Randymanpipe: Have played at UCAP GreenOps and Sandpit on the same team. A steady and dependable team mate, who will go forward hunting the opposition and get stuck into the fire-fight. An honest player who calls his hits and plays by the rules. Never hear him cheat calling. He will pull a team mate from line of fire to medic them back into game. Generous spirit, offered the use of his spare gun to keep me in the game when I experienced technical issues with mine. yes/no, ACOG was purchased as a UOR to replace the lifex SUSAT, there's no stores chain for them and whatever ones are left are 100% legacy items that will definitely be replaced by the new ELCAN in the next 12-18 months.1 point -
I've said it before and no doubt i'll say it again - many of the types of eyepro in common use on airsoft sites every weekend are inappropriate for the risk of BB's to the face, let alone MK5's, MK9's, TLSFX mortar rounds, or TAG rounds. It's only that full auto hits to the face a pretty rare that has saved us from a regular slew of superficial eye damage and, no doubt, the final blinding that sees insurance premiums go through the fucking roof. Is it really beyond the ken of the likes of UKARA, in conjunction with one or more major UK sports insurer, to commission a report on safety equipment in airsoft (and gonads knows they do bugger all else that is actually of any use to the sport or towards Reducing Violent Crime so maybe it's about time they took some of the fees sites and shops have to pay and did something sensible for a change)? Perhaps then, since TAG rounds are not fin stabilised A} we can stop bringing that old chestnut up, and B} since legitimate safety concerns about TAGs, which for some unknown reason always seem to be accompanied by said old chestnut, are often dismissed somewhat bluntly by people who are by now no doubt quite irritated by being asked to take a pointless game of conkers seriously, the subject can be addressed with an agenda of finding a set of standards for gear which sites can easily police, players can purchase without a mortgage, and in which insurers can be confident, rather than the all to common tendency of people to look at a problem for which they can see no easy solution and cry ban. The absolute last thing we need is any more legislation or any Govt. sponsored guidelines/clarification of existing legislation on what we can/can't throw/shoot at each other. Legislation creep is a real phenomenon. If you want MK5's and BFG's banned, ask a bunch of MP's to look into TAGs...1 point

ZOMBIE10, eh? Maybe down to the imminence of Series 6 of The Walking Dead on Fox - ooooh, I'm almost nauseous with anticipation and simultaneous fear that they will fuck it up at last - that now there will be so many opinions of how the story should continue that the producers will literally lose the plot in amongst trying to please too many people but also, because AMC will continue to court greater success, the opinions of those people whose main motivation for watching it is fear of being thought out of touch, ie those latecomers whose positivity underpins the budget and yet is most fickle, will end up being given far more weight than those fans who have watched it because, for the most part, the plot and production thereof have been a consistently high octane version of the raison d'etre of zombie films per se, ie a scathing satire of the society from which the main protagonists emerge and more fundamentally, consumerism. One thing we can know for sure about the fickle enthusiasm of those who base their viewing habits on which lifestyle commentators approve of what shows: they have most certainly bought into modern western society and, even if they don't know it, consumerism is their credo. AMC may very well feel the need for a 'Lost-ian'* plot device aimed at making sense to, and appeasing, middle-America... I fear that Gahd, and possibly Jeheezus, may yet rear their ugly heads as simultaneously the cause and salvation from the TWD apocalypse... And whilst I take the point that prima facie this may seem like another of my massively off topic rants, being as it is in a thread about current airsoft bargains, I ask you to consider how much a part of the wider airsoft community is being energised by Zombie Experience days/evenings/weekenders and how much of a nose dive said will take if AMC do manage to fuck up TWD; how much more favourably AMC are likely to be looking on the lowest common denominator of viewers, given that they now have their new global channel to which they must needs garner viewers and, perhaps more importantly, advertisers; and speculate with me, if ye will, how much these converging factors have already/may yet affect the price of cheap pistols and shotguns... how much is an ASG MK23 these days? £25 from TWG innit? *By all means, go right ahead! Just my take..... If you can go for metal ICS rather than plastic receiver I'm only going by a 42w sportsline vs Combat Machine (other plastic ICS "might" be better but this is just a comparison of 42w v CM) The ICS Sport Line range seems to be the harder plastic that might be more prone to breaking in colder weather G&G CM's use a slightly flexible polymer receiver that imho might - I say might not be so brittle in very cold weather not gonna clobber tress on purpose for shatter test though but think it might be a little more sturdier than other hard plastic receivers Other than that I was very impressed with my ICS 42W rating the starter £150 guns a very close second to CM's CM's have a better range of M4 styles/ris etc.... I'm not so convinced with G&G's £200-£300 range most with gimmicky blow-back crap So I still rate CM Starter's up to £150 ish or a little more for new SR range When you get to £200+ well it is a whole new ball game as numerous others come into the equation Both of these companies are well respected and pi$$ all over another Taiwan aeg - SRC (SRC starters are $hit in comparison to the above mofo's)1 point -

Well here goes. Colonel Kurtz Hes a player I have played against and on the same side a few times. Hes a sneaky sod who likes to flank the enemy and generally get into places you least expect someone to be. Hes also a good attacking player who you can rely on to storm an area with you. Never seen an issue with hit taking and I have shot him a few times. Generally a well mannered relaxed player. Hes a good player to have on your side as he goes for the objectives and doesnt just camp around for kills (you get a lot of that at the mall). Hes a lot quieter in person than he seems on here. Comes across quite reserved but definitely doesn't play that way. All in all a decent player, cant really say a bad word about him, except maybe he shot me in the finger from about 2ft away a few weeks back and it was the one that had only just stopped hurting from when I fractured it playing in June. B@stard! Someone elses turn to spill the beans on other forum members now. Lets hear what they are really like.1 point -

Indeed not, that'd be manufacturing a RIF which is illegal unless you have a valid defence. On a completely unrelated topic, intending to use a RIF for airsoft is a valid defence and UKARA is only a way for retailers to verify this intent from the general public1 point -

The tan is pretty cool against the OD too. Not sure if any companies are doing a repro of the new LLMs yet. I'm finishing up my M870 build which has been nothing but a pain. Still the cylinder to troubleshoot and lots of external bits like the sling mount and sling in the post, but had it mostly assembled anyway so put it together: Happy with the results so far.1 point

100% Knickers in a twist going on here. People have been launching TLSFX 2-stage mortar pyro (effectively a Mk9 bang used to fling an Mk7 out of a tube) for years, I've seen them used in an M320 to take out rooms full of people from pretty impressive distances. This is absolutely no different in terms of technicality, except that the tag rounds aren't a 100g lump of flaming cardboard coming at you! As for 'high energy projectile'.... get a grip, it's 24J because of it's mass and velocity at launch; the actual impact energy would be considerably less at even 10' away and the material they're made of is so insubstantial they're less likely to hurt you than a snowball. A squash ball is genuinely more dangerous, everyone ban squash courts, the daily mail will go nuts!!!!1 point -

I think this is the first time I've been back on the forums in literally months. =[ I've more or less dropped the hobby whilst I sort my finances out, sort a car out, and sort out a house. It's a 3 year plan but hopefully it won't take that long. Despite not playing for months, I am still buying stuff though, because y'know, nothing slows down your life plan like spending the money you're meant to be saving on new shiny gun stuff... Most recent purchase is an Elcan Spectre DR and a 20mm conversion mount for my L85. I must admit, I always thought I preferred the ACOG on L85s because it takes a funky canilever mount to get it on there, but the Spectre is definitely growing on me. Mainly because, in the airsoft world at least, they're just infinitely better optics. This thing trumps my ACOG on literally every front apart from maybe size (because it's massive) and weight (because it might as well be a brick). Better glass quality making the clarity much more crisp, no more foggy view as per my ACOG. The reticle is beautifully clear, not lop sided, and doesn't blur against the target. It's also illumated with 12 levels of brightness across two colours, and the eye relief is fantastic - no more ramming my eyeball into the rear lens to see anything. It also has the bonus feature, well sort of, that if you configure the red dot on top to zero to the main optic, then every time you rezero the main optic, you simultaneously zero the red dot as well. Due to it being slaved to it; when you adjust the main sight, it's the sight that moves on its mount, rather than the internals of the sight moving within the body, and since the red dot just sits on top, if you move the main optic, you're also moving the red dot, so they stay zeroed to the same point. Win win. Though I have yet to field it, so that may mean knocking it causes it to lose zero... In which case I'll be very annoyed and counting that as more of a fail than a win, but for now it seems a handy feature. Certainly makes it easier to switch between multiple rifles as the time spent reconfiguring will be halved. But anyway, pictures:1 point -
Actually - yes. Let's say you fire a pyro at someone from a launcher. You hit someone a reasonable distance away and it goes off with the force of a MK5. You then throw an actual MK5 at someone again at a sensible distance and it just happens to go off when it reaches them. They both have the same explosive force and are both in a similar proximity to the target. So tell me - what is the difference in terms of risk of personal injury?1 point
