    Ollie Talks Airsoft

This is so sad, watched his video’s often, even messaged him a few times, always helpful, always pleasant, he will be missed by us GBB fans. Not forgotten though. I wish him peace and love, and hope he proves that 3 month diagnosis wrong.

  2. I use three weights in my pistols- 0.2s for the hicapas indoors - where speed to target matters more than range and, well, they are cheapest! 0.25 in the Glock 19 used as a secondary when i'm running a DMR in woodland (usually gets drawn and used in anger 3 or 4 times per game) - a little more rage and 'punch' to get through vegetation, but ultimately for that type of use, the DMR covers everything 25m plus, so range isn't that important, and .32s in the MK23 (other pronunciations are available, but ill advised) when it is used as a quiet secondary when I'm running the L96.

    Mag storage...

I have one or two spare mags that get dumped into an ikea type storage box & was looking on fleabay last week thinking I could buy some ammo boxes to store them all a bit better. Long story short, I dragged them all out to see how many spare mags I had & which types, took a piccie to post on here and realised that I don't need any ammo boxes... I have webbing hanging all over my mancave with ready made pouches. only got around 6 spares without a home now (mainly a couple of AK & some Galil mags). 420490325_912386320124823_669653446712038612_n.mp4

  4. I'm on board with this. Yes you can lob 0.48's from a pistol at 0.75j if you're trying hard enough, and yes the range and accuracy is hilarious. But realistically, can most people shoot a handgun in the skirmish environment well enough to make use of that? what you're trading for it is extra strain on the components, particularly the nozzle bulging or even bursting when subjected to regular doses of the heavies..

I just use 0.2 as the pistol only gets used in buildings. Do some testing with different weights to see what works best in your pistols...

  6. OK say we're talking standard GBBP's as supposed to highly upgraded EmKay-23's.... Do you really want to load your pistol mags up with 0.32+, to just unload them at the end of the day when it turns out you had little to no use for your pistol (like most woodland players). Additionally in those rare moments room breaching or whatever else may call for a Handgun Hero, you're likely shooting at centre mass from 5 - 15m. Where exactly does the need for "range and accuracy" come into it? In fact when I was at South Coast CQB, I noticed heavier and slower BB's just gave that extra bit of time for the "enemy" to dive behind the ample cover. Don't forget these Tokyo Marui pistols we all readily recommend, were designed to be used with 0.20's. That being said, my pick would be 0.25 or 0.28's as the latter is my chosen weight for AEG's.

  7. On his 70th birthday, a man was given a gift certificate from his wife. The certificate was for consultation with a Native American medicine. man living on a nearby reservation who was rumoured to have a simple cure for erectile dysfunction. The husband went to the reservation and saw the medicine man. The old Indian gave him a potion and, with a grip on his shoulder, warned "This is a powerful medicine. You take only a teaspoonful, and then say: '1-2-3.' When you do, you will become more manly than you have ever been in your life, and you can perform for as long as you want." The man thanked the old Indian, and as he walked away, he turned and asked “How do I stop the medicine from working?" "Your partner must say ‘1-2-3-4,' he responded, "but when she does, the medicine will not work again until the next full moon." He was very eager to see if it worked so he went home, showered, shaved, took a spoonful of the medicine, and then invited his wife to join him in the bedroom. When she came in, he took off his clothes and said: "1-2 3!" Immediately, he was the manliest of men. His wife was excited and began throwing off her clothes, and asked: "What was the 1-2-3 for ?" And that, boys and girls, is why we should never end our sentences with a preposition, because we could end up with a dangling participle

As title really, which weight of bb is good for a gbbp? I'll be playing outdoor, mainly woodland, with some CQB too.

  9. That's what makes pistol kills feel better than most others though isn't it? The Whites of their eyes and the (usually) being the underdog victory. Quite looking forward to some pistol and shottie only games at the new place when it opens.

0.2's indoors 'cos I've a ton of them I want to use up and 0.25's outdoors. When the 0.2's run out I'll just use 0.25's in everything, everywhere. At the distances I'm usually using a pistol I could pretty much use any BBs and the differences would be negligible.

  15. If it works with one mag but not another then I'd say the problem is with the magazine not the gun so you did the right thing ignoring whoever told you to butcher the gun. Unfortunately there's alot of idiots on places like reddit and faceache who think they're experts but in reality don't have a clue

    Daves Custom Delays.

The errant part arrived today, received a phone call from Dave himself yesterday morning, saying that the shipment had arrived. He even gave me free post, (I'd moved since placing my order and could no longer reasonably make it to the shop) I offered to pay the difference bit he declined. So, I would absolutely recommend or use DCA again in the future, but only for their UK in stock items. Unfortunately said item was an AK wooden stock, meant for a JG, with the part arriving being an SRC stock - no real fault of DCAs, they just get what they're given by the euro wholesaler, so it will require a bit of filing/trimming to fit. But it will finish the build. Matter resolved.

I go .28 in all my ordinary sub 350fps skirmish guns. Keeps things simple and it's a happy average of price and overall performance. There's little difference in speed to target against lighter ammo because it keeps it's velocity for longer over range.

  21. I hardly ever pull my pistol out of its holster, I only carry it due to engagement distances Me being a lardy, I seem to get taken out of the game before I’m close enough! My faithful tm g17 & emg hi capa, both work fine with .28’s My EmmmmmKaaaay - 23 which was heavily modified, would overhop anything below .4’s!! ( @The_Lord_Poncho )😲

My 416 DMR build overhops 0.3g. 0.28g and above should do nicely. Depends on you fps for what weight. Mine still shoots 0.3g bbs at 330fps. You'll find bit of joule creep with GBBRs.

I tend to just use whatever is in my primary so that's .28g for woodland and .20g for cqb then adjust the hop up accordingly.

  24. .25/.28/.3. It's whatever I'm using in my aeg. That said, the pistol is a secondary and might have to act as your sole arm if the aeg has a (prob temp) malfunction. In that case you might wish that you had loaded .42s. I'll say it again though. I have never actually used my pistol in a game in anger as it were. I have pulled it when hiding or crouched really low, but never used it as I've never been spotted. N.B. I do play mainly themed games where a pistol is surplus to requirements.

  25. If you feel that they're a gimmick then they're not the gun for you. I use mine when I know I have one shot - or I need to make that one shot count*. Its certainly not a close up or speedball weapon. I find its more suited to woodland - if I need to dump the AEG for maneuverability speed - such as getting into a trench or building - then its the 1911/2011 (and a BFG). Also makes a great last ditch backup. I think it also matters that where you're playing is good on "hot" guns. The rules on my Redhawk are the same as for any other gun - we chrono (currently piss poor) then I know - but even now I only ever use it at more than minimum engagement distance. I don't go out to hurt FFS. There's not really anything to be gained in using one which gets around the shell reloads - they're all more accurate single action - and its a slower more thoughtful rate of play. I guess what I'm trying to say is they're more like pocket snipers but slower? WRT to Tanaka's they have all the disadvantages of a revolver but none of the advantages of the shell loaders. (Please correct me - it has been - 15 years - since I tried a non SAA one!) I've owned and skirmished with 2 6 shots (a 6 inch M29 and a modded M629 full metal Zeke body) as well as handled and shot a lot of them. All of them (Pegasus 2) were horribly inaccurate at anything more than 10m - sometimes 5m - on green. The FPS varied wildly from <pointless to >400 with a .20 BB on propane (green) and were OK at springer range on duster gas. Its worth mentioning that I used it at sites which didn't have an issue with potentially this powerful being used at its effective range .... it couldn't hit a barn door. I say it - BB's would go vertical, horizontal, fucknowswotal .... and occasionally straight. The exception to this are their (or were) SAA's. I've owned two - one I still own. The first was the "fast draw special" which put out around 340 on green but the fixed hop worked great with 0.25's. The second is the removable cyclinder artilery (basically a six inch barrel) but I've buggered up the cylinder - long story but I'll see if anyone can help me fix it. This was around 320 with 0.2's - which the hop worked with. The SAA's were really consistent. I've now ordered a 6 Inch DW 715 (yeh well, what's the worst ....) so I'll let you know. Only because I know at some point I'll break my Redhawk - and I love having something for when you can definitely get a kill - or need it with style

  26. I've been in-store at Bespoke Airsoft. The shop is pretty good and they are planning to move to larger premises soon (with much better parking) near High Wycombe. Only Airsoft/Combat UK in Stevenage is easy to get to with plenty of parking nearby and has a lot of RIFs on display in store. They also have a shooting range.

  27. I'm moving to 0.28g as one of my pistols won't lift heavier though I'm phasing out my supply of 0.25g. My Mk23 can lift 0.36g easily if I want distance and low noise but I've been lucky not to have such windy days that 0.28g were blown away easily. Similar to what Impulse said, 0.28/0.32g is that sweet spot of cost vs benefit for me.

I would never run heavier than .32s, but my answer is basically to mirror the ammo you use in something else so you don't have to buy different ammo types. People always talk about muzzle energy, but the heavier you go at the same muzzle energy, the higher the momentum goes (which is why it sucks getting point blanked by heavy BBs, even at 1.1J). Looking at momentum, a .2 has 70.1 gram ft/s and a .32 has 88.6 gram ft/s and a .48 has 108.5 gram ft/s at 1.14J, just to give you a frame of reference. I think all of my pistol builds can hop .48s if I really wanted to, but I stick to .32s as that's what I stick in my 1.1J builds while playing in woodland (which my local sites are) since I play like a sniper, even with my 1.1J builds, and .32s are where I find the cost/benefit ratio is best. Heavier than .32s the BBs start getting exponentially more expensive. I also tend to run guns with a 30m MED more often than not, so I tend to use my pistol a lot at around 20m. Also, you're typically using a pistol for closer engagements, so most of your shots won't be that far off. Either you're mid-reload and someone's pushing you and you have to fight them off with the pistol, or you're going into a structure or clearing a barricade, that kind of thing.

  29. Depending on your specific location, Super5ives in Portsmouth ought to be within 2 hour. They have just relocated to bigger premises https://www.facebook.com/Super5ives I don’t think that they have posted up their ‘full’ relaunch date yet, which should be in the Spring - when that is fully there should be more to cast your eyes over in the showroom.

  30. My son was busy with his friends so I was 'Billy no mates' at Dogtag last Sunday. Ironically he got me started in this to spend more time together LOL. I was a bit uncomfortable being on my own but once that first BB fly's past your head, all that goes out the window... This was the first time I've played a game with a proper objective which was get a pilot and fuel to the Helicopter. It was great fun and knowing there's a time limit really puts some pressure on. I'm starting to use concealment and using the bushes as cover, Rhododendron's work really well with DPM! Really impressed with my new over glasses Herosharks. Roll on next weekend!

  32. So I decided to pay a visit to the tunnels at Epsom yesterday and it definitely managed to scratch a cqb itch. Numbers were lower than I was expecting at between 10 and 15 players in total but to me that made it better as it meant there was room to move and every doorway or corner wasn't a choke point. Hit taking was excellent with none problems or whining I'd noticed had started to get worse at my previous regular site. All in all I'll definitely be going back

  34. Braved the wind for the first skirmish day of the year at Imperium. Luckily the wind wasn't too bad with most of the chosen playing areas sheltered by trees/terrain. Low numbers for the site, at about 40 pax. A few father/son duos which is always nice to see. Relatively slow start to the morning, with the first game not starting until just after 10:30. Especially when the safety kicks off around 09:00. 2 games either side of lunch, and considering the wind and cold meaning more layers worn, hit taking wasn't too bad. With a few but not many complaints and not extra briefings from the Marshall. Good play with quite a few "kills" pushing positions or getting sneaky flanks. The only point of contention was the use of one player's 'riot' shield. It kind of unbalanced a capture the flag game. Especially with said player declaring they couldn't feel below the shield leg shots because of padding. And the shield seemingly impervious to pyro - it was briefed at the beginning to be bb resistant only. Overall good day, but as always I would recommend the "ground war" days at Imperium, mainly because skirmish days are like herding cats. The next ground war is on the 4th of Feb, may see some of you there.

  35. A fairly productive weekend - a DPM sleeve to cover the red HPA hose that I've recently picked up, a couple of white medic arm bands made from an old T-shirt, A mini internal dump pouch to velcro inside of my chest rig pouch and to use for sorting out empty shot gun shells from full ones, and finally an el-cheapo hydration pack from aliexpress for my HPA bottle (turned up less than 5 days after ordering - a record!) sprayed up to tone it down a little.

    Double Bell SR25 review.

Hello all, this is my first post here and I thought I would share my new AEG turned DMR, the Double Bell SR25 (this one) I haven't really seen any reviews or videos on their SR25 so I thought I would share my thoughts on what I like and don't. First off the build quality. Surprisingly pretty good for how much the gun cost. Everything feels sturdy and well made, no wobble and a comfortable pistol grip. The only thing that felt SUPER cheap and got instantly replaced was the solid stock. It felt way to fragile, one drop or hard knock and it could shatter kind of fragile. Another bad point is the stock motor, I fired the gun 4 times through my chrono for a stock reading and the gearbox locked up. Now this could of been due to the fact that the gun is locked to semi-only by bespoke with the selector plate but it didn't matter as the gearbox was going to be opened anyway. The gun has a quick spring change like the Cyma platinum series. Just removed the stock and twist the spring guide until it pops out, simple! Internally it has a V2.5 SRS gearbox which is a bonus! It has standard ok gears which I replaced, the nozzle was metal with an o-ring and the piston had steel rack teeth with a decent bearing head, the cylinder was ported which I also replaced along with the cylinder head. The air seal however from stock was REALLY good. So far impressed. My piston had the 19 teeth but it was exactly like the picture above. Now some issues, I had to send the gun to a local tech as It was causing a massive head ache, it turns out the stock cylinder is smaller then the replacement non-ported SR25 cylinders. Double Bell SR-25 Cylinder SHS SR25 Non-Ported Cylinder With a bit of modification he got the cylinder in with the gearbox closed. The Front of the gun you have a 420mm brass 6.02 inner barrel (the websites say 500mm, well its not) and a rotary hop up chamber, it felt a bit cheap so I replaced it. New parts inside of the gun. SHS SR25 Gears with perfect shimming. SHS Non-ported Cylinder SHS V2 Cylinder head Perun AB++ mosfet XT 22TA high torque motor XT M130 spring Stock piston Stock nozzle ZCI Rotary hop up chamber Maple Leaf 6.02 410mm inner barrel Maple Leaf MR Hop 70 Maple Leaf Omega nub I'm using a 9.9v LIFE battery. I replaced the cheap feeling hollow stock with a Cyma SR-25 solid stock, it only needed to be slightly shaved on the bottom of the stock to fit. The finished product. I'm using 0.32's and I'm getting 341-343 fps. Perfect for my site! I'm pretty happy with the build, I'll be using it for the first time this Sunday hopefully with no cock ups!

  40. First of all, it solves the smoky Wolf problem, and second of all, because this thing is a hassle to transport and in fact if you don't have to transport it it might only cost 60 pounds. it not same thing, somky wolf due to a structural problem, tracer needed infrared sensing to detect if the BB shot had passed, and the infrared sensing failed after the smoke occurred. and the oil smoke will condensation in the tube it will seem like lacking oli. This new one i sell the sensor becomes vibration sensing in a way that you can use to dry fires at home. And this sensor has been tested and will not be triggered by other impacts.
