Gunman Tuddenham, Three-strikes?
mrfoxhound and 3 others reacted to Emergencychimps for a topic
The wall of text isn't doing the ops point much good. However I think the general consensus is a moan about the site, hit taking, lack of action from the marshalls over issues, not having dedicated marshalls. I am a "regular" there, although in 2024 Im not sure I did more than 5 games. I'm not a marshall, but I have been attending for 12+years. Over the years it has had its ups and down, currently it's mid way through a change of manager, different people will be running the different weekends they run (skirmish, battlefield and filmsim). The brambles have always been an issue and are worse than ever, but keeping on top of all the maintenance is very hard! They have done loads, loads more is needed. I've noticed the dates the op mentioned, some would be skirmish, some battlefield and possible a filmsim. They have very different rules and are meant to be very different experiences. I suspect the lack of consistency comments and it being their personal playground is connected to this. Generally tuddenham is great, though I've had some truly awful days there too. Of all the sites I've done, it's the most consistently good (sometimes amazing), if i rated every event I've ever done, I'm confident tuddenham would have the highest average of all sites attended. However they are not perfect. I've seen (and mentioned on the how was your skirmish thread) how some days have been awful. I did a game in September time and it was truly the worst day of Airsoft I've ever witnessed. It was also the day I've seen the most non regular attendees at tuddenham, I spotted several large groups who were visiting and they effectively hijacked and ruined the weekend. I've personally witnessed the marshall deal with cheaters and seen people told to leave the site. I've seen player marshalls work very well and badly. General advice, pick your event there carefully, want more "realism" , then filmsims are for you, want to squirt loads of bbs for your hpa pistol, do the skirmish. Even then, there is the potential for it to go wrong, they can only provide the venue, rules, rule enforcement and encouragement, a lot is on the players. As mentioned, I've done a lot of sites over the years and it'd be a real shame to write tuddenham off, it's generally far better than most sites I've been to. After 3 bad visits I can understand why you would though.4 points -

Emergencychimps - I think you’ve put it far better than I could. I’ve only been playing at Tuddenham on and off for the past 3 years, had some really good days and a couple less so - but on the whole myself and the team keep going back as it’s close by and overall not a bad site. To highlight the matter of perspective, I’m pretty sure I was at that September games and only noted one episode of non hit-taking all day - yet you clearly had a completely different experience. Completely understand why the OP may be reluctant to return, I think 3 opportunities would be my limit as well.2 points -
The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Colin Allen and one other reacted to Impulse for a topic
First game day of 2025, first time I dug out my thermals, after being cold in the last game of 2024. Went to Worthing Airsoft yesterday for a quiet game day, as only about 35 players were there. It was pretty cold, but saved by the fact that it was dry with no wind or mist, so it actually felt warmer than last game day (though it's hard to quantify as I was wearing thermals this time!). I decided to try something new and took my HPA m21 build with me, as I have recently put a new hop rubber in and sorted the jamming issue, so I wanted to see how it would shoot. Brought the SRS as a backup gun though, because you always bring a backup! Used the mk23 as a pistol, because it's cold and GBBs aren't as happy in this weather, where the mk23 being an NBB doesn't have the same struggles. So first game was simple. Three fuel cans were in the Tower base. One side painted blue, one side painted yellow. I was on blue team and we had to get the cans so they were blue side up, yellow team had to make sure they were yellow side up. I went to my usual spot by the flank of the Tower base with the m21 and it was shooting fine. I'm not going to say it was shooting amazingly, as I feel like it was maybe a bit cold for the 4UAD hop rubber as I don't believe they are made of silicone, but it was shooting fine. I spent the whole game there, getting a weapon hit from the side because the m21 with the suppressor on it is a long gun and was poking out a bit too much but getting someone to essentially use my medic life to get the gun back in play. However, after the first game I decided to head back to the safe zone and swap to my SRS. The m21 wasn't shooting amazingly well, but there were two main annoyances. The bottle + regulator was quite high up, so when I was prone the regulator was jamming into the back of my head and lifting my ghillie up in a weird way. Secondly, with the line threaded through my left side, I couldn't sling the gun properly on my right, which is where my muscle memory is at and it was very annoying. So I missed the 2nd game (same as the first, but swapped ends) and got back out for the 3rd game which took us through to lunch. It was essentially a game of hangman, where a marshall was sat in an open area with a whiteboard and a bunch of objectives. One player at a time could go up to him and guess a letter; if you were right, he gave you an objective to take back to your base, if you were wrong, he started blasting at anyone nearby. If you guessed the word correctly, you got two objectives to take back, same punishment if you were wrong. We got hammered in this one and lost handily, but it was still great fun. I got into a spot fairly nearby to the hangman board, to the point where I got my rangefinder out to see if it was going to be a mk23 spot or if I could use my SRS, but my distance to the marshall was 32m and they were all approaching from the other side, so I was good to use the SRS. Managed to take out a lot of enemy players as they tried getting to the marshall or tried getting objectives away, but was eventually taken out as our team got pushed hard. Traded with the guy who got me, but it was much easier for him to get medic'd back in and I just went back to my respawn. I got back there when I got back in play, but it didn't take long for the yellow team to get the remaining objectives. I then fell back and took a position near our base while most of the team tried attacking yellow base (and failed ), as I wanted to make sure we didn't get absolutely wrecked. One of our team was also in the top of the base and there were another two guys behind me who had absolutely no idea I was lying prone about 5m in front of one of them. Right at the end of the game, a bunch of sneaky yellow players managed to get in behind and took out the other two guys behind me, but didn't spot me as they tried to enter our base. With me hidden and the other blue player in the top of the base with the objectives, there was no way they were getting in and I took them all out with the mk23 while one of the marshalls had a giggle, as they had absolutely no idea I was there. I just use a ghillie cape (no hood) and a crafted boonie hat, so it just goes to show that you don't need these all-over bush suits to remain hidden even with people right behind and next to you. After lunch we were down a bunch of players who left at lunch. We played a very fun and very silly game where there were 12 barrels (6 with yellow lines and 6 with blue lines) near a marshall and each team had to stack them up as tall as possible, with the tallest stack winning. The player stacking the barrels was invincible as long as they had a hand on a barrel (though they could still be shot at) and neither team could flank past the barrels. I took up a spot that my friend usually takes, lying on top of a fallen tree with some great lines of sight and great camo as I'd find out as enemy players looked directly at me, but didn't actually spot me. SRS was still shooting really well and I got some cracking shots. The first game ended in a tie with some barrel shenanigans that were rather amusing to watch, but when we swapped ends our team absolutely smashed the yellow team. I got into a spot where I was prone behind a tree, with a barricade to my left and a large puddle to my right and a great view down a path that would lead to their spawn. I was waaaaaaaaay too far to spawn camp, but anyone who came through this way got taken out by me with some lovely 72 - 80m shots (confirmed with my rangefinder). After this game I called it. Next game was a timed attack on some bunkers, but I had 1 mag left which was nowhere near enough and so I headed back to the safe zone to pack up. All in all it was a great day. I think the lower numbers led to some really good gameplay, the games themselves were great fun and the weather, while cold, was pretty good for airsoft as it was dry and not very windy. I'm also starting to feel the benefits of my exercise I started last month, as while I'm still carrying far too much weight, I found it far easier to move about and don't even ache today. Already looking forward to next game day!2 points -

@mrfoxhound thanks for your review mate, unfortunately I can't move your thread as Gunman Tuddenham doesn't have a thread yet. If you want to copy & paste it here: https://airsoft-forums.uk/forum/142-site-list/ as a new thread, that should work, if I do it it will look like it's my review.1 point -
+1 for the FMA team Wendy as well. It has a memory foam type inner lining and comes with extra Velcro memory foam padding1 point

I have the FMA Wendy bump helmet and it's great. Mostly because I have a massive head and it's about the only one that fits properly. The shell IS quite flexible so don't assume that you won't feel it if you bang your head but at least you won't need stitches!1 point

You’re both making this a toxic environment. You’re both for some reason going for me personally. There’s a section for forum feedback and I provided feedback. The issue won’t cause more problems. Stop insulting my career and skills. if this forum is the only place you two can act like arseholes because you’re too immature to see someone just trying to get back into their hobby. I can’t play often but want to. But no you’ve come and made me feel unwelcome for a simple suggestion. Do you both really think you’ve handled this in a fair way?1 point

There is a difference between an individual experience and an isolated incident. You may not have given an explicit demand or explicit expectation BUT (I use the word deliberately because it negates everything stated before it) you did "ask" if people are against fixing a problem when it had already been explained that fixing some issues can have unforeseen negative effects. An experienced software engineer (or engineer of any kind) should have understood the predicament mentioned to you. A thicker skin is recommended when you find people disagreeing with you.1 point

Okay it feels like I’m being attacked! A) if I’m having it others most likely are! Tackle, Encid and Anonymoose for three so It’s not an individual experience… B) where did I make it seem like this was something I was demanding instantly or expecting anyone to drop their lives for? I even offered to help if ever needed in future! Honestly quite upset by this. I’ll go back to lurking…1 point

Lpred is a Chinese ballistic helmet right? Excessive weight for Airsoft. The FMA Team Wendy bump helmet is solid and very good for the price. I think I got one for £35. The dial retention system is good, the stock padding is pretty OK and the NV mount works as it should.1 point

The photo rule has been working a treat so far and is a great addition. I have not received any dodgy scam messages since. Now we seem to have voucher pushers using the small hours of the morning to try and post bizarre and extremely boring long messages in German about Basil Fawlty or something! All of my AEGs are in boxes since I moved to GBBRs; if I'm not using a bolt action, I'm using a GBBR. Never regretted the move myself as I love the realism and manual of arms. Then again, I am the type of player who puts weighted plates in their plate carrier because immersion (my weighted plates weigh roughly mid way between level III and IV UHMWPE plates at 2.1kg each) and then also sticks heavy GBBR mags into said carrier. I have 3x MWSs, 2x KWA mp9s, a TM AKM and a KWA mac11 and they're all fantastic. Moving to a GBBR you will be outgunned because a 300rd high cap in a full auto AEG is a lot more pew than a 35rd GBBR magazine that weighs a lot more and gets very inconsistent with too much fun switch, especially in winter. You will run out of ammo and have to reload mid firefight. People will push you while you're reloading. However, this is all part of the reason why I enjoy it so much. It's an added challenge, but it's that similar feeling as when I'm using a bolt action; every hit you get feels so much more fulfilling than with an AEG because of these limitations you're dealing with, and the recoil does feel fun and always makes me smile. Also, hitting a "switching to your pistol is faster than reloading" kill when you're being pushed during a rifle reload feels great and makes you feel like you're the main character of an action film. I am biased. Embrace GBBR.1 point
