pulling the reply to pieces: So it was feeding/working when he received it So now the motor spins but no firing action - hmmm gears mashed up or likely piston's pick up tooth snapped off but this happened AT THE SHOP or with the TECH GUY "testing it" OK - it might have not liked some mags - but that isn't uncommon it did feed with other mags he bought from your recommendation - 20 mins maybe is a bit weird & short lived ???? but did feed it clearly states in black n white Secondly the gun was still cycling at the shop but then stopped a few shots later ??? I'm wondering was the guy going nutz on 11.1v 35c lipo with a higher speed motor or something Gun went tits up - but was working at first...... Furthermore the motor problem height: & OK a minor tweak on motor height maybe perhaps from transit - but it is all starting to add up to there is more to this than he the buyer is letting on imho Have read this over at Zero In Forum and they are all singing from the same page too 7 weeks wait and it don't sound 101% correct 2 lots of forums saying the same stuff - gotta love this quote from Z1 tackle though: Yes you could tell him where to go, or maybe offer a few spares n stuff you might have to hand but first off the buyer needs to be a little more honest perhaps or accept too much time may have passed and therefore $hit happens with anything second hand hope you get it resolved reasonably ok without the stone cold harshness of F*CK OFF3 points -

Maybe I have been lucky but in two years I have only once booked and been told it was full and the website was wrong. I have booked in the day before quite a few times, if there is a problem they will let you know anyway the same as when they confirm the booking. The torch is basically a necessity. Games are won or lost by getting or not getting the objectives nothing to do with peacocks unless the objective is in there. Basements can bottleneck sometimes but there is usually a way round and you can push through any choke point if you try. Dont camp on the concourse like some of the highcap heroes or on the balcony. There is opportunities to move around everywhere just explore. Main thing is have fun, play the objectives dont get trapped into pointless standoffs. And dont fall down the stairs it hurts.2 points -

Try being 5ft 5... To be honest any sniper rifle will be fine - my svd is almost as big as me yet I've had no issues using it. But like Monty said - a vsr is a very light rifle once you've removed all of the weights from the stock.2 points -
I've been having a good look at different sites to find the best and I think it will have to be the Bolle. I can eventually get prescription inserts made which I'd prefer. Unfortunately I can't wear contacts anymore as I have a very complicated prescription and contacts no longer give me good enough vision. Also laser treatment won't correct my sight either so I am stuck with specs. Thanks for the advice guys.1 point

Welcome to the forums, I can't really vouch for glasses as I don't wear them but the above suggestions look like a good shout. I do know some people just end up wearing contacts as they have major fogging issues but this is something that varies massively per person. The good thing with the full mesh masks that always remind me of fencing masks is they aren't too expensive so it's not the end of the world if you don't get on with them. Also they mean BBs can't sneak in between your glasses/goggles and lower mesh mask which is something that has happened to me a few times - You get hit in the upper cheek or nose possibly.1 point

L96 and SVD are huge. If you want a short, but awesome one, get a VSR g-spec and remove the suppressor.1 point
-
Well L96s are ok - not as good as Marui's VSRs but they're about half the price. Once upgraded though (like you should be) they perform similarly. The primary disadvantage is the position of the hop unit, which is further forward than in the VSR resulting in a shorter internal barrel length for the same overall gun length. If you're worried about barrel length then the VSR is the way to go as you get more in a shorter space. The G-Spec has quite a short barrel externally, but internally it's about the same as a full length L96.1 point

Just get a very good quality sling on it - weighs a fair bit. I use a surplus AK sling for mine.1 point

That's a really good price on the Baofeng, they are worth the money at around £25 you normally see them going for.1 point

I wouldn't have bothered, but the Bolsheviki have decided they're the way to go and at these prices it seemed churlish to miss out.1 point -
Confused about what the other guy said, why would he need to go to a skirmish site to test the gun - the only thing you can't test in an ordinary room is how effective the hop up is, and anyone buying an airsoft gun should have the basic knowledge that the hopup/bucking/barrel are conveniently isolated from the complicated parts. It's rather naive to not test a product because of ignorance - ignorance of the fact that you don't need to be at a skirmish site to fire the gun - or even outdoors. The buyer went to a game day - gun stop working after 20 mins, went to another game day (thinking it would magically fix it self if left unused in between?) then decided to return it? Could have some sympathy if the guy is genuine, but he should have got back in touch as soon as the problem was detected, not after he tried to fix it - and then took it to two "professionals". On the basis that he put it in a techs hands I would decline to take it back, you've no idea what a "professional" might have done, let alone the owner. As for negative feedback, can you reply, if so, I think that the buyer did not test the gun until a skirmish says it all really, you've no idea what he did with it until then, you've no idea if it broke in shipping.1 point

Upshot of my discussions with the technicians, glass tubing comes in a variety of sizes but there are a few different types of glass and getting the right one is important, it seemed one is better with heat, one is better for impact and they didn't know which was which. They are sold with internal diameters but they tend to be dead on the mm, so 6mm or 7mm would be available. I guess with a set of digital callipers you might be able to pick one out of a batch that would work but there would be no guarantees that the diameter would stay consistent all the way through. The final issue would be cutting the hop window, with a diamond dremmel wheel might be a good idea but you could end up shattering the tube.1 point

UCAP GreenOps - has anyone been?
Randymanpipe reacted to Jedi_Master for a topic
I went to UCAP GreenOps and had a good day. It was my first time there and luckily I had Randymanpipe to show me around and give me advice on the site and different games played. The site was easy enough to find and the forest track leading to it was not too rough or full of potholes. Adequate parking but getting there early allows the best spots closest to the safe zone and exit. The safe zone is a basic wooden structure, bit gloomy but offers plenty of surface area to get kitted up and leave bags. No seating though so standing only. There was a very limited range of drink and snacks but I had my own pack lunch and Camelbak so no issue. However, the marshals had forgotten to bring any pyro for sale which was a pity as it would have been very useful. There were four marshals (Simon, Adam, Ivor and ?) on the day, all were friendly and helpful. The chronograph test was strict, no one allowed over the 350fps limit, which considering the CQB nature of the woodland was a good thing. One lad was firing hot, about 10-15 fps over and given time to put a few mags through his gun and several re-tests on chrono, before being told he could not use it. The one sniper had MED of 30m. There are metal targets on trees at different distances outside the safe zone to test fire on and adjust hop-up, etc. This was my first experience of playing outdoors and in daylight. The site is sandy so does drain well but many of the main tracks did have deep puddles which made movement a bit harder and slowed down advances as you needed to go around them. The Rhododendron bushes were thick and even some of the tracks cut through them were difficult and slow going. They offered some excellent cover which made it hard to see where incoming shots were coming from and then stopped BBs reaching the hidden player within it. The rhododendron also stopped the BBs going far, so had to move close to the opposition team to hit them. The CQB environment of the woods added to the tension as you probed forward. Even playing on a cool summer day I was sweating buckets in my DPM combats, as I kept my jacket on for the camouflage. The breaks back at the safe zone were welcome to rehydrate and bomb up magazines. I did find both sets of my eyepro, ESS v12 and Bolle X1000, constantly steaming up and reducing my vision. Now I need to get some more (non-mesh) eyepro. Walk-on players just needed to turn up on the day. There were only about 25 players in total so two small teams with plenty of room to manoeuvre, and by the last game of the day it was just 9 per side. The 14 acre site felt large enough but not too big that you get totally lost, and by the end of the day I had a good idea where things were. Of the scenarios we played, first was a timed attack/defence of the FOB with the defenders only having one life and attackers as many re-spawns as they needed. We then had a capture the 2 flags game, which is where you appreciate how much cover there is and how difficult it is to see other players or move through the foliage off track. My favourite game was the 'hold the button' situated on a Land Rover bonnet where the first team to hold the button down for a total of 5 minutes wins. Easier said than done when both teams more exposed and close, with battles to gain advantage of cover (bunker, Pig, aircraft fuselage, bridge, caravan). This was played twice allowing teams a chance to play from both ends as different tactics were needed to seize the ground. Finished the day with attack/defend of downed aircraft (there are parts of an aircraft scattered across one corner of the site), with the attackers trying to place a bomb in main aircraft wreck. Would I go again, definitely, it is a challenging site and fun. Next time I would want to take a magnified scope in order to spot the other team (and see if they were taking hits) as well as some pyro to attempt to blast out some well dug in players.1 point -

BBrotherwood reacted to Russe11 for a topic
The most likely problem is Kharma caused by the fact that you are telling everyone you have an SLR If you take the motor out does it spin freely when you pull the trigger? If yes then the problem is likely to be in the gearbox. Look at youtube vids of people dismantling gearboxes and decide whether it is something you can do.1 point -
how heavy is your gun?
Raggedy_man reacted to proffrink for a topic
Well they're around 5.8kg unmodified - then I've got the longer barrel Mk1 variant with the metal stock, rails, foregrip, PEQ, a 2.5k magazine (with .30s, so 750g by itself) and a Daytona Gun 'big-ass lump of metal' kit in there. Manageable as it's not that suited to run and gun anyway, heh.1 point -
