Standbystandby Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Hi guys and girls. I have been airsofting for just over a year now and loving it. I got into airsoft after suffering an injury whilst competing in my previous much loved sport. Anyway having always been into fitness dependant hobbies/ sports I was plesently surprised how much fitness plays a role in airsoft. I have recently started a fitness programme which has been designed to get me "fighting fit" for airsoft. I was wondering how many others do any sort of fitness to improve their airsoft experience. I honestly didn't appreciate how physical airsoft can be. Aengus 1
Sacarathe Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Go to airsoft more. sp00n and JamesAirsofterAgent 2
Supporters ImTriggerHappy Posted December 16, 2015 Supporters Posted December 16, 2015 I practice my fitness for airsoft by repeatedly running into walls. I find its the best preparation I can have I usually start training about a week before a normal skirmish and at least a month before a big event. To jazz it up I occasionally throw in a few suicide slides. I have almost cracked the embarrassed did anybody see that ninja jump up now. Jedi_Master and cropzy 2
Standbystandby Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 Ha running into walls, I've done that fair bit! As well as shooting at tree for 5 mins through steamed up goggles then reporting it to the mars halls for not taking hits! Epic
Supporters Esoterick Posted December 16, 2015 Supporters Posted December 16, 2015 I'm going to start doing some cardio stuff at the gym as I want to be able to run around more without keeling over. When I started playing a couple of years back I was so unfit that after my first skirmish day I had trouble getting up stairs for most of the week.... Sacarathe 1

PeteS Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I work as a Strength & Conditioning coach, I have coached people for lots of sports and a few for military service. I was toying with the idea recently about making a few Youtube videos on fitness for Airsoft or writing an article for Airsoft action if they wanted it. At the end of the day, the fitter you are the more capable an airsofter you are. Not always a better airsofter, but you broaden your abilities. Airsoft-Ed and Aengus 2

Lord_Metile Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Going to the gym has helped a lot. I remember carrying things was tedious when I first started playing but now it doesn't bother me. I usually do weights and treadmill.
Aengus Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I think a bit of fitness work could help alot of airsofters but you don't have to become a gym lad (unless you're a saw gunner then you have to lift 100lbs )
sniperslucky Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 You don't need the gym get yourself down to a park in your combats and spend 30mins doing sprints crawling and the likes of what moves you would perform at airsoft. Locals may call the police seeing acting like a looney but the run from them will also help your fitness deebo, JamesAirsofterAgent, Aengus and 1 other 4
Baz JJ Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Airsoft was my way of getting fit, so its kind of self policing.
Head Moderator Jedi_Master Posted December 16, 2015 Head Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 My wife has just signed me up to the local fitness centre to get me fighting fit, trimmer, and stronger. Oh joy. For the same money I could buy a new TM recoil and all the extra mags and attachments plus have some skirmish money left over. No matter how fit, I will still get hit and covered in welts, and take longer to recover from a Sunday game than I did 20 years ago. djben9 and ImTriggerHappy 2

Could be worse mate I havent played since the start of November and I am still recovering. Getting older isnt much fun.

i3666 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I go hill running a lot and incorporate HIIT training into it. Basically, sprint short periods on the hill and then a slow jog, and alternate it. I play a lot of CQB and this is to simulate the fast periods of CQB type airsoft. djben9 1
