Having done up a replica G3 from an old TM version made from parts. I wanted a scope on it, but didn't just want an ordinary scope and didn't wanna pay for the scope that goes with the gun in the real world. Anyhoo, I started with a cheap 4x40 normal scope and cut it down. Emptied it out and put a bit of 30mm pipe on the back. I had a TM MP5 claw mount and cut the top off, filling any gaps in with milliput. A friend 3d printed some spacers and I glued them to the scope I was using. I glued various spare caps on and put a real G36 3x inner scope part to have some sort of sight picture through it. Sprayed up black and flip up end caps to finish. A bit later on I decided I wanted the more modern type lower that I'd seen with the German soldiers in Afghanistan. I used a cheap MP5 Navy lower and filled in the embossed bullet symbols. Sprayed it with bumper paint and drew on the selector markings. I bought a real selector lever from D&B Militaria and drilled a new hole to slot it right through to the other side. It may feel like a long winded way of making it but apart from the lower I already had and the selector which was only a couple of quid all it cost me was a bit of time.

TL:DR - This is the working prototype of my Airsoft EM-2 rifle. I designed and made this, mostly by CNC machining solid Aluminium and Walnut. I've only made one. I'm posting it here for the great Airsoft Hive mind to tell me what they think one might be worth if I were to make any for sale. Longer but still briefly 🙂 The story of the Janson 'Automatic Rifle, .280 in, E.M. 2' is a relatively minor but interesting bit of British Firearms history, and the Bullpup design and 0.280 inch / 7mm calibre choices were way ahead of their time. The rifle was actually adopted, briefly, in 1951 as the UK's new standard Service Weapon to replace the aging Lee Enfield's and Stens after WW2. But Politics, and especially American insistance on what would become the NATO standard 7.62mm round, saw it un-adopted only a few months later (by Winston Churchill no less!) and no 'Rifle 7mm, No.9, Mk1' was ever actually produced. I started trying to make myself a reasonable Airsoft version of Stefan Jansons EM-2 around 4 or 5 years ago, before the OTT videogame versions appeared btw 🙂. Teaching myself a bit about hobby scale CNC machining and 3D CAD/CAM as I went along . . . I'll let you imagine what my first attempts looked like! and how much wood and metal I wasted, and how many tool bits I've broken! I began making my Airsoft version based on a copy of one of the original blueprints for the 'Rifle 7mm, No.9, Mk1.', and later on corrected it a lot after I had the rare and utterly invaluble privilege of being able to compare my initial efforts with a real steel example, courtesy of Mr Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. Jonathan is also the Author of the definitive 'Thorneycroft to SA80. British Bullpup Firearms 1901-2020', which has two chapters on the E.M.2 and its history. Without Jonathan's book and his help answering questions on a most memorable day in Leeds my version wouldn't look anything like the real thing does. The major parts of the prototype are made from CNC'd solid Aluminium and solid Walnut planks with a steel outer barrel and real Walnut veneer. It is fitted with a Wolverine Inferno HPA engine as there just isn't room for a gearbox inside the EM-2's frame and the inner barrel is 600mm long stainless steel. This project has taken a lot longer and cost a lot more than I imagined it would when I started. Obviously the thought of selling them, if only to make some of my money back(!) has crossed my mind, and I've spoken to a couple of people about the idea. But the consensus seemed to be there wouldn't be enough demand to justify having a batch of them professionally manufactured, even if I have already done most of the R&D, and without professional production and their economy of scale savings, the unit price and the time needed for me to make each one makes it almost certainly uneconomic to do so. But just recently while corresponding with a user on the forum I thought hey, I may as well ask what other Airsofters think a realistic price for it would be? and if anyone would want to buy one if they could? So, over to you Hive mind 🙂

Saw this thread and thought I'd share one of my projects I'd done a couple of years ago. Nothing too fancy but it's unique as I've not seen any other airsoft replica Turkish HK33 looking replicas as accurate tbh. Classic Army Base gun. Slim Handguard made from a real G3 Handguard. Railed Handguard made from an old springer shotty and an MP5 3d printed handguard. The GL front end was a cheap battery box cut to suit with the handguard made from foamex board. The cocking handle was fashioned from foamex board too. The lower was a standard MP5 one with the embossed bullet symbols filled in. Repainted in OD then the new bullet symbols drawn on freehand by marker pens. The magazine is just a spring Sig552 one modded to fit. Again, nothing too fancy, but I like the finished job.

Aye so I am predominantly a bass player. Been in many bands over the years, nearly made it big a few times. But ultimately hated the touring life. Once auditioned for Bloc Party before they made it big and turned them down as I thought (And still think) The Singer can't sing live. Currently hoping to replace the Jackson Jeff Loomis 7 String Hardtail that I sold recently with the Active Pickup/Floyd model in November sales. My only bass at the moment is this Stas Pokotylo Custom Made in Ukraine Bass. Fodera Monarch Copy. Guitarwise I currently have. Edwards Alexi Laiho Pinky Signature model. Jackson Brandon Ellis Sig Kelly. and a white Fender Tele. And for a laugh. This is me maybe 17 years ago?

You've basically just covered over the two pieces meant to help with grip, with something that will wear down pretty fast - Even more so if it gets wet

I bought this rather nice CYMA MP5 SD6 from @Petford25 through the classifieds here; it will go through all my usual upgrades, including fitting an SEF lower.

The first step would be to work out what it would cost you to build, rolling in the lessons learned from making your first one. I suspect that that cost would be pretty steep, and unfortunately the market will probably be smaller than it appears. The number of people who will say they'd pay £££ for a high quality unicorn and the number of people who would actually follow through when the time comes wont be the same. That isnt to say you shouldnt do it, because it is cool af and looks like you're making a proper quality product. I am absolutely here for anything that dilutes the pool of ar derivatives.

My third RIF post this week... It's been about 30 years since I first wanted an airsoft Bizon and thanks to AliExpress, the final piece arrived today, nearly 2 months after ordering: the OKP-7 RDS (which came in a suspiciously Russian box, with Russian instructions 🤔). I've tried to keep it as authentic as possible by using Russian kit and Zenitco repro furniture. Currently clearing every room in my house like some bat-wearing ninja. 😄 Parts list: Cyma PP-19 Bizon-2 AEG Platinum gearbox, Laylax 6.03mm barrel, ML bucking and nub OKP-7 red dot sight, flip-up lense protector [5KU] PBS-1 mini suppressor Painstakingly fitted front rails at 3 and 9 [WADSN] K-2P flashlight [5KU] Zenitco B-13 optic mount [5KU] Zenitco PK-3 grip [Hephaestus] (modified) Stock rail adaptor

If anything , I’d be putting ranger bands on the grips, a couple of them twisted and layered will provide grip and not absorb moisture

I suppose we could argue/assume that the big players in airsoft would have developed one already if there was sufficient demand, and smaller players migh not due to costs. It's a shame really but we can live in hope.

I'm not sure how far back the automatic renewal system is pulling ads from, so if someone has had say 90 ads, will it keep drawing from that historical pool ?, would 81 have to be deleted before it allowed a new ad to be added ?. So pricing is how much are raw materials? how much is the machine time? how many man hours goes into making it. If you can make a shell for less than a couple thousand I'll be impressed. Also that is beautiful work.

I've never had any problems with the one that come with the gun. Both the FAL and AR15 mags seem to use the same feed lips, and I've had no issues loading either. Silly question, but are you loading from the top, and got it the right way round? Like so? I'd recommend supergluing the adapter onto the loader (I did the same with my MWS one too). EDIT: I've just double checked and the feed lips are slightly different between the FAL and AR15. Still load the same way though

This is really a bit of a self-indulgent moan about the internet not being the way I like it anymore, I expect the appeal of this thread (or otherwise) will largely hinge on your age, but anyway... I'm in a few airsoft related Discord groups, namely because they contain info I can't get anywhere else and are by and large far more active than forums. But for the love of Christ, the experience of using them is painful. Having an ever scrolling wall of text, out of context replies to prior comments punctuated by sporadic memes just makes my head hurt. I just can't fathom why anyone would prefer this over a forum thread, other than the low-effort barrier to entry. What am I missing here?

Joined Discord to buy and sell then a month or two later they ended that. Not rally been back since, hated the experience. Loved the WA Threads on Classic Airsoft iirc but meh, give me a forum any day. Still not got over Arnies closing down after being a member for about 30 years. I wonder if it's just this model recieving an aluminium version? An aluminium Vietnam model would be interesting. Price wise it makes no real difference. Once your in for a grand you may as well pay for steel

Coming from only owning ICS & WE, this one may genuinely be the best replica internally. The simplicity of the split gearbox is beautiful and it had a 2 fps variation, 21 shots all averaging 302 - 304fps on a 0.25g BB. Obviously the blowback is terrible, so I would advise disabling it even if it does work. I’ll have it with me this weekend if you want to check it out 🙂

Great job, bud! My build's coming along nicely, but without the proper handguard and barrel, it's more of a KS-2 at the moment. The optic paint is a primer, until I can get the right khaki colour. I'm still holding out for a repro Vortex AMG 1-10, so I can replace the Vortex Razor repro that's on there now, though.🫢
