  1. People who know me will likely know that I have a bit of a thing for The Embassy in Leicester. It's local, it's great to play in and the marshals are great. Unfortunately, the site is closing as the developers are now beginning building work. Last game is 24th May. Today, First and Only announced a new site in Leicester. The Towers Hospital. 1.2 Million square foot of CQB in an old hospital built in the late 1800s. It looks like it could be exactly what I was looking for and it's within walking distance of my house! https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.649345,-1.0879325,646m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

  3. Woah.... This thread needs a serious update Latest thing I've gotten is a genuine oakley carabiner in red to go only oshiboom. It's a lot easier to pull the pin (especially when using gloves or when in a hurry) and you are a lot less likely to lose the pin this way also. A lot more to come update wise when I get a chance

  4. Just pick stuff up, i spend/waste a lot of time on the internet and have a large number of forums and news sites, both airsoft and real steel I check a few times a day and doing that for a few years makes bits rub off on you- just read through forums every couple of days and you'll pick up a fair bit, arnies and ukaz tend to have the best knowledge base of the UK forums. Zeroin you can look at but is filled with more idiots than sensible contributers.

  5. I worked on one quite recently actually. Lots of techno-babble ahead so I will try keep it simple. The Stock is atrocious quality. The plastic used feels very brittle and weak, like the shitty acrylic we use at school. It does not feels very secure, the latch mechanism was made out of pot metal & plastic so it may be fragile. It did have a concerning amount of wobble. Otherwise I did not detect any other major external issues aside from the stock,it felt rather solid, however the upper receiver is made out of a nasty feeling pot metal that's fairly heavy. Internals wise- Barrel and hop up unit are fails. Stock, the hop up unit was cast improperly so the gun had piss poor performance. Hop up units are fairly cheap and can be replaced. Wiring quality on the gearbox was poor as well. Gear set is a standard set of ACM full sintered gears, they are strong enough to last long on an m120 or m130 spring, but not amazing quality gears. Fairly noisy. The bushings were complete fails that grenaded themselves after minor usage. Piston was okay, not amazing but usable. Air seal parts are poor quality but usable with some new O rings. The one saving grace was the motor, the gun came with a Chaoli 22TPA torque monster motor which worked beautifully with the SHS high speed gear set i installed. The gun overall has some potential to be upgraded and work well but overall poor quality leaves a lot to be desired. It seems nobody can crack out a decent cheap SCAR. I'd go for an ICS sportline gun. Much better internally. G&G Combat machines are fairly good too.

    This gun any good?

The problem you're going to have is that guns like the SCAR are not as popular as M4s, AKs or G36s. As a result, the good ones tend to be pricier (the G&G SCAR-L for example is about £300). While I appreciate that you maybe want a gun that's a bit different from the crowd or because you have a particular weapon you enjoy from a game, as far as your first gun goes I would strongly suggest sticking with one of the three styles I mentioned. Mostly because you'll get a better gun for the money from a more reputable brand. For the money you're talking about you could get a very decent CYMA AK or a G&G Combat Machine.

  13. Another problem is power source. It seems to run on some form of chemical battery rather than the usual NiMH or a lipo. Its really low voltage electrically but it uses a chemical energy as well to drive the gears. You can't just leave it the cupboard either, you need to charge it everyday or it breaks and will never work again. It can come in a range of colours at least, from pink to brown. However there isn't a nice shiny metallic black option and if you bang it into something it damages really easily. They developed some self healing technology which deals with the vast majority of issues within a week which is really quite incredible but you do need to take care of it.

    Airsoft Electric Pistols ?

Waste of money in my opinion, they are trounced by any decent GBB pistol.

The boots and laces arrived. Not as yellow as the picture made them look. Once you put the leather laces in them, the boots look spot on.

    airsoft blowing up?

I can actually remember how I got into airsoft. I had been playing paintball with a friend for his birthday and started to wonder what paintball would be like without a huge gas canister, and with more realistic guns. A few months later, I saw this bit of footage from a local site (linked below). I remember thinking: "Holy crap! I have to get into that!". Then I made the horrible error of buying from JustBBGuns, and now- two years and a couple hundred pounds later- I'm here.

    airsoft blowing up?

Yes thats what annoys me, its probably jealousy, but they havent and dont understand the pain, sweat and tears of getting your ukara and battling through the budget guns, and cheap clunky kit.

    airsoft blowing up?

He doesn't seem to understand the value of the guns & gear he's given either and he's usually given ridiculously high spec guns by retailers, such as airsoft GI, for absolutely free. That sort of unawareness and almost ignorance really annoys me

    Two-tone guns and tape...

I think what you're discovering Forest is just how confusing and confused the VCRA is! I'd suggest that the implication is that the 51% or more of the 'visible gun' must be one of the approved bright colours; after all if we start considering it as meaning that 51% of the gun should "be" the bright colour then no two tone out there is an IF unless the internal parts of the gun are also painted a bright colour. It's like people saying that 66% of the world is water when it's actually much less than 1%, it's just the surface that is covered in water. If that makes sense! Either way, you're wise enough to play it safe if you really don't want any possible problems.

    airsoft blowing up?

Just thought, yogscast recently did a ww2 video in which they use airsoft guns. Wouldn't be surprised if that introduced a few new players. I don't really like lvlcap's airsoft videos. He seems to act like he knows more than he actually does. Probably the crap GI feed him

    airsoft blowing up?

For me I was looking to go paintballing for my birthday with a bunch of friends. While searching for a site I seen airsofting and thought that it was a lot cheaper. Out of the 8 of us that went I was the only one to return and have been playing 4 years now. The site I play at is very popular bringing in around 50 people average a weekend and a hell of a lot of rentals.

    airsoft blowing up?

We get a lot of new airsofters down south- the facilities are there as many sites round me do U18 game days- however because of this influx there are more kids who turn up with JBBG special 2tones, who then need re-education in professional airsoft consumerism.

    Scar L or H?

I have a SCAR-L and it's great. As above though if you want a good gun that you can buy mags and pouches for easily go for the L, if you want the look and US SOCOM appeal, get the H. Black Death has a black SCAR H TM Recoil and it looks the absolute dogs danglies. Check out the photos from the field thread to see what I mean!

  30. Just caught up with this thread, some hilarious and some scary posts lol! I've never used JBBG and doubt I ever would but there are a couple of comments I would make: my interest in airsoft guns started in the late 1980s with LS 1:1 scale plastic kits of 1911s, Berettas etc for about £15, and M16s for about £30 in my local toy & model shop. These were decent replicas (for their time) with full trade marks which built up into firing BB guns. Then ready made guns appeared by names such as "Gunze Sangyo" which were slightly dearer. So far all these were single shot springers with no Hop up, sold pretty much as toys, by toy/hobby shops, and made for garden plinking. I remember one seriously expensive purchase around 1989 was a Marui H&K G3 springer (still all plastic and no hop up!) which cost my weeks wages of £90! Then came some gas NBBs and eventually AEGs and GBB pistols from Marui, Maruzen etc at ever higher prices. Still aimed as plinkers initially until the idea of skirmishing in the UK got off the ground and Hop up started to be fitted to AEGs etc (praise the Lord!). My point is my interest in airsoft came about from cheap garden plinkers, as I'm sure it has for many. Now as then, some manufacturers make different grades of guns for different budgets and uses eg I have a Cyma CM.023 (MP5A5) "AEG" which was bought from a market trader, brand new, boxed & sealed in cellophane, for £25 in 2005, complete with battery, charger, 2 mags, suppressor and 'aimpoint style" scope and mount, plus adjustable hop. This gun was total crap, as I half expected; plastic gearbox, gears, in fact plastic everything apart from the stock rails, 200FPS and nothing compatible with ANY upgrade parts! But ok as my kids garden plinker. (Annoyingly it still works, functions better than some "pro airsoft MP5s" in that the fire selector works properly 100% of the time, it has a high rate of fire and the mag feeds every last round grrrrrrr DOH!). Nowadays however Cyma make some decent guns, not perfect sure, but they are getting better (I have the full metal Galil SAR and M16A3, both cost about half what a King arms or G&P would, and upgraded a few parts (because I'm budget conscious and enjoy tinkering with AEG gearboxes), and they are now decent, reliable skirmish guns. Likewise SRC do make some quite decent AEGs, but it may be possible they also make cheaper ones specifically for the likes of JBBG to sell to the plinkers (as I was all those years ago)? So its horses for courses. Anyway point being the advertising needs to be really specific as to the intended use ie plinking OR skirmishing. If its not then buy from somewhere reputable that gives full details like is it a "full metal V2 gearbox with steel gears" etc. If lies are clearly made about it then AVOID THE SITE, or better still if its flagrant and this can be proved then tell Trading Standards department. Likewise if the customer service is poo. It is admittedly of course, a fact of life that every shop, site, gun and accessory will be viewed differently by different people and herein lies the biggest problem to noobs looking for advice on what gun and where to buy. It is a very individual perspective. I would always say to anyone starting out in AIRSOFT to visit an AIRSOFT shop rather than order online from the cheapest supplier and get a feel for different guns and manufacturers, and also chat to people on the forum & ideally play at their local skirmish site with hired or borrowed guns, decide what works for YOU and get UKARA registered BEFORE parting with cash.

  33. I dont think that last bit is correct. Its the purchasing that is the offence, ownership is perfectly legal and requires no defense. Regardless, many law officials have announced the VCRA un-enforcable and most officers won't have the first clue what airsoft is let alone the laws regarding it. As long as he's using the RIF for airsoft and airsoft only I dont see why any police would get involved or know he even owns it lol.
