Rule 5 update
Galvatron and 5 others reacted to Jez_Armstrong for a topic
I would also add, please make your hand written note on the first photo so I don't have to scroll through 7 photos to the end to find the bit of paper Also, I've been nuking threads, whilst some mods may be more considerate I don't see how you can't not see the big red banner at the top, there's zero excuse6 points -
Afternoon guys, while we appreciate some of you have embraced the recent rule changes with no issues, we're still getting new members that are failing to read the rules (& probably won't read this😏), as well as a lot of existing members that are renewing ads that existed before the December 1st rule change, but haven't updated their pictures with at least one picture showing items for sale & the inclusion of a piece of paper with the username & date handwritten on it. For anyone who can't be arsed, don't worry, we'll also get to the point soon where we can't be arsed to send reminders, we'll just nuke the threads, never to be seen again. What also needs to be considered is that some of the notes are written in the smallest handwriting with pens with tiny tips, we don't have spectrum microscopes to blow them up in order to be able to read them, so bigger writing with something like a sharpie marker would be great. If in doubt, consider if you were the buyer & you couldn't make out the name, you might not bother enquiring further. Everyone needs to get on board with this, irrespective of time here & forum feedback, we've seen a marked decline of scam attempts reported so hopefully this is starting to make a difference. Thanks for your continued support 🙏5 points

Rule 5 update

Take the approach that the Airgun Forums use - absolute zero tolerance. People will either fall into line or go somewhere else. And it's really not that hard to scrawl a note with a username and date on it for the photos.4 points -
True facts. On an AEG, I find that magnification is really for checking whether I'm actually shooting at a target, or just thrashing bush with my balls.4 points

Colin Allen and 2 others reacted to Galvatron for a topic
I suspect the OP follows the YouTube channel and has fallen to Jake's hype that having an "insane" custom AEG does you the business, instead of understanding he who wields is more important than what is wielded. Each to their own indeed but I hope he understands there is a massive sunk cost that could have been reduced considerably had he commissioned a domestic UK tech to build for him.3 points -
Bunker 51 in administration and closed
Rogerborg and 2 others reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
That's certainly one way to lower costs but I'm not sure Bunker 51 could've done that as they also ran paintball laser tag and escape rooms. From looking on companies house it appears that of all the related companies Bunker 51 is the only one going into administration so hopefully they're going to find a new site3 points -

ahh yes, so essential i forget to mention it. well that's partially good, means the issue isn't necessarily the ml fee lip length. one thing to contemplate is ammo, if it's a bit sticky might give what you see. the number of these sorts of issues i've "fixed" by handing a mag filled with geoffs to the complainant......... otherwise next candidate to look at is the nozzle/cylinder head, one assumes they seal well to each other (worth checking with the thumb test) but possible that it isn't working when feeding, but sealing against the hop it just takes .01mm too short to get intermittent seal.2 points -

I appreciate what @Jez_Armstrong is saying regarding the first photo to be inclusive of the timestamp. I only recently discovered that you are able select the first photo, so I doubt most of the plebs will discover this feature moving forwards. It should simply be on all, doesn’t take much creativity 👍2 points -
A few years ago a friend of a friend bought one of these, definitely bulldog brand m4 type, but unsure of model, even though I'd warned him to speak to me before buying anything, he didn't listen, spent about £150 on what was being marketed as a "ready to play starter gun", & then played a few games. It went bang pretty soon after, I get asked would I look at it, but told him you'd be better returning it under warranty, can't remember the reason he then gave me but apparently returning it wasn't an option, so I agreed to have a look at it, repair if possible, failing that salvage whatever I could. He drops it round in a bag, remember at this point I've not seen it, & knew nothing about it. OMFG🤯 It was like a child's toy you'd buy for £15 at an obscure Sunday market, other than being m4 shaped it had nothing remotely like what we would call an m4, even the most basic rifle that the cheapest recognised manufacturers might sell looked like a systema in comparison. It didn't strip per se, just lots of screws up & down the body, & even though I was disgusted by it & was struggling to control the bile at the back of my throat, I went ahead & took it apart, in the forlorn hope I'd spot something simple that could be put right & not break this fellers heart, knowing what he'd paid. An hour later I told him to come & get it, handed him his bag & said sorry, couldn't be fixed, when he asked was anything salvageable I pointed that all the little screws were in a sandwich bag, & he might find a use for them one day, but everything else, even the mag & battery, should be binned & if he ever bought again without talking to me first, he was to delete my number from his contacts. Seriously, they are an abomination & should be banned from all insured sites & buyers neutered, it's the only way to reduce their numbers.2 points

Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread
Galvatron and one other reacted to Dogsbody100 for a topic
Sad to say some unlucky fool will buy it without doing their homework then realise they’ve been done big time after. Seems to me that’s what all these chancers are hoping for, just one fool is all it takes. I’ve always thought of Mack’s as a decent place to learn a lesson or two before buying, makes it indispensable not only for great hilarity but knowledge also.2 points -

Well that's a shame. I know alot of people like to crap on the place but tbh I never had any problems there (possibly because I went to midweek games). Thinking about it I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did, the rent alone must be bloody high considering the location2 points -
I actually managed to make a purchase the other day, finally! Someone I messaged a couple of weeks ago and heard nothing from, and once the updates came in I saw that the advert was 8 months old so I figured I'd not hear anything. Then out of the blue, I got a reply and eventually got it all done and dusted!2 points

Hi all. After a crappy two years of stressful life getting in the way, I'm coming back to airsofting in 2025 and also to these forums. I took out my stuff and gave it a good once over. Nice to see everything is working nicely. Really looking forward to 2025!1 point

Cyma SVD fps all over the place
The_Lord_Poncho reacted to Austeyr for a topic
Changed the bucking over to the original black one, still having FPS spikes albeit a LOT hotter, one of the shots chrono'd at 468 (On a .28g BB 😳) The hop unit is bolted to the back of the barrel so sits firmly against the gearbox, and has a large spring also pushing it against the gearbox too. I noticed the hop unit itself has some wobble on the top wheel which seems to be a common thing with these, so I'm going to try the mod shown here;1 point -

jk jk I think I last saw one of those a solid decade ago, had forgotten they even existed actually, cool find. Granted, I'd rather seen it on a Gen3 can't deny that lol, but with the vertical moulding it does blend with the lines on the 5 for sure; weirdly well in fact.1 point -

Austeyr reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
sounds like this might be a case of the ml longer feedlips and the gun saying no. i'd try swapping the bucking back to stock, if that fixes it then it's either trying to sand down the feed lips a smidge (which sadly often makes it worse unless you can get it real clean and square) or a different bucking. otherwise, time to look at the nozzle/cylinder head.1 point -

https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/rif-s/gas-powered_1/tokyo-marui-g18c-fully-upgraded_i63929 "Fully upgraded", apparently. No mention of the recoil and hammer spring upgrades No mention of the outer barrel being threaded for tracer units No mention of the nozzle or trigger assemblies Just one brand mentioned in the upgrades (Maple Leaf for the inner barrel, hop unit and presumably bucking) "NO TIME WASTERS OR DREAMERS." Righto. You want £450 but you have wasted time not itemising the upgrades to warrant that price?1 point

Hey all I hope I find you well. Some of you will know me some not. Many of you I have met. I'm somewhat of a dinosaur now. I spent some time hunting 80-90-2000s spring guns. It became quite an obsessive project. I never thought I would get rid of any of them but I've come to realise much of the thrill was in the hunt, and I let one go and it was nice to let it go to someone else to enjoy. I'm not sure what I want to get rid of some of you will have watched as I amassed it. There are so many it's very hard to list. If there's anything anyone is interested in do give me a shout.1 point

Not really. I can easily reach the first one on the right without too much trouble and it's generally the first magazine used unless I'm in the middle of a firefight, where I draw the two on the left first. 2nd mag on the right is definitely harder to reach but again, if I have time I don't mind faffing around a little bit to get it. Having all 4 mags on the left would be more convenient for reloads, but it would totally throw off the weight distribution, especially when I don't need to have a lot of stuff on me. This way I can keep things balanced and, most importantly, at hand. Except for the GPS, but that thing never comes out of its pouch when shooty shoot is expected and when I need to use it, it's clipped to the right suspender. For the record, in those flat utility pouches I have a multitool + screwdriver and bits on the right, notepad + map reading stuff (ruler, protractor, map) on the left, plus spare room for my vape + liquid and smaller bits and bobs, while food goes in the slightly larger pouch at the back. Mirror to the GPS pouch is a flapped double mag pouch for my radio and the wiring to my earpiece is threaded and taped to the left suspender, again I don't need to switch channels during a firefight. (Also didn't realise how grey my hair became 🥺😭)1 point

Technically, I've wanted a Tanaka for about 15 years. When I first started playing airsoft, in my eyes at least a Tanaka rifle was the bee-knees. They were rare, a weird choice, moderately expensive and also had this allure of some existing 'pre-ban'. Not Asahi M40 shell-ejecting rare, but still uncommon. What probably added to that, was that at the time when I was playing, there was a sniper at my local field who had one and he totally dominated with it (mostly because he worked nights doing security on empty warehouses, so he had unlimited access to a 100m+ wind free range). I wanted one then but I never found quite what I was after, then airsoft fell by the wayside and I forgot all about them. Having restarted this year, I had a trip down memory lane and an old Facebook post reminded me of my lust for Tanakas. But finding them is even tougher these days - mostly because people who have them don't want to part with them. Chatting about Tanakas with a sniper at Battle Lakes a couple of months back and he mentioned he had a couple - one he found and one a mate sold to him when he gave up. When I saw him last week, he said he'd given it some thought and he'd sell me one as it was sitting unused. So last night, I picked up a 'pre-ban' Tanaka M700 and a few mags. Now just to wait for some good weather but hopefully not 15 years.1 point
