Popular Post Impulse
What a weekend; Namsoft is incredibly fun. Went to Operation Boogaloo at Gunman Eversley Alpha as VC with two friends and we caused havoc. Myself and one of my friends were a pair of VC snipers who harassed the US forces all through both Saturday and Sunday. We would shoot a few, then bug out before they could organise a counter-attack and we basically did this all weekend. US forces kept leaving their radio masts unguarded, so it would've been rude of us not to constantly take their radio masts down through the weekend, which sent their morale-o-meter into the gutter (which was our objective as VC and PAVN). The other guy in our group spent the entire Saturday playing as a farmer, ditching all his military equipment and walking around the site with a rake, watching the US forces and their movements, then getting somewhere quiet and radio-ing in their locations. They were getting very jumpy, but to their credit they never shot him as he played the part of the scared farmer very well. This continued into Sunday, where we kept going with the same tactics. Our farmer changed out into a French uniform and played the part of a French mercenary HVT for the Aus forces to hunt down and kill, but they never got him. We even went on a stealth mission as two snipers (my friend was also marked as a HVT by this point), our French HVT and a PAVN soldier to take out one of their radio masts, but we managed to sneak past the US platoon in the area, do the objective and then bug out. Our HVTs never died (though the Aussies got very close to the French merc) and it was a fairly dominant performance by the VC and PAVN. Numbers were 55 US/Aus vs 22 VC/PAVN on Saturday, down to 25 US/Aus vs 15 VC/PAVN on Sunday, so while outnumbered we played to our strengths really well and the VC/PAVN guys I played with were all absolutely knackered by the end because we had to fire and fade so much over the weekend and Eversley Alpha is a pretty hilly site... Only my 2nd Namsoft game, but I'm definitely going back. The VSR performed amazingly and I think all bar two of my kills were 60+ metres (with most of those being 70+ and one of the less than 60m kills being with the pistol) and I thoroughly enjoyed the filmsim experience. I'll never get into milsim, as when I tried that I didn't really enjoy it, but filmsim is an absolute blast and I encourage people to give it a go. Also, especially considering how annoying we were being, I didn't have anyone get mad and square up to me this time (that group wasn't there, funnily enough), but I did have someone moan to me about a headshot I did at about 60m. I'll always aim for the chest and tried explaining how long range shots work (like how the hop up makes the BB go upwards towards the end of the trajectory, how a slight breeze will take the BB on a magical mystery tour, how a leaf will knock the BB out of the park and get a home run), but he wasn't prepared for me to speak and clearly just wanted to have a go at me; I tried explaining my side of it, but he wasn't interested in listening, only venting, so I gave up. Otherwise my experience was fantastic and I loved the whole thing. Some of the special forces guys shook my hand after the first day and said how impressive some of my shots were. Playing as a sniper can be pretty uneventful sometimes, but when you have one of these games where you feel like you're making a silly amount of impact on the game, it makes it all worthwhile. Haven't had such a good game in a long time! colinjallen, Rogerborg, Mobius Strip and 5 others 4
Popular Post Tactical Pith Helmet
So…. Impulse has written up the gameplan and thoroughly decent sportsmanship of the last Namsoft game. There’s not much that I can add in that respect. I was in another squad, but played VC too rather than PAVN for once because… we had two VC loadouts, and my nearest and very much dearest decided to play along for the weekend. It would have been wrong to abandon her to the ranks of the filthy imperialists, no matter how much US kit we have. So a few personal notes. The weekend was extremely relaxed. The social was chilled, and the beer flowed freely après sport as it were.* Apart from an isolated incident already related above, gamesmanship was excellent. The chilled atmosphere definitely leeched into the game itself. My wife was ultra-impressed at the helpful attitude of the other players when we became split up by the need to respawn etc. She described help personified. For a first airsoft game a two day filmsim could have broken any love at all, but she was fully smitten and buzzing by close of Saturday. As far as I went, guiding my wife up to the very perimeter of the enemy firebase was amazing. We got right up on the wire and then I let loose the RPK. We slotted many yanks. An experienced support gunner giving it large at close range is an ouch to behold tbh. After the game a couple of GIs came over, still laughing, and shook our hands. Getting within three feet of the objective unobserved was a real achievement. It made our hard 20+ minute crawl more than worthwhile. TBH a more experienced sideman and I could have made hay, but there we go. We should have hit and run, but we tried to take the full garrison on. It ended predictably. Sunday was a full on head to head as Impulse lead the one squad of yanks a merry dance, we had to take the other squads on as full on as the VC ever do. This meant firing with real intensity and then backing off into the bushes. It was during this period that Impulse pulled out his sidearm and I actually recognised the chap, fron a few forum pics. Jesus wept, that bloke can play sniper! It was nice to put a face to a forum name. I’ll certainly try and play on his team in future… Anyhow… I had a great weekend. My wife is suddenly after all these years suddenly hooked on Namsoft, and our son had a great time as GI, as he regularly does. I'm going to book onto a few non-Gunman games to see what they're like as far as Namsoft goes. I'll report back here. *I’ll miss the ugly details. It did involve incorrect tent identification and entry, tuneless singing, questionable scotch and, arguing about aeg performance, all within a self defined 'bar'. As one of the Yanks who was lounging around listening to Rolling Stones hits when you attacked I salute your efforts. I could not believe you'd got that close without anyone spotting you, and the woeful cry of "Medic" woke 1st Platoon from it's post-lunch slumber as we tried to work out what the hell was going on. Believe me we all got a telling off afterwards about inattentive sentries, which clearly didn't go in, as after we'd evited the NVA/VC from the Firebase later in the day, I made the mistake of standing in the open outside my bunker, only to hear a "ping" as a sniper shot bounced off my helmet, and watched our medic run straight past me... From the US point of view it was quite unnerving with all the hit and run tactics, but I did laugh at the number of times the VC attacked our position just at the point relief troops were being rotated in. If only you'd turned up a few minutes earlier we'd have been in serious trouble. As it was 1st Platoon was down to 3 men defending our radio mast at one point, having lost our officer and the radio guy, which made for an intense period waiting for our relief to turn up. Anyway I completely agree with all the sentiments. The gameplay was great and I'd thoroughly recommend these events just for the atmosphere and amazing effort put into the kits. I honestly don't see the problem here. 1 Joule, less than that, will blind you. AirSniper
Good game this week, none of the overkill of couple of weeks back... but the teens playing were not taking their hits First game I was hit once in the 20 minute game. Best game was cash grab, I got 8 of the haul myself, our team definitely won as couple of guys grabbed bags from the opposing team.

Guest Mr. No_Face
One of those days where my head just wasn't in it. Hardly a fraction as aggressive as I usually am, didn't push any objectives and overall didn't enjoy myself much to be honest. I've also come to the realisation that I find certain open field/woodlands maps, dull and unsatisfying. By the time lunchtime came around I found myself taking a 2 hour break and falling asleep on the grass. Besides that hit taking was decent I guess. Team communication was pretty shite as most the team would only communicate with their own peers....Which ultimately meant that our team were moving around sporadically. My MWS GBBR had another flawless performance with not a single Issue and was hopping beautifully. I gotta say the more I use this gun, the more it's quickly becoming my favourite ever Rig. There was also a fellow MWS user on the opposing team who was having issues with one of his mags, so It was cool to be able to help him out and give him some advice. Overall: Pretty shitty day but I'm very satisfied with the upgrades I made to my loadout. No dropped mags or equipment and a comfortable, complimentary belt set up. Come to think about it it's probably my most comfortable Loadout yet. EDIT: Could probably do with some elbow pads though, to make prone positions a little more comfortable. If you have eyes which are not average shape cheap contacts don't always fit the contours of them 100%. If you play with the big toys like 600NE, the recoil can detach your retinas. Supporters Rogerborg Posted June 26, 2022 Supporters Share Posted June 26, 2022 Decent day indoors at Biohazard. They made good use of both floors, and play was generally good natured and fair. There were a couple of players taking the piss with rate of fire and getting away with it because - wait for it - they were using silent HPA proton-blasters. If the marshals can't hear it, they can't act on it, sadly. Oh, dry firing in the safe zone. Jesus wept, and there's no way to excuse that since the site owner was chatting with folk while they were doing it. I now habitually wear polycarb sunglasses in "safe" zones since they axiomatically aren't. Still, the actual play was great, although if my faith in the Emperor wasn't so strong I might question His decision about the coverage (or lack thereof) of standard pattern Guard flak armour. All the squishy bits got peppered. Tactical Pith Helmet and Unreal Warfare

colinjallen
I had a hot and sweaty day at Tower Airsoft in Essex. This was one of the days run by Camo, who always put on a great day of airsoft with solid but relaxed marshalling and games that make good use of the site and its structures. I went on my own today as my second eldest is away having far too much fun in MTP, some of which involved an L129A1 and a GPMG. I am not at all jealous (honest!), but it was quite scary to think that my first shots with a GPMG were 40 years ago; where did the years go? However, the site had its usual quite large number of experienced and sensible players and I had a great day sneaking around the site turning up where I was not expected to be:). Unfortunately, the heat seemed to get to people and both numbers and energy levels dropped off a bit during the afternoon, which was not really surprising. However, the games were still good, just slower. Overall, another very good day at Tower; many thanks to the Airsoft Plantation and Camo guys, the players and the catering staff, who had a good supply of ice lollies. At the sites I've played, it's been "1 in the air" or "Every 2 seconds" - which at DMR ranges is much the same if you actually wait to see the impact or miss. In practice, I've never seen it policed at all, and I've seen other DMR players taking the absolute piss with it - and it's very easy to do when you see a target appear. Example, we had a bloke on here reckoning that he might set his mosfet to limit him to a shot every 0.5 seconds, i.e. four times as fast as the above rules/guidelines. DMRs are super, duper exploitable. I enjoy(ed) mine, but if I were running a site, I'd ban them off entirely, as one of my local sites already has. I am not sure if this is common across sites in general but, at the woodland ones where I play, there has been a significant reduction in the number of DMRs. I am not sure why this is but, on talking to a few players who have stopped using a DMR, a common factor seems to be that, given the limited lines of sight at woodland sites, there is little or no advantage to running a DMR against well tuned weapons running 0.30g+ BBs at 1.05J with, for example, a Maple Leaf Macaron rubber and Omega nub with no MED and full auto. Popular Post Skara
Last weekend's 9h night tournament was a blast! We were missing one member (so we were 5 instead of 6), nonetheless we went balls deep and did almost everything! The tournament itself was very interesting since in order to locate/complete some objectives we had to find information inside other objectives (namely Objective 4, its coordinates were found inside Objective 3, E1's coordinates were found in either E4 or E2 and the rest was distributed throughout the AO). Storyboard was that we had to help a sniper called "Silent Arrow" in eliminating a drug lord, by recovering information around the AO so we could tell him which person to kill. (map for reference with all the objectives marked) At the start (11:00 PM) our guns were taken away and transported to an unknown location (AEG on the map), we were then given a small cartographic exercise in order to find the coordinates, hiked from the HQ to AEG, collected our gear and proceeded to C2, then E4 and E2, since they were limited to a very short time frame (30 mins each, 01:00-01:30 E4, 01:30-02:00 E2), here we had to wait for a car to leave small boxes along the road (marked in green), those boxes contained very useful information regarding other objectives, mainly coordinates and items we needed. If one team was not able to recover those two packages within the given time limit, they would have had to hike back to the HQ and ask for them, with a point penalty of 500 points per package (which means being last, since 1000 points equal two combat type objectives). This is where we had our only engagement with a patrol which lasted a whopping 15 seconds, we got spotted because another team, who was sitting in the tree line next to us, ran away creating a lot of noise so the patrol got alerted. When we opened fire they melted, but still, 100 points lost -.- (another 200 if you lose the engagement) With those two packages retrieved, we headed back to the HQ so we could input the coordinates in our GPS devices and plot a sensible route. The main goal was to reach C1 as fast as possible because it was the objective with the strictest time frame (03:00-03:30), unfortunately we fucked up navigation and barely missed it, so we decided to do Obj.2, here we had to injure (by shooting him in semi auto in non vital parts, essentially arms and legs) a dude, extract him and blow up a building. Barely completed it, we messed the extraction part because we didn't have enough time. After that, we skipped WP4 and went to WP3, WP2, WP15, stumbled upon Obj.4 (had to insert a chip inside a laptop without being seen by the defenders), WP5, attacked Obj.3 where we had to blow up a laboratory, then moved counter clockwise through WP11, WP6, Objective 1 where we had to exfiltrate a case of radioactive material and take a picture of a scientist, after telling him apart from the rest (they all had images of chess pieces on them, it was relatively easy because he had a king), skipped WP7 because we didn't realize we were that close, went WP14, E7 and E1. At E1 we found the sniper, who was an archer IRL and he had setup a shooting range with four dummies at a good 35 metres, we gave him the correct name and he fucking pierced the dummy with an arrow from that distance. Kudos, that was a fucking good shot! (We were later informed that he was competing in the national archery championship, so yeah). On our way back to the HQ we went to C3 and then finished at 07:35 AM. Back at HQ we did a small debrief with the organizers and noticed that they had given us 5000 points in total, we thought we were like last, or second to last, since we had skipped a few waypoints, skipped C1, almost fucked up Obj.2 and we were the last team to finish.. Fast forward 20 minutes, results were out.. Last team (of 6) did 3250 points, then 3 more teams with less than 3500, hype started to build up and then, drum rolls, the 2nd team got 3850 points!!!! Well colour me impressed! Never thought we could have had such a large gap from the 2nd! Unfortunately I forgot to turn on track recording on my GPS, but my mate's said we hiked around 23 kilometres, in 8 and a half hours, not too bad! Kit wise, a last minute change I made was to bring the Mayflower instead of the TMR, and it was a really good choice, the thing is 100x more comfortable and lighter despite the overall larger signature and capacity. What let me down was the backpack, 3 hours in and it started digging into my shoulders despite having only two litres of water, one bag of BBs and one NVG monocular in its protective soft pouch, along with spare batteries and a tiny bit of food so I'm gonna have to look around for a replacement. And a stronger insect repellent, my arms are filled with bites it looks like i have a plague of some sort! Floperator
After a nightmare two weeks at work covering for my boss (off with covid) and so doing the work of three people rather than the usual two, I needed nothing more this sunday than a good rest...so of course I booked a day airsofting so I could run around in 25c heat in full kit getting shot in the arse and action man crawling through heaps of stinging nettles. Another great day at Reforger - Team Skins whitewashed the opposition and won every game, despite being substantially outnumbered for the last two games. I managed to stack it badly sprinting back to spawn with an objective item at one point, fucked my knee up and fell hard on my gun, filling the birdcage with mud. The site owner helpfully cleared it out for me. Thought the gun might be well and truly busted but it didn't even lose zero (Lancer gen3 is really holding its own so far). Day was very slightly marred at the end by someone having a bit of a strop about hit taking in the last game. They had to be told to calm tf down by the two marshals who were within 6 feet of both the shooter and shooter 🙄 Other than that little incident, hit taking and general sportsmanship was great. This day also finally made me eligible for a UKARA number, so soon there will be no limit to the amount of shiny shit I can buy...
