    Gun picture thread

Been a while since I even visited this thread, let alone posted a photo. Just packing the kit for tomorrow and thought there was something immensely satisfying about the compactness of my SCAR, and I thought it looked pretty boss from this angle too. So here's an unbelievably high quality shot from my toaster:

  2. Well I have my case just about finished for my Owen gun. It is a wooden box bought off amazon, lined internally with craft foam and externally with lots of different pictures relating to WW2 Australia (recruitment posters, newspaper clippings, photos, paintings) glued on with PVA. I then varnished it and replaced the flimsy hinges with T hinges and a hasp and staple. I am still debating handles or lee enfield sling loops (I will have to carry a sling anyway so why not use it to carry the box). I will try to have photo's next week, when I have the Owen gun.

  3. This is my G&G Short Raider yall have heard so much about. Hopefully won't be too hot for The Mall tomorrow... Got a Rogers SuperStoc, Safariland torch, Safariland Single Point Harness & Adapter, some generic green laser sight with a pressure pad, a B&T tracer unit/silencer, and a short DBoys M203 on this gun. Also included is a pic of my gun bag with my primary, the Raider, as well as my secondaries; a WE P226 and G17. My backups there include two ACM guns, an MP40 (really going along to chronograph, won't use it) and a P90.

  8. Although all the posts are 'display' based, the title does include transport, so here is my packed gun case (Hopefully I can twist the other halves arm around to letting me have a display area - until then, its all stuff in a wardrobe

  20. I bought a plastic peg-board & tubs kit a while back but didn't get round to attaching it to a wall - this thread has finally guilted me into pulling my finger out: ...although this is actually only half of it: there's another back board & more tubs but i ran out of rawlplugs and motivation For the moment i've just tossed a bunch of stuff that was lying around on my desk into it, but when I fit the 2nd board above this, I will have a major boost to the tidiness and efficiency of my gun teching efforts. I'm tempted to buy a few of the back boards to use to attach my guns to a wall in my back bedroom too, so I can use the same tubs for accessories, but that will depend on whether ordinary peg board hooks will fit into the holes... So, Undieing_Lust, what diameter is the steel rod your hooks are made from, please?

  21. Guys thanks for the help, it was all invaluable i went through all the things you suggested and I think samurai and bright candle maybe right, tinkered about today with the gearbox and I have found that when the grip casing is on it restricts trigger movement but if I push the trigger to the right it fires perfectly, when released it wont fire. I think I am going to be looking at the casing with a file and opening the gearbox again to check those plates out for a better connection. Really appreciate all your wisdom and I will let you know how it works out.

  23. Well the good news is I now have my clearance, but its been a painful experience all round. Rather ironic that this sort of view forces so many of us to 'hide' our hobby to protect our jobs as shown by the posts above. Since I would have thought a security check that finds I have a 'hidden' life would be concerning than one that shows I am open honest person who happens to play a game with RIF's. Thanks for all the views and the supportive PM's, they made the difference and let me keep my sanity.

But wait, there's more! The VSR I have has always had on and off minor feeding issues. I traced it to the nub which presses on a BB release button on the mag, pretty obvious. I always thought it was to do with adjusting the front stock screw and the mag catch spring. One day,all the issues went away after re assembling but cropped up again during sunday's game. It became clear that the nub was not applying enough pressure to release BBs. So I cut a small shim out of tin and glued it on the nub. All issues gone, mag no longer gets stuck, now falls free. If anyone else is having issues with their vsr about feeding or mags getting hard to take out give this fix a whirl. Very simple, steady hand and tweezers do the trick.

A bit of in field "upgrading". Started bucketing rain in Bellurgan so I had to throw on some extremely impractical work gloves on instead of fingerless ones. VSR mag catch is already a bollocks to operate and impossible with gloves on,so I dug into my pack, pulled out a pen, knife and some glue. Cut the bellend of the pen off and glued it on the catch. Viola,no need to stretch my rectum and my wallet for PDi

  27. Just locked out your Facebook problem solved. I don't have any work colleagues on my Facebook or anyone who relates to the business I work for. Everyone I work with knows what I do and some of my clients do as well and it's a talking point. My personal opinion and what I say to people who see a pic or pics of me in my load out and don't like it............ Don't F**KING look then Duh. It's not a sackable offence wearing a load out nor is it one to have a pic of you at a gun range in the States. What you do in your personal time is your time not the companies time.

  28. No different to a company checking out a person's Facebook page before deciding to employ them or not in my view, I think it's fair enough. It's a pain yes but a lot of people in the country don't like anything gun-shaped, so always something worth keeping on the quiet side, or at least changing the privacy settings to keep hidden.

  29. Thanks, I cant go into my profession as I don't want anyone to link this back to anyone involved, although ironically its not related to the guys I work for who have been great, its a tenuous link to say the least with a potential supplier. Pain not being able to go into detail, but its looking like someone who is just uninitiated in the ways of airsoft and just doesn't like 'guns'. They may have good personal reasons, but I dont think that should have a professional bearing. I have written a careful and gentle introduction on what it is, how its legal and how we play including 'loadouts' that I hope will resolve the concerns. I think I can say I don't work with the general public or public facing (not that they should be hunting my personal photo's down either), so this check should be more about someones ability to coerce me or illegal activity than anything else. Its not like I am ashamed of any of my pics, nor could any of them imply any threat to anyone or have any hold over me. I have chosen to take down all images for my own sanity, but I am concerned on the precedent here. So I suppose this is as much a warning to my fellow players who work in the business world, be very careful what you post with a 'Public' view tag. This includes backgrounds, profile pics (both of which are always public) and potentially posts from other airsofters. This is liable only to get worse as we go on, I wish I had the ability to be a fighter for freedom of speech but I have taken the cowards way out. Some may say its a sensible one, but its still something I do with a heavy heart.

  30. Difficult to say whether it could be regarded as unprofessional if we don't know what the profession is, and you do also mention some kind of 'clearance' issue too. For example, if you were a bereavement counsellor or an undertaker, I could see how publicly available pictures of you dressed in combat gear with a rifle might be regarded as unprofessional if they could easily be located by some kind of work connection, since you could end up having to deal with someone who had a friend or relative who had been killed in a war or something like that, so it would not exactly be very sensitive of somebody to be dressed up like Rambo under those circumstances. On the other hand, I think most would regard Facebook as your own personal business, and if somebody I'd dealt with at work looked me up on Facebook and saw pics of me dressed in combat gear and got upset about it, I'd say that's their tough luck really, since my Facebook page is bugger all to do with my work. Trouble is, much of employment law leaves employers to make up their own rules about what is acceptable behaviour, although if they start adding stuff after the fat that was not in your employment contract, then they might be on shaky ground with their complaint.
