  1. And without all the bestest-ever TM parts that have been swapped out. So he's charging £200 for the plastic shell of a TM. Is that the part that contains the TM pixie dust?

  2. This has confused me. So £20 off retail for the whole package? When you've no idea how it's been put together or anything? AND IT'S ONLY £20 OFF RETAIL???? Crazy.

  3. Aside from a bit of linishing, polishing, a trip to a friendly local engraver and then either further polishing (unrealistic but would look nice imo) or zinc phosphate, here's me latest completely impractical cqb toy. Literally works exactly as the real thing except with a plastic non pointy "firing pin" (more akin to what we see in m203s and aps cam870 mk2) and a chamber deliberately designed not to be able to take the pressure. It's also slightly the wrong bore for any modern shotgun shell.

  4. Seems like a whole bunch of negativity recently (and I'm struggling to find events of interest).....so....... What event, Weekender, thing, product, game style etc is coming up that you're excited about? Can't think of anything? What would you like to see? I'm pretty excited for the milsim esque night games at gunman tuddenham to coming back. I've got the excitement bug back for a classic skirmish day and gear wise I'm stripping bs stuff but realistic kit (eg, losing the pistol, spare pistol mags etc on a rural kit).

  5. Yeah there was a change in the rules so that once a medic got shot, instead of being able to respawn by going to smother zone, he'd lose his armband and ability to revive. My team managed to keep most of the medics alive throughout, while the other team lost theirs and eventually got overrun. Maybe 3 medics instead of 5 would have worked better, but if the plan was to have rounds lasting 45 minutes plus, then it worked fine

  6. Today, the lad and I headed over to Dragon's Lair in Essex, a site that we visit 3 or 4 times a year at most. It is a small, heavily wooded site with lots of structures including a village, a fort and quite a few barricades. It has a rather decent and surprisingly large safe zone, with free tea and coffee available throughout the day, a basic site shop, provided by Airsoft Zone, and an in-house tech. We always take pizza when we play airsoft, mainly because it has become something of a ritual to do so, but also because most sites do not really cater for vegetarians. Today, we were very glad that we did as lunch was not available on site and it is quite a long way to anywhere that sells food. We were rather surprised at how few players were there today; we are used to there being around 100+, but only about 50 were present today, with fewer after lunch and as the afternoon wore on. One nice surprise was that finding that they now chrono using the BB weight that you will be using, rather than just using 0.20g BBs; I know that we can discuss whether chronoing serves any real purpose, other than providing a moderately reassuring ritual, but this seemed like a significant step forward. As usual, the games were fairly short, simple, straightforward and good fun; having fewer players present helped as the site can feel a bit "wall to wall" when it is busy. We played a good variety of relatively simple games throughout the day, with the first one being particularly memorable as I ended up behind the opposing (attacking) team and had great fun crawling around in a heavily overgrown ditch taking players out and hearing them complaining about being shot by their own team. In the reverse of that game, we completed the objectives in about 30 minutes, whereas the other team had taken nearly an hour. Other games played included a push the flag game, last man standing in the village and frozen (when you are hit, you have to remain still and can only be released by someone on your own team shooting you). Overall, it was a good, fun day. The games played worked well with the numbers and the marshalling was on point; the teams were rebalanced a couple of times in the afternoon as player numbers decreased. Weapons used: Me: CA HK33 CA HK53 Milbro M1911 Classic CO2 The lad: E&L AKS74U CYMA AK105 ASG XP18 Commander CO2 That is really pathetic; it is supposed to be fun. One site that we play at makes a point of mentioning in the safety brief that, if you lay hands on another player in anger, they will support the 'victim' if they want the police involved. It is one of the best sites that I know for player behaviour.

  7. Yeah, I'm definitely not writing the site off my list. It's convenient, good facilities and the game zone itself suited my style of play. I had a few good trades and got the drop on a couple of people , as did others on me.

  9. I’ve always had air rifles , I’ve nearly always had airsoft stuff too but don’t play anymore so it’s just collecting at the moment , my kids are still too little for actively playing airsoft but both have shown an interest in air rifle shooting , so I’m using airsoft rifles to teach them basic fundamentals its win win for me at the moment 😛 nice s500 too , I did the same (on a whim ) a little while ago

    The Abyss...

Without looking at the car myself and checking components/listening for abnormal noises etc... it could just need a regas, especially if it hasn't been done in a while. There is a chance that there may be a leak though. If you have a UV torch (and UV resistant glasses for safety) shine the torch around the compressor, pipes and condenser (small radiator for the AC) If there is a leak it will glow under UV light. Failing that, book it in to any garage that offers an AC regas service and ask them to regas the system. Part of the checks they have to do is a quick UV light check, then put the system under vacuum and check that it holds. Average cost of a regas should be about £50-75 depending on the garage and should fix the issue most of the time

  11. Lower is coming along nicely. right hand side is pretty much complete however I'm going to make the fire selectors longer, tinker with the mag release internals a bit more and I'm toying with making the bolt hold open spring loaded so that when you pull back on the charging handle the bolt locks to the rear automatically. ignore the horrible printing on the lower, I have some surplus Matt PLA which is terrible and I'm waiting on some more PLA+ to turn up.

  12. Hot day yesterday at AirsoftGB but a good day, nonetheless. I took my newly repaired CM16 Carbine (thanks to @andydrgfor fixing it up) and it shot like a dream all day. Some great kills with that! Some unusual gameplay thanks to a Juggernaut in play who switched teams when taken out by a grenade or melee kill and that added another level to the day. Numbers dwindled as the day went on and I didn't make the last game myself due to feeling a little rough but it was a good natured day with mostly good hit taking, and very well run by the Marshall team.

    Best m4 for £300

Are there any particular guns you're interested in? If so post some links and we can say if they're any good or worth the price. As you posted there's many go choose from so asking 10 different people could easily get you 10 different answers. Also is your £300 budget for just the gun or will it need to cover extra bits like magazines and batteries?

  16. I did think last week that maybe it needed a cap or cooldown on revives before the downed player is forced back to respawn. That said, and perhaps this speaks volumes about me, I found it hugely amusing harrying the medics as they dashed back and forwards having to revive the guys I’d just rekilled immediately after they saved him.

  17. Going to assume you are asking about AEGs. I faced a similar dilemma, weighing up a £190 Double Eagle M906C against more expensive options as I had extra money ‘spare’. In the end I went with the Double Eagle as the more expensive options didn’t seem to offer a great deal over it. From my digging, if you wanted to spend the full £300 then the Specna Edge 2.0 series offers the most comprehensive set of features in a range of styles to suit your tastes. They had terrible QC in the early days but anecdotal evidence suggests this is now largely resolved bar some minor fit and finish quibbles. Negative Airsoft on YouTube doesn’t do reviews as such, but he does in depth tear downs and dislikes almost everything to some extent. I found his videos useful to get an unvarnished insight on potential purchases.

  18. Based on last time I was there Ping Ping is too confined for medics, as you rightly pointed out, the opposition will think you're not taking your hits because 5 medics can cover the entire area too effectively. We really struggled to break your team last time in the afternoon. Whereas you took over BBC quite quickly in the morning.

  19. Another day at Special Ops nr Olney/MK After the multi-gun debacle of last time, I went with 3 - the VFC HK416, the DE M906C (well, obviously) and the Classic Army Scarab Numbers today were much more the usual 50+, rather than the 25-30ish of last time. Still plenty of room to manoeuvre, and the chrono'ing didn't hold up proceedings at all. I tested the scarab on the range again, but my ammo supply for the day was 0.32s or 0.28s, and the Scarab clearly struggles to lift the 0.28s. The chrono read at 200fps when lifting those (again), so I think I'll try the usual ML + Omega combo to see if that'll get the lift without strangling each BB at birth Rather impressed to find another gentlemen had brought one of these rarities along too - he used his through the day (presumably with a lighter BB, or from closer range than I'd accept!). So, to combat with the usual two-gun combo. As we set off the heavens opened with a short thunderstorm. Enough to get everyone soaked, and for everyone with glasses or goggles to fog up. Including me. Even my ESS goggles couldn't cope with the 100% humidity and general wetness. The first game passed me by as I struggled to make out anything. I decided to strip the optics off the 416 I was trying to use, but gave up on that and went to the DE (thinking; if you can't see - throw lots of BBs in the right direction). This was a sensible choice, but I lost a lot of time, and it was a harbinger of the bitty (not in the good sense) day that I had. Luckily the sun came out for a bit, the downpour stopped and the fogging went away after a brief pause in play to give everyone a chance to sort themselves out. Long story short though, problems continued where basically I kept mislaying kit, I left my main bottle of BBs at the safe zone (800m away), eventually my new crane battery decided to run out of juice and I found I'd left my alternates back in the safe zone. Trying to swap back to the gas gun failed as the bolt decided to get locked up, and I couldn't get the gun apart enough to free it. I mislaid my face pro, I mislaid gloves, I had my DE gun buried under a pile of rental gats while I went off to get the batteries for it... I had the stocks on both guns loosen up at bad times (in spite of tightening them up the night before!) and on the way out the strap on my rucksack decided to disassemble itself. No way was I buying any lottery tickets. There was also a few salty cheat calls today, Carlos was having his hands full. I think most of the problem were the two prolonged rounds with medics, as the guys doing the attacking were seeing the same faces popup shortly after getting a hard-earned hit. I suspect I was one of those, as I had a very good session in the sniper tower (this time with the DE pinging super-accurate shots into the church) and racking up a lot of kills. (One thing I found today was my DE was set to burst mode. The motor got hot and the gun seemed to be not enjoying itself, so I switched to semi. That sniper tower session had me spamming a lot of fire, to the point my hand was getting overheated through my gloves... I had to let it cool down. A better motor, and perhaps a downgrade to a 7.4v battery could well be in order) I got hit a few times, but one of our attentive medics was near enough to get me back in the game within a minute or two each time. Must have been annoying to the attackers. Shame I missed much of our attack, because at that point my gun started to chug as the battery gave out. I was going to work hard on suppressing the tower and organising a rushing attack. In the end a bunch of people left early. I suspect they'll have some negative feedback to spread. Carlos did his best to tell everyone how he'd kept tabs on the hits / medic use, but that obviously didn't really convince. How do other sites use medics? (At Spec Ops, the 5 medics can run to a person, count out loud down from 5, the victim shouts "back in" and that's it. The medic can also 'drag' someone to cover) Final PITA is that when I attempted to fix my 416 I left my rear body pin in the gun box. I can't find it now Are body pins generic or do I have to order a specific VFC one?

  20. As silly as it might sound, I'm just looking forward to going again. I used to play twice a week (over the weekend) and sometimes on a Thursday night in my early-mid 20's, but then marriage, house and kids happened. Before lockdown, I stopped going and probably played once a year. I put on some weight over lockdown and I went last year and I was just exhausted. I skipped the last game and it felt like a drag. It was really demotivating and I lost all interest. Fast forward to this year and Im now 2 stone lighter. I went twice last month and I got seriously bitten by it again. The weight loss helped massively and I was able to run around again and had a blast. I keep thinking about going again and plotting in my head about what guns to take, what kit to wear, what changes I can make to my loadout to make it easier and more efficient. I wont be able to play regulalrly like i used to because of shifts, kids etc & I don't think I'll be able to go again until mid September but I am so excited for it!

  24. Yep - I had a Gamo PCP (Venari). Moved onto an HW110 and I've just bought an AirArms S500 and the tactical platform chassis (yes that's a PTS stock as a placeholder) Struggling to find anything fun or exciting in Airsoft at the moment. I'm spending most of my spare time at the moment fussing over pellet choices and my 25m Benchrest scores. If it wasn't for my boys - I would consider moving on from Airsoft altogether. As it is, my youngest is 10 - so hasn't even played yet - but is absolutely desperate to play alongside me and his older brothers. So I keep going.

    What have you made?

finished the main shape of the lower. working on the mag release (push button instead of paddle now) and just need to finsih off the bolt release lever and exactly where to make a hole for the fire selector. On the plus side the Scorpion mag fitted in the magwell first time which is a bonus.

  31. First time at Driver Wood. Just went for an afternoon session, £20, not too bad. Safe zone is good, albeit hectic because they had airsoft, airsoft 'beginners' and it seemed 2 lots of paintball. So lots of people, I left most of my kit in the car. Safety brief was concise and quick, and team ID was via 2 x armbands - so no sneakily hiding an arm out of sight. Initial game brief was good, and I sort of followed the crowd because I didn't know where any locations were. Took a few good ambush hits and went back to re-spawn. Whilst I was meandering back in to play I'd missed an altercation between an apparent 'site regular' (40ish year old) and a younger player - who's brother then weighed in. I witnessed or heard none of it, and others may give an eye witness account. But ultimately it resulted in the players being booted out and banned. Worse still the older gent decided he'd wait outside the site to continue the argument, the last I overheard from the marshalls were the 2 brothers had 'filled him in'. All over a heated exchange of plastic pellets, pretty pathetic. After that it took a while to get going again, with poor communication between the marshall team/players. Second game was less punchy but there were a group on the green team, that some orange players said were not taking hits. First day of pewing since early May, and it's reminded me why I tend to stick milsim/battlesim. Shame because the site is only a 25 minute drive from the girlfriends.
