  1. I thought it might be useful to have a phone mount on my plate carrier so that I can use the Ares Alpha app to see my location, that of the objectives etc. So I got myself a cheap mount from AliExpress that protects the phone and holds it securely in place (in landscape mode) on my chest. I can then simply open it up slightly, see my location on the map and close it again. And then I started testing it: To unlock my iPhone you swipe up from the bottom, however the mount has a strap over the phone to hold it in place and you can’t do it without sliding the phone out. ❌ Face ID on the iPhone only works if it can see your face but I’ll be wearing a mask. ❌ Ok I enable ‘unlock with Apple Watch’ but the phone will not do it when in landscape mode, only portrait mode ❌ So I enter a passcode but I would have to take off my gloves to do that ❌ When the phone is unlocked I can’t actually see anything as it is too close to my face and I would need to wear my reading glasses to see anything detailed. ❌ But apart from that it really works nicely😂

  2. Going down from 36 rifles and a majority bullpup collection to these 6 was quite difficult. But I am dead happy with it and they are P. Cool. 😉 E&L AKM LCT AMD-65 LCT AKMSU Silverback SRS TM MK23 TM FN-57 The only thing I might consider at this point is an LCT AMD-63 and a decent MP5SD2

  3. To be fair, I've just realised I started a map of my local site for that very reason...my bad. Still a working project tho as I don't play often enough to finish it.

  5. The app can show you the different points of interest e.g. for your objectives, show where your team mates are (if they are using the app), you can receive instructions from command etc (if that app is used at your site). So in theory it all sounded interesting to try out.

  6. I've been a first timer at a few sites where the briefings mention various points of interest/targets, & i didn't have a clue what they were refering to, you end up following regulars in the hope you'll get your bearings🤔

  8. bit of a round robin of airsoft retailers to buy some bits. CT25 from Zeroone as it was cheap due to the closing down sale. EMG loader from BZ as I'm lazy this fills all my mags without any problems new impact from JD which is lightweight compared to others I've used.

  13. Well, I reckon it would only take one faceplant to knacker it & even with my sluggish playing style I'd give it at least even odds.

  16. Read the rules mate, everything on the site needs a ballpark price, obviously you'll still get offers so maybe factor that in your price ?

  17. Was asked to knock up a Magpul style MP5 handguard as the real thing seems to be out of stock everywhere. It's not an exact copy but close enough I think. Top one is printed smooth in ABS and the bottom one in PLA using the Bambu labs fuzzy setting.

    Finding old friends

As you say, I have had and sold alot of guns in my time. Now I can only speak for a few. I know a few are still running, and a few have died and been split. The the one I'm most proud of, was last year at NAF. Saw a TM famas, chatted to the guy, turns out it was my old one. Now I bought this famas new around 1997-98. And it's still going!!!! Damn things are indestructible. The one that broke my heart, was my TM M14 EBR. This had the full G&P EBR kit, correct king arms Silencer, G&P knights mounts. Real harris bipod. All G&P mid cap mags with 7.62 magpuls. The works. A year later, saw it for sale on an old forum that disappeared years ago (UKAZ, if any one remembers that one). Turns out he didn't like the ebr kit, found it too heavy. So stripped and sold it all, and turned it back to the basic M14 socom. Wasn't long after, that was then being sold for spares as had cracked the body and some how blown the gearbox. But didn't want to repair it. And that's one of about 5 guns I ever regretted selling.

    Buying a GBBR from japan.

Overall a pretty good experience. I did need to call UPS when I realised they had the item on hold, this was not indicated in the tracking information. Once I spoke to an agent, they emailed me the customs declaration which I returned within an hour. After that it was plain sailing. I paid the fees on the 16th, it went for clearance on the 17th and was delivered on the 18th which is 9 days since I ordered. Ordered - 9th Shipped - 12th Arrived - 14th Clearance submitted - 16th Fees paid - 16th Clearance process - 17th Delivery - 18th Pistol - 117 Shipping - 36 Government fees - 34 Brockerage - 14 Total - 201 About 25% more expensive than purchasing locally if the item was available.

    Hi, new to airsoft!

Welcome. If you're just wanting a garden plinker then a 2 tone would fit your needs, however I can fully understand why you'd want a rif. Bunker 51 is on the list of sites I visit and I can confirm you can rent AEGs and pistols. In fact in cqb I'll usually run with a pistol for a main weapon. If you do go I suggest for one of the mid week games as the lower numbers make for a better day. If it's woodland games you're interested in then you're in luck as there's quite a few sites just outside the London area. Use the link posted by Edcase to find one nearest to you. If you don't want to commit to a full day then many sites will let you play just the morning for a lower price

    Hi, new to airsoft!

Ahoy and welcome. Sites almost universally rent out electric rifles, and run full days. There are a few smaller CQB sites that run evenings or half days, but they're relatively rare. CQB tends to have more shooting and less walking than woodland, but the hits sting more. Electric and gas, woodland and CQB, it's all great fun, in different ways. There's no right or wrong way to enjoy airsoft, and it's not worth overthinking it - just get to a site and see if it's for you.

  24. I did a woopsy Once you remove the base plate, open the tabs holding the magazine innards and push from the bottom it comes out easily after you have freed the grip the tabs have on it 👍

  31. Had a fun weekend at Stirling this weekend. First Stirling in a few years and good fun. I was running solo but was lucky to be attached to 1 troop although the takings really were the same as any other callsign. Lots of patroling and recce to build up a target package before conducting strikes into the village. It was really hard work as the tempo was high for a 36hr event and opfor fought incredibly hard with everywhere outside of the fob feeling like a hostile environment. If you have your admin on point and are comfortable being aggressive in a firefight then it really is worth giving it a try as they're really special events. Run TF if you're into sprinting into battle and opfor if you're looking for a more relaxed attitude to the game. Either way you'll be looked after.

  32. So I’ve had an AKX since the week it was released. As of yet, it hasn’t skipped a beat. The only “reliability” issues I’ve seen are so infrequent that it’s likely just bad luck. my trigger box arrived in a non-working condition. But it was just a spring that hasn’t been fitted properly. Took 5 minutes to fix. But I’m the only AKX owner I know of who’s actually had issues of any sort that aren’t related to modifications. I’m hopping 0.28s out to 45m and getting headshots. The hop dial is still down at below 50%. I reckon I could run far heavier bbs at longer range if need be. Upgrades that are absolutely necessary: - Bavtac/bowmaster/jaeger power down valve. upgrades I’d highly recommend - jaeger hop arm - pink flamingo hop rubber - Bowmaster 130% recoil spring - Magpul MOE+ AK grip Other upgrades I’ve gone with: - bowmaster full steel trigger mechanism - tight bore SS barrel - AB-8R stock - Hephaestus steel selector - Hephaestus steel trigger - Hephaestus heavy weight piston Maintenance wise: - Clean the inner barrel out after every game day. If bought brand new, it comes with a barrel cleaning rod. Use strips of dry microfibre cloth or microfibre cloth soaked in IPA. - I always wipe din the bolt and brush out the lower receiver after a game day. - use a decent metal on metal lubricant for the lower receiver and bolt. I use white lithium, but I don’t recommend it as it’s quite easy to over apply and make worse. - use a decent silicone oil for plastic on metal surfaces. - spend some time learning how to strip and disassemble the bolt/nozzle unit and the trigger mechanism. Hopefully you never need to open the trigger mechanism… but you’ll definitely need to learn about the nozzle as you’ll need to fit the power down nozzle valve. Jaeger precision and commie bear Airsoft do some good videos that taught me a lot.

  33. I have the AKM, which is basically the same platform and it's a fantastic piece of kit. Never had any reliability issues, though my friend had his nozzle break after a over two years of fairly heavy use; he used it for a lot of game days and the nozzle eventually gave up. Mine has been just fine, but I don't use it as much because I'm more into the MWS. For upgrades, all I'd do is swap the hop rubber for a Flamingo rubber and swap out the hop arm for Jaeger Precision's hop arm as it's amazing: https://jaegerprecision.co.uk/shop/p/ne7ayhxn2g8eyi4mpl7ulzbzkvl234-a8gw4 For maintenance, just treat it like a real rifle and clean and relube it after each game day. It's fine to use in the rain and I tend to use GBBRs when it's heavily raining because there are no complex electronics that can get wet and ruined, just make sure afterwards you take it out of the rifle bag and let it dry out. I usually field strip my GBBRs if it's been really wet and just leave the parts out on my desk for a day or two to let them dry before I clean and relube it. Don't put it in an airing cupboard though as that can dry out the hop rubber; just keeping it out and letting it air dry in a regular room is enough.

  41. Oi m8 you got a planning application for that? If you are going for the 28 days Class B "temporary use of land" you will want to keep things fairly temporary. Like event tents, event ground covers, etc. Or you can do these fairly sophisticated event structures made of scaffolding, like big stages or event seating or even obstacle courses if you so wish. Although if the location is SSSI then I guess you can't do airsoft in it because it is arguably a type of "war game" as defined by law which is not allowed for the 28 days Class B.
