Not a single one of my RIF's has a mosfet ( more bloody electronics to go wrong , I hate tech ! ) and they all run 7.4 Lipo's . Biggest thing to be aware of is not over discharging the battery. If I use the same gun all day I change the battery at lunch time.4 points

Most of, if not all ?, of my guns are older generation kit, before mosfets became a "thing", & I run them all on 7.4 lipo's without any issues, did have an 11.1 but stopped using it as it spun everything waay to quickly for my liking.3 points

One of the things I found during my first few games is that I was finishing the day with a headache, although I was packing litres of water away during the day and having lunch. Unfortunately water doesn't replace the electrolytes you use during the game and lose through sweating. I take a 4 pack of lucozade sport now, as they were my go to drink when I used to play football, finish the day headache free now!2 points

G&P RIS Rail and G&P scope mount fit fine. A saddle bag 7.4v Lipo can be fitted in the front RIS however I might need to shorten the wires slightly for it to look a bit better. *edit - A suystema TW5 full stock will fit with a bit of dremeling or sanding.2 points -
@Vialli, definitely get 7.4v Li-Po's [1300mAh or higher that will fit] ...and a good charger. (SkyRC S60) Of my 16 AEGs, only one has a MOSFET. All use 7.4v except the Lonex BAW which uses 11.1v because of the recoil system but it doesn't have a MOSFET. The main downside of not using a MOSFET is arching on the trigger contacts will eventually damage the surfaces possibly to the point of not making good contact anymore but that would take a VERY long time. Using 11.1v will obviously accelerate the process so I'll have to keep an eye on that but even so it will take a long time to have a noticeable effect. Pulling the trigger slowly is worse for this situation.2 points

Yeah but I really can't understand that. What's not to like? For myself I pay my money, get dressed up go along have a great time, chat, drink some coffee and maybe get a few hits during the day which is a bonus. I'm under no illusions as to my abilities. I may as well have a flashing beacon on my head because my prowess at concealment is sadly lacking. I can't lay down( I would probably have a sleep if I did),kneeling is a pain and there are very few trees wide enough or my shape as to provide cover lol. But I'm not there to win prizes for fashion or form. It's because I like it. 👍 Regards2 points -

The new TM NGRS mp5. Had my first game last Sunday with it and as with all TM guns it obviously shoots amazing out the box but with the new MOSFET system, just a huge improvement on trigger response and no lock ups on semi which essentially saves the need for a titan. Trigger pull is short which is nice with good spring tension and the fire selector has a firm click and no play between each setting which is unlike any other AEG mp5 unless your lucky enough to have a TW5. Converted to a SD straight out the box as that's my preferred mp5 variant. I jubilee clip a lower kac rail with a stubby tango grip and looking at sourcing a eotech for the devgru look. As my user name suggests I love mp5s grew up seeing them in films and TV shows, I normally run a MWS as performance wise it's hard to beat but the build quality and performance of the mp5 is outstanding so I bumped the FPS up out the box so its now up there with the MWS and I personally feel like the MWS will start gathering dust now ha.2 points

Yes did build up a SD6. Finished it last night came out lovely. Wasn't too hard to build if you can get original ICS parts and have access to a lathe to build an adapter. Longer barrel and new spring bumped my FPS up too 340 so looking forward to using it tomorrow for its first outing. Also fitted my magpul guard and gemtech QD suppressor from my other ngrs mp5 I built myself to see what fitted and they went straight on. I have a real steel sliding stock that I wanna try out but I think only the rails of the stock will fit with some milling so I might stick with the original as it's way more solid than any sliding stock on Rif.2 points

Hi all I recently played a game at a different site from my normal one. all my guns were firing way under the FPS. but now I’ve been told that they were all too hot due to the joules. At that site the max J for a rif that has full auto is 1.14J ( uk law is 1.3) The site told me this is due to their insurance. but in the five years I’ve been playing Airsoft I never have been to a site that request you to measure in Joules. The law came out in 2017 and has taken them till 2021 to enforce it on this site. so my question is how does everyone feel about this and is everyone finding this problem across the UK? https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/610380/2017_04_19_-_PCA2017_firearms_provisions_-_HO_Circular_-_final.pdf1 point

The folks that dip out before a day is over (or the 'Photo Ops' as I call them). Show up, get their photos to show they were there, contribute very little to game(s) and then disppear early citing a whole number of reasons ranging from injuries to 'the entire other team are cheating'. Just never understood it, and if I was to be leaving early I'd absolutely be getting a refund before I did. I'm aware there are absolutely cases where there is an entirely valid reason, and I'm not talking about those. But especially since all the pandemic restrictions lifted I feel like there are half the people remaining at the end of the day than what there were at the start, seemingly irrelevant of the site. It's been touched on by a few folks, but this is one of the only... perhaps the only hobby I've had where people seem to have it as a hobby, but not actually like playing the game 🤷♂️.1 point -
Working out the best BB weight
AirSniper reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
assuming your son's is the left-hand one then looks like it's not too bad with only one shot being significantly low. the range of readings if you discount that flier is really not too bad and the lower average more likely just means the spring being a tad softer. chrono data like that is about as good a diagnosis of air seal as you can get without stripping the box or having some range time to check vertical dispersion.1 point -
General aeg range
Pewpewpetie reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
speaking as the perspective of someone who's entire style of play revolves around maximizing range you'd be surprised how often people actually do stand around and let you shoot them. most often it's people simply not expecting you to be able to hit them, until you do..... even funnier is how often you'll see people just coming back to the same spot or taking the same route that you literally tagged them in all of 5 minutes prior.....1 point -

/thread You can get hits at longer range, on targets who helpfully stand still while you figure out where your BBs are hooking, slicing, lobbing or dropping at this exact point in time. Mans is getting deja vu: The spreadsheet thread linked in there does some (admittedly basic) math behind bb lobbing, but as @rocketdogbert points out there are a lot of variables. Getting a hit after expending half a mag fired 45 degrees in the air isnt the same range as that where you can aim, fire and (wind/target movement aside) hit a man sized target reliably. I've always taken claims of people claiming to be able to shoot x/y/z meters with a massive pile of salt, and i've never measured it myself because all that matters to me is having that little extra distance compared to the other guy.1 point -

Why sites have a single fire system, while shooting in and out of buildings. I get single fire inside. It's sad that people are more delicate these days and cry if they get lit up but i accept that single fire helps reduce this and can allow for a better flow of game. Fine. What i don't understand is how if the guy is standing by a building, you can light him up. If he then moves into the building and into cover, you are only allowed to single at him. If a guy is standing in the middle of the open, you can light him up. Same guy, if you are in the upstairs of a building, you have to single pew. Stupid logic that makes no sense.1 point -

@Adolf Hamster has already mentioned late starts and overly long briefs. If you need a special brief for newbs/rental, do it separately, tell them to come earlier, I don’t care, but don’t take 1hr for a brief just because you need to explain fundamental principles of shooting BBs to 5 people when the party is 120 strong. I don’t get power players, hyped up on adrenaline, who consistently do not take their shots and jump left and right dodging BBs when they get visibly and audibly hit then banged with a frag (or a few). Goddamn John Wick wannabes. What’s the point? You wanna piss off a few other guys so they spray you till you take your hits? Bad outcome for everyone.1 point -

I mean, people could have ran late, stuck in traffic etc but I get where your coming from. One of my major annoyances is people arriving late to the cinema. Why would you pay for a movie to arrive late missing some of it. anyway back to Airsoft. My main thing is the amount of sitting time you get at a lot of sites, lunch included. The mall gave you 45 mins and was clear, you miss the game brief your not playing. And had a short turnaround in between games. some sites seem to run 60% safe zone to 40% game zone action some days it seems which is really annoying. late starts piss me off too. I get up early on a Sunday to travel into the countryside to then have to sit around for over an hour as the safety brief isn’t until 10am even through the website said arrive by 8.30. What’s that all about!!1 point -

However, when i look at patchwalls or inside guncase displays i just think 'there is a guns worth of patches there.. ..' Agreed with moaning/not playing. But what i truly dont get is how people turn up to sites late or only start prepping when called out tp gamezone. These people fuck me off the most as i dont understand why you wouldnt get a whole days worth of shooting...1 point -
It would make sense to replace the older NGRS ARs with the new MOSFET and I totally get what you mean too haha. I already built my own NGRS mp5 before TM announced their own version which I've kept in the original A5 configuration with a magpul guard, Was actually easier to convert the TM version to a SD nothing is made of steel so easy to work with. Parts wise you need. SD front sight Guard and sleeve Suppressor I used ICS parts but they are discontinued so it was hard sourcing everything. Your'll need some 35mm steel bar and a lathe for the adapter I made. Also be confident with a Dremel and tap and dye set.1 point

Fps vs joules and the law
John_W reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
that was my point, fps on 0.2j is a joule measurement, just in confusing units that make it seem like it isn't. the reason it's taken so long is because there's not much agreement in chrono standards, for example hop on or off, player weight or site weight, quote limits in fps or j, and sites generally can't be bothered putting too much effort into it, much easier to just remember a number. i've lost count of the number of times i've had to explain that no, my gun is not shooting low, it's heavy ammo, especially when they've set the weight on the chrono and are reading the fps figure (which is always a raw figure of the velocity measurement) rather than the calculated joule figure.1 point -
The VAT registration threshold for EU business is £85,000. Below that and they don't have to register, once they do though, they'll have to do accounts for HMRC (as well as their own government) along with all the additional cost that entails. For someone like TG I can't see that the volume of sales is worth it. Gunfire will still ship to the UK because they know there's customers there but still insist on a minimum order of £135 because that's where the responsibility shifts from them to the customer. TG stopped shipping over to the UK because of UPS and the hassle that their utter clusterfuck of a service has caused them. GF just started using a different courier instead (GLS).1 point

Having been playing for over 20+yrs and owning an awful lot of different guns and platforms in that time , I will more than happily say bar a TM recoil the new DE mosfet guns(if all the same)are among the best performing guns I’ve ever owned , I picked up a 2nd hand 904G as a “it’s the end of the day and I’m bolloxed ! I need a lightweight gun !” Gun and first time I used it I ended up using it the entire day I think it’s THAT good ! 😱 so yea I’d say go for a totally different platform , and if not yet also change to mid caps from hi-caps so you need to do reloads in game to step up your game . 👍1 point
-
As the others members above have pointed out: 1. Your M904e is an excellent bit of kit that does all you ask of it. 2. Deep down, all airsoft guns are the same, they fling bb's, some marginally better than others but throwing cash at them doesn't always guarantee improvement. I agree you should have a backup gun, & yes it makes sense that it should have magazine compatibility with your 904, especially if your loadout limits the size of mags you can carry. the obvious plus to this is if one plays up mid game, it's a two minute job to leg it to the safezone to grab the spare, no fuss or time lost 😊. Your 904 is a stubby gun, why not consider one of the longer variants, 907h for example, set it up as a dmr, pretty it up with magnified sights etc, gives you another style of play on a platform that your familiar with, it's what I'd do, especially if my LCE restricted what mags I could carry. alternatively, if that's not the case, get what you like the look of (subject to positive reviews), me, I'm a sucker for the longer battle rifles, m14/G3/SLR, whatever floats your boat 🤔 PS @Rogerborg I'm nicking that picture, awesome, the truth will set them free lol 👍1 point
