  1. This is why I write "EN166B" on my home-made eye-pro, to ensure that it meets all safety standards.

    Airsoft Blasphemy

I think anyone who played before and through 2007 would agree with you there. If you want to play like this, why not just play paintball? They've been doing this for ages

    Dangerous eye protection

Another set of non compliant goggles / eye protection identified by site staff I know that I’m preaching to the converted, but keep your eyes out for new players with their ‘nice cheap’ Temu/AliExpress/eBay goggles Observant site staff noted these ones https://www.facebook.com/share/12CBYwpEZa8/?mibextid=WC7FNe

  6. This is the logic i employ too when i have inexperienced mates and their kids coming airsofting with me - I always lend them full masks, with mesh goggles so they aren't tempted to lift them mid game to wipe away the fog. I appreciate that mesh has its drawbacks, but I have concluded the likelihood of a BB fragmenting AND having enough retained velocity for the particles to do some damage on the other side of the mesh is much lower than the likelihood of the mask being lifted by a young kid due to fogging.

  7. Is it not implied by calling it a "Paintball Mask" it is fit for purpose and use? For instance to sell something and call it "Bicycle Helmet" it needs to carry the CE mark and be fit for use.

  8. The draw from Paintball back in the day was the realism of the toys used combined with almost losing them back in 2007 makes this stuff almost sacrileges for me.

  9. Same with motorcycle gear since 2018, although it's widely ignored and I doubt that it's ever enforced. I'd say "This is another reason to have a national body, be recognised as a sport, and have well defined minimum standards", but... ... often to be seen on marshals and site owners. I've even fingered someone for wearing non-protective sunglasses at chrono, and had a site runner just shrug it off as "their risk". That's why it's remarkable to see site that is taking eyepro seriously. Good for them.

  10. You would probably get quicker sales, and ultimately make more if you were to list separately, or as a minimum bundle similar items (e.g. your M4 mags) into smaller bundles to sell. Very few potential customers are going to want everything in your complete bundle, so in order to make the purchase worthwhile to them, they would be looking to sell the unwanted items on at a profit. All of that adds up to less money for you if you don't separate it out.

  11. That certainly appears to be the opinion of some sites. But there is a duty of care with the site - the disclaimers do not remove any duty of care. This channel has a good series of site safety / insurance videos. Its from the land of litigation and focuses on paintball (and flags implications of multi activities) but covers the issue of waivers being worthless if you don’t think ahead and assess/mitigate/minimise risks It could be taken as implied - but ‘buyer beware’ is a valid legal argument, headline titles may or may not be taken as a safety claim Not to mention overseas goods not falling within domestic legislation - and the importer being responsible for imports Not much help when you don’t have an eye (Back in the days of a long gone US forum there was a member who went by the name OneEye - his story was pinned to the safety section)

  12. I do agree with the logic. In the event of an incident I can't help worry that a sites reputation, insurances, and a whole load of other more human factors could conspire to screw a site over - we already know that many are run on rather marginal grounds, which is why I'm surprised than most don't have a full seal rule.

  13. Saw this on FB - thankfully the Ambush Activites/Super5ives guys (and girls) are old school paintball that have moved into Airsoft and picked up on these very quickly. I wouldn't play BBwarz with anything less than full (legit rated) paintball goggles/mask these days - LARPing tacticool realz be damned.

  14. You have to be 18 to wear glasses. You signed your life (eye balls) away when you arrive if you choose to wear non full face in the designated game area. Being an adult you get to choose if you want to risk it for a biscuit. If by wearing glasses you put someone else's safety at risk it would be a different story but am very much "if what you do is not hurting anyone else and it makes you happy, crack on". What Tommikka posted is disgusting. Selling something marked as PPE when its in fact not is criminal.

  15. What makes it worse is that I've had so many examples of live players using dead players as cover. I've had people pinned behind a barricade wait for dead players to walk across where they're getting shot from (by me, watching them through my scope), and then move up using the dead players as cover. The only times I won't shoot are when someone is within my MED. I'm a decent shot and my rifles are obsessively tuned, so if I think I can hit the live players, I'll take the shot. However, nobody's perfect, and airsoft guns are nowhere near as precise as some people think they are, so I'll sometimes hit the dead players and it's not (entirely) their fault. Most people don't cause a fuss and will simply accelerate or step to the side, but a select few will. I've been "overshot" so many times when I've been hit, put my hand up, and stood up from my hidden position or exited the bush I was under. People get spooked when a ghillie suddenly appears out of seemingly nowhere and will sometimes unload on full auto in a panic And those select few are the ones I'll shoot on their way to respawn on purpose. I'm generally quite mellow and do my best to avoid shooting players who are already hit, but if you frequently lose your rag due to being shot when you're already dead and overreact and throw your toys out of the pram, you bet your bottom dollar I'm going to line up the shot through my scope and deliberately shoot you in the arse when you're walking back to respawn ?

    Airsoft Blasphemy

I thought it might be fun to share the blasphemous, cursed and downright wrong things we've seen on gamedays, websites or elsewhere While searching for an SVD supressor I came across this https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/magazine-adapter-svd-dragunov-to-m4-bolt-action-airsoft

  20. I try not to judge a man/woman/otherwise by immutable characteristics like their age, race, culture, lack of socio-economic status, skin pigmentation, physical/mental divergence, their (age appropriate) bedfellow(s) or their god(s). But turning up to a site with those is a choice, and you chose poorly....... Same with 2-toning something rare, dont care if you day-glo a common gat we all gotta work around the rules but you show up with a lime green ppsh and it's not a bit, well, that's a choice........

  21. I agree with The_Lord_Poncho Large bundles are notoriously difficult to sell for what you want and in a timely manner. You'll sooner see lowballers who'll flip what they don't want or timewasters than find genuine people meeting or coming close to your asking price.

  23. I had a look for the FMA F1 mask on Ali Express and it lived up to expectations. It mentioned being suitable for airsoft and paintball but the specs were predictably vague. The Engrish specs state the impact protection is up to 600 ft/s without saying the mass of the projectile so that 600 ft/s rating means sweet Fanny Adams. Sometimes what's not mentioned is crucial and that lends well to "buyer beware". No mention of EN166B, ANSI Z87+ or any worthy rating standard should be a big red flag. Unfortunately, we have the luxury of knowing what to look out for but Amazon Marketplace, Temu and Ali Express prey on the ignorance of newbies, especially parents who don't know what to look out for. You've also got to be wary of clones that falsely declare being compliant, unlike the real ones. You have to be. I gave a mate of mine bit of a bollocking when he'd walked just 10m into the game area and took his eye pro off as it was fogging up despite having had two safety briefings. He knows now either to ask for help from another player or a marshal to get back to the safe zone if he fogs up and can't see.

  25. Depending on the toy in question (regarding the quality of the metal used for the spring) and if you are going to the bother of removing the spring anyway I would invest in some threaded rod and 2 nuts. Compress the spring on the rod using the nuts and leave it for a week. I will be very surprised if this does not bring it down to the required power. I now do this myself as by cutting new springs in the past they then "bed in" and come in way under the power I was aiming for.

  26. Thinking of so many terrible answers. Must not troll. Only good answer is spring crop or changing the spring.

  28. Nah, personally I'm not convinced to be honest. Situations like this are inevitable - getting hit on the way back to respawn is frequently par for the course. Anyone who mouths off to other players when the inevitable thing happens are bringing bad attitude and aggression into game - there is no place for this type of behaviour. The shooting was an accident - we can debate all the factors as to why it happened or shouldn't have happened, but ultimately it wasn't a deliberate act. The unacceptable reaction from the player that got (over) shot was a deliberate act.

  29. Welcome! Glad to see another P90 user. It was both GoldenEye 007 and SG1 that persuaded me to buy into that airsoft platform. ?

  30. Which annoys me too There’s no official standard for airsoft face protection other than impact, whereas the paintball goggle standard goes into the various components / parts of the facemask including up/down via vents etc

The story and parts on this one would take up way too much space for a forum post, if anyone really wants to know here's a link to my own site. Very short version, this started as a basic af short M4 (KWA LM4c) in 2015, but I've only changed a few little bolt-on accessory bits since I took these pics in 2020.

  32. Yet every field I go to is quite happy to allow standard shooting glasses/non full seal safety glasses that are rated yet provide a clear line of sight to the wearers eyeballs from multiple oblique angles.....

  34. Valid points, my assumption was the desire to maximise range suggested that the OP was interested in shooting players further away, CQB doesn't always need precision hop setting (in fact I have seen not enough hop get use quite effectively!) But your point is very valid, we aren't playing to hurt each other.

  36. I completely agree with your comments about AP; it is a very well run site. The only parts of the site that we did not use were the woods, which was probably because they still need some work to make them safe, and the far end of the field at Swaziland, which is a bit of a dead area. Regarding the incident you describe, as John always says in the briefing, it is up to dead players to get out of the way. Accidents happen and vision is limited when you are looking through a scope. Calling out someone in that way is never appropriate.

@zizivertHere is a crude chart I made to work out what gas I want to use on a game day if useful, I'll always use ultair over nuprol due to the silcon but tbh I've not had issues with either and not noticed any effects. I always try to be around 125 but I've run anywhere from 100-140 ish no issues.

Oh, what brand, mister? I do fancy me an SD6. I've only got a tiddler, but it's what you do with it, or so I tell Mrs Borg. As a primary, it's more attachment than gun, twisted and evil. ... but also makes for a nice side piece when you're out and about with your main squeeze.
