Cheers all. Strikeforce in Gloucester is insured for 10 year olds so I did something crazy and booked us in next month. Long trip (from Manchester), but turning it into a "boys weekend" with an overnight stay in a hotel. Going to buy a Viper VX Buckle up mini rig and a Viper Special Ops mini rig as they look really adjustable and pretty useful at a great price. Also going to go for a pair of Valken SE Thermal masks. I think that should do us for our first venture into airsofting. Looking forward to getting my ass shot off. Cheers, Pat.2 points -
Hi @Dylan8 and welcome to the money pit.lol Glad you enjoyed your first time. I remember my first time.....so many years ago. She was good.... But yeah first impressions are always good and it sounds like you had a good bunch.๐ Get the hang of daylight battles before you start to go dark though. It's a whole different ballgame ๐. Best tip I can give you is cover up completely if you do cqb.(close quarter battle). Or you will go home looking like a measles patient! Lol. Long may you play and enjoy.๐ P.s Check out @GAMBLEhe has a tube channel with plenty of tips and practical advice about gear for beginners upwards. Regards2 points

Well, sort of. Yes, ownership is fine, no offence, no defence needed. UKARA is a scheme paid for by retailers, for their benefit. But it covers the offence committed by the retailer. That applies to any seller, retail or otherwise. Everything I've come to expect from airsoft retailers. Incorrect. At the point where you modify in imitation firearm so that it becomes a realistic imitation firearm, you are literally Hitler. See VCRA 2006 S36 (1) (b). Modifying. You can own a RIF without any defence at all. If you are over 18, you can obtain it in any way you like, from anyone, without any sort of defence, because you are not committing any offence. The practical answer. Pffft. I doubt you could find a copper who would know or care about the specific offence of modification, or think to ask the questions that would get you to incriminate yourself. Evidence: this thread. The method doesn't matter, just the act of modification itself. MODIFY! Anyway, tl;dr version, just do it. The fact that you've contacted the local coppers demonstrates that you're a very responsible person, and so it will never in practice be an issue. And also that the police have no idea that an offence is even (technically) being committed, and so it will never in practice be an issue.2 points

as skara said it's got the molded nub on the arm now so not hugely beneficial for flat contact-patch buckings. last few days I've been testing my new nubs and bucking with lots of different combinations of gearbox shells, chambers, nozzles - it really is a nightmare of a minefield. If you do a lot of builds then it's really worth keeping a few different brands to hand.2 points -

Hey All, Been looking at starting a hobby which would make me a little more active than I currently am and Airsoft peaked my interest! Currently sitting at 275lb (and only 5"10) - I'm somewhat overweight! I used to have fairly good stamina for a fat-un, playing Badminton fairly often, where I would get out of breath but would able to keep up with the session/other much fitter plays! But this was pre-lockdown and now my stamina has bottomed out and don't last as long as I used to, though I hope this fixes itself fairly quickly once I start getting active again. I'm fairly shy and take some time to get comfortable in the environment I'm in when its unknown to me (unless there is beer involved... then im alright!). My main reservations are meeting/making friends with the locals and the impact im gonna have on others due to my lack of fitness. I've been reading/watching alot about Airsoft and do want to take that leap to give it a go, but would make it a whole lot easier if it was with a few people who are already into the hobby and would have the patience/banter to support me. So if anyone has any tips/tricks or fancies introducing me to Airsoft locally that would be awesome Thanks1 point

Hello all, My name is Dylan if my username didn't give that away I'm from NW London and had my first skirmish last weekend at Red 1 Airsoft. Really enjoyed it and I noticed a really positive vibe/attitude from everyone which I wasn't expecting. Currently where I'm based the two main sites are Red 1 Airsoft who have 3 different sites & Reforger. For anyone in the same area as me I wanted to know if there's any night time ops or similar as that is something that peaks my interests (week days or weekends) other than that any tips etc are greatly appreciated. ๐1 point

Good luck with the booked event! Don't forget to check, test/wear/setup and otherwise give your gear a run through before you go. Nothing worse than turning up with kit that then fails on you some how. You can't account for everything, but you can certainly try1 point -

Mine arrived today, very fast work from Patrol Base. Took it for a quick trip to the shooting range and it's fab. Zeroed in the sight, slight hop adjustment and it was perfect. I should point out that I'm a complete novice with all this stuff. The real test will be next week when we go to our first outdoor skirmish.1 point -

Although I don't really want to get rid of this, as it is so beautiful, this is the collectors version with real walnut stock and hand guard and hexagon blue steeled barrel. I haven't used it for over a year, in fact I only used it once to plink some targets when I first got it, good fun, but not really skirmishable, due to the range, but it is very accurate! This is a wall hanger and a collectors item, please don't get this thinking it will be a great skirmish gun. However I am looking to sell it to fund a GHK AK. So in regards to swaps it will only be for an GHK AKM.ยฃ310

It is still a good chamber! You can also swap hop arms with similar shape units, I, for example, swapped the arm with a madbull one once. Not the same dimensions but it fit nice and allowed me to use concave tensioners1 point

Its worth noting that players haven't given you consent to be filmed so if its for personal use like watching back with your mates and some beers it's not likely to be an issue however some people (myself included) will get narky if they find there face in a video online without giving prior consent. If people are geared up its usually okay as people are hard to recognise with full face pro but just be mindful that some people are less comfortable with having there likeness plastered on the Internet than others. Other than that this is an activity we all do for enjoyment so if this increases your enjoyment then thats all that matters! And hey if you enjoy or want to learn editing then thats even better so why not chuck it on YouTube or wherever so you can enjoy and document your own work and track your growth as an editor, just dont be a dick and spam everyone with links to it willy nilly.1 point

Ohay and welcome. Since you're already in Billericay, it'll make things easier for you, as there are two good sites there. Someone further above mentioned "Tower Minis", which is a fortnightly Tuesday evening game at "The Tower". This site is run by the folks from "Airsoft Plantation", which is another site pretty much just around the corner. AP runs Sundays, while TT runs Saturdays and the aforementioned Minis every two weeks Tuesdays, so plenty of chances to get out and about locally to you1 point

First night game
Mad-Al reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
one thing i did forget- if you don't normally wear a helmet, a night game is a good time to do so, at least something on your head lest you accidentally walk into tree branches etc that you'd normally easily see in daytime.1 point -
I can confirm they use an integrated type B tensioner. Definitely not an issue if you're not using a R-Hop or any other concave patched rubber (Maple Leaf and others of similar shape). In theory it works exceptionally well with PDI W-Hold rubbers. Adjustment is SUPER stiff but once tuned, they stay there no matter what. Before buying three Maxx chambers I had one of those (black) in my PDW and it worked flawlessly with a prommy purple.1 point

Over the years I've had a handle and shot several people's sniper rigs. I've asked several airsoft snipers what holdover points they use for different ranges, as several rifs have been fitted with MAP style reticules. I've usually received a blank look in reply, so having someone know how to use a rangefinder and holdover might be a bit of a gamechanger.1 point -
First night game
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Spartan09 for a topic
Only played two night games, and both were great fun. First game i didnt get any kills, and i think i only got one kill in the second game, but i did manage to secure half of the objectives dotted around the area (6 flashing beacons... i captured 3) and get them back to spawn.. That said some things i found that might be useful.. 1. Move slowly and pause often to survey the area before your next move. If your eyes have adjusted to the dark you might spot some movement. Sound also carries further at night, so listen carefully 1a. Something i was told by an ex soldier... when stationary and listening for sounds from the enemy, open your mouth. Supposedly it helps equalise pressure between your mouth and youur ear and allows you to pick out sounds better. (He did explain more about the theory at the time, but it was a couple of years ago so i dont recall the details) Personally i didnt notice much difference, but then again my hearing is shit at the best of times after years of listening to heavy metal, so maybe it would help someone with less damaged hearing 2. Avoid any lit areas or people on your team using torches. The longer you are in the dark, the better your eyes adjust to the dark and allow you some limited degree of vison 3. Limit the amount of kit you carry to minimise the chances of snagging or things rattling and giving your position away 4. (Echoing @CrackCommandoUnit1972 ) practice reloading etc in the dark as much as you can before the game. This last one caught me out and i ended fumbling a reload which gave my position away, resulting in me being lit up... first by torchlight, then by incoming fire from several enemies1 point -
Start of a Multicam loadout, which I always said I wouldn't do, but hey ho. Warrior low profile plate carrier, dangler, radio pouch and cargo pack all from UK Tactical. Ferro Concepts Slingster, BFG QD loops and Esstac KYWI triple 5.56 panel, single 5.56 and single pistol pouch from Tactical Kit, and an AATV t-shirt because it helps a brother out and, well, why not? Still waiting on the FRV shooters belt (hope they've sorted their deliveries out as only read the thread after I ordered, and a TMC 354DO holster.1 point

I am going to be brutally honest. Do not expect much. In my personal opinion. Airsoft at night, unless you have gucci nods. It's shit. Yeah you can sneak around for a bit and its fun enough if you are in a urban site that is actually well lit. So you can use the new shadows to go ninja. On sites where its just dark and you have to move by torch. Its generally really shit. In woodland, meh you will spend more time tripping over stuff or walking into shit than actually shooting. THEN when you do actually try and shoot something. You cannot tell what is hitting what, unless you want tracers. You will think you hit someone, you will be sure of it. You will get frustrated and then head back to bed for an early rise the following day. Sorry.1 point

What does it shoot on the ammo that you actually use? I ask because there's a (small but non zero) chance that if it's shooting at 2.32J on 0.2g then it may be capable of over 2.5J with heavier ammo, i.e. not actually an airsoft gun.1 point -

Chest Rig Vs Plate Carrier?
lokkers reacted to MagpieTactical for a topic
Viper VX buckle up chest rig with a dangler pouch, with an FRV Tailoring shooters belt. 3 x 200rd midcaps in rig, underwing pouch for the radio if using it. Speedloader and bbs in a bag that stays at the respawn for each game. Belt has pistol, spare pistol mag, 140 round midcap for speed reloads, Dynatex impact grenade, dump pouch, knife and a medium utility pouch which usually has a spare battery, revision wipes etc in.1 point -

Great to see a good old forum!

It can be worth re-asking, as we're capricious, and the accepted wisdom changes over time. iMax B6 chargers used to be the go-tos, now we're into the SkyRC R65 and T100. CYMAs used to be considered robust but very basic budget guns, now they're doing some pretty decent stuff as well. There are no stupid questions, only sardonic answers.1 point -

Spiritus sent over some new stuff. Their sling isn't my favourite one but if you want a 2-point it is very good no doubt. The new JSTA is interesting and makes a lot of sense for real dude-bros but I put it on my belt in place of my usual mag pouches and I'm not sure if I'll stick with it yet; the bit at the back for inserts is great for a rifle and pistol mag for quick reloads, but there's nothing else I really need to put in the rest of the pouch space. Might have to do some thinking and maybe move it around.1 point -

Came in this morning to check my prints. The outer is great, the base friction fits perfectly to the sleeve and the dimensions are spot on. Internals are a different story one warped when curing and even without the warp they're too tight and cracked the sleeve when I tried to test the fit. Bugger. This is what tests are for though so I'll try again tomorrow with a different technique and slightly looser tolerances1 point -

Doing that makes you guilty of manufacturing an realistic imitation firearm. Though airsofters have a defence so is fine to do as long as you can provide evidence it's for skirmishing.0 points
