Depends what you mean by 'weathered'. Kind of tricky with a G36, since they tend to be used a lot by police and such, so they're not in the field for long and will look fairly pristine because of that. Having said that, the ones which do take a real battering, are the Kampfschwimmer ones (German Navy special forces divers). Those guys are trained to approach targets underwater, and come out of the sea firing their G36s and P8s, so their weapons certainly get exposed to a bit of wear and tear. The polymer furniture on them will of course not show much signs of wear, but what does show signs of wear is the three-tone camo which many of their G36s sport, so you could paint three tone camo and then buff it off the edges with a dremel or some such, however, there's something you could do which might be more fun that that. Take a look at this picture: http://i.imgur.com/NreBfD4.jpg You can see on that pic that the paint/bluing on the edges of the metal parts is very worn and showing the bare metal, i.e. the cocking handle, the RIS mount (particularly at the front), the flash hider, the fire selector, the body pins etc. Now, the problem you have, is that a lot of that stuff on an airsoft G36, is not metal, but ABS plastic, but you can still make it look like worn metal by using dry-brushing. If you've never done that, here's what that technique looks like: That is my plastic UHC AKS74U, which I have dry-brushed so it looks like worn metal. So, how do we do that? Right, what you want is some of this, which any decent craft or hobby shop will sell: http://modelshop.co.uk/Shop/Item/Humbrol-metalcote-polished-aluminium/ITM3289 So, then what you do is, get a very soft artist's paintbrush (don't use a sh*t cheap one), shake the paint tin and then stir it with a match or cocktail stick so that the metal flakes are suspended in the paint, then dip the brush in the paint, then take a piece of kitchen roll and clean off the paint from the bristles until there is barely any left coming off the brush onto the paper towel. When it is like that, you are ready to use it - Lightly flick the brush over the edges and raised parts of your gun where you want it to look like paint or bluing has worn off. The almost dry brush should only deposit small amounts of paint on raised edges, and it will look like worn metal if you do it right. Don't overdo it, subtlety is the key here, and remember that much of the real G36 is not metal, so you might need to put masking tape on the bits you don't want the paint to go on (crappy 'pound shops' will sell masking tape). If you need to mask around intricate parts, Blu-Tack is good for that, because you can mold it around things. Now, leave it to dry for a couple of hours, then you need some aerosol matt varnish (you can get that from most 'pound shops' too). Spray that very lightly (and I mean VERY lightly) over your bry-brushed bits, and it will prevent it from rubbing off. Be careful though, the wet varnish will tend to wet the metal paint and spread it out, which is not what you want, so if you don't work slowly with the varnish, it will ruin the effect, so, the idea is to do ONE very light quick pass with the varnish, then let that dry, then do another light quick pass, and so on. You need to work slow with the varnish, and let each pass dry before you go again, or it will ruin the effect. Patience is the key word here.

  3. Hi all! I've had a busy year this year. I bought my first house in May. Moving from a flat to a house my natural thought was 'more storage for airsoft stuff!'. As it was the spare bedroom was my dumping ground for my crap. The back garden was a mess so Ive cleaned it up, threw a decking down and I'm in the process of creating a man cave! From this; To this!; I've sorted the inside out by sectioning off an area for garden tools and the rest for airsoft stuff! I've only just started with the inside of the cupboard. I'm wondering if anyone else has a similar set up, and if so what does it look like?

  6. Thanks man! Took me ages. Not sure if you noticed but the walls are all old pallets. Took me ages stripping them apart. I'm getting a kitchen counter top at the end of the month to make a desk between the two cupboards so I can strip my gun and leave it knowing bits won't wander off

Sorry about the slight derail, but it's probably an XM177 in the original picture. Issued 1966-7 so the timescales fit. Looks like a 30-round mag in the '16 too, which is unusual. The gun geek in me WILL break out every now and again

    Airsoft storage!

Overall it's only really cost me about £250, Excluding the cost of the decking. My dad got me the shed for xmas which was about £600, I put £100 towards that. £80 for insulation Plastic membrane was free from work Pallets were free from work £45 for 1"x1" planks £20 for sockets Wiring, comsumer unit, MCBs, light switch all came from work. I should have a nice little workshop out there once it's finished. Can't wait, I've put actual airsofting on hold for the last 3 months whilst this project is going on. Thanks for the kind words!

    Dipping or painting?

Painting is a crapload easier and cheaper. Anything fancy and super-detailed would be lost on a sniper rifle, since you need camo that works at long range, so just a couple of colours to break up any obvious silhouette will be more than adequate, espesially since it will likely be covered in bits of hessian and wotnot too. If you do want something a little different however, which looks good and can be easily sprayed, try getting some OD and some light green or tan. Spray it with one colour and then use a fern leaf held just above the surface as a stencil mask and spray past it. It gives a very nice foliage effect, which is also very visually disruptive.

  16. Damn. That's my local site. Shop had just been remodeled too with a different counter and such. Will keep an eye out for local sales of stuff since it is near me. Also shared it with my friends list on Facebook, most of whom are in Stockport, so plenty of eyes on the lookout in the town where the robbery took place.

    Best bbs?

Blasters are good, Devil Blasters are better (in my experience at least). Bulldog BBs are the work of the devil. LiPo batteries should be kept with at least a minimum charge so yes, long term storage they shouldn't be flat. Discharging a LiPo below its minimum can damage it.

I personally do my paintjobs in a more 'organic' way than that; I paint it so it's pristine and perfect, then I use it and the wear happens naturally! Don't go heavy with the paint, a light dusting is better than a heavy coat as it'll bond with the flat areas just as well as a heavy coat but it'll chip away easier on the rails/grip/magwell/etc.

You know what, I just realised he was mixing his names up there. I read PSP and assumed he meant the old handheld. If he means PS Vita (there's no such thing as the PSP Vita) then yes it is a powerful piece of kit (allegedly as powerful as a PS3). That doesn't however change the fact that Battlefront won't be ported for it.

  20. Yeah I realise that but £243 was enough to spend in one go this pay day haha. Plus the spare is a 40 round mag - most of my local CQB sites are semi auto only so full auto fun will be just for outdoors Going to be investing in green gas though because there's no way it's not coming with me to every skirmish I go to haha

  21. You'll need more than 1 spare mag for CQB main weapon use - the ROF is 'kin ridic, mate! I agonised over whether to go for it meself, as a self-birthday-pres, but in the end I decided that as proper cool as it would be to totally hose people with the merest trigger dab, practically it makes no sense. Good luck though! For me: 3m of OD 20mm velcro for a fiver posted (fleabay) - for that price i thought i may as well get all 3m she had since it's not always available and i need a bunch of it to sort out the Russian 6B5 body armour carrier I just received, which is in very used condition (for which read 'fucked') - it's going to be a labour of love to restore it... hey ho, it was cheap @£39.22 posted Russian Blood Group Patch - $13.00 posted ~ fleabay

^ +1 with dex Use the cheap stuff for honing your skills and target practice at different distances in the back garden, tell your mate to save up for a decent rifle and pistol (i will always recommend G&G) and just use a rental until he's ukara registered, in the meantime he can use any other kit he has (jacket, trousers etc) if he has any AND above all...... go out, have fun and enjoy himself

  26. Now that I spent long hours trying to solve the problem, I realised I'll need to buy new piston and bushes anyway, because they are made of plastic and are damaged. If inserting these parts (which is needed anyway) won't help, I'm pretty sure it's the fault of the motor, because the wires and other parts seem to be fine. And also it's my personal perversion to repair this myself But your advice is of course the most logical step and you're right.

I also came home with a pair of Rothco Black duty gloves and a German flektarn sniper type cap. As well as a pair of binoculars which will be packed with my sniper loadout A pic of her with her new family.

KSC/KWA vz61 Skorpion - GBB Spare magazine for above gun = £243~ from Airsoftzone with postage Finally able to get one after a bit of time saving up for it - shot one before and it was a lot of fun. Going to use it as a sniper backup and as my main CQB weapon (slowly filtering out AEGs from my collection). Also looks/sounds absolutely awesome and ties in well with my eastern bloc kit.

I custom made it by cutting the end off one, and the top of another, welding the two together, stretching the follower spring, sanding the weld, then repainting. Worked amazing well and gave me the ability to A: put more gas in and B: load 39 bb's in.

  40. So your proving my point? I said big established sites don't even always get that many... Yes but that's 1 established well known site. Sites such as the mall and similar or very popular but outside of those select few numbers are more often than not significantly lower. Getting 100 players isn't something a potential site could use a business as its not the norm. Saying 100 players for a new site is a solid number couldn't be further from the truth without a ridiculous amount of advertising.
    1 point
  41. Not really guesstimations... The numbers of players are solid. What they pay is established. The number of games per month is genuine. The sale os BB's and gas, thats based on the number of cases sold and their cost prices against sale price. And the 37k for premices was based on a quick search of viable warehouses. Granted, finding one would be a chore, but there are plenty of them about that would be within that price range (including rates, etc) and suitable in my local area... obviously adjusted for location... But still. And the 30k... I wouldnt want to earn much less than that for owning and running a business. The numbers are... More or less... Solid. At least for the purposes of a forum, and offhand comment

Just sorted out my (partially) homemade eotech lens protector, removed the mesh from a Chinese made guard, got some cheapo 1mm lexan polycarb sheet which I cut to rough shape with scissors and then finished off with a dremmel. Fits perfectly and I can actually see through it quite well now. Also remade my sling adapter for my F2000, main part of the strap was taken from a laptop bag.

    What to buy next?

Sounds to me like people need to stop telling the guy that everything he's already bought is wrong and that he has to go spend money on slightly different versions of stuff he's already got. I see this time and again here and elsewhere. Someone says they already bought a vest and a primary with hi-caps so what does everyone say he needs next? A different load carrying system and mid caps. FFS.
