I joined the ever-growing AAP owners recently, and treated myself to the AA hop unit. Paired it with a 130mm ZCI barrel from @ak2m4 So I can replace the whole hop & barrel in one go, and keep the original set up if needed. Currently using a flamingo V2, but I've also got a couple of maple leaf buckings on order too. (I thought I had some more spare, but obviously not). Can't wait to get out & use it next weekend!

You can do. I put a small bit of lithium grease on the outside of mine.

No, it shouldn't vary by more than a few FPS really, so there must be a leak somewhere. I'd check the piston & cylinder section first. Unscrew the outer barrel and take the trigger, receiver & cylinder. Cock it it, then cover up the cylinder head with your thumb or something. The piston should stop partway if your seal is good, but if not it'll release all the way. If it's bad, fix that then try again until sorted, reassemble & re-chrono to test the consistency. If the air seal is good but you're still getting a wide range then look at the hop unit and barrel to fix any leaks there.

Leave it on if possible. It's an air brake, it's for making shots quieter.

You said you ordered a new hop unit and barrel set up didn't you? If so, there's not really any reason not to replace it. Just don't disassemble the stock hop & barrel set - up and leave it in the box the gun came in. That way you'll be good if you want to compare. You can leave the cylinder set up as it is for now, and see what kind of power & performance you get. The outer barrel on the MK23 should just come off, although it will be a bit tight. A thumbnail or watch screwdriver to start it off and it should come if needed, though you should be able to slide it off by hand. I'd leave the two small screws on until you've done that though, just in case it comes apart & you drop/lose some of the bits inside.

I'd get an Omega nub too, sometimes the panthera nubs don't work as well, so best to have both. I'd order a lower powered spring too, just in case.

Honestly, It's down to personal preference; the length of it doesn't make that much of a difference; I've got friends experimenting with stubby (220mm) barrels on their Tanaka M700s paired with a fancy scope system to try and push out to 150m shots (See @Hunteering on instagram) with reasonable results. If I were buying new I'd go with the shorty, just for maneuverability and making it easier to fit in my case; but I bought second hand which is why I ended up with the long version (428mm inner) As we can't get out to play, I would run it stock for now; just to see how well it shoots. But for later, Barrel-wise, something like a PDI 6.05, lambda 6.05, ML Crazy-Jets are all good brand barrels; there's also EDGI, and Airsoft Philosopher if you want to spend even more; though I've not owned either of those myself so can't say 100%; only going off reviews and friend's Rifles. The Orange piston is correct; the 90 degree. 👍 Power of spring will be trial and error with your set-up; an m150 might be too powerful depending on air seal and what else you go with; I *think* I use an M145 for 2.2J on a 0.45, but can't remember. Buckings are personal preference; no one choice is best, so it's up to you to experiment and see. I've got a V1 flamingo, ML Omega nub & PDI barrel in my VSR, and I've just replaced the flamingo in my T10 with a Maple leaf 60 degree MR hop paired with a Stalker panthera Nub & Crazy Jet; but as we're locked down I've no way to test how it runs unfortunately.

I've got a T10, and it's a good alternative. It is VSR compatible; I swapped out the guts from my Cyma 701 and they all went in no problem and work well. The fake magwell for storing a magazine is very handy, and having a straight, non-tapered outer barrel (Same ID as a G-spec) makes it better for adding barrel spacers than a VSR pro style. It's running with an AA hop unit and AA teflon cylinder, with the laylax Zero piston. (it comes with a 90 degree trigger as standard, so you save money there; despite the higher initial price of a T10 compared to a TM or clone VSR-10).

Is there anywhere airsoft-related (or similar) you'd recommend visiting?
I know of Wolf Armouries, and I'm flying there & back, so won't be able to buy anything gun-like, but wouldn't mind a browse, or a short shoot; be it on a range or a game.
What is there? -

It's a fairly large site - old abandoned WW2 RAF training ground. It's got 5 main areas of contact between the two teams, so at 120, that's 60 on each team, split across the 5 areas which takes it down to 12 per squad, minus 4 on each who are doddling back to respawn, so each little concentrated battle only becomes 8 on 8 (give or take, the Grasslands area usually has a little more as it's a larger space).
Parking is tricky though!

Despite all the slagging they get; I honestly can't fault OnlyBBguns for this order.
Lone UK stockist (that I could find) Over 20% less than the usuall RRP, free delivery & arrived the day after it was posted.
Still feel a bit dirty though!

They are the better of 3 x well known BB shop muppets
still a bit mickey mouse but like you say if you know what you want and they have it then it is worth a look.
Most of their stuff is 2-tone as they mainly sell to newcomers
but even then bought a few bits off them in the past and all good
even a 2-tone non blowback m92 wasn't bad for £30 - 10% discount delivered.
Despite the newbie beginner shop - good to support some local shops now n then I guess
wouldn't catch me recommending JBBG

Dear Lord I can't believe I'm even considering it...but how are OnlyBBguns for delivery?
I know; I wouldn't even think about using them normally; but they're the only place I can find what I'm after in stock, and the item itself is actually a decent product; is it worth it, or are they con-artists?

I'm not sure if anyone stocks them on their own. However, Ares is supposedly good for supplying spare parts if you contact them directly. Failing that, give OPs-7 in Sheffield a bell and ask for Sam; I've spoken to him in the past and he said they *might* be able to sort them; though I think they just contact Ares and get them off them; so speaking directly to them might be as easy.
