  1. Entirely reasonable, I guess I forget that many of these retailers have a 'brick and mortar' store which are great for folks to get some hands on before picking things up and just having a mooch... which will almost always result in some sort of purchase.
  2. Nothing worse than when DCA is the only option with something in stock in the UK. Not only are you going to pay more for the item than anywhere else, but you're also going to spend a fortune on postage irrelevant of how small (both in size and cost) the item is. Clearly doing something right because they've been in business long enough to suiggest so, but I certainly don't know what it is.

  4. Favourite: PTW, couldn't tell you why specifically... I just love it. Performs well, light while having superb build quality, a 'bolt stop' without having to deal with any shitty electronic recoil system and decent mag capacity. For what I want in a RIF it just ticks all the boxes and I don't have to sacrifice anything (other than money, I guess) to get there. Best: Between the PTW and the MWS, the MWS edges it for range but the PTW edges it in convenience. Worst: That god awful MP7 AEP thing Marui released 10-15 years ago (no idea if they're still a thing). I used to identify as a 'sniper' when I didn't know any better, the idea of an MP7 as a backup was about as cool as late teenage year me thought it could get. Fuck me was it shit.
  5. Ultimately depends whether you want picatinny, m-lok or keymod. Keymod is something I've never used (and likely never will), I like some picatinny handguards but usually default to m-lok for the weight saving and the fact the majority of the weapon lights/weapon light mounts and grips are m-lok. You've got a variety of options open to you, I've only ever put HAO MK16 rails on mine when only swapping out the handguard and/or outer barrel. Have used the 9.3" handguard with a 10.5" outer barrel, the 10.5" handguard with an 11.5" outer barrel and the 13.5" handguard with a 14.5" outer barrel, all are great but for my arms/body I found the 10.5" handguard my sweet spot. Outside of that I've installed full body kits for an SAI GRY and currently have a Noveske N4. Suggestions for handguards is kind of too broad a question because the handguard is a significant part of what your rif looks like, so aesthetics tends to drive that descision in airsoft because we don't have things like barrels heating up and needing lasers to hold zero for the most part (if you're at the point you care about that you probably own NVGs and have a prety good idea of what you're looking for).
  6. Feels like a big case of LMGTFY but there you go. Literally just googled 'Nuprol Gas PSI' and was greeted by this article as the first result which states 2.0 is around 135 PSI at 72 degrees Fahrenheit (about 22 degrees celcius) and 3.0 is around 160. While the chart lands on around the 110 PSI mark at 20 degrees celcius for 2.0 and the 145 PSI mark for 3.0.
  7. I maintain that I hate the knee pad design granted that's not unique to the Platatac ones, I just loathe the Crye knee pad design/system and genuinely can't fathom how its last so long without revision. Aaaaaanyway, that aside the Plat ones are definitely my favourite run of Crye-alikes, glad you're liking them. Looking forward to selling my pair of regular Tigers on so I can grab a new pair in what is now the correct size.
  8. I’m by no means old, I’m 33 next month, but I’ve got plenty of playing/hobby experience. I don’t tend to pass comment on things I haven’t engaged with. I have zero want or need to watch other folks play airsoft, are people influenced by what they see? Sure, but broad speculation will tend to carry a degree of truth. Just as I’m sure many great folks for the hobby may have never heard or tried it courtesy of said influencers. I also refuse to believe those attitudes wouldn’t exist even if YouTube didn’t.
  9. This is all so tragically jaded 😂. I've been playing for give or take about 20 years, and for the most part it's all about the same for me. The access to decent reliable GBBRs is a big win, as is my personal access to more disposable income and being able to transport myself pretty much where ever I like. There have always been idiots, there will always be idiots. Social media is fine, its been a great way to meet like minded people to chat shit about what is, and likely always will be, a very niche hobby. Biggest 'issue' I've seen creeping in more and more is how stand off-ish and 'clique-y' it's become. Everyone seemingly wants to find a reason to hate everyone else that isn't in the group they play with, and has an attitude going in to playing that it's going to be shit. Not that the latter is anything new, airsofters hating airsoft is a founding pillar of the hobby... for reasons unknown to me. Edit: I guess I'm not shocked by the general concensus given we're in the land of the dinosaurs... a forum.
  10. Big personal win for me today, these puppies arrived and the gamble of going with a small reg paid off (been gradually working down from a large reg for the last few years). Fit perfectly, over the moon.
  11. That's not the case, I'll leave the appropriate link here for anyone that cares to read it. My best guess would be the speed at which they're trying to process everything is outweighing how good they've been at charging duty, and long may it continue (he says having literally just had to pay duty on a parcel from Australia). As you said, not a thread discussing this just wanted to clarify something that wasn't entirely accurate.
  12. I mean your 'luck' entirely depends on how frequently you've ordered items that are valued at £135 or more. If it's under £135 you won't pay duty, if it's £135 or over you should pay duty (with varying rates depending on what it is you've order). It's not a debate in the slightest, it's simply how it works.
  13. To clarify, this isn't entirely accurate, though it is in the instance of this order due to the value of it (assuming it's correctly declared by the seller anyway). You can still wind up paying duty, seemingly entirely pot luck, if the item you've ordered is over £135. Depending on exactly how they're shipped you can sometimes wind up being charged a handling fee by whichever courier handles the parcel once it hits the UK. Those two are usually bundled together, and it's unlikely (at least in terms of anecdotal experience on my part) you'll get hit by a handling fees if you haven't had to pay duty. Very much aware there is an element of faux pas here because the one on the classifieds you're referring to is mine, but I see a lot of confusion around what fees have and haven't been paid when ordering from overseas.
  14. Certainly look less wonky in the more recent photos. Ultimately, at least in the case of the real one, the hood/shroud is considered a ‘sacrificial’ part there to protect the expensive bit from bumps and drops. As long as the sight itself sits correct that’s the main concern. Finger are crossed for you that it can withstand the rigours of a GBBR. I know it got largely lost in the weeds of an ongoing parallax discussion, but holding zero and the electronics not playing silly buggers is going to be the main test when used on a GBBR.
  15. Aye, hood looks super on't wonk. Makes the whole thing look like it's leaning backward, curious to see how it looks from the other side, give the 3 cut outs for the control buttons and the pair of torx screws on the other side I'd like to think it's damn near impossible for the to be wonky. Looking at the second photo the hood definitely looks higher at what would be the front right as you're looking through it. Edit: Not intending to rail on your purchase, just want to make sure you're getting a product you're happy with.
  16. I’ve only ever used stock TM or HAO (specifically the 11.5” for the HAO) outers so they’re the only ones I could personally vouch for. A google of ‘MWS 10.5 barrel’ will present you with plenty of options, most if not all will be outside of the UK (something to get used to with the MWS as you change out more parts, not a problem at all, just a note). If I’ve ever been after an outer barrel for an MWS I tend to put up a wanted post in the classifieds and haven’t generally had to wait long for someone to get in touch that has one available, YMMV. As for the front sight post (FSP) they’re very easy to remove, two pins on the sides need knocking through and a small grub screw on the underside, but you’ll need to be changing out your rail/handguard if that’s the route you want to take because as it stands the FSP is keeping your handguard together. Last but not least, my grip vote goes to the BCM Gunfighter, though they seem to be a pain to find at the moment. Or at least were the last time I looked.
  17. 10.5 is as short as you’ll be able to go for an outer barrel with the stock inner barrel. All versions of the MWS, CQBR through to MTR, all use the same length inner barrel… so yeah, 10.5 is your limit. Granted I’ll never understand how folks use anything much shorter than that comfortably.
  18. Popped this up as a status and pretty quickly realised I never read them so it’s unlikely anyone else does, so I’m going to copy pasta the same text here as it seems like the most concentrated place on the forums for you creative 3D printing folks. If anyone into the 3D printing thing could get in touch about designing/creating/printing me an insert for a 'suppressor' to pack out for a tracer that'd be lovely, I do have dimensions measured up. Should be just a fairly simple tube unless you want to get fancy. Obviously happy to pay for the service, TIA! Edit: Update, part now sorted courtesy of the man below. Thanks for those who have messaged me.

Hi folks, The January clearout has officially stretched in February. More info can be found here. Without doubt my favourite iteration of Crye style 'combat pants'. Lots of very intelligent features added such as the dual fastenings behind the knees. Great condition, slightly darkened spots on the knees as seen in the photos (looks like mud staining to me, they have been washed). Selling to replace with a size down. Looking for £100 including PayPal and postage. Cheers, Alex
