hand area) mechanix than I did with the mpacts. The fast fit (and originals) I find have enough padding to do the job, any more and it tends to get in the way, though the extra padding seems sensible if you haven't had them before.1 point -
Mechanix gloves : M-Pact vs Fast Fit
RostokMcSpoons reacted to mp5a4 for a topic
I run fast fits pretty much all the time, it stings but nothing unbearable (actually using Mechanix Vent ATM). I've had some m-pacts and don't find the protection obstructive or annoying, but fast fits are just more simple easy to chuck on and off. If I was running cqb all the time I'd probably be taking the m-pacts though. Fwiw I've never paid more than £16 for fastfits, and although they don't fall apart, they're not the strongest pair of gloves in the world (same goes for the m-pacts tbf)1 point -
Two new arrivals today, one expected and one not. A Ridgeline DrOP, which is something I've been waiting on for a while. Fixes a 'problem' that's annoyed me for a while, first solution I've seen that's not a bodge (not to say it's the first to exist mind you). Essentially does the same as a holster mid ride but for your mag carrier(s). Stops jackets snagging, slight angle on it stops cummerbunds and the like getting in the way and overall just a comfier draw. Initial playing around with it says it's a great purchase, wouldn't be shocked if these sorts of things become 'a hot item' this year. Photo shows old setup versus new, and then how it sits on the belt. And a new Agilite helmet cover to go with the new lid, crazy turn around speed. From Slovakia to here in less than 24 hours. AMPs also throw on there, next on the list is 4D pads.1 point

I liked them mostly because the spoons are fixed which means no lost spoons or buying replacements. As for noise, i've tested 12G blanks with other BFGs and they're barely any louder than .209 and they're definately not louder than any other single-use pyro I own. Only difference is the 12G blanks just emit a big puff of smoke when they go off. I legitimately think that the 9mm blanks are louder than the 12G ones. 12G blanks are just that much more expensive than 9mm or .209 that it's not worthwhile to be honest which is probably why most newer BFGs only cater to .209 primers like the Quake 8 etc. 12G blanks are £15 for 10. £1.50 a bang. 9mm/.380 blanks are £18 for 50. £0.36 a bang. .209 blanks are £8 for 100. £0.08 a bang.1 point

Updated my ww1 uniform end of last month. Using information supplied to me by my local museum, I have made and added unit identifier patches to signify A company, 7th service battalion Northamptonshire regiment of the 24th infantry division, to make the uniform look less plain, though I may need to trim the yellow saltire down a little.. I even have a pair of original brass "Northapton" shoulder titles on the shoulder tabs and an original Northamptonshire regiment cap badge on my cap (though it may need relocating slightly to sit flush on my cap) 1908 webbing needs minor adjustments to fit better, and I have had to make a concession and add a 37 pattern webley holster so I can carry a sidearm, as my Lee enfield has been upgraded and now has a MED.1 point

"Downed Airman" Vietnam kit is just about done - close enough to share at least. I still need a faithful shotshell pouch and due to the EPM-1S mags being taller than standard 20 rounders I need to either get 30 round mag pouches or general small arms mag pouches - still undecided on those. Also waiting for helmet parts to arrive - some missing bolts, fresh straps and foam, etc but none of that is visible so itll look the same as it does now. Ill actually play with it with the visor up and proper eyepro instead, but for pics visor down is Ace.1 point -

Silverback MDR (available for pre-order)

I've got one on pre-order. But, I'm a bit of a Silverback slag so they could release a steaming poop and I'd still buy one even if it were a wall hanger. Planning on using mine as a DMR, but we'll see how it feels once it arrives. Biggest issue for me so far is the battery compartment, or rather the lack of one. It's unable to fit a Titan battery in it, which is a bit of a shame given it's a Bullpup, and usually the space above the barrel is used for batteries. First mod will probably be a battery relocation cable!1 point

Been working on some OPFOR kits. Nothing political meant by any of it of course. Type 21 is just about done (need to custom make one more piece) and I can go with a helmet or BF4 Scout if I want haha. The final pieces for an EMR kit were ordered today, I also have a Downed Airman Vietnam kit in the works, and two or three other Russian/Soviet kits that I think are done as well.1 point -
