  1. What?! no, don't be retarded. No one is saying that shooting someone at point blank with a 500fps gun is a good idea, the MED is there for a reason but to suggest that snipers can 'bang' kill people inside their 30m MED is outrageous. If that were a rule I'd buy a sniper rifle tomorrow and never fire a shot because I wouldn't ever have to aim again; I could just run about shouting bang and people would be dead. If you have a sniper rifle that has a mandatory MED then its USELESS even as a prop inside of that MED, get another gun or go for the contact-kill. As for someone putting the muzzle of a loaded 500fps gun anywhere near my face (e.g. on my shoulder)... I dare you, I double dare you to try that. It'll end up with that 500fps gun in 2 bits over my knee and some tiny tears from the pleb who thought it was a good idea.

    My First Game

So I rolled up to the location. It was a generally large multi-activity site, And it was rather complex. We walk up to a building, enquire about the airsoft before being ushered into a dark tent next door. Friendly place. Nice guy doing the ref-stuff. First thing that hits me is many CM16 carbines all lined neatly in a row with a bag of 2000 Bio-BBs next to them. Me, Jacob and George (Friends) sort out the payments, Get informed of site rules (No anomalies, Standard rules) Oddly, 90% were common-sense based. Odd. We get suited & booted, No expense spared really, I was genuinly impressed when you have access to unlimited bottles of water (Not the cheap stuff, either) for no extra cost. We stroll out of the tent, After being initiated, I became friends with a boy known as Chandler. Top Lad, Site regular, Became my 'Partner' for the night. Oddly enough, We walk past a camp site full of 7-10 year olds, Rather alarming considering we all had RIFs and camo getabouts. We enter the site, People take it in turns to test their gun. I place in my mag. Roll the wheel on the bottom, Flick of the safety and fire 3 shots down a long grass pathway. It is unbelievably satisfying. I'd waited years for this. It was 100% worth it. We roll up to these tents and are assigned teams for the game. Attackers and Defenders, Defenders had to protect their medic in a small huddle of tents. To get medic'd you'd have to run into an empty tent and wait for the medic to cross, Hence adding a sense of risk for the medic. It was a no-win game for the defenders, The Medic would die and it was a waiting game to find out when. Me, Chandler and a guy in a blue hoodie roll into one tent with two windows. I take right side, Watching across to the left flank, Chandler doing the opposite. Blue hoodie man is ducking in and out of a gap in the right edge, Considerably effective. I had 3 deaths, And 'kills' that round. The reason I'm so vague is that I never saw people throw their hand up and go 'HIT' but I saw BBs flying at a deadly rate towards people, and after I'd get enemies patting me on the back saying 'Nice shots man' etc. Second game I despised, Purely because it didn't fit my playstyle. It was in an open field with a 'fort' of tyres in the middle. inside there were plastic cannisters painted gold, these were ingeniusly reffered to as 'Golds' The team who got in and collected the most at the end of the game won. You could only pick up one at a time mind you. First game was shambolic. I get shot down, only just get 1 gold and thats it, opposition win. Next game, Me and chandler leave our guns at respawn and sprint to get golds. I take most of the shots, Allowing him to swoop in and grab one for the team. I walk back to respawn and grab my gun. Queue ten minutes of being hit and 0 kills before them losing on the basis that they didn't put the golds in the right place, So ref declares us winners by default. The next game was AMAZING... We had to push up through dense woodland to capture and control a point for 5 minutes, before pushing back into the enemy spawn to finish the game, Controlling the point was great. Call me a Codsofter but I was to cool shooting out of a tower whilst people ran in to take the point. the five minutes ended and we rushed, It was the best most dramatic moment in the game. We reach a hill and look down to see many people in tin huts below, We peak from cover and gain a fair few hits, Whilst hearing metal clinking at BBs bounced of the chicken wire. We slide down the hill and its CQB, Guns on Semi. Ref calls 'You can't shoot over the top of the huts' I thought this encouraged smart corner gameplay, I crouch to listen for enemies, Before seeing a gun-barrel waving underneath the corrigated-metal, I get full-auto'd to the leg from about a metre away. as I limped back to respawn I heard ref call game over, win for the attackers. It's important to add I did get kills that game, Just nothing special, Just emptying mags into a hut below. Damn cool though. Luckily my wound wasn't bleeding, Just multiple blood red circles all down my knee, I'm not complaining though, I just looked abit stupid in PE today. Next game, We started in the huts, And we had to push out. It was horrible whilst adrenaline-pumping at the same time. Remember the hill from earlier? we were now pushing up it, People spraying covering fire whilst we scramble up, Taking the fight to them. This was when I had my first confirmed kill. Not one, But two, And it was bloody worth it. I was far ahead of my teammates, I was sat behind a bush, winding my mag while my team fell back. I see a guy peaking a corner in the CQB point that we contested earlier, The same guy from earlier aswell. So I click it up to full auto. Lean out and land 5 BBs into his chest, And send him off to respawn with a cheeky wink. Then I rush round the corner and tap fire the next guy who was in a bush about twenty metres back. Game ends, We won. Summary? Great night, Great games, Great people. I like airsoft. I like this forum. Expect to see me round. -Reece PS: It's my brithday today. got a nice sum of money to start airsoft, Because at my site you can rent at no additional cost, I'm tempted to get a pistol as my first gun, Thoughts? This with This Mag ? I'm not sure if the cross-company thing would work. Fill me in

  4. You are correct, the small plug, which is for the balance part, does need plugging in. The 2S means it's recognised that your battery is 2 cell. I'll leave some one else explain what the 25c means - it's connected with how fast you can discharge the battery - there's normally two ratings, continuous and burst - the latter is normally higher. Effectively the total ampage of your battery divided by the C number is the amount of amps your motor has to take. I.e. 2600 mA battery which is 25C will put out 104 mA per burst.

Rent at no extra cost? That's brilliant. I suppose if you already have a primary then a pistol would be good, but then again it's probably still more useful to have extra mags and things rather than a whole new gun as tempting as it is. Gen 4 WE Glocks are pretty good from what I've heard, better than older versions. TM magazines are the best you can get as they're the most reliable, so I would definitely recommend them. I doubt they'll be getting them back in at £33 though, considering WE's long mags are £40. On the other hand somebody was selling a WE Glock extended magazine for £25 IIRC, although it could be Dumbass and he's now selling that along with the pistol itself. I might be getting a WE Glock 17 or 18 myself but need to wait for my GCSE results until I can get some money and I'm looking for jobs tommorow so fingers crossed there are some.

  14. RED & BLACK leads that go into XT60 and then back to crocadile leads - remove as you don't use them for your battery your battery - charge lead is tiny white plug - be careful as pins are tiny in charger your white lead - 3 tiny pins on 7.4v - goes into the white socket at side maybe ? there is a 4 pin socket = 11.1v - ground + 3 x cells of 3.7v each = 11.1v volt you got 7.4v - 2 cells of 3.7v = & gorund = 3 wires black, blue & red first time use I would trickle charge it myself - say a 1amp charge for first charge BUT as with all charging you should put it on say an old workbench - or kitchen worktop AND KEEP AN EYE ON IT You maybe should use a LiPo charger bag to reduce risk of heat or fire - bit ott but is there as a precaution Batteries can get hot - some more than others but I tend to trickle charge them unless I am in hurry NEVER put a battery on say your bed or carpet floor to be to charge - something a bit fireproof like a formica worktop - not bed or carpet LiPo charge bag - well if you are gonna charge it and not keep a close eye on it but then a watched pot never boils as the saying goes Use common sense - don't put it on floor/bed and go out for evening worktop bench and keep checking it on a regular basis yeah I should use LiPo bag but I ain't got one so keep an eye on it is better in my book

Well, damn. It would appear that the F2000 has vanished from the places which had it in stock since I last looked. Zeroone has them listed but they've not been in stock there for a while. Another one worth considering which you're unlikely to ever see at a skirmish is the AK5C - http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268_318_403_497&products_id=8505 Pretty cool Swedish rifle based on the FNC.

  16. The little white connector is the balance lead, that tells the charger what voltages the cells are at. Before you even think of charging anything, read the manual which comes with the Turnigy charger, it's not perfect but will give you a good idea of what to do. Then read this: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209187 You'll want to charge that battery at 2.6A, you could most likely charge it at more then that, but at that level it will last the longest (and be safer). When it is finished charging it will be at 8.4v, if it is a 7.4v LiPO. Oh and personally I always charge on the balance setting, it's a bit slower but if you're not in a rush it's the best way to do it.

Proper made me chuckle lololololol might save that into my signature bro As for why use knife kill when you can shoot, the idea is : Knife kill is quieter than a gun Knife kill is more humiliating Knife kill is a fun (nice variation from trigger spamming all day)

  18. The bang rule just causes arguments. It's a waste of time end of. My 5m might be different to your estimation so it'd much easier just to shoot the person. If you have no gun to do so, tough. When I used my VSR I regularly went without a sidearm as mine had broken. I often had people inside the MED and often easily within 5m. I wasn't carrying a suitable weapon so I either hid or called myself out. It's tough luck, I went into the game knowing I want carrying the right equipment or close quarter shooting so I couldnt complain.

  22. I strongly disagree with 'hand touch' knife kills. It just doesn't make sense. In a game where rubber knives are the cheapest peice of kit why not just blooming use one??? Also half the skill of a knife kill is taking it out quickly and quietly before using it. Just taking your hand off the gun reciever and sticking it out is just an absolute cop out. There's only one guy I know who can kill you with a tap on the shoulder and he don't airsoft A mate of mine once knife killed me 4 times in one skirmish because he is very very sneaky. On one occasion I felt the knife point into back, heard him safe knife kill, turned around and he wasn't there! Stealth level 1000 Also on the subject of 'feeling' hits I only ever where a tshirt with no vest/plate carrier so I feel them all. It's impossible for me to cheat even if I wanted too

    Advice on electric guns.

A nice M14 maybe? M14's tend to use a ver 7 gearbox and that is a really good gearbox. http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/airsoft-weapons-c38/electric-rifles-c45/g-g-g-g-gr14-m14-walnut-wood-stock-p1501 You also can have the benefit of a nice wood stock. I wouldn't get too hung up on the long barrel though. It makes more difference to gas guns. My ASG sten has about the shortest barrel of any AEG but we get complaints from the German players that it gives the British an unfair advantage due to the range we can hit them at. The Sten is internally very similar to an M14. Choose a gun you like the look of, then ask which version is going to suit your purposes.

  24. 110mm/11cm is a good bit of a change. You need to match the cylinder volume to the inner barrel volume. What's happening is that not all of the air in the compression zone is used to accelerate the BB because the piston is coming under compression earlier than it should be and the BB is escaping the barrel before it is fully accelerated. If you want the rough velocity of what you used to have match the volume. Here's what you do: Use πr2h to find the volume of the barrel and cylinder. To find the h of the cylinder measure from the port to the top, this is the compression zone. Find the ratio of the two and try get it as close as possible.

  29. Zinc is an absolute bitch of a metal to repair and work with. The best method for repair is the one I posted by using flux and that super alloy 1 stuff they advertise,I'd go to some sort of welding or metalwork shop, maybe even a place specializing in restoring old stuff and ask about repairing zinc.

  32. End of the day, VAT is VAT, 20% is a fixed value, customs can't change that. There is some lee-way in the Import Charge code they use but not very much, few quid either way. If anything they're more likely to be looking for 'guns' inside packages from HK because that's where the vast majority of RIFs will be coming in from, there's not going to be much difference. I've had RIFs from HK stopped and had maximum charges whacked on, same as I'm getting with a RIF from the states right now. Personally I'd say the main reason not to buy airsoft from the US is the general xenophobic attitude to sales that so many stores over there exhibit and the fact the prices are quite often worse.

  35. Your attitude is spot on both with regards to MED and bang rule I'm a true believer in that if you have a problem getting hit point blank (single shot) then you should stick to posing with airsoft guns instead of playing with them. If you are a bit of a jitterish person than cqb is defo not for you. Strangely when I play airsoft I do see a lot of people who hang back a bit away from the front line/entry team on doorways obviously afraid of getting lit up. These people tend to have masses of protective gear on and still worry. The strange thing is, if you let a mate shoot a couple of times point blank it will hurt but then you get over that fear. You will enjoy airsoft ten times more after that with your new found bravery and freedom. Getting hit point blank at airsoft should be as expected and enjoyed as much as getting wet going swimming or getting muddy playing football. We need to take the 'soft' out of airsoft lol

    First rifle

Blowback means different things to different manufacturers. Some are connected to the gearbox and that's bad because when if fails it can destroy your gearbox. G&G just use some of the air from the piston to open and close the bit that the spent shells would eject from (the name of which my brain will not allow me to remember at the moment). If it stops working it will have no effect on performance at all, its just a neat bit of added realism. It should not be an issue when doing upgrades etc. EJECTION PORT!!! -see I'm not a dumbass who doesn't know what gun parts are called, I'm just half asleep

You do need insoles but everything else is all good. Btw with the extra lace your suppose to have alot extra so you can wrap it around the top of the boot then tie it off in the usual knot
