Tigerstripe was developed for rainforest use in South Vietnam during the war- Vietnamese rain forests have a lot of plant foliage which is not vertical, like this: The lack of vertical trees means the Tigerstripe pattern is more effective in this environment, and the blacks, greens and browns of the tigerstripe pattern fit in with irregular shadow created by plants, the different hues of green in different plant species and the mud of the rainforest floor.4 points -

If you don't wire a mosfet into the trigger contacts you get almost no benefit from it. If you want to use 11.1 lipo then you need to do this otherwise you will burn out the contacts. This is the whole point a a fet.2 points -

Fair play to them - I really like seeing tigerstripe in any form. Everyone rolls up in MTP/DPM/Multicam where I play I've got a set of All Terrain Tiger (above) but the pants feel really thick and I don't think they'd make for a good day's skirmishing.1 point

You are on about the Airsoft Systems Smart Control mosfett yes? Way overpriced personally, the gate version does a bit more and is only £50 and I'm sure I have seen the Taiwanese company's selling programable digital mosfett for £35. Does it replace the entire trigger mech and gives you a trigger switch? The fire support site has a horrendous listing.1 point -

I buy my BBs from Patrol Base as well. If you want to get anything from TaiwanGun, their P&J / TaiwanGun BBs are very cheap but actually are good quality. IIRC, they're just a little bit worse than King Arms ones. If you spend over £55 it's worth getting some, otherwise you pay £11 shipping.1 point -
knuckle up mofos - my loadout
Lozart reacted to Black Death for a topic
Mmmmmm more oakley goodness.... Being that it's my birthday on Weds, my mrs obviously had to get me something airsoft related. She knows I've been after a set of oakley gascans Ducati limited editions since forever but have never bought them due to the rediculous price tag £300 second hand and up to £500 new when standard edition are only £120). I already have a set of polished black gascans but I bought them on holiday in America when my mrs was pregnant with my first born so I don't want to airsoft them and rough them up. My mrs got very lucky on a pair belonging to an absolute oakley whore who had them tucked away in his collection but now wanted rid so they are literally as new as it gets. Gascans are not really sports frames as such (in the same way as say the jawbone frames are) but they do share some sports features like being curved/wrapped, tight to head and of course ballistic/shatterproof to a higher standard than the usual airsoft goggles. I prefer these to the more sportier range as they have that more professional look which oddly I'm trying to avoid. Given the chance between looking like a tour de france cyclist and arnie as the terminator I choose arnie lol. Might sound odd but I'm trying NOT to look 'operator'. Those who know me or skirmish with me will immediately notice the frames are black and red (Ducati motorbike race red) which is a theme throughy entire loadout. These frames actually complete the loadout now so when I get a chance I will get a few pics up or even a short vid if poss. With guns and gear out the way, until the new TM BREACHER arrives I will focus on getting a decent holdall to transport all my gear (most probably the OAKLEY HOT TUB bag)1 point -

VFC SCAR vs. TM SCAR.
Black Death reacted to Unrustle_Thine_Jimmies for a topic
Materials- Both are made out of a mix of Zamak/Aluminium & Plastic, next to no difference in material usage. TM's plastics, especially the ones used in the recoils feels much better than VFC however. Otherwise both are equal footing material and build quality wise. TM has a better looking finish IMO but that's down to preference. Performance- Have to hand it to TM. VFC gearboxes have overall left me unimpressed, especially for the money you are paying. The overall parts quality was pretty bad,the pistons, tappet plates and other plastic parts are made with the shittiest clear plastic VFC could find, the pistons grenade themselves even on Irish legal 1 Joule spring in my experiences. Gearsets are standard sintered stuff you find in most guns and are usable, but have 'self shimming' axles which to be honest, are horrible for long term. It seems the self shimming stuff degrades over time and becomes a screechfest Air seal parts are decent and usable. Gearbox shells are not the strongest but usable. Hop up units are where VFC fall even more,Again, for a high end gun the hop up units are generally bad performing. A cheap CYMA will outperform a VFC with stock hop up. Again,VFC's internals are not necessarily bad quality overall, but bad quality for the price you are paying. TM,although not the best stuff around still win out over VFC. Gears are twice as thick as VFC's. Bevel and Spur are made of Sintered carbon steel according to one Italian review site, the sector is made out of zinc. The zinc sector is there so the japanese government is happy that people cannot upgrade over 1J. The piston is perfectly fine, very strong actually. It should not break unless you are using very powerful springs or really cock up angle of engagement. Remember,in addition to a spring it's also pulling back a 250g recoil weight and spring. The other gears are perfectly usable, when upgrading you can replace the sector only and still have decent meshing, but stock it should be reliable as the gears are twice as thick as standard. Air seal parts are perfectly fine, quite good actually. Piston heads are not ported but still seal well. Hop up units, especially on the recoil are bloody fantastic,it's agreed by a fair amount of techs that TM did a good job on this. Price wise- It depends. TM recoil scars are heavily marked up outside of Japan,in Japan they cost 420$ which is 250 pounds, but be prepared to pay 400 pounds because of the VATman, retailer markup and various things. Overall,i'd say it's worth it. Better internals in some areas, better performance overall, and you get recoil and bolt lock, which makes the gun miles more fun to shoot.1 point -

I have the TM. SCAR-l and it's great. 1. Materials - hard to beat the quality of the TM. Recoils. Solid plastics and full metal upper. 2. Performance - don't worry abit the lower FPS. leave it standard as it will out perform and out range most other AEGs. 3. Extra ££ - is it worth it....... HELL YES!! Recoil, bolt lock it's TM. I have never had a VFC SCAR but I had a BFC SR-16 (M4) and love it. Great quality rifles but the TM is just better in almost every way.1 point

SRC MP5A4 internal upgrades help
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Samurai for a topic
A good cleaning, a new hopup rubber and a new O ring for the piston. Check the gears and the piston for obvious wear. Get new ones only if needed. Check the nozzle if it can wobble on the piston head, get new one if it does. Get SRC parts if you can. If it still doesn't do the 330 fps at least, get a new spring too.1 point -

If you want a true military day at the range pick the wettest day of the year, get up at 6 stand in the rain for an hour waiting for someone with a key, pick up your rifle then cram yourself and 16 other blokes into a minibus and spend an hour driving to the middle of nowhere. Now for the real fun, make sure the range has a shelter that can either fit 4 blokes in or was constructed during the reign of Henry VIII so it leaks like a fucked fridge so either way your getting wet! Spend 45 minutes zeroing your rifle, make sure you put it on top of your daysack so you know it's yours and treat yourself to a nap. Wake up to the unit mong asking "Is this your rifle mate?" Don't worry it is and you get to spend another hour re zeroing it! Dinner time , get your self a soggy sandwich with one slice of ham/horse/donkey and a sausage roll 1% meat and the rest sawdust disguised as pastry Do one shoot before the range staff get bored and woooo you've all passed! Spend 30 minutes picking up brass and get back on the minibus. You think your days over ? Nope spend an hour cleaning your rifle with half of your cleaning kit missing/borrowed/not getting it back. I'm not bitter , honest1 point

are bbs meant to have holes in them
cropzy reacted to Sitting Duck for a topic
Normally cheap nasty 0.12g's have a very visable join in them making them untrue spheres this can jam guns especially decent guns with a decent tight-ish barrel use crap bb's and they can jam on even non-tight barrels these bb's are for spring pinkers with massive crappy bore barrels The bubbles - I think it must be a bad batch or bad supplier people may have bought from Saw the Bull$hit post with bubbles and not seen bubbles myself in my tubs of white & black so maybe Bull$hit stopped buying them from a supplier and sourced elsewhere There was a recent version or gen 3 lot of bb's they were starting to sell around Easter so maybe BullDog moved onto another supplier ???? And maybe another company or two bought from the Aero BB supplier if they kind of work then carry on with caution but if you get lots of jimmy's - dribbling out or more than just the odd jam then STOP USING THESE COZ THEY WILL MESS UP YOUR GUN1 point -
Try patrol base, they have a wide variety of bb's to choose from.1 point

You have to remember that in the UK not everyone is exposed to firearms and the correct shooting techniques lessons and disciplines. They see see what they see on TV and COD. Some of us rural inbreeds grew up around weaponry, but for some city folk, airsoft is the first time they have ever been able to hold anything other than a waterpistol.1 point -

First sniper rifle, What do you think of this? And any hints :)
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to THE FNG for a topic
One thing you may notice is that the charging handle is very tough to pull. It's not the strength of actually pulling it; it's the wear on your pulling finger as it digs in. I got the extension for it and it really makes the difference. I can't comment on the out of the box performance as mine came with a damaged cylinder head so by the time I first skirmished it properly, it had a new spring, barrel, cylinder head, piston, trigger sears and hop unit! It's also a BIG gun. Mines huge....so to speak. I've got a suppressor on mine and when stood with the stock on the floor, it comes up to my chin! What I would recommend though, are optic rails from Kalinka Optics if you are not going for the POSP-1 scope. I use this: http://kalinkaoptics.com/mounts/svd-psl-tigr-romak-3/original-bp-02-svd-psl-tigr-low-profile-centered-side-mount-to-weaver-rail.html The universal mount that a lot of people put on is too high, so some scopes won't zero in properly as they won't look low enough. It can also give a strange visual effect from parallax which makes it look like the bb is bending into it's target when it is in fact going perfectly straight. Before suppressor mod: After, next to my SCAR and UMP. http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/3820-gun-picture-thread/page-110#entry143368 (cant find the original picture). One good thing; it takes AEG parts. It is very easy to install parts. I would recommend the spring SVD. It certainly turns heads...and with the suppressor on it is so quiet. List of upgrades: AirsoftPro.cz Upgraded trigger sears AirsoftPro.cz Upgraded hop unit AirsoftPro.cz Upgraded outer/inner barrel holding unit M140 spring AirsoftPro.cz Reinforced piston AirsoftPro.cz Reinforced cylinder head Madbull 6.03 650mm tightbore barrel Forgotten brand red hop rubber AirsoftPro Suppressor adapter (nicely cushions the end of the tight bore barrel) Kalinka optic mount Black handguard/grip furniture (previously 2-tone) AirsoftPro.cz Charging handle extension Soon to be getting a prometheus hop rubber as my other hard rubber shredded during a strip down :/1 point -

For food on 27hr games I prefer an old fashioned Ukrainian method- Get some thin Myslivska sausages, throw them on a plate, douse them lightly with horilka(aka vodka to you western pigs) and spark it up with either some flint or a lighter-wait a few minutes and you have some nice fried sausages. If you have a metal tripod or something you can keep the fire going and maybe heat up something else you like. I use an old steel plate so after I take the sausages I quickly throw in some dried wood and brew up some tea. Serve with Rye bread, butter and Preserved vegetable salad from a can or some saurkraut even. I sometimes bring along some premade buckwheat porridge that I fire in a can before the game too. I might heat it up like the tea. For sweets, nature valley bars, some fruit and those Ukrainian made 'Milk chews' you find in a lot of newsagents-Addictive as fuck they are. feast of champions there m8.1 point -
