I've always done the same, but there is a certain attractiveness to paying a few quid and knowing it will come back back working as expected rather than having to strip it down to a gearbox AGAIN because you fitted the wrong length nozzle. ** I am not saying I've done that this week but I did order a couple of new nozzles from AK2M4 today...

  6. Hi all, I’m a relatively experienced airsofter & have been playing with AEGs for the past 18 years… Recently I’ve dipped my toe into the GBBR world & come into possession of a WE open bolt SCAR H. This thing is an absolute beast & the recoil is mega. Just wondering what the verdict is on these things? Like, what’s the life expectancy of the stock parts… is there anything I should consider upgrading before even playing with it? Any advice ref parts & reliable UK based retailers/stockists for said parts would be great. Thanks in advance!! Picture is just for attention…

    WE Open Bolt SCAR H

I've bought some parts from here with no issues... https://www.kyairsoft.com/ . I've not fielded mine yet due to a previous owner fecking up an npas installation but it was easily fixed with the parts I got from kyairsoft. I'm a Scar fanboi & this is probably one of my favourite pews, kinda waiting for decent weather to use it in game but recently ordered some red gas but I suspect it might be a bit hot for my local site (hense the npas), I got 5 or 6 mags with it & 2 of them have lost the base plate so make sure your's are solid on the mag. The mags are hefty so use sharpshooter sized mag pouches if you wear molle. fyi... I found it easy to strip down for maintenance but make sure ALL the screws are tight as I found a couple of my body screws loose & one was missing (assuming they loosened due to the GBB). I'm sure I've seen a couple in the classifieds with missing or broken fore sights so check it over & tighten/adjust them as you see fit.

When I didn't know what I was doing, tech wise (I still don't know what I'm doing for everything else), I went to TheCageAirsoft for them to work on my MP5. To install a bunch of parts, including wiring a MOSFET, they charged me £80 labour. This was Jan 2023 so not sure if their prices have changed since. The lads there are great and have always tried to help me out if I had any questions about random stuff. Can't recommend them enough.

  11. The reason is that the average speed of the bb is higher if it is heavier. With greater mass the bb slows down more slowly and the force due to drag is less because of the reduced speed from the outset. So you have less deceleration all the time for the same speed (.2 vs .4 is half of the deceleration due to drag of the .2) and more drag for the same energy for the .2, because its going faster and drag is exponentially increased with speed. The result is that the .2 has a high force slowing a light bb which reduces it's speed much more than the lower force on a heavier bb. The heavy one overtakes the light one in effect and arrives sooner than the light one. The graph above from the Airsoft trajectory project shows the time and mass relationship.

  12. Because lighter BBs slow down significantly faster than heavier ones. It's enough that at about 30m they will impact at about the same time. Past 30m heavier BBs will start to land before lighter ones. I'll link the airsoft trajectory project. Someone using actual maths and simulations to map the ballistics of BBs. In the fifth chart, time of flight vs distance, you see an almost constant ~30% increase in travel time for a 0.2g bb over a 0.3g bb at the end of the range. https://mackila.com/airsoft/atp/07-b-07.htm full list of links https://mackila.com/airsoft/atp/

  13. It is with great sadness I have to announce the death of West Yorkshire’s former Chief Olympic hide and seek coach. Matthew Donovan was forced to retire from the role several years ago after a training exercise involving the teams rising star went seriously wrong, leading to his imprisonment for kidnapping. In recent times he had made something of a comeback in the “Vampire Dairys”. A story of pioneering work done raising the worlds first meat eating cattle. He was always in the shadow of his more illustrious brother Mike “big V” Donovan who led the successful resistance against the space Lizard invasion. RIP Dickhead.

    New to airsoft

Welcome. The best way to get started is to book a game at a local site. Check out https://playairsoft.uk/ to find sites in your area. As for what to buy I recommend renting for your first 3 games as the site will provide you with a gun and face protection so all you'll need to have is decent footwear (many outdoor sites insist you wear boots not trainers as they provide less grip the risk of twisting your ankle is far higher). There are laws governing the sale of airsoft guns so without a site membership you'll be stuck with having to buy a brightly coloured 2 tone gun (assuming you're 18 or over). Renting also means you'll be able to get a better idea of what suits you

Hi, Have a look here for local sites - playairsoft.co.uk First couple of times you play you dont need to buy anything. You can rent it all from the site. Once the bug has bitten you though, a good set of eye protection and a decent set of boots should high on your purchase list.

  17. Thanks for the reply's guys. I didn't realise this thread was still going It is a brand new stock TM VSR we have. My son (12) is happy with the range using .28's at the moment, I'm sure we will be upgrading the internals at some point though. My worry with heavier springs is his ability to cock the gun. When/if I get to have a go with the gun in the field I will get a better idea of what needs to be done. Thanks again for all the info, its a learning curve for me.

  18. There's no offence committed by purchasing[*], or attempting to purchase, within the UK. If you can persuade someone to sell you one, then it's legal for you to buy it. It's entirely up to sellers what they accept as a defence, as they're the one committing the offence of selling. Sportsman Association / Shooter's Rights / JustCost are all bogus non-defences, but that's their problem, not yours. Or some sellers accept Military Vehicle Trust membership to adduce the re-enactment defence. The other thing you can do is contact a retailer directly and provide some evidence that you have a history of playing airsoft. It's entirely up to each seller what they accept. [*] Somewhat bizarrely, it is an offence to modify a non-realistic imitation firearm into a realistic imitation firearm, but not to buy it. But you'll never find anyone who cares.

  19. Better yet, why dont you buy a used rif, that will be cheaper than new, you won't need a UKARA for, get it as a set with a case, multiple mags, batteries and everything you need to get you started and enjoy. A UKARA is one of those things you need to BUY NEW rifles from shops online. You technically need it when selling rifs online, however I never see anyone actually check. So you can just go buy a non two tone rif on used websites and enjoy. You can also buy a two tone rif and remove the colour at home yourself, these use cheap spray on paint, theres multiple posts regarding using rubbing alcohol and decolouring them.

  20. I have the G&G SR25 E2 APC, I only ever had that beeping when I tried to run it on a 7.4v LiPo. Swapped to an 11.1v and it stopped (I've since swapped out the ETU for the Perun ETU++ and that lets me use 7.4v no problem. Fingers crossed on the new battery!

  23. I'm certain that has nothing to do with the BB weight, sounds more like hop problems. Sure, on lower power builds the performance increase of using heavier BBs is less noticeable than on higher power builds. Because the Heavy BBs have less initial velocity to conserve better than their lighter counterpart. But no matter what, if you have a hop that imparts the same relative spin on both the light and the heavy BB, the heavy BB goes farther. It wont run out of magnus effect sooner. It is heavier, heavy things conserve energy better, and as such will spin longer, prolonging the magnus effect, and conserving the muzzle energy for longer making them faster than lighter BBs at any range farther than ~10-20 metres.

  24. So a while ago I started to build a hk21e machinegun based on a jg g3 but the gun was a bit screwed and I made a bit of a hash of upgrading it so That rather killed my motivation for working on that. I recently sold off that gun as part of my process of swapping entirely to gbbrs. Having watched a few explosive enterprises vids I decided to give this another go. This time the base gun is a we gbb g3. It came to me with the barrel shortened and Ive just picked up a proper hk21e style clubfoot stock for it. Im planning to model and print most of the bits for it in plastic and then send them off to be done in aluminium when im finished. This is just the first step. 1 new sight block that just sits on the cocking tube and dosent go down to the barrel. 2 front handguard cap with a block hidden under it which bolts to the handguard pinhole to keep everything rigid 3 a sleeve to go over the barrel to give it the proper machinegun profile. I have sanded and painted this bit since the proper barrel is tapered and making one of these in metal would be a pain. will probably leave it plastic. It just screws onto the outer barrel nut and gets pinned in place by the flash hider. next up is to make the rear handguard cap and order some steel or aluminium tube to make the actual handguard. Ill be building a pinhole into the rear handguard cap where the belt feed mechanism attaches. This would normally be on the reciever instead of the magwell but Im trying to make this in a way which requires as little modification to the base gun as possible. Once the belt feed assembly is made ill be making a box mag to slot onto it, fitting the guts of a 249 box in there, hpa tapping the original mag and drilling a hole in the front for bbs to feed in from a spring tube. Im not really a fan of hpa but for a gbb lmg like this its simply the best option.

    Gun picture thread

New 'inexpensive' DMR build. Base gun is a polymer GE 417, for weight and low price. Out of the box it was pretty horrid , but tbf for what it cost I wasn't expecting much. Gearbox is a long V2 with a mosfet and some sort of electronic full auto set up, no COL and a micro switch whitch enables full auto. I'm not realy a fan of mosfets as I see it as adding unnecisary electronic crap, ( and I'm normally running GBBR) but I'll concede that the lack of COL is handy in a semi locked pew. I've replaced the piston head and added a slightly longer double o ring nozzle, compression is now awesome. Switched to a ZCI rotary hop and inner barrel, along with a M/L rubber and Omega nub. Also a high torque motor. Now running at 1.78j on my home chrono on .36BBs. Quick blow over with Halfords paint to make it look a bit less plastic and added a few spare decals I had. It'll get a run out next game to shake it down, but happy with that.

    Marui G36c+

Looks like Marui are giving the minor update treatment to the G36c now. Mosfet, different sights and allegedly better finish (although I suspect it'll be the same as the recoil ones, but I could be wrong). https://www.tokyo-marui.co.jp/products/electric/standard/512

    Marui G36c+

Okay, but *apart* from the recoil shocks, magnetic fire control in the MP5, MWS system, gas AK's, gas semi auto saiga, new pistols, electric shotguns, recoil MK46, sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us? Yes, this isn't a new gun. It's a refresh. Plenty of other threads people say "JG/CYMA have mosfets and Marui don't". Marui refresh to bring them in and then "They're not innovating"? Combined with "I'll wait for the clone to come out" seems hard for them to win.

It looks absolutely immaculate so I have no doubt it would command the top end of second hand value… but that’s still 70% of new value.
