    G3 Photo thread

I've wanted a G3 for the best part of 20 years, not sure why it's taken me this long to finally get one, and by one.. I mean a G3 and all the bits n bobs to claim five guns in one 😁 - such a modular system for it's time 😎 Started off life as a Classic Army G3SG1 Standard G3A3 config with the slim hand-guard, no rail up top, bare bones... still probably my favourite config (LCT hand-guard and stock added) : G3A4 with slim hand-guard: This is how I've currently got it setup... but where does the battery go? 🙃 Then we have the A4 with the wide hand-guard; with bipod in this case, technically making it the cod4 configuration I believe: Then the A3 with wide hand-guard - my least favourite config tbh: And then finally the G3SG1 : A few notes and ramblings on this project: By some measurements of an HK RIF this CA was a piece of crap - cocking lever made of literal margarine came flying off after maybe 5 slaps... wth is the point in having an HK replica if I can't slap the crap out of it. Anyway replaced that with a steel LCT cocking lever. slap slap slap slap... too many times a day 😏 - needed some minor modding to fit well with the CA cocking tube. The LCT furniture is NOT compatible with the CA (TM) style body and front set - both slim hand-guard and OD stock needed an annoying amount of dremeling and filing to get them to fit - but they did... eventually. LCT ribbed magazine also needed work - too tight of a fit for the CA metal body - filing of the shell needed as well as the well known fix for LCT mags - shim up from the bottom to raise the feed lips to get it to feed reliably. I've wired in a second battery harnesses through the receiver - one to the front for A4 and one to the back for A3 configs respectively. A4 stock mod 1 - added lock grooves all the way along the sliders to allow one inch increment stock position adjustments, the Original A4 stock had two positons, fully open or fully closed - I like to run mine 1-2 inches shorter than fully open: A4 stock mod 2 - I love the look of these, however they are quite uncomfortable as they sit into your collar bone, firing a real .308 off of one must be nasty. Replaced the hard rubber but pad with an inch of EVA foam cut to shape and screwed in using the original holes: I plan to add some sort of cheek riser/pad to the A4 system, thinking maybe canibolising an SVD one 🤔 Finally the most annoying mod I had to carry out was to excavate five tons of material out of the LCT slim hand-guard in order to fit a 1300mah 11.1v lipo inside around the barrel - but it's working great now and surprisingly is not that difficult to get the battery in.

  3. Visited a site up in fife, about 40 miles from me today Had the usual attack and defend and barrel games BUT They invented a game which was based on an orienteering task Split the two teams into teams of three They Issued orienteering cards with a map and places to “stamp” when you reached the point, along with each player getting 3 “life” cards So imagine everyone splitting off pronto at the start and ambushing at the stamp points, all over the place It was awesome!! The only downfall is it a very steep site, so lots of up and downs And now I’m buggered! But a good concept and imaginative 👍

  4. I tried to visit their shop earlier on in the year. According to the website they were open but, surprise surprise, they weren't.

Very cool, but... Any chance you could have all the mags facing all the same way in the triple mag pouch?

  7. Well if they can't be arsed to reply to, what I assume was a simple enquiry, then they obviously don't need or want your money.

    Boxes

Yeah, boxes are a nice bonus for me Three of my RIF’s I bought used , and I’d have liked them to make selling & shipping them easier

    Boxes

I keep all my boxes. I think it’s better if you’re eventually going to sell them as it’s a good selling point and makes postage easier. If you’re never going to sell them then you probably don’t need the boxes but it might make it easier for your kids if they eventually have to sell them. I guess it depends if you need the space in the shed. You could try offering them for sale. Some people might want a box for an existing RIF if they don’t have one.

  14. According to their reply to a review on Google they're online only. They might want to put that on their website rather than expecting people to be psychic In fact the more I look at this the more I'm convinced they've got no idea what they're doing

  15. I would if I’d bought new. However, it was 2nd hand with a bust box mag. It powers and wants to wind so suspect it’s the spring. Can’t find anything online

  20. Funnily enough going on to their website I see I had an item in the shopping basket with them. Not actually purchased anything, however their shipping page is comprehensive and well put together with clear indication they have no problems shipping to the UK - Added them onto the EU list 👍

  24. The MWS needs nothing doing to it OOB. You were probably getting jams through crap BBs. Try Geoffs - widely acknowledged as the best. GBBR needs better BBs than AEG peasants.

  26. Back when I was shooting at things and people for a living, I had the following setup: - a Jayjay's MC belt kit - a mesh vest with slanted MOLLE loops on the torso rather than the H-yoke. I had picked that config for field work when we were not issued the Osprey, and before being issued Virtus. And I had taken inspiration from former instructors who also had an airborne background and had attached a US woodland LBV-88 to their DPM PLCE belt kit. I've come full circle now.

My Umarex / WE GBBR. Shoots very well, has a loud crack and a decent recoil , capable of massivly over hopping .30's on the stock setup.. As with the rest of my WE GBBRs I've not had a single issue with it.

  30. I've been into airsoft for around 30 years, but have only got serious into collecting about 10 years. My job and family commitments haven't allowed me to play really much in the past so collecting was my only option which soon turned into my hobby! When I meet my now wife I explained to her about the sport and that they weren't really gun and she was OK with it as she calls them"toy guns" and let's me get on with it that's was until last month when she had to help me move them to our new home!!!! My new house had a garage which I'm converting into my gun room to home my ever growing collection which my wife now says after seeing it is" getting out of hand" which brings me onto the reason for the post.. how many guns people have in there collection and show us your collection.. Ps I have 150 and can't see me stopping!!
